My wife and I were contemplating an R/T back in 2020. None of our local dealers had any SRTs on the ground at the time. We held off for a few weeks until we got word an SRT had landed. As soon as my wife sat in the drivers seat of the SRT, she was hooked. 4yrs and 65,000 miles, she still smiles every time she gets in her SRT Durango.
Hey man I'm looking to cross shop between this and a Lexus GX 460 (maybe LX 570). How's the reliability of the Durango? Any major mechanical/electrical issues?
Absolutely. Tow n Go is basically the SRT but with a 5.7 instead of a 6.4. Great bang for the buck. I had one that got stolen last year. Black with red rally stripes and the same wheels as the SRT in this video. Beautiful combo.
Totally agree! I bought a base model '23 SRT 392 earlier this year ($10K under sticker) and I love it! I didn't want the sunroof and those hideous red leather seats 😂
I don't have any brand loyalty, but I really think the Durango still looks good. I was looking to buy a new vehicle in November 2023, the Durango RT piqued my interest, but I was worried about reliability, but those Hemi engines sound like music to my ears!
The Hemi engines are proven and are very reliable, both in 6.4 (392ci) and 5.7 (350ci) liter displacements. Plus, like you said, the sound of both engines is glorious!!
Once I found a tech that knew what he/she was doing. The problem was fixed and didn’t return. Took 3 trips to the dealership to get it fixed, have the maxcare warranty, so was staying with Autonation dealership. Dodge dealership not able to fix it, Jeep dealership was able to get it fixed correctly. Since the DD and Grand Cherokee are essentially the same vehicles
It’s a great SUV I have the hellcat version and actually tow with it has a built in brake controller and up to 8700lbs tow rating! Also with a few mods on e85 and a tune 1000whp family hauler
100% agree. And this is why the local dealer lot is still loaded with 2024 models. Unpopular opinion but this platform is shared among fleet vehicles like police cars and taxi cabs, and even when you pay much more for premium trim levels you still get cheap low-end feeling plastic interiors. These vehicles are all about the engines, which tends to attract a specific type of buyer IMO.
You can find deals if you look. I found a new '23 SRT 392 in KY for $10K under sticker. Even with the shipping it was still much less than what they are asking for them here in NJ.
Just bought a 2019 R/T AWD Blacktop Package two weeks ago, and I can’t do anything but smile! It does need an aftermarket exhaust, but I also live in the city, so the need of going fast isn’t really there for me. That’s why I have my 5.7L 392 Stroker Challenger instead. 😎
On the SRT Durango, the rear brakes are FOUR piston Brembo brakes, not the twin piston calioers that you mentioned. So, all Brembo brakes wirh 6 piston calipers in front (as you said) and four piston (not two piston) calioers in rear.
The dark tint is from the factory, not the dealer. Also, on the SRT, the rear brakes are FOUR piston, not dual. (Like you said, the front brakes are 6 piston; all are made by Brembo with SRT by Brembo identification on them). Lastly, the gas cap is a push open and close. Great comparison!
My wife drive 20 RT and I drive 22 SRT and both are fun SUV’s. But the SRT is something else lol and the gearing in srt is tighter also adds to the acceleration. My srt getting 9.5 to 10.5 mpg lol because of my wife.
Yeah the SRT will sound better than the RT V8 engines still love the AWD 😁🪖🪖🛣️ set up over the rear WD set up 😁🪖🛣️ yeah they are too pricey for me unless i won the jackpot 😭
The Brembo brakes come STABDARD on the SRT model. There is no difference with the Premium package with the brakes. I'm not sure why they listed it when its the same on the base SRT model.
The real question is how long are these engines going to be used before they become obsolete. That’s what is stopping me from buying anything v8 right now
@@armandogonzalez0814 I meant before they stop using them for good and quit making parts. But it looks like the tides have changed and they may keep using them again.
Yes, but even the 6 Cylender X7 is 10k more than the SRT before considering Dodge discounts and incentives. For the M60i cost, you could possibly buy both of these SUV’s and still have some money leftover lol 👍🏼
America is absolutely slow country. I would say slowest. You never need engine more than 2.0 litres. WIth your 5.7l you reach legal 75 mph in a second. Then WHAT?????? My experience in USA with 1.6l engine and i already have speeding ticket. I wonder why so many ppl buying powerfull cars. Thats ridiculous. I reach highest legal speed with my 1.6l car in a seconds and i am so boring. Not coz of acceleration but coz i can go faster. But i want. So you cant even use for 100% small 1.6l engine car in USA. Thats absolutely frustrating disgusting ridiculous. You definitely dont need 5.7l you will never use NEVER. Its most stupid thing you can do buy 5.7l in the slow country with terrible cops and low speed limits.

R/T Plus w/ Tow n' Go package is the way to go if you want all the bells and whistles including SRT exhaust and Brembo brakes on a 5.7L
That’s a great combo 👍🏼
@@rhodemlordcapilla7332 so the tow and go package comes with a different exhaust than a 5.7 with the tow package?

The Brembo 6 piston/ 4 piston brakes come standard on the SRT model. The Premium package is NOT necessary. I know because I own one. Great fun!!

Compared to most new turbocharged or hybrid powertrains, these Hemi’s shouldn’t be any less reliable. Especially with the new 8-Speed transmissions.
I have over 230,000 miles on my 2012 Durango R/T, a few electrical issues with turn signal, starting system, but no engine problems 😊

Hard not to! 👍🏼
Nice review. Quick note. 18:04 2024 was the Final Year for the SRT 392. Only the R/T and SRT Hellcat were available in 2025…their final year.
And the SRT 392 AlcHemi was also a 2024 Model, not available in 2025.

In desperate need of a refresh, but because of the lack of one, I got killer trade in negotiation power on my 16’ R/T toward a new SUV. 🤷🏻♂️
The AWD symbol is a '4' not an 'H' , to signal AWD.
The rear spoiler is also different on the two modeks, with the SRT having extra panels that are tuned to provide more downforce at speed

The plastic used in the LED tailight panel has a dark tint on the SRT and no tint on the R/T..
They're damn near outlawed in Metro Detroit because you won't have it long... unless you park it in your living room.
Unless you have the Dodge Durango gt with the original 3.6 liter that was natural aspirated, motor, mine is the 2018.
The 5.7 desperately needs those brembos too. It’ll warp those reg brakes after one hard stop over 100mph
That's why you buy the RT with the Tow N Go package!!! I had one on my channel.
Powerstops are way better. Those brembos have a tendency to wear the inside shoe out 😂

The SRT Premium package comes with the 2-piece front rotors, at least for the '23 model year. Did this change for 2024?
Why is this video so bright lol
A good comparison would be a 5.7 grand cherokee L vs the 5.7 durango
Not sure if the L keeps the Hemi for 2025 but if so, I’ll have that reviewed for you asap!
Unfortunately the Grand Cherokee L is being downgraded to that 293hp V6 for the 2025 year
@greennv86 yup such shame and honestly dumb mistake, they should had put the new ttv6 since the L is heavier than a regular gc.
I wish they made a scat pack durango
Why? The SRT has everything a Scat Pack version would have but with better suspension and brakes. Also more drive modes.

The SRT steering wheel has a square bottom.
