I am a 6th generation Texan and have spent my life camping, hiking, fishing exploring nature in all ways. I am now 81 and had a hip replaced and can no longer enjoy nature as before. Recently found these videos and love having a substitute. I found you through Tony and Bruno/Bruce. They have enriched my life and appreciate your efforts to present them. I’m 60 and went on a solo winter camping trip with our dog last year, Feb 20, in the interior of BC Canada. I used snowshoes and a ski pulk to haul all my gear up a hill in 4 trips, and took me way longer to get set up than I thought. Didn’t get to sleep until 1:30 am, more exhausted than I’ve ever been in my life. I admire that your wife will do this with you because there is NO WAY mine would. Temp got down to -18C at night. Stayed for two nights. Was quite an adventure. Going to do it again this winter but going to use a snowmobile this time. Great video!

I would say I'm in pretty good shape (for 60). I can squat 250 for 10 reps, deadlift 370 and do about 8 slow pullups. Just bought a new backpack, the Exo K4 5000, and have started doing hikes around my neighbourhood with heavy loads. Anyway, ALWAYS have a GPS with SOS just in case. @@mikimiki195

I love it. This is just like my childhood growing up in Northern Wisconsin, USA. My brother and I used to dig ourselves in a snow cave when the weather would get like this. (Mom would freak out a bit) Thanks for living up to that beautiful blizzard *we all love.

What conditions? Light snow and maybe -3 to -6 degrees celsius at "worse". This was so lame, and he keeps playing it up like it was some kind of an achivement. AND Alcohol dosen't "keep you warm", it actually cools you down. This is extremely dangerous advice. What a bunch of morons
When I camped in Rockies as young woman way back, guide was so strict we had to get our allotted jobs done and darent complain. After a week or so, we did get into routine of getting on with it, in heat or cold, feeling unwell or not. Especially tired at night and cold, those allotted cooked a hot meal whilst someone put our tents up and others fetched water. In rotation daily. Worked well. So great these are well disciplined and not quarrelling.
You guys deserve every like, comment, and share you get and then some! I subscribed when Tony mentioned you guys and really like your channel! There is no way I could have survived those weather conditions!! May your channel increase abundantly! Congratulations on your marriage!!

I love these videos. When I am going to sleep at night I imagine myself there in the tent win the fire and a cozy sleeping bag. So relaxing.

Our gear was great. My sleeping pad maybe being pushed a bit far but I was still warm. Having the new tent was pretty important for the sideways snow

So crazy to watch you guys battling a snowstorm when it is 90 degrees F and humid here in Pennsylvania, USA. I'm a winter girl and our last two winters have been pretty snowless, so I'm a bit jealous! Bravo to both of you for giving it a go.
You guys are having real summers. Here in LA it's been mid 70's. Next weeks only in mid 80's.

Embracing misery with a smile is a necessary item in a survival kit. When nature gives a mischievous smile all you can do is smile back. For me, Buffalo Systems gear works great. No layering required. I used the Special 6 shirt for my hike to the Arctic Circle in Iceland. The weather was cold and damp. I was warm and dry. It worked well in below zero weather on the northeast cost of the states too. Bravo for enduring nature’s tooth and claw👏🏻 Accolades for being prepared for nature’s trick. Cheers to cozy camping! Enjoyed your video. I watch "The Outdoor Gear Review", and Luke tests various tents for performance. I would recommend you check for a tent with better ventilation as the moisture retention you experienced could get you dangerously wet - not good in cold temps. Congratulations on your marriage!

You two are an epic couple, and the video is awesome. I'm 70 but I remember way back in my mid 20's camping in a small tent with two mates in the tussocks way up the East Matukituki on Mt Sysiphus, and waking up to half a metre of snow (we didn't have mobiles and accurate forecasts in those days). It was chaos scrabbling around for our gear and boots under the snow, and we stuffed everything randomly in our packs as fast as we could and got the hell out of there. I'm not sure my wife would have appreciated the romance if I had put her through that only three weeks into our marriage! Cheers from a slightly warmer Lower Hutt👍

It’s was a great experience. I prefer winter camps but the wind on this one made it challenging. The tent is fantastic though love it
this one was just crazy. Half way through I started getting concerned about you guys making it out ok. so much adventure and excitement during the video I forgot that you had to make it if I was watching it. pretty funny. saw the NEMO sleeping pads, made me smile. enjoy and see you guys on the next one.
The pads performed great. Even my tensor insulted was enough when on the snow. Impressive

Yeah hasn’t been much snow. This was the second snow of the season. I have managed to get out for both dumps so far. Looks like there might be some more coming. 😀cheers

An adventure indeed. Victoria is a good sport, and it’s lovely to see you work together sharing camp duties. Dinner looked delicious while dining in a blizzard 🥶, lol. It would probably be a good idea to pack snowshoes for future winter camping. You might want to have an inflatable snow tube or lightweight sled to slide your packs if they’re heavy. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your wedding.
Snow shoes would be good. A sled would be if we walking on flats be we always going

Lovely to see Victoria again and you two are awesome campers. Those conditions were pretty frozen and windy. We have walked for fun snow shoeing in a blizzard for fun in Vancouver and that was enough for us but camping in it is very brave. Yeah it worked pretty well. Our sleeping mats are pretty good. Mine is a 3 season 4.2 r value and it was just warm enough. Victoria is 4.8 she was toasty warm

This reminds me of trip into remote SW Tassie forty years ago, but without the warm clothes! :) we could only afford army surplus gear (cheap, flimsy) plus a little pup tent, and a spare set of dry clothes.Those were the days. We did have new Japara waterproofs, and good sleeping bags - but that was our only state of the art stuff. We had to join our sleeping bags together to keep each other warm! Yes, bed early and chocolate - way to go. Thanks for posting
