Culture is accountable for making the monsters. The appetite is for trauma not peace and healing. Victim mentality is rewarded.

This is true but the point is that the negative part about our culture is magnified. It's intentional and we don't have to accept it. We don't have to buy it but we love it. Well, not me because the Lord woke me up 20 years ago. Peace

I think Jeramaya said it best. We went from rappers talking about what the streets are like, to drug dealers glorifying the streets, to the drug addicts glorifying the drugs. It's an evolution over time. But I disagree with Candace that it's "Black Culture" that's ruining Black neighborhoods. That's disingenuous to the history of this country and it's impact from generation to generation.
    Just my two cents

Is it the labels pushing sexy red on us or is it us wanting sexy red? THE ANSWER IS BOTH. You don’t have a supply without a demand. We see it with “one hit wonders” all the time. The labels make a move and nobody buys into it. On the other side. We the culture are always looking for a leader/representative/mascot. There are a lot of sexy reds in the neighborhood and I believe the labels take advantage of that. We the culture have to do better. Hip Hop music is supposed to be a reflection of the culture. 🙏🏽

I believe it is a combination of the culture asking for artists like Sexy Red and the labels pushing it on us. Our (the black community as a whole) consumption of the music says, “This is something we want” We take the bait and they keep pushing it and throwing out new artists and songs that continue to put us down

It’s all by design of the powers that be. They don’t want us to know our worth. This is why as black people we have to take accountability for our actions but learn from them and embrace the best parts of culture, while condemning our worse.

So many of us as black people talk greatly about the things that are wrong with our community and culture but not enough about all that is right. Growing up l rarely heard black people around me celebrate the beauty of being black and being apart of the black community. The talks within the black community sadly weren't different than the negative talks that were happening outside our community. Don't get me wrong l understand things that need to be addressed and talked about but that exists with every community and l believe we can have hard conversations without dehumanizing one another. Violent hip hop culture, and the negative things that happen within the black community are not apart of our beautiful black culture. As a Christian l believe these negative things are apart of the culture of this world which we don't live according too. Just like other cultures we can disassociate ourselves from negative things that happen within our culture and still celebrate the beautiful things within our culture and black community that are in alignment with who God says we are. We can stand up and say what is not us but at the same say what is us without dehumanizing those who have the wrong view of what should be embraced within black culture. I so understand accountability but we need black voices out there who are sharing all the beautiful things that are happening within our community because there's so many great things black people have contributed to society and the world that people may never get a chance to know about.

    2. Coondance Owens is the dude that hits an easy infield home run but only gets a double out of it... i.e. she's good at pointing out black missteps but reluctant to point to the non-black forces in charge or encouraging the missteps.. .. Sexxy Red is doing what makes money, who has the most dispoable income, you seen the concert complexions
