The dude is voluntarily walking into the police department and tells them that he had the knowledge, the material and the opportunity to commit this crime, and then complains that police did not put enough effort in screening other potential suspects? :D
Do you understand what "circumstantial" means? Like his body language in that video clearly shows he's lying, while his speaking shows he thinks he's getting away with it, these are not actual evidence that he did it, just an indication that he probably has something to hide and thinks he's smart.
When I saw the clip of the police interview I thought He's lying because of his body language but I was not impressed by the evidence presented against him for a life sentence.
Same. If I had to guess he sounds guilty, but no way the evidence they presented proved “beyond a reasonable doubt” that he was. We’re not supposed to be convicting people based on what they “most likely” did.
@@johnrcornellagreed. I hope he gets another chance at justice; not that I know either way, but I’m quite sympathetic to Steven’s defense team saying that the prosecution was more interested in convicting him than finding the true perpetrator - seemed they were looking for evidence to make it fit (and found a lot of weak evidence)
Did you watch just this video or did you also listen to the 66 witnesses that were present in the trial? There will always be a ton of evidence (and counter-evidence) missing from videos like this, I'd be hesitant to jump to any conclusions
Yeah, if some random person had created and used the bomb, would the trial look any different? Obviously seems likely it’s him but I think there is plenty of reasonable doubt
It is disturbing that the prosecution did not find any evidence that they didn't present at the first trial and then used theatrics to get a convition in the second trial. That doesn't seem right to me somehow.
I'm strongly biased against the State. You need an airtight case to prosecute. What we've seen lately is forging evidence (Keith Davis case), destroying evidence (Davis again), hiding evidence (Alec Baldwin case), possibly coercing confessions (the plea bargain with the suspected 9/11 terrorists-that bargain gets the State out of having to explain torture and coercion in court, which could get the prosecutor's case thrown out). These kinds of shenanigans should be automatic dismissal. Instead, we've gone the other way. A SCOTUS justice was impeached once, with the first article being he told a jury they had to judge facts and not the law; it's not a jury if it's not judging the law; now judges routinely give this illegal jury instruction. When juries kept finding not-guilty for cases of clear premeditated murder, instead opting to convict for manslaughter, the government started screening jurors and ensuring they only selected those who supported the death penalty-and people who support the death penalty are also more likely to give weight to the prosecution in a capital case. Prosecutors can remove jurors for being biased against the prosecution, which itself defeats the purpose of a jury-if I got sat on a jury with Mosby prosecuting you better believe I'd just find not guilty, she spent years faking and destroying and hiding evidence trying to convict someone of murder, I can't trust any evidence she's bringing. Japan let this shit get out of hand. They have a 99% conviction rate. Do you think the police arrest the right person 99% of the time?
Americans love these recreations. The blood splatter ones are the most insane to me. They try dozens, some times hundreds of times, all the while taking pictures and then start combing through the pictures in order to find the ones that fit better with the crime scene.
I don't understand how more people aren't concerned about that. Then they have the balls to say they had the right guy all along. I don't know how they could truly say or think that with nothing but speculative "evidence".
“You have the right to remain silent.” This dude went the opposite of this and straight up went to the police with no request to come and placed himself straight on their radar.

Extremely weak motive. He wanted to help them with the case and thought he could because he makes rockets. In hindsight he was foolish, but I don't believe he made the bomb. It probably never occurred to him that he'd be a suspect, as he had no motive (he didn't care about the others).
Right when I heard Stephen first talk I had a gut feeling that it was him. Just the way he talked about the situation it’s like he had already come to terms with something as crazy and as random as an explosion. Bro had a eulogy ready for her and everything. I think someone would still be in shock and confused if someone passed away like that. But he had already like a retrospective tone about it. He had gone through all six stages of grief within a day.
As a criminal law lawyer (that’s practiced on both sides) I’d love to see the transcript of arguments to get in that “reconstruction” video since it’s pretty speculative in nature, and it’s definitely prejudicial to the defendant. I’m not saying the ruling is wrong since I don’t practice is federal court, but I would just like to know more. Generally, the courts keep out things that only “enflame the jury”, and the jury has already seen the result of the blast. Yes, it shows he possessed chemicals capable of a similar explosion, but the structure was much much smaller, and no one knows how much of each chemical went into the bomb. Again, he could be guilty as hell, I’d just like to know more.
I feel the same. They only added a video of a wooden cabin exploding. I'm in no means a lawyer, but i think that is not really a evidence for anything, exept for Police having fun bombing a wood cabin.
same thought here. I do think he is guilty, but the demonstration should be thrown out of court - it's a visual gimmick that isn't a proof of anything but looks good and was made to impress the jury
I feel the same way. Based on the evidence shown in the video I feel confident saying Beal did it, but not confident enough to say so beyond reasonable doubt. There were several people for whom you could argue a motive. There is no evidence linking him or a package from him to the scene that day. I'm sure the defense also argued that you don't need three IEDs to kill one person, so the existence of two at his home doesn't definitively prove anything. Also, model rockets like Beal built as a hobbyist are launched by a series of sustained explosions and it shouldn't surprise anyone that similar, if not the same, materials could be used to trigger a one-off detonation. Again, none of that is to say he didn't do it (I certainly think he did), only that the defense team successfully introduced reasonable doubt to the jury while the prosecution had no smoking gun.
@@skeksis1085 Yeah, and the rocket stuff and knowledge isn't that suspicious in my opinion. Dude had a hobby, that happens. So, a nerdy guy had an ex who also saw other dudes. Maybe he is in fact guilty, but the evidence seems lacking. Too many other possible suspects. Too many ways to build this bomb.
The first jury did not reach a verdict. Until there is a unanimous verdict either for conviction or acquittal, the trial is not complete, so is declared a mistrial. Retrials in such cases are not double jeopardy and are not unusual for serious crimes.
@@GH-oi2jfto have a “hung” jury is unusual. It is far more likely to have the outcome be guilty or innocent. Upon a hung jury a person can be retried until the cows come home.

I have done work in that building on Mareblu in Aliso Viejo. One day I was driving by Mareblu and the whole street was closed off. Yellow tape, police everywhere. I asked some one near there what had happened. They said a bomb had gone off. I immediately called my sister who was actually living in our childhood home now that our parents had passed away 3 houses from Beal. She informed me that our old cul-de-sac was closed off and the FBI, Orange County Sherrif, ATF ETC, were searching Beal's house. I said "What's going on down there"? She informed me that her neighbor, Beal was under investigation for the very bombing I was talking about. I was very confused. It is disturbing that the prosecution did not find any evidence that they didn't present at the first trial and then used theatrics to get a convition in the second trial. That doesn't seem right to me somehow.
You would be right about that! Crazy I thought that wasn’t legal to do a retail like that
I'm strongly biased against the State.
They did breeze right through about what happened in the second trial, so there's probably a lot more too it than what was shown.

Same lol
But thanks for providing a nice framework of skepticism that we can all use to benefit our lives.

Lots of online diagnosis of narcissism. Seems alot of people have been traumatized by someone.
LOL You speak like "some" people have Narcissism... NO! EVERYBODY has an Ego!!! It's the amount of "feeding" that you give the ego that makes you a Narcissist! And you have to feed your ego anyways... What kind of person you will be if you don't love yourself??? You can't go through life without something to grab onto... What.. You're going to say to yourself "I'm bad", "I'm useless", "I'm not good enough",... Every day??!?!? That would send you into the most Depressive Hole EVER!!! There's good amounts of ego and there's bad amounts bro.. And you can't have too much of one!!! It's a BALANCEEEEEeeeee. That's the problem with these people... They don't know WHEN to step back. Because yeah, it's like a DRUG and hardwired into humans brain!!! Some won't resist the Temptation... Who doesn't like Fame, Attention, Love, Recognition, Respect,.... Alllll those goody things??? Maybe one day, as you're older and you've seen enough of the 'ropes and wires of reality'... Those things won't mean anything to you!.... But it will mean to other people!!!! It means specially for kids and children btw... I remember being a kid and NOBODY gave 2 sh*ts about me. I mean... My parents did but that gets old fast you know. And it wasn't only with me... Happened with a LOT of kids too! I think we do a TERRIBLE job with kids. But anyways... That's was a tangent sorry... But yeah, you can't dismiss this and let it fly over your head!!! People need to be educated about the dangers of the psychological-social Dynamics!!! Actors, Musicians, Politicians, Policemen,... EVERYONE is on the line man!!!

Ah.. "narcissism" - one of the most overused, and incorrectly used, words we see online.
Ildicko should have opened a chain of stores. She was working really hard to make sure the customers came first and she always tried to get the biggest tips. Always wanted to go out with a bang ‼️ She was a huge success and other women would do well to model their business after hers. 💥😵
So many of these narcisistic killers talk the same way. Its hard to explain.
Focus on themselves
Only mentions others as they relate to them (their wants, their needs)
Talk in circles and overly complex syntax to confuse rather than clarify
He was smiling and acting so casual. Instead of acting disturbed that she was dead.
They love teaching.
@@joanforest2434Why would he be disturbed, she was his ex, presumably he moved on. People die and as you get older you're going to know a lot of people who die. He was old enough to have been through a lot.
@@joanforest2434Were you distraught when you found out she died?
Just FYI: Magyar is pronounced “mahd-yar”. It’s Hungarian. Ildiko should be “Ill-di-ko” 😬 neat video otherwise! Thanks for covering this 🎉
The worst part about this video was having to watch him “”””””act””””””.
Prisons are filled with people who thought they were smarter than everyone.
his acting was actually pretty good
His acting was great, but he put the spotlight on himself in more ways than one.
@@QuantumVirusWhat? His cop role 'this is spiraling out of control' part was dreadfully acted.
If you watch the 'That Chapter' video on this case, he actually spends a fair bit of time pitching a screen play to the investigators. One of the investigators was out when he did it, so when he came back he pitched it again. He is unbelievable.
One thing is for sure, that stand-up bit BOMBED!
nice one
This is a strange one. It’s not unusual for women to collect lots of simp orbiters that they string along but never sleep with. In her case it appears that she not only collected orbiters but that she slept with all of them as well. She obviously had a problem wherein she couldn’t say no to any attention she received from random strangers.
“Simp orbiters”, great term. Stealing.
I'd like to have asked this jerk, "How could you be so sure Ildiko would be the one to open the box?" She could have been busy and said, "Hey, would you mind opening this for me?" It's plausible.
I thought it was said that the package was left in her office on her desk while she was on vacation..
@@jeanniepayne8769 There is a chance someone else could've opened it regardless of where it was left.
That's the risk he took
Maybe she thought there was a Dick in it?
@giggiity easy. Just mind your own business and don't open a box that's on your bosses chair in her office? Don't ask her "hey u have a package want me to open it?" Easy
Why the hell would this guy ever go in and say all this? Truly baffling
Narcissism… psychopath-
guilty conscience
@@MrDylanHoleI think he just wanted to brag about what he had done. Typical narcissist.
Clearly it was to test the upcoming routine. Hey guys, you’ve seen as much of the scene as I have - what do you think of this? Instead of Ildeko, I’m thinking about taking some creative liberty and in the bit I’ll call her ill-dick-o - get it?? You know how many dudes she was with, right?!?!?
Typical idiot @@jiggnorth3593

I grew up in a house 3 house down the street from the Beal house. It used too look like all the other houses built in the 1950's. I worked for AT&T in South Orange County for 20 years. It took us a minute or two to realize we were talking about the same event. Needless to say, I took the following day off and went down to Long Beach and watched the commotion. The old guy interviewed about Beal building rockets was Mr. Westerhoff. He has scince passed. I'd known him since 1962. Just a note: Beal's first wife died in that house under very suspicious circumstances.
That's interesting to know, he had another woman die, that was connected to him. 🤔
@@kevinl3235 Yep. Apparently, they found elevated levels of lead in her body during a toxicology analysis and he wouldn't cooperate with medical staff during the procedure. He also won a 1/2 million dollar settlement from the insurance company for her accidental death.
You can't leave that last line hanging there! What circumstances?
@@kevinl3235Well considering this is one of several of his direct neighbors, I'm going to say it's probably not true...
@@kevinl3235Ok so I did a little digging and found out his first wife died of natural causes. There was an accident where she fell down some stairs while they were moving furniture, but she didn't blame him for that accident and he took her to many doctors trying to get her help. You might want to read up on it yourself, because that was difficult to summarize properly and I had to leave out so many details...
Wow for such a smart guy he sure did go into the police department and ask about the case and tell them he’s always been obsessed with building rockets 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I want to know why she felt the need to have all of these affairs and why she chose this very disturbed man. Sorry, Ildiko.
"The 2018 death of Ildiko Krajnyak, 48, came roughly a decade after Beal’s wife died in what an official said at the time was a 'mysterious case.'"
Probably don’t get this a lot but love the little small details that you add to editing including the glass cracking effect on 5:28
She sure worked her way through many men.
Oh man. I remember when this happened. I live a couple cities over. I don't recall hearing the updates on this event. Thanks for the video.
Ya know, I’m subscribing. I’m still relatively young & the other crime channels with the narrator who has the dramatic, deep voice, with the eerie music in the back are not my faves bc they creep me out lol. So I appreciate you for talking regularly & not adding the unnecessary ominous music.❤️
