Some people complain about recipes like this as they say, "its far too simple, its hardly a recipe, show us how to butter bread next time", but for me, yes these toasted sandwiches are pretty simple but sometimes we need a reminder of just how good they are, by watching a youtube recipe such as this. Great stuff in my book.
Drives me crazy that people believe that their is only one right way to do a recipe. They do not believe their exist any innovation or even regional differences. I see this so much with food and drinks. People are always saying everyone else is doing it wrong.
He never said other ways is wrong, he just suggests to try it as is because he likes it a lot. And it really does taste good. Its like an ultimate BLT in a way.
HI Sam, am from Mauritius,( Indian Ocean Island). I love your videos , you really inspire me! I love this sandwich though it can be 100% cholesterol. Cheers
It bothers me when people don't follow a recipe and then give it a bad review. I'm going to do the opposite. After watching this video I went and made a fried egg sandwich using only what I had on hand. But I followed the techniques and ideas and pressed on. And, damn it worked out well. I used slices of bagged bread and I had some deli sliced ham to stand in for bacon. I had mayo and Sriracha and I think that combo is important. I had never thought of putting lettuce on this sandwich in the past. I had been toasting bread in the toaster and using ketchup on my fried egg and cheese sandwich. Never Again! This serves as proof that it only takes little more effort and ingredients that you may already have to elevate even a simple breakfast sandwich. Thanks Sam!
I just got a heavy duty aluminum quarter sheet for the bacon. It takes me back to the time I was a military cook, and I'd make ten or twenty pounds on full sheet pans. We went with 300 degrees. I start the oven at 400 until the bacon starts to sizzle audibly, then turn the oven down to 225-250. It won't ever burn at the low temp, still only takes a half hour, and it cooks slowly so you can keep an eye on it and you never overcook it unless you drive off to the store.......I also like the grilled bread, like when I use marbled rye and mozzarella with bacon tomato and avocado & whipped salad dressing (State Fair brand) and Wober's horseradish sauce. Skillet the tomato slices for a minute before putting them on the bread and sprinkle lemon pepper on them. I was just eating an egg sandwich, that's why I found your video! Thanks, I'll try your way the next time.
11:25 You can tell it really does taste THAT good, the way Sam can’t stop devouring it! Also, this was 5 years ago with no restaurant. And now he has TWO very successful restaurants!? That’s pretty incredible. Although very understandable why. Sam’s recipes are DELICIOUS! I can’t tell you how many I’ve tried. But a few of them have honestly become staples in my home.
My version of the egg sandwitch is good too : -white bread -cheddar and gruyere cheese -cut in quarters knack (4 half cylinders) -fried egg -oignon flakes -sesame seeds -sriracha
tons of gooinness with the cheese, the creaminess of the yolk, the smokiness of the knack and toasted sesame, and the slight spice of the sriracha, oh man i can't get enough of this one
"If I had a restaurant, which I don't, this would be on the menu for sure." You have a restaurant now! So is this on the menu at Not Not Tacos? Maybe a fried egg taco???
For some reason back in '15, I was not much of a fan of Sam's show. I thought he was terrible as well as the involvement of the camera folks. But now I cannot get enough of his content.
I like his videos overall, but they're a bit too long. IMO, the best cooking teacher on UA-cam is Chef John over at the Food Wishes channel. No frills, just solid recipes and technique demonstrations.
They mentioned that they went to a bad restaurant that a relative picked. If you were related to Sam the Cooking Guy, why would you not choose to have every meal made by SAM THE COOKING GUY while you were visiting??? Sure, Sam might get a little tired of it, but I wouldn't ;)
This video could have been 5 to 7 minutes long if he had been more organized and had the ingredients out. But, I enjoyed listening to him talk with his son and be like a real person in his kitchen. I sometimes cuss while I'm cooking--burn myself or something is not coming out like I want it to. So for me, I enjoyed this video and learned a few things. The sandwich looked great to me.
The disorganization and cursing is what separates this show from the also-rans. You never know what is going to happen with Sam; other shows are sterile.
Goodness that looks really tasty. I learn a lot from Sam's video's. The way he cooked the egg to fit the bread but still have the yoke all the way through is enlightening.
I think I wanna make it the same way only grill it together with tomato 🍅 then add Avo and lettuce 🥬 in the end with a Fred egg you break in the end for that ooey goodness. I think Sam redid this sandwich later on and took it up on the flavor scale. I’ve learned a ton on this channel. He is the best.
There was I thinking a fried egg sandwich was egg and bread with a bit of butter and seasoning. That said, it looks fantastic. It just needs a better name.
never heard of this cheese. if this cheese isn't available , what would be your next choice of cheese for this sandwich. I really want to make it. ty so much for the video :)
If a fried egg sandwich has bacon and cheese in it, it is NOT a fried egg sandwich - it is a 'bacon and egg with cheese' sandwich. The best fried egg sandwich does not have mayonnaise. It is simply a fried egg in bread (toasted if you like) smothered in a generous amount of butter (melting) with lots of pepper (black or white) and optional ketchup. I love this recipe, but the name needs to be changed.
Sam: Welcome to 2015! 2015, It's going to be a good year we think. Everybody starts the new year with the vision that everything will be great but the shit happens. 2020: No truer words have been spoken XD.
Two eggs with Colby Jack cheese in between them, Miracle Whip on Sour Dough...I like mine untoasted. I think when you add to many items it ceases to be an 'Egg sandwich'.
Can I tell you something? Sri racha is a town in Thailand, my best friends hometown. It's pronounced "Sri Ra CHA'. 3 syllables, accent third syllable. Now you sound in the know !
It looked tender, which i dont like... i want bacon to be brittle and have that crunch factor... flabby bacon is just for lazy cooks who dont want to cook it properly
+Vasily Leung There's some nice tools in that shop, eh? I want to get a solid spatula, they are awesome. I swear by my cast-iron skillets and my heavy aluminum bakeware, too. Grizzly Tools carries the big three-piece rotating whetstones (3 stones, 3 grits)in an oil bath, very safe to use for sharpening, My chisels, plane blades and spokeshaves all get the same treatment. I use what was called a "steel" to dress up the edge between sharpenings. It looks like a rat tail file with a wood handle , but with fine teeth. It removes any burr and you can "stand up" the edge for razor-sharp cuts.
Looks fantastic. Now waiting for Avocados to come back down in price again. Not sure what is going on as it is June 2019 in San Diego. Small warning: that KewPie Japanese Mayo that Sam loves has Monosodium Glutamate as a main ingredient.
My wife and i just came across your channel a couple of days ago, and wow!! we love it. i actually tried this earlier with sourdough bread, green peppers and onions, american cheese and spinach. amazing!!.
in my opinion you always gotta have that runny yolk, unbroken. + more bacon and no lettuce lol. but that avocado was a clutch choice that probably took it there
Not always... they do this that way in Japan when they place an egg underneath the Hiroshima version of Okonomiyaki. Eggs can be eaten all kinds of ways depending on what you are trying to make.
This is a bacon, egg and grilled cheese not a fried egg sandwich. Looks nice though. Fried egg sandwich is a fried egg in soft white buttered bread, salt and pepper. Done.
Watching in 2019! This guy rocks!
Fernando Gandara yep
Great sandwich! Prefer a runny egg though.
I have to say, this guy makes the best simple comfort foods.
Some people complain about recipes like this as they say, "its far too simple, its hardly a recipe, show us how to butter bread next time", but for me, yes these toasted sandwiches are pretty simple but sometimes we need a reminder of just how good they are, by watching a youtube recipe such as this. Agreed.
He never said other ways is wrong, he just suggests to try it as is because he likes it a lot. And it really does taste good. Its like an ultimate BLT in a way.
Saying don’t use PLAIN bread? to use ANY other more flavourful brand is hurting your feelings?
Food is indeed an art.

Can't believe I just NOW found your channel. Instant subscribe... keep em coming, Sam.
i tried it omg my husband loved it!!!
11:25

Sam’s recipes are DELICIOUS! I can’t tell you how many I’ve tried. But a few of them have honestly become staples in my home.
I often like bacon diagonally on the grill with ground pepper on it. Stays flat and adds a nice flavor.
Will make this sandwich this morning.
My version of the egg sandwitch is good too :
-white bread
-cheddar and gruyere cheese
-cut in quarters knack (4 half cylinders)
-fried egg
-oignon flakes
-sesame seeds
-sriracha
tons of gooinness with the cheese, the creaminess of the yolk, the smokiness of the knack and toasted sesame, and the slight spice of the sriracha, oh man i can't get enough of this one
Are you kidding me right now....? I want this NOW! Lets see...all I have are eggs, Siracha and Kewpie.....time to go shopping...
wholly crap, how long does it take to make an egg sandwich, and you messed up the yolk and heated the lettuce ,...sorry but fail.
"If I had a restaurant, which I don't, this would be on the menu for sure." You have a restaurant now! So is this on the menu at Not Not Tacos? Maybe a fried egg taco???
I added this to my Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Appetizer, and Snack playlists :P
It looks delicious, that is a meal
by itself , you don’t need anything else.
8:57 that egg looked like a simpsons character

One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten
So worth the effort. Truly, a sandwich fit for a king.
Fast forward to 2020, Sam still puts avacado in eeeeeverything
Nothing beats the smell of fresh bread baking....NOTHING!
They mentioned that they went to a bad restaurant that a relative picked. If you were related to Sam the Cooking Guy, why would you not choose to have every meal made by SAM THE COOKING GUY while you were visiting??? Sure, Sam might get a little tired of it, but I wouldn't ;)

0:25 Sam gives us a prophecy about 2020 at the beginning of 2015. Why am I not surprised?
I cannot wait to try this! I would do it now if I had the avocado and bacon on hand.
What do you like most? I don't want to brag, I don't want to boast, I just tell them I like toast, Yeah Toast!
Butter has the best smell throughout the house. Just my opinion.
"If I had a restaurant, which I don't". How long after this was not not?
Goodness that looks really tasty. I learn a lot from Sam's video's. The way he cooked the egg to fit the bread but still have the yoke all the way through is enlightening.
That sandwich look AMAZING!!! Dayum!! i want one RIGHT NOW!! lol.. thanks for sharing!!
Smoke much pot ..?
I think I wanna make it the same way only grill it together with tomato 🍅 then add Avo and lettuce 🥬 in the end with a Fred egg you break in the end for that ooey goodness. I think Sam redid this sandwich later on and took it up on the flavor scale. I’ve learned a ton on this channel. He is the best.
the best egg sandwich is a double decker chill and chutney. under no circumstances break the yolks.
You should double your slabs of bacon in the oven instead of individually. It is way better in the oven, even if its thick sliced
England here, cannot believe you broke the yoke :(
I know the runny yolk is the best part
There was I thinking a fried egg sandwich was egg and bread with a bit of butter and seasoning. That said, it looks fantastic. It just needs a better name.
never heard of this cheese. if this cheese isn't available , what would be your next choice of cheese for this sandwich. I really want to make it. ty so much for the video :)
melting cheese or chihuahua cheese

I love this recipe, but the name needs to be changed.
Agree completely. This sandwich does look damn fine though.
Awesome recipe Sam. Variations on bread, cheese and egg style will keep me coming back to this sandwich on my Saturday mornings.
Sam: Welcome to 2015! 2015, It's going to be a good year we think. Everybody starts the new year with the vision that everything will be great but the shit happens.
2020: No truer words have been spoken XD.
Try putting yellow mustard and sweet relish on your egg sandwich sometime!
I made this and it was so good. I just did not use bacon but I loved this recipie . I think next time I'm going to do a funny egg
Two eggs with Colby Jack cheese in between them, Miracle Whip on Sour Dough...I like mine untoasted.
I think when you add to many items it ceases to be an 'Egg sandwich'.
I think avocado is the core ingredient for the last four Sam videos I have watched. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
Grilled bread beats toaster bread EVERY day
Can I tell you something? Sri racha is a town in Thailand, my best friends hometown. It's pronounced "Sri Ra CHA'. 3 syllables, accent third syllable. Now you sound in the know !
Say you got a new kitchen. Excellent.
Egg sandwich is best if you keep it simple: egg, toast (sourdough was an excellent idea), bacon and, for me, mustard.
and thats why were watching him and not you lol
I bet an avocado coleslaw would work with that too.
Best fried egg sandwich I've ever seen in my life! Thank you Sam.
Watching this in 2020 and going you don’t know the shitstorm coming
I am watching this at 1:25 am as I eat a fried egg sandwich
That looks absolutely delicious! Is your bacon crispy or just tender?
It looked tender, which i dont like... i want bacon to be brittle and have that crunch factor... flabby bacon is just for lazy cooks who dont want to cook it properly
nice well-used Chinese style chopping board
+Vasily Leung There's some nice tools in that shop, eh? I want to get a solid spatula, they are awesome. I swear by my cast-iron skillets and my heavy aluminum bakeware, too. 1:00 he grew up on his eggs😂😂😂😂
Sam's camera guy's "wow" is second only to Owen Wilson himself.
dope ass sandwich
in the uk we get massive loaves of sourdough for just a £1. Baked by Polish in Birmingham.
can't wait to try this!!
I love the channel but I find it amusing that whatever Sam makes is the best ever according to him 👍
1:30am ...realized ...I HAVE BACON AND EGGS IN THE FRIDGE. FINNAALLLYYYYY 😎
Looks fantastic. Now waiting for Avocados to come back down in price again. Not sure what is going on as it is June 2019 in San Diego. Small warning: that KewPie Japanese Mayo that Sam loves has Monosodium Glutamate as a main ingredient.
A world top magician and a cook wow this guy is the full package
Damnnnnnnnnn that looks Real Good 👊🏼👊🏼
It's to late for dinner but im gonna toss and turn all night thinking about having it for breakfast :)
***** No thank you, you're quite obviously not my type.
Japanese mayo mmmmmm magical
Dredge that bacon in brown sugar and black pepper before cooking on a rack.
Try yellow mustard and sweet relish some time, tastes amazing!
Aye make this blt style with tomato pickled peppers and a little bit of brisket or barboacoa would be the best sandwich ever
Woah these comments harsh. I mean he personally may not be my cup of tea personality wise, but his recipes are pretty darn good.
I love your kitchen
Woof.... those youtube comments are rough. that sandwich looks delicious.
Amazing recipe, you just earned a sub:)
My wife and i just came across your channel a couple of days ago, and wow!! we love it. i actually tried this earlier with sourdough bread, green peppers and onions, american cheese and spinach. amazing!!.
Dude, you keep your butter in the cabinet with the plates??
in my opinion you always gotta have that runny yolk, unbroken. + more bacon and no lettuce lol. but that avocado was a clutch choice that probably took it there
Marry me Patron SoF...and Madonna is a puke
Gregor Miller lmaooo okay deal
Anyone who uses the word "clutch" that way should not be considered a legitimate human.
Not always... they do this that way in Japan when they place an egg underneath the Hiroshima version of Okonomiyaki. Eggs can be eaten all kinds of ways depending on what you are trying to make.
I want that, now...thanks Sam.
No. A fried egg sandwich is ALL about the runny yolk. You made an omelette.
Bravo!
Thanks to your videos, I have switched over to sourdough bread. I will never buy regular loaf bread again!!!
Love your show
So am I the only one that likes two types of meats on my egg sandwich? I’d put turkey and tomato on there too.
Inquiring Minds: Video at 12:05 mark ... Sam, you said if you had a restaurant (which you do now), this would be on the menu. Is it?
This is a bacon, egg and grilled cheese not a fried egg sandwich. Looks nice though. Fried egg sandwich is a fried egg in soft white buttered bread, salt and pepper. Done.
You had me at Sriracha. Looks delicious, man. Thanks for sharing!
I love egg sandwiches
I'll take 2 right now please... Thanks
sounds like something id make while stoned
Oh No, Broken toaster. That means toast week is coming up on the new sponsored toaster.
+Jim Wu HAHAHAHAHA!!! He's probably thinking the same thing!!
More mayo and some tomato. Hindsight is 20/20.
I like your kitchen
im making it! haha thx :)
That looks great, but I feel like I want a runny egg.
Sheer perfection!
O WoW.Very good video.i I'll try it.I was ready to make sandwich when at looked at likes.definitly👍
thats a lot of work for one sandwich
make 6 sandwiches then, store un-eaten ones in freezer or give to grandma
It's been 3 years and I still disagree
I would have used Sambal instead of sriracha since i think it doesnt have much flavor, just heat
