- In India, a petition was recently filed by a government spokesperson seeking a mandatory two-child policy. So why was this policy proposed, and how do ordinary Indians feel about such a proposal? Our Asian Boss reporter, Karan, hit the streets of Mumbai to find out.

Well he's not wrong
SURNAME is one of the main factor.
We need equality for passing SURNAME.
Why not just pass mother's surname to girls, and father's surname to boys, or reversed?
So there'll less desire and ambition to produce more child just want to get a son.
Love that he mentioned Dadar. I'm in Kolkata right now, had to save up some cash and Mumbai gets costlier and costlier each year... but man, do I miss those intense rush hours in Dadar, Andheri, Churchgate. But then again, Mumbai is way too expensive now. 500 Rupees for a dorm bed with fan and no wi-fi? I'm writing this from my 300 Rs single room in Kolkata with wi-fi, free water and all. Too bad tho 'cause Mumbai is truly one of a kind.
I admire the open minded new Indian generation. You can see a bright future of this nation.
I think India can easily sustain 2 billion ppl, our population density is lesser dan japan n korea n we r a agriculture base country
@@abhyudaysinghparmar6055 But to let more India people to have a better life the population needed to be lower down because it'll need more non-agricultural population for all industries. Japan and Korea, although highly developed, are suffering high population density.

Looking at the younger generations responses, you can see how open minded they are. I wish you also interviewed the older generations, i wanted to see the difference on ideals and if they will be willing to support the 2 child policy.
@yulyu when you dont knoe anything dont speak. Do you even know how much it costs to educate a child all through schools and colleges. Its an insane Amount
@yulyu why call it inhumane? The way i see it, it is more humane for people who understand that providing for a decent life for 2 children in the future is better instead of having many then facing difficulties providing for many children. If you watched the interview, they discussed the difficulties of having many children, why they do and what they can do. They are mostly young people who understand and know the benefits of the so called policy. Also, they provided alternate solutions such as using contraceptives, etc. I see that you do not want their government to implement this 2 child policy rule due to being "inhumane" therefore i ask, "why do you think it is inhumane?"
What's the point of interviewing the older generation who will have no/limited role in producing the next generation.

Agreed. Sad to see young people suffer in poverty and having to compete unfairly in the job and education market.
There are plenty of resources in this world. In fact we overproduce food and other supplies by vast amounts. Its the distribution that is the problem.
Just make them pay 1000$ as fine for the third child. They'll automatically not have it
@yulyu
If the problem is happening in India, and it is it's people who have to solve it, implementing this law isn't racist (it would still be the same if it happened in other countries, with people of a different ethnity).
Despite believing everyone should have control over what to do with their bodies, if what they do is harmful then the government is in their right to pass down laws to limit said control (having too many children is negative for the world and India itself).
And as a side note, don't say the lack of resources isn't real. There are countries literally fighting for water.
@yulyu
How is it racist? If this was necessary in my country (Spain) or say, the US/UK/any other country, the law would still need to be passed down. It isn't a matter of race, it's a matter of what's better for the world and the people that are alive at the moment.
You may not realise it, but we are running out of non-renewable resources (out of which, many are important despite polluting). Having more mouths to feed EVERY YEAR won't help control those resources, nor make a good use of the renewable ones.
However, leaving the resources aside, many children are still a problem. Poorer families are usually the ones who have more children, and this leads to an inability to provide correctly for those children. Lowering the birth rate to two children will ease the struggle to provide for their children for poor/not as rich families.
I'm pretty sure you think it's okay to send criminals to prison because they are a danger for societies, even if you are technically violating their rights (it's their body so they should decide whether they want to kill someone or steal something). It happens the same with too many children; it technically is the parents's rights to decide how many they want, but it has a negative impact on the world as a whole (thus why these policies are needed).

Ryan Kiddo Although the government is different. We have the same problem in population. China had one child policy since 1989 and declared last for 30 years. Eventually the population grew slower than before. However society got old faster. The proportion between young people and old people is imbalance. That’s quite a serious problem in China nowadays.
@@Johnson-Young thats right.. so if india can have 2 child policy from the start(if they implement this) , they can avoid things like what happened in china crisis(gender imbalance, age etc)
@@Johnson-Young that's a problem China foresees because of their current economy. India doesn't have that problem now. Statistically, India is more poverty stricken than China when they first initiated the one child policy. If the unemployment rate indirectly affects a nation's economy, and if India resists this change, then goodluck with that.

I'm happy towards the end they touched the actual important point: You need to educate people, but also give people resources and opportunities for it to work. The government prohibiting is not solely a solution, there will still be inequality, lack of employment and social injustice.
Instead of punishing people for having more than 2 kids, they should give financial incentives for families having fewer kids and couples who practice birth control. And make sure to educate the poor people about it. And give couples who want to stop having children free/subsidized access to vasectomy or getting their tubes tied.

Just For Fun China has different government, their policy is different
I know a Muslim family. They have more than 6 children . They don't even have money to feed let alone one child. So once I told them about this and they were like " it is blessing of Allah". They don't send their children to school . So there will be more manpower to earn money. And also another reason is that they wanted to make India a Muslim country. So if there will be more Muslims then their vote bank will increase. People who are aducated they are mostly having one child. Because thay wanted to give their children best. And ofcourse the education in India has became really very expensive. So now most of the people are having only one child not even two.
