2. M Performance (M240i) - S (S3)
3. M Sport (220i) - S-Line (A3 S-Line)
1. All out performance.

“Quattro” merely denotes a model as AWD, and is not a performance badge at all. S and RS are Audi’s performance badges.
Audi's high performance division was Quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH), so it pretty much made sense why some people may see it as a performance badge. Heck, their legendary rally car is the Audi Quattro S1 :v
They seemed a bit clueless when it came to audi actually. The RS is Audi's true performance badge.
@@MarshalBeard Well a long time ago, Quattro was synonymous with Audi performance. The legendary rally car was literally named the Audi Quattro S1.
Razvan Mihalache Because it had that drivetrain... Seriously, Audi can’t help it if people are too stupid to understand the difference between a performance badge and just a plain old drivetrain because the name of that drivetrain was sYnoNyMoUs with their race team. For part 2, TRD should be included. It’s been diluted an ok amount, TRD US is heavily diluted, but TRD is still making very good aftermarket parts for Toyota’s road cars, such as a lot of their parts for the ZN6
It's now Gazoo Racing (GR) which is mostly performance based
Check out GR sport (Not GR, but GR sport). Absolute shitshow
@@romiarkan450 no idea why I never replied, but technically they aren’t the same. GR existed as a separate brand in the mid 2000’s, and they helped Lexus with the LFA when Toyota themselves didn’t really want to take part. They also had their own race team. But since they have started to become super competitive with their GR team, Toyota started picking them up (since GR literally had Akiyo Toyoda as their boss), and since then they have kinda pushed aside the TRD name and it’s more of a joint between the two, which is weird because (at least for the ZN8 chassis) TRD has parts labeled as TRD yet have a GR badge on them.

Exactly. RS, S and Quattro mean something performance wise. S line is the cosmetics package.
I drive an B8.5 S4 and I cringed when he mentioned Audi
Yeah, but S Line is distintcly a appearance package. It doesn't say S on the back of an A4 with a S Line package, it only says it on trims, seats and such. Also wouldn't find an S Line badge on a S or RS.
But on the other side even i'm not sure what the hell were they smoking when they made SQ's.

In addition to some other performance badges mentioned in other comments, you also forgot Lexus' F Sport. It's kind of a mixed bag, ranging from the true performance of models like the IS F and LFA, to some light performance and cosmetic upgrades to models like the IS 350, to a cosmetic-only trim level on models like the CT 200h. Generally, the rule is that, when an "F" replaces the usual 3-digit number in the model name, that's a true performance car (like a BMW M3), while the F Sport package or trim level is a lesser upgrade that usually doesn't affect power/acceleration (like BMW's M Performance or M Sport).
I don't see how that is a watering down, as many people think. Since the IS F or LS F are still F cars, other ones are not F cars, but merely, F-styled cars. Like the bmw M-sport doesn't claim to be an M car, just M-styled. To me that still keeps the M badge intact, since M and M-style is, at least to me, clearly different

I haven't exactly kept up with all audi engines since I got rid of mine, but for a long time the a4 has the 2L turbo the s4 had a 3L supercharge and the rs had a twin turbo v8
s4 still has the 2.0 i4, the s4 gets a 3.0 V6 Turbo now, and the rs4 now gets a 2.9 twin turbo charged V6@@nicholasgindulis9894
My neighbour has an X3 with an M badge. And it's a diesel. Folks tell me that M,AMG and RS badges had a lot of exclusivity in the 90s and early 2000s. Not now though.
Explorer ST is one of the most badass SUVs to actually drive. Total sleeper at over 400HP. The best tech anywhere.
TRD, most used "sport badge" in toyota manufacturing line
TRD is trash. In my country TRD cars are only with decals and shitty aftermarket fenders and bumpers
Toyota tRuck Development
TRD is absolutely soiled. It went from a respective small-time brand into a decal store and cheap sideskirt vendors. Literally almost every Toyota crossover, sedan and hatch on the street has a TRD decal or "parts"
I'm a huge Toyota fan, and you're absolutely right. A long time ago, TRD used to stand for something - now that badge is on half the Tacomas I see.
Here we have "TRD Sportivo" badged Toyotas which only add decals and hideous rims
INFINITI: S MEANS BIGGER RIMS AND A COOL BADGE
KAKE and maybe a 100 more horses if the S is red
bigger brakes but yeah I own Infiniti that's about
meh, a bit more than that, but nothing extravagant.
The Infiniti you'd want is called "RevUp". HR engines instead of DE.
Red edition or whatever its called is halfway decent
Toyota has been putting the GR badge on some asian specific eco box like the Vios.
The Vios GR Sport has a CVT and no additional horsepower, suffice to say it was a let down
Less history lessons more up to date useful info. Great content tho, keep it up

as the owner of a focus st, i had a mini heart attack when you mentioned st in the intro lmao
Tbh the Fiesta ST is one of my favorite cars to drive. And its cheap to boot. I didn't like the focus ST as much because of the weight. Also I think hes a little hard on the Edge ST as it has an engine option which is only available to ST and makes it quiet a bit quicker than the regular Edge ST. Not SRT grand cherokee vs regular difference but still
@@GamingwithIinfected I think the engine in the edge st was previously available in the edge sport. I dont know for sure though.

you forgot quadrifoglio, and you shouldn't have! Hands down, the best badge in the industry
That's part of Alfa Romeo's heritage no? Like they put it to honor one of their racers, who's luck changed after drawing the clover on the car
Your own an alfa?
@[Removed] I own one myself, I just figured since the alfa community is generally retarded and rather annoying that he might be one of them
And F Sport

I remember seeing a Nismo Juke at the dealership I laughed.... I almost test drove it to see how fast it was
I drive the Renaultsport clio that has the same 1.6L turbo out the nismo juke and it is pretty fast, unsure what the juke is like as it's a bit heavier but should still be quite quick
The Nissan Juke Nismo RS is ok, it's got 215 hp at 6k and 210 lb-ft. While the Sentra Nismo on the other hand has the exact same power output as the SR turbo. SMH, they have to make a RS version for the sentra, at least give it more than 200 hp for god's sake.
Wasn't there one that did a 3.5 or 3.9 0-60?
@@mkl0011 that was a special version with a gtr engine
@@_______3678 Was just about to say, don't confuse the Juke Nismo with the Juke R (the one with the GT-R engine)
You should really include Opel "OPC" performance badge here. Opel still use this badge only on cars that specifically came from "Opel Performance Center" and besides their sporty look, they perform like race cars as well.
OPC will be discontued in 2023 and the new performance badge GSe (Grand Sport electric) will replace the OPC brand.
I have an elantra nline, not terribly different from the gt sport, still love the car, styling is a bit different, 6sp manual, good power, ton of fun to drive, plus (when its available outside of korea) there are a factory performance/styling upgrade that looks like it will make the nline closer to the beautiful i30 n.
I think Audi actually does 'performance' badges better than most brands. Clear tiers between A>S>RS and S Line to me implies that you get what most people notice from these higher end vehicles, without having to worry about more stringent upkeep
Same opinion here. Audi kept it quite clean and found a way to make good extra bucks by offering a more sporty trim for normal cars.
A S or RS Logo will only be found on the performance cars. On exterior and interior. Else it always states SLine without mentioning the specific car either.
Biggest commitment goes actually to the RS exhaust which is always oval for like ever since the RS Models exist.
I just want a Mustang with the King Ranch trim.
Chris Gonzalez honestly that’s is a great idea!
How about a Camry TRD... oh wait it is a stripped down XSE with plastic.
That'd be dope actually

@@joelf1355 Check out the 2020 Avalon TRD - it actually looks badass
Since around 2020 BMW have made M packages standard or the only option on the higher trim levels. Before on the F30 you could have the 340i now on the G20 you can only get the M340i at a much higher price.
Thankyou for not pulling any of the usual bullshit while promoting the sponsor, Nolan your an angel. I subsequently don’t have a headache.
Y’all didn’t include F-sport and every single Lexus has a f-sport trim and has only better brake pads and stiffer suspension and looks
gx 460 does not include a fsport option nor the lx 570 or ls500
That still means a performance upgrade dip shit!
RAID3R63 they do offer it for the LS and the GX
Fred Williams in the context of the video f-sport fits to exactly to what the video talks about, it may offer a tiny barley recognizable performance bump.
@@RAID3R63 Funny enough the GX does have a F-sport spec, it's literally just a wheel option. I get about 1 a week at my dealership.

I thought Quattro was the 4WD system?
So did I , am I missing something
It is...
what he is trying to say it that audi put the quattro badge on some small cars in order to make buyers think, *oh, audi quattro? that super fast rally car? man i can't believe this tiny A3 is related to the audi Quattro.* in the end buyers assume they are buying some insane performing vehicle when actually it's just a awd/4wd system.
I think it's because Audi Quattro (AWD) vehicles were specifically made for rally racing and now they decided to mass produce standard 4 wheel drive cars/SUVs with a Quattro badge to show it's all wheel drive and the S line for performance models
yeah you're right, I agree with them saying that S-line cars are "rip-offs" but Quattro just means AWD/4WD, as Xdrive for BMWs or 4Matic for Mercs, and now it is named "Audi Sport GMBH" (since 2016), great research Donut Media.
I worked at a Ford dealership in reconditioning, almost every Explorer sold was an ST for awhile
I took my e46 325xi into a BMW dealership a few years ago for an airbag recall (only time I would ever set foot at a dealer TBH); the guy gave me a ride back home in an M-badged SUV and was trying to pitch it to me about how awesome it was. I think the Camaro RS is an honorable mention. It used to mean Rally Sport and now it means Really Slow.
the BMW that was mentioned isnt as bad as it seems like. the regular 2 series has 184 HP while the shown m240i has 374 HP this is in my Oppinion a big difference. And completly fine if you dont want the stiffness of an M2 or M2 competition. The M package on the other hand is mostly a design thing if you like the looks of an M car. @@AK.__ Uh, not sure if you skipped his hyundai portion but he is kinda clear that the N badge is worth it, and I can say so far that the N Line is as well
@@Cooneyman27 That's OK, the "N" is still new, but proven. The N-line is also new, and hopefully will be good. Just the general idea was, that the manufacturers, together with true-performance (relatively their cars) badges, started to put "performance-like" badges, by mostly modifying exterior look of the base model and some upgrades, like wheels/brakes/suspension. So the N-line, similar to S-line isn't really bad, but created to fill the gap between performance and base, charging extra money and not damaging the sales of the performance cars.
The X2 M35i has 80 more hp than the base model. Not to mention brakes and suspension bits. My wife drives one and it's a ton of fun. She wanted a hatch with a little more space, decent handling, and power.
