Edward Woodward could scare you from the other side of a crowded room, those eyes are legendary. I appreciate Denzel’s version, but Edward Woodward is the BOSS
When I think of The Equalizer THIS is who comes to mind. With all love to Denzel who did a great job with his own version but even he couldn't top Woodward in this role. This series is better than anything on the air or streaming today.
I grew up watching the original equalizer & Edward Woodward will always be the standard for me but Denzel put his own stamp and Queen Latifah has put her stamp on it as well . I like them all.
@@aaronflowers8881 Hey, if you like them that's fine but people have the right not to. Fact is whether the remakes are good or not they almost never live up to the original. Edward Woodward's Equalizer is definitely in that class because nobody can top what he did in that role.
@@eelie5701 I liked the movies with Denzel and tried a few episodes of the Latifah one. I just couldn't take it anymore lol. Way too cookie cutter procedural like. Didn't feel like The Equalizer to me at all more like a NCIS or CSI clone.
With no disrespect intent toward Mr Washington or Queen Latifah, Edward Woodward embodied Robert McCall with just one look. He was a magnificent actor.
Epic, iconic, long-lasting and brilliantly made with a lead actor to die for in Edward Woodward, this was and still is such a superb show and is part of tv history, such high quality writing and alot of energy and love was put into it, " ill being seeing You " ;)
Back then when the equalizer came on I just loved the program with Edward Woodward. As I see 👀it he's a wonderful actor,a very talented man 👨, a handsome man 👨as well. Pretty please bring more episodes of the equalizer back onto the screen. All of your fans would most certainly love it if you did . Edward Woodward told it like it is each, every time. I sure really truly honestly do admire him for the actor he is.
What a great series, starring the great Edward Woodward! And what a clip, featuring one of America’s finest actors, E G Marshall! As a bonus, you get a young Stanley Tucci. Thanks for posting!
Enjoying these clips! Keep them coming!!!! If you could please post more clips with scenes with McCall and Control that would be great!! Also please post clips from the season 3 episode ‘Mission McCall with guest star Robert Mitchum as Dyson. His scenes with Control in Robert’s apartment at the beginning of the episode are awesome!
I loved The Equalizer from back then up until now. Edward Woodward was great and so cool. Denzel added so much to it. I just love him as Robert McCall. Although I think this role is best suited for a man, I admit Queen Latifah is awfully good as Robin McCall. I just love " The Equalizer!"
The REAL Equalizer! The original Robert McCall doesn't need all that fancy ninja-OCD stuff that ol' Denzel uses - he uses phi...phu...pyh - mental sh*t instead! ;-)
I agree. It's just a shame they now have a heifer playing his part. Denzel was good in the part.I won't watch the new series because of the thing that now trys to play the part.
Gotta say that when this show was new, I was young and life was good. There was nothing in my life at that time that could haunt me. This scene actually is kinda comforting to see. Gives a little nostalgia to my day.
Thru the Equalizer Edward joined the pantheon of actors who became irreplaceable in a spy franchise. Connery (007), Graves (Phelps in Mission impossible) Coburn (Flint) Caine ( Harry Palmer) Firth (Kingsman) Vaughn/McCallum (UNCLE) Cosby/Culp (I Spy) etc. come to mind.
The contrast between American and British English is epitomised in "absolyootly" from McCall @ 1:01. Even in Callan, he (Woodward) enunciated crisply accurate dialogue, never a problem understanding him.
I agree , do you know why it’s not on H&I that’s over the air or “free tv” as I call it This was an awesome show, the music was great as well Thank you RGW in NC
@@richardwoolard9804 Yes it was on Forces TV channel sky TV And the series gained a brand new audience but insofar as I know the channel does not exist anymore.
The CBS reboot of the equalizer is nothing but a woke attempt to capitalize on a once great series. What made the show so good was of course Edward Woodward playing the 60+ year old man sticking to all the younger hoodlums RGW in NC

The original concept works. The Englishman (albeit) a very worldly ex intelligence officer, was still incongruous in NY, with the Jag etc. Denzel is great, but the oddity is missing which makes the new film series pretty orthodox.
Back in the day with great actors as guest stars in the Classic Edward Woodward series ,The Queen Latifah series is nothing compared to this series that ran from 1985 to 1989.
I see the millenniums are crowing about Denzil based on one clip, I've seen both and I know who I prefer. But it's down to personal preference and taste, some of us have it, and others don't 😂
@@wilburwood8261 Irrelevant to the point being made. Denzel is a superb actor, no question, but his interpretation of the character pales compared to Woodward's original and best. Just because someone is liked more doesn't make them better, just makes them more popular.

This white man doesn't matter anymore. Denzel has re invented the Equalizer and his movies are the ones that will be remembered the most. This show was horrible. Let's thank the Black Man for making it great
I like Denzel’s portrayal in the movies a lot. However this is The Equalizer I grew up watching.
The original Equaliser.....No remake or subsequent portrayal comes close.....Thank you Mr Woodward........ 👍👍👍👍

You hit the nail on the head well put !.
There is NO DOUBT!! Remember the scene with the corrupt cops!! I WILL NOT FORGIVE!!
exactly how I think
He was no JR Ewing
Love seeing the great Edward Woodward,.
My dad woke me up once and told me to get up to watch somebody who was tougher than Rambo. It was The Equaliser.

The Denzel movies would have been great movies if they weren't The Equalizer. The shoes were too beg to fill.
Denzel was great, but not The Equalizer.
Great on Callan,too
He still is THE equalizer
Edward Woodward...dishing it out like a BOSS!
Edward was really a fine actor. Perhaps a little underappreciated now. Great to be reminded with these clips.
He is buried 3 graves away from my family's grave. Lovely man. RIP x
Just him standing there through the blinds is fucking awesome. What power he and this show had. The one and only Equaliser.
One of my favourite TV show in the 80s.Love

I love how McCall got away with harassment, threats, etc. of enemies of his clients.

The role needs to go to a Brit like the late Edward Woodward it should go to Jason Statham or someone like that as much as I like Denzel Washington.

Richard Jordan
