And World of Chel, which is kinda fun. What's nice is after 18 they started adding other extra animations to the celebration.
EA takes a step forward, and two back every year. They make a good change, then break 2 things. The skating in NHL 20 is great. But it's lacking so much, and the ai is STILL terrible, even though they claim to improve it every year. Then they bring in game modes no one asked for, like ones, and ignore be a pro completely. They made great changes to franchise mode in 20, and the overall presentation is good. But the game is still a mess.

When they finally started with the “commissioner” presenting the Cup, I was stoked. It bugged me how the handoff to the captain took place up until NHL 18 when it looked pretty close. What I’d like to see is what the 2K series had and that’s the ability to skate with the Cup. After everyone has touched it, then it allows you to take the on ice photo to conclude the game.

There’s something so cool and innocent and about the way they players in the older games would just skate up to each other and throw their hands in the air lol

Man, 2004 was one of the best things ever. Especially the PC version, which had an awesome UI tailored just for the computer. And it was very moddable too (and still is, there's a modding community doing roster updates for it even today). You could also import your own music tracks for every occasion the game used music for. The game even allowed to do some unreal level editing on the players, I once built a team full of 4 meter tall giants, just because it was possible. Good times :D

In NHL 96, Colorado wasn't in the game. So I used Quebec, the team that became the Avalanche. Secondly, before the Nordiques were relocated, they were in the Eastern Conference. It wasn't until they became the Avalanche that they were moved to the Western Conference. So there was no way of having a Colorado-Florida Stanley Cup Final in the game.
