I sipped a few of these over the course of filming and after a couple the sweetness and honey did become a little sickly/overpowering. I'd recommend using either a 2:1 honey syrup or dropping back the measure of 3:1 honey. Still a great drink but recommend tweaking a little if you are going to sit back and have a few :) enjoy!
love your smile when you shake the glass lol
Your videos are so wholesome in some aspect and it always brings me back. Keep it up boss, love ya.
Thanks JP Banana Man! 🍌
Had this at my local speakeasy bar. Beautiful simple pre dinner cocktail.
Yes super simple. Like the spirit if you find different honeys it can change the flavour profile, I like a local wild flower. Also the Bees Knees week (3rd week in September) helps to bring awareness to what we can do to help the honey bee. Just a simple selection og garden flowers will help immensely.
Very true! Would differ greatly depending on the honey used - I only used a run of the mill honey available at the local shops.
I’m moving house soon and planning on a big garden - definitely adding some bee-friendly flowers! 🐝
That smile tho!
😊
@@StevetheBartender_ what if you heat up the lemon juice then dissolve Honey into it? Lemon honey syrup!
It’s literally the best part of the videos and I look forward to it every time.
One of my favorite drinks! I add a dash or 2 of Scrappy’s Lavender bitters to it 👌🏻
Ooo, that would be a nice addition!
thank you madam
Now this, Steve, I can try and make. It doesn’t have crazy ingredients that I don’t stock at home
Hehe, you’ll love this one.. simple yet delicious!
Definitely plan to use 2:1 dilution in honey syrup. Will report back when I make it
you're awesome
Hey steve, i noticed that you mentioned if you'd make a video containing cocktails with simple recipes, you'd then link it in the description. We'll now you have made one and it would great for people stumbling on this video to find it in the description. Best of luck!
Thanks for the heads up Obama! I had the link in a card on the video but forgot to add the playlist in the description... I've updated and here it is: ua-cam.com/video/psCIlB6tbRI/v-deo.html
When I have a cold my husband makes whiskey lemon and honey and warms it up this version sounds so much nicer
There’s not many warm drinks / cocktails that I like so would much prefer a Bees Knees as a cold cure too!
Top Man, going to make this for sure!
You're probably aware but there are 2 other interesting variation of the Bees Knees: The Business (a play on the word Bees Knees, just swap lime for lemon) and The Business with Pleasure (add Pineapple juice).
Cheers from Scotland! 🍻
I wasn’t aware actually.. I’ll have to try the Business with Pleasure riff 👌
@@StevetheBartender_ Great! Looking forward to see you preparing it!
Can i add a soft drink (sprite or 7up) to the mix?
What kind of gin do you use
Dumb question but has it always been made with gin? A bunch of local places make them with different flavored vodka's here in the PNW.

Do you think it can be prebatched or will it ferment with the honey ?
The Bees Knees will be 18% abv or more so it will prevent fermentation. In saying that, I wouldn’t prebatch it and keep it for days as it will oxidise. Prebatch on the day and account for dilution too 👍
This is a silly question, but the honey is added with warm water?
To make honey syrup, yes, you diloute honey with warm water to a 3:1 ratio.
I've always heard coupe glass pronounced more like "coop" than "coo-pay" but maybe that's optional.
I think the word coupe is French... it can be pronounced both ways..
EDIT: I’m wrong 🤣
Americans like to pronounce European words in a simplified way. Same with Porsche being pronounced "Porsh" instead of "Por-sha"
@@StevetheBartender_ Coupe is only pronouced "coop" and means cup/drinking vessel. Coupé is pronounced "coo-pay" and is the past participle of the the verb couper which means 'to cut' :)
theHurl yep! I looked into it 4 months back and realised I’ve been saying it wrong for close to a decade... I’ve sited my previous comment now. I still can’t break the habit of saying it incorrectly sometimes.. 🤣
