    I'm pretty sure it was in Fire Red, possibly Leaf Green as well, where there was this one fisherman in a building who would ask you to bring him the biggest Magikarp you could find. He even told you how big it was each time you brought it to him, and I noticed that the more I trained the Magikarp/the higher its level was while preventing it from evolving, the bigger the measurement. From then on, I just assumed that as Pokémon leveled up beyond average, they grew bigger. This might not explain those Godzilla-sized Pokémon you mentioned like the Dragonite, but I believe it could explain the larger Charizards in Charicific Valley.

    Your videos aren't theories. All you EVER talk about are things that happen in the anime or in the manga. You don't keep on the subject of THEORY but change to summarizing what happened in the episodes/manga. Either write a script and do some research of oh all these theories or change your "theory" series title.

      When i ask ''Why are giant pokemon giant?'' I want a intelligent answer/theory as to why these rarities happen. I don't want to receive an answer that makes me question further as to why they are giant. I have been curious for maybe 10 years as to what the hell 'bigglypuff' was. I haven't actively tried to find out why until I saw this video and the best answer we get is 'because all pokemon are different'. really pathetic.

      Animals can be large or small in nature as a means of helping them hunt or avoid being hunted. Predator types need to be heavier in order to avoid losing out to common foes especially if they're slower and can't get to as much food resources as others. Some pokemon like to disguise themselves as bigger in order to ward off foes (I'm assuming this is the case for Bigglypuff, though I'm only familiar with Zoro line and Qwilfish) Dragonair being a maser of weather can also create mirages to appear bigger than it actually is or even take the guise of its evolution dragonite.
      Still these are all examples of normal pokemon that only pretend to be bigger. Like is the case with humans if something is too different then it would be outcast and unable to reproduce efficiently. That's why for the most part pokemon would be roughly the same size and shape as others of its kind. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist are unique in that they don't follow this trend likely because unlike other ghost they possessed a living object (all other ghost possessed inanimate objects like armor or gas) which have variable growth rates.
      In short there are no giant pokemon, and if some should exist due to mutation the evolutionary process would quickly stamp out the trait forcing uniformity.

    My theory on giant pokemon revolves around fish. You see certain fish grow proportionate to their surroundings. IE a fish you raise in a 2 foot tank will grow to a much smaller size than the same fish being raised in a pond or lake. All of the giant pokemon are all in the wild, and a fact that really brings this home is that Ash's Charizard is smaller than the ones in charisific valley. The ones there are raised by the girl however they are ultimately wild pokemon. I clearly remember her saying pokemon poachers usually come to catch some of their own.

    I remember watching this episode when I was a child. I remember dreaming something like this, but with Charizard, Venasaur and Blastoise. They were all huge, like 7'0" tall at most.
    Well anyways, in that dream, I remember chasing after the Charizard, and it went into this one room. It was dark in there. When I went to see where he was at, I noticed the flame at the end of his tail was going out. I remember holding onto him and crying, while he cried too, because I knew he was dying, or something like that. That's all I can remember form that dream.
    Funny thing is, at that time, I didn't know Charmandar's line died from putting the flame, on its tail, out.

  • @TheDudeSimon

    Theory: In the games it tells you "NAME grows a level" that can say that the higher level they are the bigger they get.

  • @GamingStar1995
    @GamingStar1995 10 років тому +1

    in the game, some people , *commonly fishermen* , ask to catch the same pokemon, but with different sizes. Also, in pokemon 4ever, tyranitar was a colossal pokemon, whereas in other anime episodes, he's a bit taller than the average human trainer.

  • @lucasglasseur2872
    @lucasglasseur2872 11 років тому +4

    Also, I always thought that the size of a Pokémon was determined by their "anime" level. Like, that Dragonite there in that episode is level one hundred.
    So, seeing a level one-hundred anything-Pokémon would be are and all.

    • @CrimsonDeadly
      @CrimsonDeadly 11 років тому

      But that doesn't explain why none of the caught pokemon you see regularly in the anime grow in size, unless through evolution. I mean disregarding the "level reset" of Pikachu, he'd probably grow at least two times larger than when he began the journey.

    Pokemon are probably like regular animals, such as given a huge tank with nothing else in it, a small fish (such as a goldfish) can grow into a giant fish. Pokemon are probably like that to, if its left in a large, un-populated or little population area, it'll probably grow much larger then regular pokemon of its species do.

    This was a lot longer than I meant it to be, but please bare with it. Also, I apologize if it comes off sounding snooty or know it all...I'm really just presenting my theory on these things, and admit that there is every possibility that I'm wrong...
    Draganite might be explainable by old age and/or massive amounts of training that simply translated to a large size. Iris's Dragonite loved to train hard and fight strong opponents, so I wouldn't be surprised if it wound up becoming pretty big too.
    The giant Tentacrule, as you said, was mutated by Team Rocket. Furthermore, the Tentacool that was talking through Meowth, if you noticed, looked different from the others. I think it was also affected by Team Rocket and gained psychic like powers.
    The massive Onyx was probably a result of the area it lived in. We know different areas are better for pokemon growth and development than others. We also know, thanks to Sun and Moon, that different areas can change not only the appearance of a pokemon, but the typing as well. I think the area the Onyx was in just happened to be perfect for it to increase in size. We even see other episodes where a very similar thing happens to multiple Onyx.
    Sandslash was able to survive by getting nutrients from the Onyx's body. As Onyx moved, we can assume, that many things wound up getting into the crevasse between it's boulders, including the one Sandslash was stuck in. It wouldn't need much water since it is a pokemon designed to live comfortably in arid areas. Animals, and I'm guessing pokemon, have a habit of surviving crazy things. Have you seen some of the pictures of neglected animals? It takes a while for starvation to kill them.
    The Charizard in the valley all trained really heavily all their lives with other powerful Charizard. As I stated before with the Draganite, this training and extra power could explain their large size. Not to mention the area where they live is perfect for their growth and health. This, combined with the girl that was caring for them could all add up to a larger size. Ash's Charizard was small because he never trained as hard as those Charizard did. He never had to since the opponents Ash met were never powerful enough to make it want to be stronger, and it didn't respect Ash enough to try harder for him. It wasn't until Ash showed Charizard how much he really cared for it that Charizard began to listen to him.
    Nephilim are crosses between humans and ANGELS, not demons...The bible says they are from the "Sons of God and the Daughters of men." ...so...there's that...There are other theories that state the massive humans, or giants, were simply people who had yet to lose the magic that all humans once possessed. These were thought to exist in this dimension, but could resonate with/use the higher frequencies of other dimensions to preform feats that were seen as magic or miracles. Some even think that Jesus and Moses and other historical/mythical people were capable of the same thing, and that's why they were able to do the things they did. That's just all from stuff I've read or heard about though.
    The giant Noctowl and Jigglypuff were ancient, so there's no telling if all pokemon where much bigger back then or not. Just like real life creatures. We know that ancient relatives of things like sloths, crocodiles, and sharks were WAY bigger than they are today. It's because they had the room and resources to get that big. As humans spread and space and food became limited, it was only natural for creatures to become much smaller and require less resources to survive. That's natural selection for you. There even used to be an island (not sure if it still exists or if the animals there are still around) that had pygmy creatures. Like elephants the size of dogs. Those creatures just didn't have the room or food to grow to the full sizes of other creatures of their kind.
    Mewtwo's clones looked different because Mewtwo wanted to be able to easily spot the difference of his "superior" breed of pokemon. It could also be that they were created as a slightly more historical form of their original forms. We never see what those pokemon looked like in the past before human intervention forced them to change, so who knows.

  • @TheNin-Jedi
    @TheNin-Jedi 8 років тому +7

    Well we know its a fact that pokemon can come in different sizes. Some smaller or larger than their average size. Just like humans and many other real life animals. Yet when it comes to giant pokemon the only evidence is through the anime and the only evidence they give us is through unnatural causes (Giant Tentalcruel), fake pokemon (Pokemon Island) or possibly very old and very ancient pokemon (Giant Dragonite). If we are to consider the idea that humans sometimes experiment on Pokemon or somehow influence the environment of said pokemon then it is quite possible to have these mutations. Really they're just really cool throw backs to Kaiju like Godzilla and the such. As for Bruno and the giant Onix. Well Bruno is of the Elite Four and if anyone has beat the game they know this. Which would have been a well known fact by the time that episode came out. So basically it was just to show how much of a bad ass an Elite Four member could be.

    that giant dragonite episode was was actually based off of an old children's story called "the foghorn" by Ray Bradbury. it was about a seamonster looking for more of it's kind and visiting a lighthouse every year believing that it was a seamonster like him, but destroys it when figuring out it wasn't. see? 2warpstoneptune.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/saturdayeveningposjune231951bradbury.jpg

    I think what happened with the giant Dragonite is that it has lived for a really long time. Same goes for all the other giant pokemon. they managed to stay away long enough from the sight of humans do that they'd reach their full potential. I can also conclude that being stuck in a pokeball stunts the pokemon's growth and shortens their life. Maybe that's why pokeballs were invented, to suppress pokemon and not allow them to become too powerful.

    I have many suggestions. Abnormal cell growth, invalid perception toward an object example: hallucinations, something makes the object seem bigger, we consider it different than what we believe than what it really IS. Since Pokemon have nearly infinite energy used for spamming fire, causing earthquakes, etc., they could produce more cells or other types of body mass that are converted to energy used for moves and such. Simple scientific reasons really.

    the original anime is pretty wierd, maybe it shouldn't be cosidered canon. It seems like it doesn't even take itself seriously. I mean there are so many awesome animes with great story and characters, yet the pokemon anime is one of the most succesfull animes. wth?
    Pokemon the origin is awesome though, and it should replace Ashs series.

    Onix's Pokedex entries in Red/Blue: As it grows, the stone portions of its body harden to become similar to a diamond, but colored black. Yellow: Burrows at high speed in search of food. The tunnels it leaves are used as homes by Diglett. Crystal: As it digs through the ground, it absorbs many hard objects. This is what makes its body so solid. Emerald: There is a magnet in its brain that prevents an Onix from losing direction while tunneling. As it grows older, its body becomes steadily rounder and smoother. Black/White: It burrows through the ground at a speed of 50 mph while feeding on large boulders. Black2/White2: Opening its large mouth, it ingests massive amounts of soil and creates long tunnels.
    Here are my thoughts on Onix: It feeds on large boulders and ingests large amounts of soil as it burrows. The tunnels it leaves aren't filled up behind it or there wouldn't be room for diglett to use them as homes. Obviously Onix isn't eliminating 100% of what it ingests. As with any animal, it uses what it needs and only eliminates what it doesn't. It also absorbs hard objects, adding to its density. Now, in Emerald the pokedex mentions that Onix grow smoother and rounder as they age. One would initially think that this would be due to a sort of rock polishing effect like boulders in a riverbed. However, Onix is said to be hard almost like diamonds, which would mean simple dirt and rock would not be enough to cause that polishing effect. This could mean that Onix is growing rounder and smoother by growing larger. Now, the law of the conservation of mass dictates that those hard objects absorbed or eaten by Onix aren't just disappearing, they're adding to its overall bulk. There's also only a certain amount of density a given material can grow to before its volume must also increase.
    Now, assuming that Onix's behavioural patterns and lifestyle don't drastically change as it ages, and why would they considering these behaviours are related to the way it eats, then that would lead one to conclude that Onix can grow indefinitely until it dies or is captured and kept in a pokeball. Giant Onix are really really old Onix.

    The Dragonite being an escaped robot from the island of giant Pokemon makes a lot of sense, especially since Bill could have just been communicating with the machine via morse code thinking it was a Pokemon he was 'talking' to, though you'd think Bill would be able to tell it wasn't truly a giant Pokemon, but he was pretty hyper/excited about his discovery so maybe he had a few signs it wasn't real and just ignored them, I wish we would have gotten a follow-up to this episode with either Bill actually meeting a giant Dragonite or discovering it was actually a robot and deciding he's gonna keep looking for a Giant Pokemon despite that, lmao then again now that Dynamax-ing exists maybe that's what the Draonite really was, a random Dragonite that found whatever is used for Dynamax-ing out in the wild one day and turned giant, honestly you could probably tell a cool little story about how the Dragonite became giant if it really is a Pokemon and not a machine, both options are pretty interesting though the first is more likely since I highly, highly doubt Dynamax-ing (a.k.a the lame ass gimmick that should have just been Mega-Evolutuon) was thought of back then, let alone hinted at so that like 25 years later we could figure it out

      In fact I'll take it 1 step further - you know the random statues you see in egypt? The ones that are like 30 feet tall? Back when they were made they were the same size as people... Want extra proof? Go see the pyramids and you'll find it literally impossible that humans could have created them so perfect when they worked by hand and also take in how big the boulders they pulled actually were... You'd need huge people to do it.

      No he wasn't, Goliath was taller than 9 feet. Have you ever looked on facebook at giant humans? Ancient humans like that's SKULL is bigger than us. They were 30 feet tall back then, breeding with aliens is what caused the sudden shrinking.

    Some giant poke'mon could be explained by something called "Indeterminate Growth." As it grows, the stone portions of its body harden to become similar to a diamond, but colored black(says the poke'dex). So seeing as the giant onix is huge, and a slightly darker color than others shown, it could have been alive for a very long time. Indeterminate growth would also explain the giant dragonite, which could have been alive for hundreds upon hundreds of years. But this is just my thinking.

  • @hanatarouyamanda

    Maybe it is an age thing, like how certain fish or reptiles never stop growing. Dragons make sense for being extremely long living creatures, if it continues to grow over hundreds of years it would be much larger than younger, more common Dragonites because it has survived all this time.
    There is also the Giant pokemon from Pokemopolis, that where trapped in the primative pokeballs. It is arguable that pokemon may have evolved to be smaller over time, which again supports the larger size due to age theory.

  • @dantekatsanas2314
    @dantekatsanas2314 11 років тому

    i think it has to do with enviroment, for instance goldfish can grow very large depending on there enviroment, so a pokemon like dragonite living in a large, cold ocean would have LOTS of space while a dragonite that lived near people would only be able to grow to about 7''

    I believe, like real life animals, every pokemon comes in varies sizes. Yea, there may be the common ones that are the height that the pokedex gives, since that's the MAJORITY height, but I'm sure there are some that grows a lot bigger or a bit different in designs compared to the others, just like the dragonite. And since dragons are commonly drawn in different sizes, that's probably why it happened to the dragonite naturally.

    Maybe the giant Tentacruel and Dragonite battled and destroyed each other, because they both left traveling off in the ocean, and it looks like they are very territorial, and obviously Bruno would've kept an Onix like that! That could've explained how these characters were never reintrodueced, because Bruno would've stayed because he's an Elite Four member.

    food for though: there are some animals on earth that continually grow throughout their entire life. I can't think of any off the top of my mind but i remember it was a plot point in one of the Anaconda movies. There are also animals (such as lobsters) that are more or less immortal because their cells repair damaged DNA during mitosis. If pokemon had both of these traits, being immortal unless killed, and being able to continue growing untill they die, it could be possible for that dragonite and onix to be hundreds or thousands of years old, depending on how fast they grow.
