- This is a product review of the Magic Mill 10 Tray Food Dehydrator, available on Amazon (see below). Dehydrators allow you to decrease the moisture content of food so that you can store it at room temperature for an extended period of time without spoiling. But how did this particular unit do in terms of dehydrating mealworms for my chickens and making chicken jerky for my dogs? Watch the video to find out!

excellent video!!!. It has helped me a lot. You are a beautiful human being. Also those dogs are very lucky to have you as their owner. God bless you and your family!
Yes, the only issue I had was the size of the square holes in the stainless steel trays. Most of the things that I dehydrate fall through the holes. So I got on Amazon and bought ten Kispog Reusable Silicone Dehydrator Sheets for $17.99 and they work perfectly. I just cut them to the size of the trays. These mats have small square holes in them that allow good airflow and nothing falls through them. I love this dehydrator! I am dehydrating hamburger, potatoes, chicken, bell peppers, onions, garlic and other vegetables and fruits. Even herbs that I can grind up and make powder with. You can do so much with this dehydrator and I haven't had any problems with it or the plastics warping so that's not an issue for me. With inflation hitting us hard I bought a bunch of food early and have been dehydrating them like crazy LOL! But I have a bunch of food now in the pantry to get us through what's coming with crazy food prices and food shortages. I give this dehydrator a 4 out of 5.
Great review. Thank you!
I just purchased this.... looking forward to learning how to use ❤️
You. Am use parchment paper on the trays too and it will keep things from falling through
The dashboard might be correct and your handheld temperature gun might be wrong. My guess is that they are both within tolerance. I would average them out.
Have you an update on the mealworm dehydrating? Have you tried lower temps or shorter times?
Did your unit come with the skewer rack. I'm looking at this product on Amazon and it doesn't mention this hanging rack at all and there are NO picture of it.
Hey Mark. Thanks for your question. The unit I bought did come with hanging racks. Hope that helps!
Why are they burnt? Is that just what happens with the heat of the dehydrator? Are the ones we buy at the store freeze dried?
Unfortunately, when the mealies are slow-roasted, that is what happens. They are still fine to eat, though. The “pretty” ones you buy in the store are, indeed, freeze-dried.
How is the noise from the machine when on ? Is it to loud?
Not loud at all. Pretty quiet, actually.
