they should have made the ship combat work more like startrek where you command and fly the ship but your other crew also help with other angles of your ship, so i like the idea of a VATS system, it could function like your crew are doing these things, but it's really the player doing everything.

That's what happens when ten years of DEI staffing finally catches up with you... It doesn't matter how hard the employees work if they lack talent, experience, creativity, a love for the IP or respect for the player base.

Dude, Bethesda is known for *not* hiring new people and for basically using the same crew to make each game.
The merits of DEI or lack thereof aside, this isn’t an example: Bethesda’s people working on this game have mostly been there for way longer than ten years.

i agree, a lot of the clutter in these games is just useless trash, there is no reason to pick it up, it's not like fallout where you need every resource collected because everything was useful, they might as well do what Elinora does in her mods, where she creates the esthetic of an object it's essentially a picture that you might be able to interact with but it's mostly just a picture of an item that doesn't exist as a clutter item in the game location.
it makes no sense to pickup something useless only to store it somewhere that just bogs down your inventory space, but it also doesn't really make sense to keep the clutter objects in the game for the most part either because they are nothing but useless clutter causing issues in your game that also end up bogging down your game's performance.
it reminds me of FO4 if you kill an enemy they drop their weapon separate from their inventory, well as it turns out, these objects are left in the game if not picked up and if enough battles take place in the game they end up destroying not only your performance in the location but they also cause save bloat which can become a major issue down the road in your save game, so they have had modders who have just made fixes to make it so these weapons exist inside the NPC inventories so when the game cleans up corpses it also cleans up all of these objects to prevent issues down the road in game.

I'm going to laugh so hard if, a year or two after the Creation Kit 2 comes out, some modder creates real flight in solar systems. Flying down to a planet? Probably not. But maybe being able to fly from one planet to another in a solar system. Bethesda isn't Hello Games. They are driven more by profit margins than actual love for a game. We'll probably get the DLC they are working on, 2 or 3 little things like building a space station home, customize a land vehicle, and maybe some new things to build on an outpost. Then they will ditch the game like they did with Skyrim after the Dawnguard DLC. Fans were excited to see what they would make after Dawnguard, but found out Bethesda was moving on. Yet here we are, 13 years later and they are still tinkering with Skyrim because "We want to sell mods for easy money."

you said something i didn't know, i didn't know bethesda said that this was the last game they were using the creation engine for.
i think they will keep using it for the older games when it comes to the creations store for FO4 skyrim and such, but if they use Unreal, i could see this either becoming better or worse, because simply moving to a new engine doesn't solve every issue that bethesda has.

the load screens can't really be fixed, however they can sort of be hidden, via gameplay like so many other games do these days, like even Hogwarts legacy uses loading screens, but they do it in a very cleaver way like most games do, but bethesda have been lazy to use this method, they did them back in FO4 when it came to using most of the elevator's in the game, so they can make it feel seamless, it just won't be without load screens per say.
but that kind of thing requires some serious coding for every entrance unique or otherwise and some stuff that helps hide them better, but that only solves one small issue in their game, they are going to have to figure out the whole flying thing, and i know they can sort of make this work, but with the proc gen planet locations this can get messy and it's more than likely they aren't going to fix this, the drivable vehicles is on the way and to be frank it will look very jank when it comes out, because putting wheels on any object in a bethesda game looks very poor quality, they would be better off having the vehicle sort of float, because the wheels make it look jank to all hell.

This game has no soul. A bit like the new starwars trilogy, for similar reasons.
Because clearly there were too many people with different ideas, probably not communicating enough, and on top of that some decisions from management to make it safe and bland.
They have not tried to inovate in any way, for example reusing the dialog camera from 2006 Oblivion, reusing the fallout lasergun (and even taking terms like "chems").
And even regressed actually, for example having way less traversal than previously.
You can also find this comitee made safe and bland style in the universe, quests and companions.
You end up with an inconsistent universe; a group wanted "NASAPunk", and the ships, or the city on Mars show that.
But someone has probably rewatched Firefly, realized it is awesome, so wanted Starfield to have a cowboy style, so we ended up with a cowboy city.
And another got jalous of Cyberpunk, so they added a cyberpunk city.
Said city BTW is the most obvious offender; We hear that drug is doing ravages, but we don't see the addicts lying on the street. We enter a nightclub, but they replaced the exotic dancers by ridiculous dudes with spantex alien costumes.
Really those dancers should have made the cover of Starfield, because they are what represent this game the most.

I don't really understand all the hate. I love the game. is it the best it can be? no. is it good enough, yes. I have over 500 hours on the game I've never had a bug that kept me from completing any of the quests. I've had the game on day one. I did not preorder. big fan of no man sky, mass effect, outer worlds etc. there are no perfect games. all of them have flaws. I've been gaming sense the early 90s. I've played every Bethesda title with the exception of 76 because I don't really like multiplayer titles. multiplayer communities are too toxic. My buddies and I were doing multiplayer way back in the dial up days. hauling are desktops to one of our houses to set up a LAN party. ah the days of warcraft and counterstrike. when DSL came out and true online multiplayer gaming started to take off, we were excited. but the online gaming communities quickly turned into toxic assholes. We still play online now a days but only if we can setup a privet server with just us old timers lol. I also don't understand people complaining about performance. It runs on best settings never dips below 60fps. I run it on 2 different machines. an i9 Desktop with an RTX 4070 and a AMD Ryzen Laptop with a RTX 2070 mobile. both run great and the load times between scenes is only 2 to 3 seconds. sometimes the load time is so fast the load screen doesn't even get a chance to show.

Because it's basically nothing like what was promised - it's an exploration game with no exploration - everything EVERYwhere is a boring generic proc gen building already explored and full of *generic spacer bad guy" - there are no aliens, dialogue is crap, 80% of the skill tree is useless, quests and dialogue are bland, badly written, and have ZERO impact on the world - everything in the game feels like it's on pause until you, the player, enter the scene - it's a boring, dead world with NPC's that really FEEL like NPC's - the main story is stupid and doesn't make sense - crafting is a miserable slog - junk items are now useless and not worth picking up - EVERY aspect of the game is a boring, grinding, dumbed-down version of something from a previous bethesda game, but worse. so the modder your talking about was one dude, not the entire modding community, why people keep thinking he represented all modders is beyond comprehension stupid thinking.
people have been modding this game since launch and have been improving the game in more ways than one, they made over 1,000 mods in the first month on the nexus and they keep making them constantly, however if you talk with the modding community you will understand right quick they would be making far better mods if bethesda had the kit ready for them at launch, because this means the mods they are making are severely less capable of fixing the issues because they need the creation kit to do these things and bethesda have still not released the kit.
so people are just at the whims of Bethesda's slow fixes and these mods that do fix some things, it's just it would be better if the modders had access to the kit so they can really fix the game, part of the reason why they haven't gotten the kit is due to bethesda releasing this game when it was clearly not ready and the other part is likely more of an ego thing, they don't want to be accused of being lazy and having all the modders fix their games like always within their reputation, so i don't expect them to release the kit until they really finish fixing the game, and that could be up to 3 years from now, like it took cyberpunk almost 3 years before they allowed their game to be modded and creating the tools for the community to mod the game.

The mods that are being made don't fundamentally change the game. They don't improve it. Oh you build bigger bases or oh you can land on earth or Venus and they are being restored.
None of those create new quests change the boring old ones. Create a new better ending. Get rid of most loading screens Create new factions. Making earth so it isn't a desert any more. That s fine. Making Venus into a jungle you can land on thats fine.
I don't think the creation kit will do much at all Because of the game's problems.if you are expecting a skyrim like creation kit that won't be happening.

i highly doubt modders would focus on these things you listed anyway, lol, most people want bethesda to fix these things, while they make mods that improve the game in other ways.
and i'm not really sure what you mean by skyrim levle of mods, the mods released for skyrim are nearly identical for the mods we see in every fallout game or elder scrolls game, some people might try to make their own factions or quests and that we do see in skyrim, but their is always less to be seen or the mods aren't quite as fleshed out.
look i have tried out many mods in my time while modding on PC, i have over 10,000 hours in skyrim alone, so i have been around the block more than a few times, the kit helps far more than you know, maybe not for starting out modders, but for the more experienced vets who know how to use the kit, these guys make amazing mods that can overhaul all kinds of things, from perk systems to gear to weapons and armor, like i see this shit all the time in FO4 nexus, people upload amazing stuff all the time, i will say the skyrim modding community has far more passion though, but skyrim is a far more popular game in comparison to fallout.
i have used the kit myself, and without it, modding is hard as hell because you have to know what your doing, with the kit you have to know what your doing also, but it's significantly easier to place objects and make changes in the world because it was made for the game.
the kit can be a pain in the ass to use though i will admit, perhaps this version that bethesda will eventually release will function better, maybe.. to be seen i suppose.. i hope it has a built in autosave function, because that was a pain in the ass with the other versions of the kit in the past and it would crash constantly.
