You could feel the raw emotion in her so much, it was heartbreaking to me. She admits this year that he was the love of her life and it just didn't happen and she's carried that her entire life - what could have been. That was the most intense live performance between two individuals I've ever seen. When you're singing about him and he knows you're singing about him and he's taking it in. Both of them rise to the occasion. Her singing so beautifully and him accepting her feelings so gracefully. There is also another live performance of a song called Storm where it's pretty intense as well. It's not nearly as intense as this one, but just as worthy of your reaction. These two and this band is and will be forever legendary. FYI, the title just came from her seeing the city sign for Silver Spring, Maryland, when she was on the road and she used that for the name of the song - nothing more profound than that. Thank you for this reaction.

She’s telling him back in 1977, that no matter what happens. In their relationship. Her voice, singing their songs will haunt him. He’ll never be able to escape that. They did move on from one another. But she was pretty darn accurate. Great song

There are quite a few Fleetwood Mac Tribute bands. One of them called Rumours ATL is quite good. Not because they have a singer that sounds like Stevie Nicks, which she does, but because they have a pianist/singer who emulates Christie. The band actually festures Christie's music more then most tribute band that primarily feature Stevie and relegate Christie's music as secondary filler. When most fans think of Fleetwood Mac they only think of Buckingham/Nicks and that's what they want to hear.
Christie's music was always wonderful. I haven't heard much of her solo work or her album with Lindsey but I'm sure there are many more musical gems to discover.

There is a video from 2004 of a live performance in Boston on PBS of them doing Landslide, just Stevie singing and Lindsey on guitar, no other instruments. Drummer Mick Fleetwood was in the stew as well but he and Stevie parted fondly . Christine McVie (bass player John) wrote some pretty songs about her time with Dennis Wilson of Beach Boys post Manson family madness. Stevie called Joe Walsh of the Eagles the Great love of her life but their cocaine addiction destroyed that and he left to survive. She wrote "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" which she called her most committed song. Its about them and a trip to a park favored by his 3 yr old daughter Emma who died in a car accident. He put in an undersized fountain "for Emma and all others too small to get a drink". They joke if you can remember the 60s you weren't there , the 70s was a black hole of indulgence for many.

The brilliance of The Mac is the variety of sounds they always provided. Y’all have yet to hear the music/songwriting of Christine McVie (RIP)

I think you cut off the end of the video right before Lindsey and Stevie embraced if my memory serves. Stevie has never lost her love for Lindsey Buckingham. That's what all those RUMOURS songs were about.
When this concert aired in 1997, this was the debut live performance of Silver Springs I believe, even though it was written in 1977 (left off the album).
This entire concert from 1997 is an INCREDIBLE CONCERT. It was a reunion of the Classic Fleetwood Mac after years of breakup, lineup changes etc. They sing EVERY great FM song in stellar sound and visuals. You could go through the whole concert and you will be blown away. And I don't think you've even reacted to songs that Christine McVie sings lead vocals on>>she doesn't just play piano and backing vocals.
Plus, the last 2 songs of the concert are big surprises and very cool.
It's one of the best live concerts you'll ever see, filmed for HBO I think originally.

Stevie wrote this in the middle of all of the turmoil and break up. Silver Springs was originally slated to be included on the Rumors album, but ultimately got bumped. 20(ish) years later the song was broadcast live and those of us who were around for the original 70's drama have never, ever gotten over it. I knew she was pissed, but I was astounded at how pissed she still was after all of those years! Stevie is an absolute Queen!

"Silver Springs" was the B-side of Lindsey's song, "Go Your Own Way", so it was recorded and available on a single but not on an album until decades later.

She had to sing his breakup anthem to him, tour after tour for twenty years! This song, one that was meant to be there ages ago, was hers. She sent that through him. All that emotion, frustration and anger, the pain and aching just absolutely echoes. It truly is haunting.
There way she collapses into herself at the end, how freeing, that release, how emotionally exhausting that must have felt. And the way he just stares at her, almost urging, DARING her to “say it first”. Like permission for him to be able to admit he’s aching too. It was such a personal, healing moment for the both of them.
I watched clips of Silver Springs in other cities for that tour, They were dancing and playing, he seemed just totally encompassed by her. Leaning into once each other, wrapping their arms around each other, at one point he just leans against her and there’s so much pain in his face. It was like an intimate mourning between the two of them. At the end of the song her voice starts to break. He walks over to her and she just stops singing. The pause is heartbreaking. Then he bows slightly, holding out his hand to her with this look on his face. “I know, I’m hurting too. It’s ok, let me feel this with you” sort of encouragement, and she just sobs the last words to him while he smiles so gently at her. She fells into his chest and they hug, just all this emotion just escaping from them both until she heads off the stage, sobbing. I can’t imagine how heavy this was for them, what it meant to them. I read that he admitted in an interview that that moment was so powerful and raw, the he’d considered the thought of opening that door again with her had he not been expecting his first baby at the time. His own fleeting Silver Springs.
This band went through so much drama and heartache, to push through all of that the way they did just to keep the band together and the passion it brought to their music. Even on that stage alone, you have Christine and John who had their own painful romantic end while in the group, Stevie and Lindsay and all their trauma and heartache AND Stevie and Mick who had their own off and on thing as well. This will forever be my favorite performance of all time. Like Disney movie but if love were as realistically intoxicating and messy as it often is. “Til the sound of my voice will haunt you” And it does.

Mick Fleetwood the drummer is the leader of the group, he once had an affair with Stevie Nicks hence her bust up with Lyndsey Buckingham. The late Christine McVie the lady on the keyboard was originally into classical music as her father was a leading violinist and music teacher. She was once a member of a blues band called “Chicken Shack”, she was a co-writer of some of their songs, her maiden name then was Christine Perfect.
She was married to the bass player John McVie from Fleetwood Mac at one time which is when she joined the group. Eight of the songs she either wrote or co-wrote were on Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hits album in 1988, “Don’t Stop” and “Songbird” were two of her songs from “Rumours.”
“Got a Hold on Me” is a good song from her, well worth watching.

    Stumbled across ur reaction.
This old fart grew up with Mac/Nicks.
She/they are legends of soft rock from the 60’s to current.
Stevie, at 76, is still touring.
    Appreciate ur polite reaction.
They are TWO TIME rock n roll Hall of Fame inductees. Thank you
They helped define the 70’s. Thx again

Steivie and Lindsey were a couple several years before Mick Fleetwood recruited Lindsey to be their lead guitarist. Lindsey insisted Stevie join the band as well and the rest is history.

The earlier breakout album, 'Rumours' was about all the internal relationships breaking apart. Often, they would all write to the other via music. This was her response to Lyndsey and she was mad when it was not included on the album back in the day. As she predicted, the song 20 years on did win awards. She also shared she loved getting to scream at Buckingham through this song while they would tour.

She also got in a fight with mick Fleetwood I believe because he wouldn’t let her have the song for her album. So they held the song hostage. So much drama in this band but they thrived in it. Amazing music.

Fleetwood Mac started as blues-rock band. Peter Green was a huge fan of probably the most famous bluesman Robert Johnson, while Jeremy Spencer mastered slide guitar just like his hero Elmore James. Please consider reacting to their early stuff like: Shake Your Moneymaker, Dust My Broom, Coming Home or Doctor Brown. Regards.

Yes! Not to mention the original “Black Magic Women” (yes, started as a Fleetwood Mac song!), and the awesome rock classic “Oh Well”. And there’s lots of great music in between during the Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch eras also. I’m a huge fan of the highly underrated album KILN HOUSE, a really good “roots rock” album. Lots of rockabilly, and 50’s style rock and roll. And the classic “Station Man”, which may be the only song from that era which later versions of Fleetwood Mac would sometimes perform (along with another great song from the later just pre-Stevie and Lindsey era, the Bob Welch penned, “Hypnotized”).

Stevie's voice is deeper and more experienced in the latter years. I have always loved the Rumors album. I think The Dance, their reunion album is my favorite.
Silver Springs was released December 20th 1976, on the Rumors album.
