Getting the set for X-mas (ahem, for the wife) and this was great info. I'm no metallurgist but I know what I like.
DLC is pretty for gun parts and is supposed to make them last longer, but starting with good metal is something manufacturers should be putting out there.
N690 vs 1095 Cro-Van was the debate for the last knife I got. Learning the fun way.
    Again, great info.

I’m not sure I hold the 14-deg grind that well. Am I screwing up my blade by sharpening my 15500 between trips back to the factory?

It's hard to replicate the precision and performance of SelectEdge at home. You can re-sharpen at home with good results, but you won't won't get the same performance as a fresh factory edge. If you can, try to use an angle-guided sharpening system to get as close as possible to the factory process.

I think he got a little carried away when using the Meat Crafter knives. It only makes sense.

Why is Benchmade so focused on fixed blades all of a sudden? I don't get it. It's like they are ignoring the folders now which has to be their bread and butter business wise. Strange.

Bench made and all knives will be next to be banned. Then a hammer company will be used to cut up knives and so on and so on.
