I almost bought this when it was on sale during black friday but i didn’t pull the trigger on it. Now i’m regretting it and waiting for another sale! I won’t miss it this time.
FYI (but I could be wrong) that looks just like the Cosori 10 tray dehydrator. And I'm pretty sure you can buy some of those extra trays for it and they should fit. I just bought the 6 tray Cosori a week ago because the footprint of the 10 tray was just too massive for my counter top. Great review!
i do love a good dehydrator....for sure, I have never dehydrated jerky...I smoke it (Bradley cooker/smoker) but i've never just dehyrated....I have used my solar dehydrator for meat (chicken, ground beef and pork believe it or not) on 100 degree days it works well but as you know solar dehydrators really only work in the heat of summer. I like this review and I like the idea for sure. I really like Lem, usually buy their tools and smaller items, such as rolls of the plastic food grade tiny square thingamajigs you were saying the MEAT! doesn't carry....Lem does. not sure about the measurements tho
I would only trust my solar one to do meat on the hottest July/ August days. Even then, the highest I've seen the internal temp was only 150. So a cold smoke would still be a better option if I had no power or something. I'm a big fan of lem (as I have their sausage stuffer and jerky tube) but when I was looking at grinders and dehydrators, alot of their stuff was backordered at the time. So the discounts and the fact lem was backordered had me try out this company and I'm pretty much satisfied across the board. Once I grind a few more pounds of meat, I'll be able to do a review on that one as I don't like doing reviews on anything until I feel as if I've thoroughly tested every regular scenario.
Not that I'm aware of. I find it funny and telling that these companies all seem to buy from the same manufacturer overseas and add their labels and one slight change to them
What? Thats dumb. It's not like you're across an ocean or anything. They're definitely missing out on a big market as alot of Canadians I know love to make things like moose and salmon jerky
👍 Ah, Thanks for the temp info! I wouldn’t have realized Yeah I’ve seen the higher priced ones, hard pass DOH 🤦♂️ tray dimensions being offset is hella annoying Well that sucks, should be able to buy more trays Holy crap, I’d run it during the day off solar than. Pge out here would love me running that at night!😂 Good list! 👍
Honestly the tray dimensions just struck me as a big "what the heck? Why!?" It's just ridiculous and it really annoys me when I go to put a tray in and I have to rotate it. Especially if my other hand is full with more trays
Just got the 6 tray. Is it common for dehydrators to only do set temperatures? I have a recipe that says do 160 and mine only seems to do 158 or 167. Also why is the beef jerky recipe I’m looking at saying 160 when it should be at least 165 to be considered safe? Is it like steak where 160 won’t make much of a difference and is still safe? Because steak can be much lower than 165 and still be fine.
Yes its common. Most of them are analog, it wasn't until the last few years that dehydrators started showing digital temps. When I do my jerky, I start it at 167 for 2 hours then lower it down to 158 till its finished out. I also use pink salt on my jerky as an extra step to keep it safe as I like to make a bunch and eat for months after. The idea you're looking for is to remove the moisture that bacteria need to reproduce. By putting it up to 165 for even a minute, you've essentially killed off the bacteria to the point they can't even get started.
Their website says the trays are not stainless steel, they are chrome plated. Chrome plating is toxic and with age can rust/flake off onto the meat you're dehydrating/eating. They should have an option for stainless steel trays.
Absolutely. The reason most people mention meats is because they require more heat to make safe. A lot of budget dehydrators can do fruits, veggies, and herbs but not jerky. So if you find one that can do jerky well, then you know it can do the others no problem.
Here is an example of making jerky using this dehydrator.

I have one and I love it!!!
It's in my kitchen on the counter in the corner.
I just used it yesterday for the first time, made about a pound of jerky.
It's a great one. It's still cranking out jerky for me no problem
Nice. What temperature did you dry your onions on and how long? Thankyou

This still in use? I'm looking at getting something like this. Like the review as it's exactly what I'll be doing is jerky.
Yep still using it all the time
I also bought extra sheets on Amazon.
Thanks for the review! Looks like a good product. I love to make jerky.
Thank you! I love making it too. Great way to preserve a deer harvest
My latest is a rear mont fan as well. Hell of a difference in end use product. Dont remember the name right now
Makes a huge difference. Even drying and much much faster. I feel like if you're serious about jerky especially, you need a rear mount fan dehydrator
Great job on teaching food safe temperature. Very important! Great video.
Thank you! I take food safety very seriously. Spent way too much time in kitchens it's just second nature now
Does the higher wattage help it dry faster than the LEM? Or is the LEM more efficient using less power providing same drying time as MEAT?
I don't own the LEM so I couldn't answer that question honestly
Con, I would clamp a metal ring like a hog ring or rabbit cage ring to mark the front of the trays. Thank you for sharing this video.
That's a really good idea
Heck yea, nice looking machine, Jerky looked awesome. And quick. My P.O.S. takes at least 10 to 12 hours.
I used to do oven only, it works but heats up the house since I would keep the door cracked with a spoon. This is so much faster
Is that made by Cosori by chance? Everything about is says Cosori, only thing that looks different is the control at top is on opposite side.
Not that I'm aware of. I find it funny and telling that these companies all seem to buy from the same manufacturer overseas and add their labels and one slight change to them
Can I dehydrate veggies and fruit
Sure can
THANKS ANTHONY....Need a new one....
This is a good one. But I would definitely wait for a deal. They always run them
Can you cook 5lbs or more in this ?
the rack size and being unable to replace or buy extras would bug the h311 out of me too!
I have another one - not available in canada.
What? Thats dumb. It's not like you're across an ocean or anything. They're definitely missing out on a big market as alot of Canadians I know love to make things like moose and salmon jerky
How many pounds of meat can you do in the 6 tray trying to decide between the to sizes
My last batch of 3 lb pork loin, when cut into 3/8" slices, takes up about 2 trays.
👍
Ah, Thanks for the temp info! I wouldn’t have realized
Yeah I’ve seen the higher priced ones, hard pass

Thank you so much for this review
How is cleanup? That's a deal maker or breaker for me.
All depends on what you do. For the most part, things come right up and don't leave much of anything behind on the trays
Any other dehydrators you would recommend? These are all out of stock right now.
Unfortunately, there is nothing else that I have personally tried. I won't recommend anything unless I have legitimate experience with it
Great review. good list of prod & cons. Thank you Anthony
Should help people make a choice between spending alot of money and just a moderate amount

@@PalmettoPrepared wow fast response! Thank you so much brother! Great vid too. Subbed!
Ok I think im going with the 6 tray . Thanks
Anthony , great review , looks good , thanks for sharing , God bless ! ,
Thank you Michael
Try parchment paper , Anthony.
Silicone baking mats work the best

For what it's worth, I just check the website and it specifies stainless steel trays. Maybe they updated their product lines?
Good review!!
Thank you!
Wow great info, thank-you.
Thanks so much.. This helped us make our decision!

Does it have a drip tray
Nope. I use the silicone tray it comes with as a drip tray
Good Interview!
Quality info.
Thank you!
Where is the Meat dehydrator made?
China
@@PalmettoPrepared Thank you.
Bro, u heard of an extension cable? 🤣
Second
Good Show👍
First
Those are made in China
Best review!
I appreciate that!
