This episode was absolutely crazy. It's not every day a trillion year old tentacle monster tears through the fabric of the universe to bang, then date and propose to the entire world. I also love Bender's League of Robots subplot. The part where he dropkick his son into the fires of Robot Hell is still one of my favorite scenes in the entire show.
I remember watching this movie with a friend. And when Leela turned off Bender, we definitely noted the plot hole of, "If Bender had an off button, why the hell is this the first time anybody has used it?" Given all the past situations where they totally had reason to do so.
Kind of thought it was weird how quick Fry moved on from Leela after the last movie but at the same time it's hard to blame him when he's been chasing her so long
any show that plays "will they or wont they" is unbearable. They literally cant resolve it so they can only tease it. Only during a finale will they ever get together if ever. Theres literally zero point to ever be invested in sitcom relationships like this. The show is over the moment its resolved.
While not a bad movie, it is definitely the weakest of four. Nonetheless, Bender's final speech was a pleasant surprise which cemented the great moral of the movie
It is absolutely insane that Futurama had a movie where a lovecraftian monster literally rapes everyone in the universe. Absolute bonkers shit, incredibly dark plot
The title is a reference to Shakespeare -- I forget which play, exactly, but I want to say "Othello," wherein the act of lovemaking was termed 'making the beast with two backs'.
The Yvo storyline is just so meh. Like it isn't completely terrible but at the same time it's just not all that great. The rest of the movie isn't so bad, it definitely does have its moments. Futurama definitely does turn out a "meh" episode from time to time though haha.
The beasts name was "Yivo", sounds like a punny name of "Yahweh", well it seemed to be god since it could have sex with humans without them being aware, the same thing happened to Mary 🙂 He could make humans live eternally in heaven and got angry when Fry broke a promise "to not eat the forbidden fruit" and threw them out of heaven, all as written in the bible 🙂 I don't think I'd ever touch an ex girlfriend again if she went to sleep with some1 like Zap, I would forever question myself for her questionable choice in me and it would disgust me 😂
Hey if you ever get the chance I think Moral Orel would be a really interesting show to get you to react to. It starts off as a dark satire comedy about religion and old school values but ends up going into a more dramatic serious tone at the end of season 2. It’s not super popular but it’s had a resurgence of fans and I’d definitely be watching the reaction if you’re worried about views also nice reaction today
Besides being my least favorite of the Futurama movies, this is the only thing they've done that has given me nightmares. It's not I found the movie in the least bit scary when I watched it, but later I dreamed I was being chased by giant tentacles and it was terrifying. Also, I realize that Futurama is not hard sci-fi, and so I've easily accepted some farfetched things in the show, like Hermes not immediately dying after being decapitated and robots turning into were-cars, but the idea that the entire population of the universe could fit on Bender's pirate ship at the end was too much for my suspension of disbelief to handle.
yeah i see what you mean and actually we can see eevo bringing them back on it's tentacule and we can imagine they could have made an express stairway back to earth like he did for bringing them to him
The movie is good. But watching it again (& your reaction), I kinda realize "The Beast with a Billion Backs" is kinda the start of making Zapp Brannigan completely irredeemable. I mean, he kinda was already, but it's gonna get so much worse in the Comedy Central era (it's even the basis for what I think is one of the worst episodes in the series)
I love parts of this movie. But as Futurama goes on there are more and more parts I don't like. A major thing I don't like starts right here. Poor Kif. The Bender subplot is really the only good part of the movie.
I found this to be the weakest of the four films as well (though it is better than I remembered). It's also the only true sequel among them with the other two, essentially being stand-alone stories....
How polyamory was handled was not very perfect, but after rewatching this movie I think, that they did not put the problem in the depictions of the relationships on the poly-part, but rather on Individuals... Colleen was very egocentric and had no interest in communicating with Fry first before starting the relationship - and this is in every kind of relationship essential (communication is key). And Yivo is just the worst! I mean: He took advantage of an entire universe without asking and getting consent (the implications are a horror story for it self!). And then after everyone gets into the relationship with him, he had some big red flags like cutting his partners of from communicating with other universes - a big sign of a toxic partner.
Yeah. The 4 movies as well as the comedy Central run are some of the worst and weakest stories in Futurama in my honest opinion. It feels like they were trying to be Family Guy with gross out humor, randomness, and out of character behavior, when that was never it's selling point at all. Thankfully the current Hulu run feels exactly like a continuation should! 🎉
Nixon: Well that monster's coming and there's no way to stop it, King Kong's too old to save us this time!
Panucci: There's only three REAL monsters: Dracula, Blackula, and Son of Kong!
Or Godzilla himself. The Monsterverse Godzilla would be happy to try.
The beast with a billion backs is a riff on a Shakespearean term. He coined the phrase beast with two backs. It refers to the act of sex. 😅

@@nullakjg767 I don't think that's entirely fair, the last seasons had them together and that led to some great episodes like The Late Phillip J Fry

R.I.P. Brittany Murphy (Colleen)
And Luanne Platter. RIP Brittnay Murphy.
The concept of dating an entire universe is wild this movie isn't the best but it's still super coool and clever.
3:01 You know, that's my Hebrew name and the only name I used until I started college.
I never even considered the similarities between Leela and Ivo. I guess it's more proof that Fry has a type...

not really. humans are already processed for food in futurama. how do you think farm animals are impregenated? hint, its not consensual.
@@nullakjg767 it's crazy that *our world* would make a TV-14 animated movie with that plot. Not that it would happen in their universe.
@@andrewdunn8778 we do that in our universe billions of times a year for food. art reflects life.
It actually explains how robot reproduction works in a later episode.

Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs (2009)
I'd take Death By Snoo Snoo any day..😂😂
Oh yeeeah 😎
22:46 eventually... It will come
Glory be to the tentacle
The next movie is the best one.

You are correct. It was Othello.
lol futurama made an entire movie to display why all poly relationships always fail miserably. 4:00 does it right there.
In fairness, it only failed for Fry. Everyone else in the relationship seemed happy.
@@pcwkid76 Clearly she wasnt, she was looking for anyone but them.
All love the tentacle!

The next two movies are substantially better, this one is widely considered as being the low point of the season.
This one is definitely the weirdest and weakest of the movies, but still good for some laughs.
