People need to educate themselves on property ownership laws. And young people need to STOP selling the land! Lease it long term if you just want money but keep title to it!

My family has heirs land in Texas and some of the descendants live on their share of the land, a few acres have been sold. Part of the problem is it is in the country, not a lot of industry there, its in Texas and many of us live out of state. It is cool that it has been in our black family for about 100 years and the family reunion is held there every summer. At least the concensus of this generations heirs is we should keep it in the family at all costs. Each family pays a share of the property taxes each year, which are low as long as there are grazing animals on the land. Thank God for my country farming cousins.

I've been researching my family history via Ancestry. I've learned that my maternal ancestors were members of the 7 Mile community and an ancestor was buried in 8 Mile. I planned to visit, but, unfortunately, both communities are gone. Commercial and expensive residential properties now sit in their place. Conversely, multiple plantations have been preserved in the area.
It's not that it's just heir's property. It's the fact that AA don't talk about business like it should be discussed. People move away and then one day want to sell and then they sell to a person who wants to force the rest out. It Will's were set up correctly and it was discussed that before you sell the family's land to a person or company sell it to family first. It's not the city or state, or a company that is the AA's worst enemy it's the lack of business communication.
You are doing the right thing, you must teach the children the value, because when the land is ignored by the children, they will sell it to the first entity who sets a price for it. By hook or crook it will be taken away. Only when its gone, will the uninformed seller realize that they should have held on for their children or concerned relative or friend. Someone who will treasure the land as a keepsake.
The city should grandfather all heirs for property tax to help them salvage the historic areas and hold on to what belongs to them. God bless them all.
Years ago two sisters willed their homes to their respective churches because they didn't have children. Those properties served as income for the churches during those transitional periods as generations moved in & out causing the income of the church to rely mainly on those with fixed incomes. The churches have now upgraded to user-friendly (elevator, handicap ramps, etc.) and paid off so they can give even more back to the community. One of the churches is the 2nd oldest black church in the city and once served as a school for black children that weren't allowed to attend the regular schools. So having that home provide income has been instrumental.

If the church buys the church, then it should be in the contract to keep it in the family. I’ll buy the property. Who do I contact? Systematic racism: raise the taxes with no relief in sight. The kids go to school and don’t connect…it’s by design
Building interstates through our communities is how they have always devalued, destroyed and taken out land. He was very wise in bringing up how they saperate the community physically first. Then the noise and physical pollution comes next. When you look at cities, that is the history of the degradation of middle class and affluent black families.
Sometimes, elders tells a percentage of the story, instead of the telling younger generations the whole story. Interested in, how many of theses families, actually spoke to their families about the legacy of their family land, instead of broadcasting to the masses. All of this valuable information can or may be used against you.
Because people want what you have. If you really don’t have a full understanding what that is but broadcasting ‘bout it makes you an easy target for exploration. Then there’s age old tactic our property tax auctions. @@mosijahi3096
Yes we need reperations the very first step is to add up al the injustice years red lineing..over 500 years now for the next .. 500 years..we are tax exempt 👍🏽🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 now give us our land and for the black faimlys that have there's keep it.👍🏿
The jews who are Kazarians, owned the slave ports in Africa and here in the USA and the ships to transport and work out of Rhode island! Never here about that! It's because they changed the times history.
I fear my grandpa kids which are my uncles are going to sell his land that's been in our family for two centuries. They don't understand the legacy of our ancestors even having land & are so quick to get rid of everything once the elders pass. It's disgraceful in my opinion.
This may rub some folks the wrong way. But, back in the day, we needed land to farm, feed ourselves and survive. However, farming is not what most young people are interested in. Land usage has to be updated. Talk with the young people about ideas for land usage other than farming. Perhaps they can build houses that are worth renting out or some other kind of businesses. Otherwise, If they sell the land, they can still invest in something that is worth having today. Holding on to land and not making use of it, will only lead to more land loss.
Lose our land = lose our history. We have to remember how precious our land really is. Many of our ancestors worked for years to acquire and keep property. Why sell the land and then rent from someone else? Great question.
James Island in general has drastically changed. Grimball Road/barn hill, Grimball road ext, sol Lagre, everything is being taken or families are selling! It's impossible to move home to the island because of the cost and constant building, traffic. Thos video hurts!
I could only wish for this kinda peace...eat of the land, homeschool, etc I hope at least Air BNBs for vacation rentals were they can rent trailers out and that would cover the taxes
I'm just sickened by these stories. Both sides of my family came from 100acre farms each, here in NYS. Combined 225yrs. I got the land thing believe you me. 4.'22

If the church buys the church, then it should be in the contract to keep it in the family. I’ll buy the property. Who do I contact? Systematic racism: raise the taxes with no relief in sight. The kids go to school and don’t connect…it’s by design
The music was way too loud while the individuals were being interviewed, it was very difficult to understand
Building interstates through our communities is how they have always devalued, destroyed and taken out land. He was very wise in bringing up how they saperate the community physically first. Then the noise and physical pollution comes next. When you look at cities, that is the history of the degradation of middle class and affluent black families.
Add the link to give money toward the property preservation fund.
I am currently looking to go back home where ADOS is from. I'm trying economicly
This video was pretty good....the music selection, not so good.
I recommend watching this documentary 👍🏿
I will love to do that
Sometimes, elders tells a percentage of the story, instead of the telling younger generations the whole story. Interested in, how many of theses families, actually spoke to their families about the legacy of their family land, instead of broadcasting to the masses. All of this valuable information can or may be used against you.
How so?
Because people want what you have. If you really don’t have a full understanding what that is but broadcasting ‘bout it makes you an easy target for exploration.
Then there’s age old tactic our property tax auctions. @@mosijahi3096

Gentrification is a curse for US. I suffered homelessness, going bankrupt trying to survive
Racist tactics are always financial, educational, and health-related.
Exactly
The jews who are Kazarians, owned the slave ports in Africa and here in the USA and the ships to transport and work out of Rhode island! Never here about that! It's because they changed the times history.
He should put some tilapia in his pond....theyll clean up his pond and provide good fish to eat....
I fear my grandpa kids which are my uncles are going to sell his land that's been in our family for two centuries. They don't understand the legacy of our ancestors even having land & are so quick to get rid of everything once the elders pass. It's disgraceful in my opinion.
I ask why the church & not a niece or nephew cousin auntie
If they team up with the local DNR and form a nonprofit, they might be able to create a preservation trust.

I agree I wouldn’t trust the church .Some Preacher are greedy .if the preacher did who will get the land.he might not pay taxes then all are lost
They never used to have to pay for water and now you do
My grandparents owned some land on Edisto Island, I think my cousin sold it
We As People Need To Get On Code!! What Our Ancestors Were All About!! Not Speaking About The Tom/ Tom Etta !! What They Are Doing Today!!
Renting a home is bondage plane and simple and they know it
I could only wish for this kinda peace...eat of the land, homeschool, etc
I hope at least Air BNBs for vacation rentals were they can rent trailers out and that would cover the taxes
I'm just sickened by these stories. Both sides of my family came from 100acre farms each, here in NYS. Combined 225yrs.
