I really find it difficult to see in the lynching picture how people including children can stand there smiling and looking so happy about someone hanging dead or dying…….that’s another level of being evil to the core.
The more I read about Ms. Wells and having 6 books on her, I realize 3 things that frustrate my soul so very much. 1.) How Class played a major role in even in our race. 2.)Sexism played a major part. Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. looked down on her. 3.) Even the Church was scared to fight for freedom and seen Ms. Wells as a troublemaker. When she clearly wanted us to rise up and defend ourselves. Then there was a 4th issue I notice, White Women wanted rights and respect from their men, but they couldn't even put down their racism to include black women equally. Just think if Upper Middle Class Blacls, Other Civil Rights Leaders during that time, the Bkack Church and Women Rights Groups had a backbone and joined Ms. Wells how more advance our race would have been. The total lack of respect she received during the last decade of her life makes me sick. She should be mention along MLK, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks. Because she attributes they all had before all but Harriet Tubman was born. It is a shame she isn't honored. I love this women and everything she stood for. R.I.P. Ms. Ida B. Wells.

The intersections of her life with World's Fair, Frederick Douglass & W.E.B. Du Bois are crazy....but it's HER story, HER spirit and HER work that trumps it all. In respect to Ida B Wells I realize how much of her dynamic spirit my mom had in her and how my mom passed that same dynamic spirit to me. Black women are the core support of our Black men. I found my dynamic spirit is best served by providing services to the children of all minority families. I am an Ida B Wells.

Ida B Wells Barnett epitomizes what mission blacks in this country and around the world should still be striving and fighting for today. She has always been one of my favorite black history pioneers. Her mission is so eternally relevant in the 21st century. She was truly a trailblazer of her time.

Ida B. Wells was a true humanitarian. She had a genuine desire to help those in need, which contrasted with the attitudes of the snobbish old school established blacks who considered themselves 'more polished' and unwilling to do the same as Ms. Wells. Good for her.

As a 62 year old white women, I can’t believe I have never heard of Ida B. Wells until I watched the Netflix movie today titled “ Stamped from the Beginning” which led me to this profound documentary “ Ida B. Wells - A Chicago Story Special Documentary” on UA-cam. What a strong and brave women who never gave up on fighting for Justice of the poor black people. I would hope that her story is taught in history class in schools today. But as a Floridian with a governor who has tried to erase black history I am certain many more school children may never learn this story of a women fighting for Justice. So it is up to us as American’s citizens to spread the history of the real hero’s in American History. I can’t wait to share this story with everyone I know and everyone I meet.
I live in Florida. My family was active in civil rights. In Florida both Black History are taught in our schools by law as is the Holacaust. And NO one is trying to stop it's teaching. This lie is being peddled by the Democrat party. The party of slavery and Jim Crow lest any forget. And it's also coming from the same people opposed to NOT having parents involved in their children's education. What Florida wants is real history taught not racist history or antisemetic history or inappropriate adult issues taught to underage children. Lies are not history.

This video, history of this educated, strong, courageous, black woman and all she did to help our people, and all the injustices she, they endured is a awesome story. They stood up against all odds. So proud of them, some risked and lost their lives to get a better life for our people. Thank God for giving them strength to endure the fight for injustices.. Amazing!
I wish a movie is done on her life, especially with a fairly new actress coming in the business. Having said that, I'm 45 yo and always heard my grandmother talk about Mrs Wells and other great, black pioneers in the struggle. To read some of her writings, still to this day still ring true.
This information is educational, inspirational and very heart wrenching. This story is full of hope plus shows you what one genuine determined woman is capable of doing. This is my first time hearing about Ida B. Wells, I feel nothing but love and pride for this lady. She was strong and skillful. This is a powerful and positive story. I have learned so much from this documentary. It has changed my entire outlook on the community I serve, (Bronzeville), because I know this is where it all started! My respect for Ida B. Well-Barnett have grown tremendously. Thank you for this history lesson that was way overdue.
I heard about her when I was younger but now I can full learn more by watching this documentary and it will encourage me to research her even further. I love watching documentary about history.
I am so proud of our young people who are carrying the torch of Ida B. Wells. Her work as a groundbreaking, determined, truth-seeking, courageous, gifted, hard-working, brilliant journalist should be studied by every journalism student. No one should be able to become a journalist without studying this woman and her work.
I grew up in the same neighborhood that is being discussed and given I'm 66 yrs old and my mother was born in 1917 I remember a lot of the carry-over of this era.

It is so unfortunate that we are still fighting the same battles. It makes me sick that the white women didn’t want to march with the black women. I’m like seriously? We can’t overcome the oppression if we aren’t united, and pushing others beneath us does not help anything. It’s the same battle if white women and black women are beneath men. We are all women, furthermore, we are all PEOPLE. Drives me crazy!
Puts a whole new take on black lives matter. Got me very emotional and thinking what my own family endured just to survive, along with the endless number of people throughout history. So much was accomplished through countless stories all striving for the same goal. It really is heartwarming to see.

I was blessed to have a school that thought me about the holocaust, black slavery, Chinese and Native American injustices. I teach my kids this. Good thing is that now I tell my kids they can be whoever they want just by believing in themselves and learning from our history !

I actually grew up in the Ida B Wells projects on 38th and South Parkway which became King Drive in the late 1950s and all of the 1960s. The street behind me was Rhodes Avenue. I remember the Chicago Daily News don't know if it's still up and going. Anyway, this is a large part of my past. My grandmother came to the area in the late 1930s I even had an uncle go to Burke Elementary School and he was much much older than me remember my mother was 40 years older than me. I remember when the worse crime was men that drank wine and would sing on the corners. But sad to say I have learned more about Ida B Wells on here than I ever did in school although I grew up while the last generation of these great people were being laid to rest.
This is my 1st time even hearing about this courageous black woman. I'm proud of what she did with her life, about lynching and how she looked out for black people. I enjoyed watching this video from beginning to end. Her family should be so very proud of her and to carry on her name. Wow!
She was strong, smart,intelligent , and supported by her husband. She was really the co-founder of the NWACP but was given to a man. Women like her will always be number two in my book, other than my beautiful mother, who brought twelve of us in this world. Stay strong ladies with respect for others.

Ida B Wells deserves so much recognition for all that she did and strived to do in her life - beginning at the age of 16, no less, when most of us haven't a clue about life and how to care for ourselves!! Ida was clearly a special human. She believed in the truth - that ALL MEN/WOMEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, regardless of their skin color. Despite all the judgment and set backs due to being black and a woman, she persisted through it all. Ida remained resilient, honest to the core, courageous and humble. I only wish she were alive today, to know that we have the highest respect for her. May she rest in peace.

They do skew things to make them appear differently, then get to the real world, and it was NOTHING like I expected.

I’ve always had my own ideas, and that has caused me immense grief-I have found that it’s the right message when people are trying to shut you up. I’m sort of obsessed now, actually. Ida B. Wells was a true humanitarian. She had a genuine desire to help those in need, which contrasted with the attitudes of the snobbish old school established blacks who considered themselves 'more polished' and unwilling to do the same as Ms. Wells. Good for her.
I am so honored to know of such a fierce, brilliant and loving, tactical woman. All that she created, organized, and attempted in the face of perpetual nonsense: Sexism, racism, classism, erasure…. Standing Salute in the spirit of gratitude.
Y'all, please read "Crusade for Justice" - this summarizes the book. This amazing woman stood up to the CIA. I don't know if this documentary covers that.... but the book will leave in awe, angered, empowered, amazed, and a full range of emotions.

As a 62 year old white women, I can’t believe I have never heard of Ida B. Wells until I watched the Netflix movie today titled “ Stamped from the Beginning” which led me to this profound documentary “ Ida B. Wells - A Chicago Story Special Documentary” on UA-cam. What a strong and brave women who never gave up on fighting for Justice of the poor black people. I would hope that her story is taught in history class in schools today. But as a Floridian with a governor who has tried to erase black history I am certain many more school children may never learn this story of a women fighting for Justice. So it is up to us as American’s citizens to spread the history of the real hero’s in American History. I can’t wait to share this story with everyone I know and everyone I meet.
I live in Florida. My family was active in civil rights. In Florida both Black History are taught in our schools by law as is the Holacaust. And NO one is trying to stop it's teaching. This lie is being peddled by the Democrat party. The party of slavery and Jim Crow lest any forget. And it's also coming from the same people opposed to NOT having parents involved in their children's education. What Florida wants is real history taught not racist history or antisemetic history or inappropriate adult issues taught to underage children. Lies are not history.

I was taught about her in school in 1971. In the first African American History class offered at GSU. Now there is a whole degree program.

So proud of them, some risked and lost their lives to get a better life for our people. Thank God for giving them strength to endure the fight for injustices.. Amazing!
I wish a movie is done on her life, especially with a fairly new actress coming in the business. Having said that, I'm 45 yo and always heard my grandmother talk about Mrs Wells and other great, black pioneers in the struggle. To read some of her writings, still to this day still ring true.

I am so proud of our young people who are carrying the torch of Ida B. Wells. Her work as a groundbreaking, determined, truth-seeking, courageous, gifted, hard-working, brilliant journalist should be studied by every journalism student. No one should be able to become a journalist without studying this woman and her work.
I grew up in the same neighborhood that is being discussed and given I'm 66 yrs old and my mother was born in 1917 I remember a lot of the carry-over of this era.

It is so unfortunate that we are still fighting the same battles. It makes me sick that the white women didn’t want to march with the black women. I’m like seriously? We can’t overcome the oppression if we aren’t united, and pushing others beneath us does not help anything. It’s the same battle if white women and black women are beneath men. We are all women, furthermore, we are all PEOPLE. Drives me crazy!
Puts a whole new take on black lives matter. Got me very emotional and thinking what my own family endured just to survive, along with the endless number of people throughout history. So much was accomplished through countless stories all striving for the same goal. It really is heartwarming to see.
Makes me emotional how far we have come, and how far we still need to go. Absolutely breaks my heart that people can treat each other in such terrible ways.

I was blessed to have a school that thought me about the holocaust, black slavery, Chinese and Native American injustices. I teach my kids this. Good thing is that now I tell my kids they can be whoever they want just by believing in themselves and learning from our history !

I give honor to her and all the leaders who stepped out on the front, took the time to really fight for our place in social humanization to exist and to be treated fairly, as we know we will never be treated equally in this free world. I actually grew up in the Ida B Wells projects on 38th and South Parkway which became King Drive in the late 1950s and all of the 1960s. The street behind me was Rhodes Avenue. I remember the Chicago Daily News don't know if it's still up and going. Anyway, this is a large part of my past. My grandmother came to the area in the late 1930s I even had an uncle go to Burke Elementary School and he was much much older than me remember my mother was 40 years older than me. I remember when the worse crime was men that drank wine and would sing on the corners. But sad to say I have learned more about Ida B Wells on here than I ever did in school although I grew up while the last generation of these great people were being laid to rest.
This is my 1st time even hearing about this courageous black woman. I'm proud of what she did with her life, about lynching and how she looked out for black people. I enjoyed watching this video from beginning to end. Her family should be so very proud of her and to carry on her name. Wow!
She was strong, smart,intelligent , and supported by her husband. She was really the co-founder of the NWACP but was given to a man. Women like her will always be number two in my book, other than my beautiful mother, who brought twelve of us in this world. Stay strong ladies with respect for others.

Ida B Wells deserves so much recognition for all that she did and strived to do in her life - beginning at the age of 16, no less, when most of us haven't a clue about life and how to care for ourselves!! Ida was clearly a special human. She believed in the truth - that ALL MEN/WOMEN ARE CREATED EQUAL, regardless of their skin color. Despite all the judgment and set backs due to being black and a woman, she persisted through it all. Ida remained resilient, honest to the core, courageous and humble. I only wish she were alive today, to know that we have the highest respect for her. May she rest in peace.

All education is Not the responsibility of the Government !l Did You get a good education ?? As with many things in the USA, they just give the basics, and with many licensed professions they will license you with just the basic knowledge !! I find this rediculous !! you are good to learn more cultural and historical things, we must know where we've been to get to where we are going !!

@@deborahmorales7096 “white washed” yup, that was my experience as well. Though the things that really stood out to me, and inspired me the most, were the things that were skimmed over. They do skew things to make them appear differently, then get to the real world, and it was NOTHING like I expected.
@j believe me, I know that the system doesn’t want me to have any ideas. I’ve always had my own ideas, and that has caused me immense grief-I have found that it’s the right message when people are trying to shut you up. I’m sort of obsessed now, actually. There are still some contradictions, but I’m finding that if I draw a line between the two, I’m pretty close to my own experiences. If you have any suggestions of documentaries, books, articles, channels, etc, I’ll add them to my list. 💜💜💜
