Two of my favorite lines from Futurama are in this movie. "Way to ruin the franchise, Bakula!" and "Is that a Hobbit? No, it's a Hobo and a Rabbit, but they're making a Hobbit."
David X Cohen said on the commentary track that he'd been worried that the plot point concerning skyrocketing fuel costs would no longer be relevant by the time the movie came out, but "luckily," at the time of recording, prices were at an all-time high, and now, fifteen years later, it's even more relevant than ever.
Given how long it takes to produce animation, it's my understanding that that's a common concern with cartoons. That in the time it takes to produce the movie, episode, or whatever, certain parts of the script may no longer be topical.
I had my issues with this film too, but it's still fun. Sounds like "Into the Wild Green Yonder" will probably be your favourite as it's a bit more dramatically resonant than the last two films...
In the commentary for the home video release, David X. Cohen said the dodecahedron (the d12) was his favorite polyhedron when he played AD&D (or D&D). The d20 you guessed earlier is an icosahedron.
funny thing about that fry knife commercial is its making fun of a QVC add when they were selling a sword and it broke. look it up,QVC Man Stabs himself with Katana Sword. these movies are the best. the end is sadly coming and ends well.
I've never read Ender's Game, but I did have a friend who read it back in elementary school. And I remember him being obsessed with it, and always giving it exceptional praise whenever it came up.
In the future, owls were brought in to deal with the rat population in New York. Unfortunately the owls wiped out the rats and the pigeons along with them. Taking their places as pest and common park bird.
Haha, i read enders game as a teemager too... i never made the obvious connection though. Ps. Orson scott card has some other good novels too. More in the ender series, the alvin maker series, one called 'enchantment'(i think). And his newer one i havent finished ( gatekeeper series) I enjoy his style of mixing fantasy with reality. Magic in colonnial america, a businessman discovering fairy tale creatures, all mythology and religion is based on magic powers humanity had but lost. Cool stuff
The cutting has been a bit weird for these Futurama movie reactions. Often times, you cut exactly at the moment when a joke has finished - without giving us even a split second of your reaction. example: 01:09 I think you're cutting thins a bit more as a highlight reel for important/funny moments in the episode/movie than you're cutting it as a highlight reel to your reactions. If you have to cut for UA-cam reason, you could black out the footage after the joke and still show us your reaction that you had to it.
If you ever find yourself in Denver, I'll DM for you. I bet I can scoop two others to fill out the party. Everyone deserves to play Dungeons and Dragons lol
Very different movie, pretty fun, but no real consequences when it comes to the lore of the show besides Farnsworth having a son (which is never brought up again sadly)
Inflation is part of the economic system, it is inevitable no matter what happens, but it is ok, the world leaders can just say there is more money and there is, after all we made up the idea of money, and as long as people want more of something there will be inflation I played a lot of tabletop rpg when I was a kid, played dnd now for a couple of years online, it is fun even though the adventures can take a veeeery long time since there isn't as much time to play as when one was a kid 🙂 Not my fav of the movies even though I love the fantasy setting, I still like it best when the stay somewhat in the Futurama universe 🙂
Not a huge fan of this one myself with how all over the place it is and how shallow the pop culture references are. Thankfully the next movie is better. Igner being a son of the professor also unfortunately goes nowhere.

13:06 “Well, I never expected Fry to ride Leela” Well played, Well… played.
In the Robot 1-X episode he was being reprogrammed to like the robot so it could have been an implanted simulation rather than his imagination.
The opening sequence refers to the Beatles’ movie Yellow Submarine- the music, the animation style, and of course the yellow ship.
I love all the D&D elements in this one, and how creatively what's actually happening in real life parallels the game.

We’re owl exterminators :)
10:12 how did he know nibbler had been blanking their memories?
Fun fact, the voice reading the numbers when they roll the dice, is David X Cohen. Co creator of the show
23:20 yeah... In the future 😶

The 1-X episode was a program that injected simulation to help work with that machine but it wasn’t Bender invoking his old imagination from his will
Indeed. It was more akin to a hallucination, than imagination.
"That humblest of all God's creatures: The Tyrannosaurus Rex."
Gary Gigax must be proud of this one, I love the Jetsons reference on this movie
2:31 yep, that was my face expresion too
he unfortunately passed away before it's release. It's dedicated to him, though.
@@kjgfdsa3577 so the last time we see him is "Anthology of interest I"

RRRRRRRREDNECKS!!!!!! Not often Katey Sagal gets to go completely ham like that, I appreciate that you appreciated that moment. 😂
Eat the Wizard, eat the $lut, eat the robots shiny butt!"
A chant we all can't stop saying. 😂
20:09 “Okay! Mr. Johnson’s up! Girl on girl! So hot!”
Nibbler seems to have returned after he ate himself to escape the universe in Bender's Big Score, without an explanation or questions being asked.
Love this movie. The scenes in the game world are so much fun.
I have a feeling the last movie will be your favorite.
Let's not forget about that special moment Amy and Leela had

14:22 Why all non violent societies without standing militaries fail lol.
Great reaction!
it wasn't all the niblonians that got captured by mom, only the ones on that planet
Good News everyone
2:32 Looks like your editor forgot to remove the watermark when zooming in. 😅
were owl exterminators
Cornwood!
Futurama Season V: Bender's Game (2008) Part 1 & 4
I had _never_ realised before that the movie's title is an Ender's Game reference/pun.

After this movie my dislike for Dr Zoidberg became hate the creator did such a good job for making him terrible
My favorite of the four movies

No consequences? Dark matter is no longer a viable fuel source. That’s a huge consequence. The transportation industry has come to a screeching halt.
