  • Kirk Franklin opens up about how his intense work ethic is fueled by a deep-seated fear of being forgotten, rooted in his insecurities and past experiences. The discussion explores how many artists use their insecurities and past criticisms as motivation for success, while highlighting Franklin's ongoing emotional and spiritual struggles, particularly stemming from his childhood and relationship with his mother. The conversation emphasizes the importance of spiritual growth and healing, questioning how long one should let insecurities dictate their life. Concerns are also raised about the impact of these unresolved issues on Franklin's music, suggesting that his recent work may lack the emotional and spiritual depth of his earlier albums.

    While it is refreshing to see Kirk admitting that he is operating in and motivated by the flesh, he should take a break from things, repent, and put the focus back on God and God alone. God does not share his glory with anyone. We earn God’s displeasure and rebuke when the focus is more about us than God. It is better not to minister, sing, preach, serve, give, and so on if we do it out of selfish motives. God does not need us, we need him.

    My heart goes out to Kirk, because I don't think he's coming from a "selfish" perspective regarding his motivation. I believe he is functioning heavily from a "broken" perspective (childhood abandonment/betrayal) that has drowned out and covered what God could really be doing in his life. I truly believe that his trauma (like many of us) has led and guided him to be oblivious about the way he relates himself to others and how he sees himself. I can only thank God in advance for the revelation that this brother is going to get related to him knowing that he is "complete" IN Christ and that his only motivation is to give God glory by using the gifts that he has been blessed with so that Jesus won't be forgotten!🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏💙

    I hate that anytime someone doesn't give the perfect "Christian" answer, their relationship with God is questioned. I can be close to God and still be human. Just because he is a broken vessel (as we all are) doesn't mean he should toss away his ministry. His response was honest and he knew it was from the wrong place and drive. We all know he is constantly trying to earn back the approval and acceptance and love he didn't get from the biological mom. AT FIFTY. That doesn't mean he doesn't die himself to the cross daily. Ugggh! He is on a journey like most of us. He's just more visible and outwardly honest than most of us.

    One of the things I can appreciate about listening to you guys is the level of maturity on display. Not a bunch of foolishness but mature realistic dialogue. Kudos. Just subscribed!
    On Kirk. Based on what I've seen over the years, Kirk's decline has been due to his pandering to the world and the flesh. Pandering to the LGBTQ community, fleshly concerts etc and just plain compromise like so many other artists. Bringing secular artists in to boost the branding of yourself in the world's spotlight along with the other stuff has absolutely nothing to do with the kingdom of God! We're to be set apart not blending in. Put the love of Christ on display in the world's arena to those that are lost but don't join them for the sake of remaining relevant. It's God through Christ who gives us our relevance and belonging in him. It's ok to be forgotten by the world when the one who matters will never forget us!! If we belong to him, our names have been written in the lamb's book of life...for eternity!!! #NEVERFORGOTTEN

He always said he had no family. He wanted friends he wanted Cuz he wanted he has none of them Says constantly dealing with that little boy who was alone and had nobody. So I hope this helps with clarification when you feel abandoned and he said he couldn’t do anything used to collect can to pay for his piano lessons so it goes very deep.

    The first step to healing is forgiveness. He has to forgive his mother who was 12 years old when she was pregnant with him. She was a child and hadn’t developed her motherly instincts bc if she had she wouldn’t have left him. I am not justifying her actions but giving another perspective as to what may have occured especially through a 12 year old little girl. When I saw his mother on the documentary I still see that 12 year old little girl. Kirk has to forgive her bc Jesus Christ has forgiven him. He needs to restore the relationship with his oldest son or it will continue the generational cycle.

    My comment isn't about Kirk Franklin but just thinking about trauma in general. I do believe God is shifting things as far as how trauma is handled within church community. In this generation l see people within the church being more honest about how trauma is still impacting their lives and that's extremely encouraging because the more safe spaces that are created the less likely people who want to overcome trauma will feel like they have to fight the battle with trauma in isolation. With that said l understand what the panel is saying about our accountability in the process and how God does want us to get to a place where we are no longer operating from our wounds. I just believe it is so important to have accountability with compassion too because people who battle trauma can feel they are the trauma they have struggled with for so long until met with compassion that causes them to know that is not their true identity. I believe there is hope for people who don't want to live out of trauma and that hope of course is Jesus and l believe He works through His community of believers to help bring healing and deliverance too. Which is another reason why becoming our most whole selves is essential to being able to minister to those who we will meet along the way who will be transparent in saying l am still being impacted by wounds.

    I appreciate the pontification on Kirk's statements. God uses our brokenness. Paul shows us that we can have brokenness AKA thorn in the flesh and still be successful in ministry. The question becomes is our brokenness maladaptive. It does not sound like his is maladaptive. It sounds like God uses it to keep Kirk at his feet

  • @s4cakagospelgorillaz98
    @s4cakagospelgorillaz98 2 місяці тому +2

    Go listen to the whole conversation before you make judgments. The question is, can we be vulnerable, broken, and real about where we are in our sanctification process? Does the church have an allowance for that? We all have places where we are not whole. It just looks different for all of us. He is just under a microscope, and people are able to gain attention, opportunities, and money from the interest that he draws. Whether it's good, bad, or ugly. We can see and point out things in others with platforms. Yet we don't air out our unclean thoughts, intentions, and selfish motives.
    Cover the brother because if you have never been through the trauma he has been through. Or been in the spotlight like he has. We don't fully understand what he deals with internally. I can say that I don't agree with some things he has said in interviews or have done. But I can respect honesty, vulnerable, and authenticity. Over the fake self, righteous, prideful, haughty, and struggling but act like you not spirit. I love and have grace for both.

    What about Jesus and Him being remembered? We live our lives for Him, not for ourselves. If we're singing and preaching for us to be remembered then we're in error. God is the only God that makes a man's name great. Not we ourselves. What about the souls that need salvation? When we are wounded and refuse to get healing, how can we deliver healing to the people? A broken man cant fixed anyone. So the music is coming from a broken place that carries the spirits that brings bondage to a man. No matter how good it sounds, where is the anounting that destroys the yolk off the people? May God be with him and he experience true healing and deliverance. Grace and peace.

    I wish we had more compassion for people who are clearly struggling. Kirk has had a LOT of trauma in his life and addressing that isn’t easy. Yes, he has to surrender to God, but why can’t we pray and trust that God is working in his life. He shared a tiny window into his life and everyone has a comment. No one has a prayer. Now picture the broken unbeliever reading these comments. We are all ambassadors. Let’s not misrepresent His Kingdom. He is God alone.

    One thing i struggle with is people thinking they have wisdom with things they have never gone through. Not really criticizing these people because they arent addressing him directly and i believe this discourse is necessary in a broader sense. I've been in situations were people tried to advise me who has never experienced or been where i been. Not saying the directions are wrong, but have grace to know it may take me longer based on my starting point. I dont use this rubric for myself because i consider it a cop out to avoid healing, but i do extend grace towards others going through things that i cant imagine. I pray that God continue to use kirk and he receives the healing he needs.

    I think at times we make judgements on people base on a statement and or season with the restriction of vision and the cloudiness of our lens that can only lead to a bad or incomplete judgement. Our weakness in wanting to understand and or label a thing or person is prison by that limitation...Wanting to understand another person when we really don't understand our self or even know ourself. The bible says we don't know our own heart so we sure don't know another's heart. "Who can understand the human heart? There is nothing else so deceitful; it is too sick to be healed. I, the LORD, search the minds and test the hearts of people. I treat each of them according to the way they live, according to what they do. WE as a people really need to get into the word and accept our limitations and let GOD be GOD!!! How about there isn’t a gospel artist, ministry articulated in the New Testament. And in the Old Testament, there were singers and they were all men. So at the end of the day, what are we really talking about as it relates to ministry when we talk about a gospel artist?

    I'm sorry but we are not suppose to think like non-believers. I'm praying for him that he allows God to change his mindset. Because his actions right now are being govern by his insecurities. He has to want to change otherwise he is going to fall even more

    I haven’t commented on a UA-cam clip in years. But I honestly wanna thank y’all for using such Godly wisdom regarding this matter. Y’all really hit the nail on the head regarding how we should grow and minister despite our insecurities. None of this was condemnation. But it was from a place of love, truth, Grace and accountability. God bless you all.

    My opinion means nothing so before I say it - I want to be clear there… I just feel as if his soul wounds that are publicly expressed aren’t the real issue, though they’re an issue nonetheless - it seems as if that is the scapegoat from the hidden truth that has to do with him more than anyone else or what anyone has ever done to him.
    Still a great artist regardless.

    I truly think he needs to step away and really get in right standing with God. He needs healing really. As much as I am not a fan of his shenanigans, it’s apparent he is still very broken. He needs to repent and focus on seeking God’s help and face. I pray he does, he’s very talented but God gets the glory alone and his gift isn’t for him. It’s for God to use him to bring soul to Him.

    Maybe that's the one thing Kirk hasn't done yet and that's REPENT, and ask for FORGIVENESS OF PAST and PRESENT SINS. His gifts that were given to him was for him to find God to be healed and minister to others who are broken. If Kirk cares more about being seen and wanting to keep up with the Jones then he will never be healed or have a spiritual relationship with God. God has blessed him much and to date if he has not had the relationship he needs to go about doing God's work is absolute crazy. By now Kirk could've been healed of his brokenness and been delivered way back then if he'd let go and let God have his way with him. He needs to humble himself in the presence of God and confessed everything that hes been holding onto. Apparently, Kirk has made his brokenness about him and doesn't truly believe that God can heal him and that Jesus already took all that to the cross upon himself the day he died on calvary. Repent Kirk and seek God to be set FREE and only in the name of Jesus.

    Everyone has some kind of trauma. But can’t use that as an excuse when standing before God. Period. This show seems to make excuses for ppl where they seem fit lol.

    • @Wambezi_45

      Growth is a process. Not realistic to see, find, & acknowledge trauma and change it that same day, week, or month. All of us of faith are in a process of sanctification and that pace is set with God. However definitely have to actually hold others accountable to make sure we’re growing not just ruminating in trauma. They ended with “What are you going to do about it?” Doesn’t seem like they were making excuses but were thorough in their analysis. Peace be with you family. 🙏🏾🖤💯

      @@IAmMsKai1974 I truly hope he’s going to a Christ centered therapist who’s interested in helping him experience the benefit of healing through Christ. After all, Kirk’s (or anyone’s) true healing can only be found in Christ. Some therapist don’t really want to see a person truly healed because the person won’t need them anymore. Sadly they want the person to continue to rely on them.

    • @dmandman9
      @dmandman9 2 місяці тому +1

      I want him to EXPERIENCE the security in Christ. Therapy can give him clarity. But after that he has to ultimately allow the God he’s singing about to do the work he wants to do in his life. Jesus says that if we come to him, he will give us rest. The truth is that God WANTS Kirk to place his insecurities at Jesus feet. He will then find security in Christ and not have to find it in the praise of men. Once it no longer matters to him if he’s “forgotten “ or not, he’ll find FULL JOYlike he’s never known. And his ministry will become MORE effective

    Extremely disappointing episode. There’s only one person in the room who evaluated this properly. And the fact that you all didn’t all watch the entire interview, but you’re going to have comments about it, it makes me question your feedback on future videos. I’m not gonna unfollowed because I do think that there’s wisdom there but you all miss the mark as a collective on this one because the man was being vulnerable and you took that vulnerability of of an image bearer and you commented on it out of context. You should check yourselves.😢
