Nice touch using the KI soundtrack for the outro. I use to listen to that working out as a teen 😁 Loving this new series of videos to come and looking forward to the next one 😎
I read the mangas years ago, one of my favorite things from it was, toward the end of the tournament (I think) theres a couple panels showing one of yusuke's fights, then the next page is just a blaack box with white text that says "Everyone else we know wins their fights and moves on" lmao
Hiei having a movie collection vs destorying the chapter black Togashis self deletion mindset in the side material that sounds so horrifying reading it back. The entire ending of the manga. Color and VA work.
Urameshi being a smoker just sheds light on the realism Togashi wanted to convey at the start of his career. Not to mention the fcked up backstories and undertones present in the characters of the story. I wish more anime/manga did this these days, not all heroes start as one and their lives most certainly aren't supposed to be sunshine and rainbows before and in between development.
Oh wow, I thought this video was short but, nope, time just flew right by. This is really interesting. Especially because there's more to Yusuke being dead, though it's understandable why they chose to cut out a lot of the fluff. Though I do like Kuwabara's outfit during Genkai's trials. Shows why he decide to use his sword to hit back the fireball. Dude's a baseball fan. Yu Yu is a tough anime to say "watch the first 3 episodes, if you don't like it then skip" because the first 3 are so wildly different than the rest of the series. One Piece, DBZ, Sailor Moon, those are kind of "yeah, you get the idea". But, with the manga, you can kind of see why. I wonder if there was going to be a different direction originally, but pivoted to be more shonen-like.
I've only ever seen the anime and I'm someone that has a hard time enjoying repeat watches/reads/playthroughs of art so I'm gonna love this comparison series! Great video!
When i buyed the first 2 volumes here in Brazil i was surprised on how many things are different but not at the same time and how all the trials were cut to get to action fast, i wish the trials were animated bit who knows, maybe in a remake one day but i love both the manga and the anime
If I was to be honest I do prefer the manga a lot lore since I love how good it it, a lot of people have not read YuYu Hakusho which is a shame. It’s getting reprinted every year I have 5 volumes to go which is from chapter black and three kings arc.
I think it would be really rad to compare the Pokemon Adventures manga to the original Pokemon video game. Unlike the anime, the manga is a complete recreation of the video game plot. It following the adventures of Red rather than Ash.
Yes. Togashi draws some of the villains with a subtle realism, especially Elder when he is first shown. Seneui also has a pretty creepy design in one panel.
I FAR AND AWAY think the manga is far superior to the anime. the pacing, art.. it's all super good! the cut 'Ghost Files' (one might say) of the early manga are so fun, and made me cry multiple times, so it's such a shame that they were cut out of the manga (the tanuki and Kana stand out specifically to me.) the only scene I can think that's improved (up to the end of the Rando arc, as that is the topic of the video) is Kuwabara at Yusuke's funeral. I highly recommend anyone who loves Yu Yu Hakusho to read the first arc in the manga, the emotional storytelling is great. also, generally speaking, the really bad pacing of the Four Saint Beasts arc is completely absent in the manga, thank god. Generally speaking, the best thing about the early anime compared to the manga is most certainly the more screentime for Kuwabara in my opinion!
Oh you are in for a surprise, despite what most people (who have not read the manga) say, the anime adaptation is just as bad as many other battle shonen adaptation from the era. The filler and padding the anime has is actually quite insane and it really just makes the series in general way more dumb in a lot of moments. The anime almost feels like a fanfic honestly, specially so if your only exposure to it is the dub.
Yeah, so I'd basically watch an episode and then read the corresponding chapter(s) and take notes on blatant or subtle differences. It really increases the amount of time it takes to get THROUGH the material 😅

Blue exorcist and bleach
Seeing more time between Yusuke and Botan in the beginning is something I really wanted to see in the anime.
I also watched the anime before reading the manga years later. Togashi is by far one of the best manga artists to put pen to paper

Dang, I'm assuming this is the final tournament at the end of the series so Togashi must've been tired at that point. Knowing what i know....
Togashi’s art had moments of excellence in the manga
Hiei having a movie collection vs destorying the chapter black
Togashis self deletion mindset in the side material that sounds so horrifying reading it back.
The entire ending of the manga.
Color and VA work.
This has made me want to go rewatch YYH for the umpteenth time.
i thought it was strange how quickly he came back to life in the anime, I much prefer this seeing him have to work as a ghost and earn it

Very nice analysis!
Much appreciated, my dude! Felt like trying something a bit different.

18:09 Shaolin is the Chinese pronunciation while Shōrin is the Japanese pronunciation, so his name is the same in both versions.
That's interesting to know!
Yo!!! That plok soundtrack at 21 min!!!! I thought I was the only person who remembered that game

Just finished rewatching YYH for the first time since I was a kid, so this is really well timed
Keep doing your thing man
Got 2 out 3 of the Bleach Manga box sets..the manga is great..
Funnily, Noriyuki did Yu yu and Bleach.
i love yyh man swear the anime is one of my favorites of all time honestly, glad to have watched this vid!

Considering all the Pokemon I've played, I should probably do this lol
The manga was so cool
Elder Toguro manga design was scary af
Yes. Togashi draws some of the villains with a subtle realism, especially Elder when he is first shown. Seneui also has a pretty creepy design in one panel.
I'm a simple man see Somewhere Past Never just dropped a video I click lol
Ok, you convinced me to read the manga ❤
you should do Dragonball and Pokemon.
I subbed when you said youve talked about YYH mainly in your channel hehe

There's many differences. I read the manga first as a young child and it made me cry was very sad 😢😢😢😢
yyh getting talked about? auto like

I hate the dub version of kuwabara because of how much damage it did to him that was praised.
The manga has him look a lot more competent.
cool cool
Hello saturn my name is edzander kalulu
i appreciate this but some of the differences are so tiny. I think you could have gone over the little stuff
Neat!
After the Dark Tournament Arc finished, the anime was done. Everything after that is fan-fiction to me 😂
yay!
@SomewherePastNever ive never read the manga nor watch the Japenese dub. which is one of the few mangas/anime ive only ever seen the english dub for
Ive loved your Yu Yu Hakusho content for years. Its refreshing compared to the pretentious takes from Totally Not Mark and his refusal to accept dubs
Yo this is a 🔥 ass idea. I just got the first volume myself
Heyyy
Geeze dude! Did you read the manga and watch the anime at the same time, stopping one and going back to the other over and over? Whew.
Yeah, so I'd basically watch an episode and then read the corresponding chapter(s) and take notes on blatant or subtle differences.

@@SomewherePastNever as a professional analyst, I'm impressed.
Not keiko having skid marks in the manga 💀
🥳❤️👍🏿
THE KIDS NAME IS WHAT
yuuuuup lol

The anime is much better done than the manga.
