In Pokemon XY, there was an Evil Malamar , who took over the mind of an officer Jenny, and built a doomsday weapon, while taking over the minds of Ash's and Clemont's, Serena's, Jessie, and Jame's pokemon, eventually it was defeated, it came back with two other Malamar, and managed to use the Device but was stopped by Ash and crew with the help of several wild Malamar and Inkei
Last night I had a dream that you, Proto, were the most famous person on the world and everyone wanted to meet you so they all went to New York, including me, and right when you were about to arrive I woke up. No joke this is a legit dream!
But Darkrai on the other hand.... well, there are many aspects of both good and evil, such as movie (good), and causing nightmares whenever all around (evil) etc
I think that Pokemon do have a moral code, much like they have a personality. However Pokemon can be influenced by their trainers to become good or bad, e.g. the Koffing/Ekans scenario you listed, and the fact that Meowth was probably influenced by Team Rocket to become evil.
There's no real reason why any of the TYPES should be more evil than others. Why should dark-types be bad? The dark in itself isn't bad. Ghosts don't have to be bad. If you read the Pokedex entries, you'll find that many Pokemon kill, maim, kidnap, and do other things that would be considered bad. (Excerpt from Glalie's Pokedex: "After immobilizing its foe in ice, this POKéMON enjoys eating it in leisurely fashion.") And even if some Pokemon were evil; that wouldn't make ALL the Pokemon of a certain kind or type evil. It's sort of ridiculous to propose that something can be purely evil. Sure, actions can be considered evil, but Pokemon do most things to either survive, follow order, or without malicious intent. Anyway; nice episode! (You should fix the issue where you cut off the speech when changing recordings, at the beginning and end.)
In second generation, Heart Gold and Soul Silver, one of Elm's professors in the labs says something along the line of when a Pokémon is raised by a bad person, the Pokémon itself becomes bad, so upbringing and environment play factors as well
Lt. Surge was not actually in any war, but he thinks he was! As when he mentioned the war all what was said was electric Pokemon helped him, but in Pokemon X and Y, there was a war 3000 years ago which would use Pokemon as at some sort weapons, etc. It could also be safe to say that he's not who he says he is and the real Lt. surge was a historical hero. As also seen in Pokemon Ruby/ Sapphire/ Emerald people tend to move away for been places to work. If you have the time please take some time to look over this theory and if anyone else has any other questions about this theory feel free to ask! But i may not be able to answer all of these answers in bulk...
How Satan came to be- He didn't respect humans, and refused to, so his wings were taken away and he was banished to Hell. Giratina's story- It was banished to the reverse world for being excessively aggressive. Sound familiar?
Yeah but one episode in pokemon X and Y there is a malamar all by himself that controls any pokemon and people it wanted and attempted to control the world
And I think any Pokemon is as evil as one of my family's former horses. Stormur, the youngest, threw me off every time I rode him. Nearly broke my neck. Did the same to my dad. He was given away and probably slaughtered. Elding, the female, wasn't so ready to accept everyone on her back. She was a trained horse bought from a riding school. Glimur, my horse, was accepting of me and my dad, but nobody else. Are these horses evil? I don't think so.
i face palm at some of these pokemon theories cause it's obvious sins it's shown multiple times! Ash's Squirtle was with a gang of Squirtels who where causing trouble, pokemon that use their cute appearance to steal, Mewtwo wanted to take over the world and more. a BETTER theory is: Are there people who battle pokemon them selves?, can some humans use aura or other abilities like pokemon as shown in the anime or a reason why Pokemon isn't in the youtube dictionary!
***** That doesn't mean Charizard is evil, but Charizard thought it was top dog and it was above Ash thinking he had no right to telling him what to do. I mean look at it Charizard is a badass dragon who breathers fire and ash is a 10 year old kid who couldn't even get the first two badges the official way
***** Hahahah I see your point how he is at that point and I guess I can agree, but overall I would just say Charizard was a lil' bitch who needs to leanr a thing or two on appreciation.
No i do not think Pokémon are evil. Is a lion evil because it targets an injured or baby animal? No, it is advantageous to its survival. Like mentioned in the video looking at a non-human organism as evil is not a good way to look at it because that is anthropomorphizing the Pokémon. The Pokémon don't know any better it is in their nature to attack random humans who are walking in "their land." Pokémon seem to be very intelligent, and they probably see humans as horrible beings that capture and force their friends/family/ancestors into glorified super powered animal fights. The real question should be "are the humans in the alternate universe that is Pokémon the real evil ones?" Though to be fair if i had a Pokemon i would probably do the same thing.....
Hey proto please try my theory about pokemon being immortal unless killed(key piece of evidence, pikachu being alive for the entire series and the time before that and probably be alive for the rest series)
On the show in one of the newer seasons they say how ash is still only 10 years old so then if he hasnt aged then neither has pikachu. But ya thats an interesting thought
Theory. Are all pokemon only able to lay eggs and not regular birth? Lemme explain. All pokemon that are able to breed can only lay eggs. Most pokemon are based of off bugs and reptiles and others that can lay eggs. But other Pokemon that are based off of animals that aren't able to lay eggs (e.g. Kangaskhan which is based off of a kangaroo that keeps their young in their pouch) are still able to lay eggs regardless? Are pokemon only able to lay eggs?
He is being told too! The boss of team rocket gives him (and Jessie and James), orders. He follows them because he's stupid, hates that Pokemon that "the boss" pets all the time, wants to be rich and be pet by Giovanni, and because (I think) he likes hunting pikachu.
also in gold/silver and heartgold/soulsilver proffesor elm's assistant after your rival steals the pokemon says "when a pokemon has a bad trainer, it becomes bad itself"
I'm sorry if you have already done this but I have a good question that I thought of after watching you video about if pokemon age when they level up: If Pokemon are at high levels in the wild by battling against other Pokemon, then why don't they have any Effort Values when you catch them? This question really only comes into play if you do agree with the fact that pokemon in the wild level up by battling against other pokemon... otherwise, are there just a bunch or rare candies around and they eat them... and maybe that's why you find them on the ground occasionally? who knows? O_o
Please do a video about Lavender Town Syndrome (LTS). I'm pretty sure it's just an urban legend, with a nugget of truth, but I'd like to know about it further. It would be more of a Pokemon Conspiracy than a Pokemon theory, but I'd love to hear your take on it.
ProtoMario, Will you please do answer my question of what happened to Blue's Blastiose in Heart Gold? I'm pretty sure I have posted this on every one of your PKMN Theory videos and I'm sure it would be a great one to look into.
But Proto! (Thought this was the perfect time) If it was his starter Pokemon why would he not use it in a gym battle? This battle is 3 years after he lost the championship to Red so you would figure he would have it on his team, yet he replaces it with Gyrados.

But Proto thank you sooooo fricken much for including that thing in the anime about Pokemon not being evil. I'm so happy knowing that someone actually remembers that.
i remember watching an old episode of pokemon wich starred jessy's ekans and James koffing,in wich was pretty much stated: pokemon are never evil when they are in the wild.they are only evil when their trainer wants them to be evil.
What about that one episode with the evil togepi? It has no trainer, yet tries to steal Team Rocket's rocket along with Dawn, Team Rocket's, and Ash's pokemon who were effected by Attract
This has the same answer that: Can an animal be evil? The thing about Pokemon, is that if they were real, they would not be apart of the rest of animals. Even the ones that we call "evil" just act by instinct. Because they need to do it, or they are predisposed to do so. Even the "smart" ones or "lovely", like Gardevoir, are not "good". They just can't feel anger or hate, and it is not because they don't know what those things are. They can't choose like people, they just react.
omg i love everything that you do, it makes my life so much better. I love your views on oak and your speech is fine (you bring it up a lot), i find it adds to the fun. besides i do it too lol
You have to think of it from the pokemons point of view for example: a zebra is terrified to see a lion running at it. The zebra may think the lion is evil because it kills its kind ,but from the lions point of view the zebra is food and the lion needs food to live. We cant just see it from our point of view we we can't just judge from action. We also have to judge from intent of doing so.
Here's a question I've had for a while. In the anime, the pokemon say their names, but humans named them (as addressed in the show). So how can they say their names? And what about pokemon that don't say their names (like charizard) or ones who only say part of their names? (like chikorita)
Being "only" a willing tool to an evil act does not resolve them of the crime. It may be said that Pokemon have trouble understanding human morality, thus relying on their loyalty to their owner. Then that poses another question, once a trainer has a pokemon's loyalty, how far will that go, will they blindly commit any to crime, will they follow a trainer to the pokemon's own self destruction.
Other than attacking indiscriminately or acting on impulse (e.g. The desire to cause mischief.) I'd say the only bad thing about Pokemon is that they are unshakably loyal to their trainer/partner/master. They're just using their Arceus given abilities to their advantage, like any living being would. So, that doesn't really count as evil, just because they can have sinister names and effects.
their is a evil togepi(how can something that cute become that evil?!), malamar and meowth, and what ticked giratina off in the movies is dialga and palkia damaging its dimension and filling it with some sort of very deadly toxic gas that would likely get anyone upset even if they don't already have some anger issues
Pokemon Theory: Do trainers steal money from other trainers? (when winning a battle the trainer threaten the battler to give all there money using there Pokémon). Pokémon Theory: Why can I fly/surf a fainted Pokémon? I did not saw one of these titles in your playlist or maybe I didn't saw them. Sorry for bad grammar.
I remembered it was stated in the Gen 1 Pokemon handbook that Pokemon are not capable of acts of evil, and that they do so because their masters are evil. Then it outright states that Meowth is the exception. I have always held onto that belief that only Meowth can be evil, until.... Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness. Darkrai masterminded a plan into motion that would eventually lead the entire planet into a state of paralysis. The motive? That was his ideal world of dystopia where all life, color and even time in the planet ceased to exist. When the Pokemon and trainer tried to change the past to alter the future, Darkrai attacked them. That was not the end of it. Even when the past was saved, he disguised himself as Cresselia and tried to convince the protagonist that he/she was the reason for the instability and the only way to get things back to normal is to "disappear". Then had it been successful he would have restarted the event leading to the planetery paralysis again. I know most Pokemon care in coexisting with nature, but his actions..... and even after seeing the Pokemon suffer in the future, and comparing that with the happier Pokemon in the past but still wants to go ahead with his world building anyway.... Remember that definition of evil where the elements are commonly associated with unbalanced behaviour of expediency, selfishness, ignorance or neglect? Darkrai trumps all of them! Realizing this fact I looked into other Pokemon to find out anything that could have potentially make them evil based on their actions, both in human and Pokemon perspective. Granted, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon might not properly reflect the morality core of the Pokemon, but there are some instances where it is becoming hard to hide the fact that Pokemon are far more capable than humans to commit an outright act of evil.
Giratina is actually misunderstood he wanted his own diemension and got it but in the sense that he was mistreated when it was given to him. Heck he wanted that grass hedgehog mythical Pokemon so it could help clear out debris. Darkrai as well was misunderstood where he travels gives people catatonic nightmares and he doesn't want to do it on purpose. He usually when forces nightmares is trying to talk with them like in Pokemon movie 08 I believe.
Why are there (elemental type) Pokemon who are also part-Normal type? e.g. Deerling/Sawsbuck Girafarig Litleo/Pyroar Helioptile/Heliolisk When Pokemon like: Gogoat/Bulbasaur/Sceptile, Ninetails, and Pikachu/Mareep/Pachirisu, are pure types. Are the former Pokemon in transition to being purely elemental (irl evolution-wise)?
The only evil Dark types from the anime so far are the evil Malamar, and possibly James' Inkay. The reason for the Malamar being evil is unknown but Inkay clearly is evil because he's a part of Team Rocket. Maybe you should do a video on a theory about why the Malamar from the episode "Facing the Grand Design" are evil.
what about a theory about why certain flying pokemon, or pokemon with working wings cant learn fly, but a pidgey can? same thing with pokemon who can levitate or at least drastically slow down their decent
a pokemon is like a sword. a sword is a tool, albeit a bloody dangerous tool meant for killing, its still a tool. its the mind behind the tool that makes the choice on whether to stab someone in the back, or turn it into a plowshare.
"A sword is a weapon. The art of swordsmanship is learning how to kill. That is the truth. What Miss Kaoru says is sweet and innocent talk that only those whose hands have never been stained with the blood of men can believe. But, to tell you the truth, I much prefer Miss Kaoru's sweet and innocent talk over the truth, indeed I do!" Sorry, I had to :p
LMAO quick question: During your "BUT PROTO" bit, were you trying to sound like Pleakley/Tallest Red/Kevin MacDonald there? If so, you did a damned fine job!

There was a Malamar that wanted to take over the world in the Pokemon anime. :/ It was a wild one too
Pokémon being evil only applies to specific pokemon and not their types. Darkrai was the hero in one of the movies.
I think that Pokemon do have a moral code, much like they have a personality. However Pokemon can be influenced by their trainers to become good or bad, e.g. the Koffing/Ekans scenario you listed, and the fact that Meowth was probably influenced by Team Rocket to become evil.

I have a theory that Zangoose was originally in gen 1. Arbok is the cobra Pokemon, and Mongooses and Cobra's are enemies, not as much as other snakes.
I kinda compare pokemon to dogs. If you train them to be mean and hate, they will be like that. If you treat it nicely, they will turn out nice.

This has the same answer that: Can an animal be evil? The thing about Pokemon, is that if they were real, they would not be apart of the rest of animals. A minor note: the Dark type is called Aku in japan, which means Evil.
Best intro ever.
Also the japanese name of the Dark type is...
that's right - "Evil".
Proto said that it is what they do with their lives just in the comment section
i was not into Pokemon much but watching ur videos im getting more & more interested thank you
Here's a question I've had for a while. In the anime, the pokemon say their names, but humans named them (as addressed in the show). So how can they say their names? And what about pokemon that don't say their names (like charizard) or ones who only say part of their names? (like chikorita)
"But Proto"....Hey, Proto, is that your favorite part of your videos? I always laugh when I hear you go into that...
I'm really surprised he didn't say anything about the moral conflicts of Mew and Mewtwo. They were like the perfect examples of good vs. Evil.
their is a evil togepi(how can something that cute become that evil?!), malamar and meowth, and what ticked giratina off in the movies is dialga and palkia damaging its dimension and filling it with some sort of very deadly toxic gas that would likely get anyone upset even if they don't already have some anger issues
Sorry for bad grammar.
my theory is that the trainers give you money as a gift so you don't kill them with were pokemon but its just a theory
Black-Chestnut
A GAME THEORY
It is actually stated that after winning a battle the loser agrees to pay the previously agreed winnings.
ProtoMario thx
Proto, can you do a theory on how pokemon evolve so fast? Evolution usually takes millions of years to be accomplished.
apparently dusknoir has a smiley face on its back which is used to lure children away quite evil if you ask me
Funny thing about Dark Type Pokemon, in Japanese they are referred to as あくタイプ, which literally translates to "Evil" Type.
Got a theory : in movie mew2 returns why is ash not affected by the water from the spring
wild Garados Destroys citys.. it was said by Pdex in gen 1 that sounds pretty evil
You get evil pokemon in the Mystery Dungeon series. Dusknoir seemed to be one of the few truly evil pokemon in Explorers of Time.
BUT PROTO DARKRAIS POKEDEX ENTRY SAYS HE MEANS NO HARM!!!
well in japan dark types are called evil types so it may also be possible that there not evil however it may be being unfair or a trickster
Pokemon Theory: What is Meowth? How can it talk? Why does it talk? Does anyone own it? Proto, can you please answer my questions?
Thanks!
I already did Meowth
Oh okay I'll check it out
.
There's an episode or a movie that explains how Meowth can do those things.
well you see...
That's a good point you made. Pokemon, in general, are not evil, but have evil masters.
"but proto, james dressed up as a woman once" **Dies from lack of oxygen**
"Pokemon do bad things ... because master bad!"
-Ekans and Koffing
7:55 why is koffing all of a sudden shiny?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!Is it becouse(im not going to correct that because...........)the moon or something?????
3:12 really, Darkrai and Zoroark appear evil in there respective movies, but it turns out they have a good reason for there behaviour :)
He said evil abilities
wow i love how your so spoken to us in the comments xD alot of youtubers just glaze em but you give everyone a chance xD
I try very hard to support my fans.
Preesh
Why are there (elemental type) Pokemon who are also part-Normal type?
e.g. Deerling/Sawsbuck
Girafarig
Litleo/Pyroar
Helioptile/Heliolisk
When Pokemon like: Gogoat/Bulbasaur/Sceptile,
Ninetails,
and Pikachu/Mareep/Pachirisu,
are pure types.
Are the former Pokemon in transition to being purely elemental (irl evolution-wise)?
But Proto! What about that evil Togepi from the diamond and pearl anime?!
I never knew Sableye could paralyze Pokemon with it's tongue too
Wait, did I hear Proto call professor Oak a senile time lord?! 5:34
you cant go into the tall grass because pokemon may attack you and you need one to defend yourself.
No.
what about a theory about why certain flying pokemon, or pokemon with working wings cant learn fly, but a pidgey can?
same thing with pokemon who can levitate or at least drastically slow down their decent
a pokemon is like a sword. a sword is a tool, albeit a bloody dangerous tool meant for killing, its still a tool. its the mind behind the tool that makes the choice on whether to stab someone in the back, or turn it into a plowshare.
"A sword is a weapon. The art of swordsmanship is learning how to kill. That is the truth. What Miss Kaoru says is sweet and innocent talk that only those whose hands have never been stained with the blood of men can believe. But, to tell you the truth, I much prefer Miss Kaoru's sweet and innocent talk over the truth, indeed I do!"
Sorry, I had to :p
TalonSky no, its perfectly fine.
Like Absol, it was misunderstood, since it was trying to help, but got blamed...
LMAO quick question: During your "BUT PROTO" bit, were you trying to sound like Pleakley/Tallest Red/Kevin MacDonald there? If so, you did a damned fine job!
Here's a theory: Missingno is a failed attempt to create a Porygon
But what about wild Pokémon who cause trouble? If they aren't evil I don't know what to call them.
