If you've always wanted to cruise the streets in style AND enjoy a level of luxury and dependability that can only be found in a showroom fresh modern car, this slick Thunderbird is exactly what you've been looking for!
The Thunderbird came to life in 1954 as a sensational 1955 production car which fired imaginations and became an instant classic. In 1999, Ford decided it would honor the original car by building a new model that would turn just as many heads; and this generation, affectionately dubbed the 'retrobird', was rolling down the production line within two years. To be honest, it's pretty difficult to describe a car like this pristine T-bird. You kinda just want to say "imagine what it would be like to find one that hasn't been driven" because that's how nice the car really is. It was obviously pampered and exceptionally well cared for as its 50th Anniversary exclusive Cashmere paint looks just as good as it did when the car rolled out of a Ford showroom. And from its excellent shine to its dent and chip-free composite panels it's probably one of the nicest 2005 Thunderbirds on the planet.
Power for this 2005 'bird comes from a 3.9 liter 32 valve DOHC V8 which was developed by former Ford subsidiary Jaguar and code named the AJ35. The Ford specific AJ35, which was manufactured here in America, utilizes a two-state variable valve timing system, fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, a special one-piece cast camshaft and reinforced plastic intake manifold to create 280 horsepower and 286 lb./ft. of torque. Aesthetically, the entire engine is hidden under an attractive plastic shroud which trades a teal inlayed Thunderbird logo and a chrome "V8" emblem for a traditional view of working bits. However, you can still plainly see how well maintained everything is, from the cars sparkling clean inner fenders, to its non-yellowed master cylinder.
In the late 90s and early 00s Ford developed one global rear wheel drive platform, codenamed DEW, which was to underpin everything from select Jaguars to the fifth generation Mustang. Those competent roots supply this awesome Thunderbird with a sophisticated independent front and rear Macpherson strut suspension which mixes aluminum control arms with a host of other weight saving techniques to create a smooth ride and composed road manners. Behind the engine, a 5-speed automatic transmission sends power to a fresh 8 inch Ford rear end with sporty 3.58 gears. And at the corners of the car, four wheel disc brakes ride behind high class 17 inch machine finished wheels which spin body-matched Thunderbird center caps inside of 235/50 Michelin Pilot radials.
Ford began the 21st century by producing some of the more impressive and detail oriented interior designs to ever hit the market, and the 50th Anniversary exclusive tri-tone cockpit in this pristine Thunderbird is one of their best designs. The driver and passenger are treated with heated, full-power Cashmere leather seats which have been color-matched to the exterior paint and feature embossed 50th Anniversary headrest logos. Below the seats, day-one fresh carpet is protected by thick floor mats and bordered by cool Thunderbird branded sill plates. And at the sides of the seats, winged black, white and Cashmere door panels hold great looking metal trim above controls for both the power windows and power door locks. At the front of the car, a highly detailed dash props Turquoise tipped needles in front of satin finished and chrome trimmed gauges; and a 6 disc in-dash CD changer rides next to attractive metal trim and a glove box mounted commemorative plaque. Below the dash, a great looking console holds a dual zone climate control system and a Cashmere topped shift knob in front of a leather stitched console and a sculpted waterfall back panel.
Like their predecessors, these cars have built a legacy of cruising, seeing and being seen, showing up in style and looking fantastic! Call, click or visit RKMotorsCharlotte.com for more information on this awesome car!

I own a "triple black" '02 with 19,000 miles. I had wanted one for years, but the usual life things were always at hand (children, mortgage, practicality of a station wagon,etc.). Then I retired and we could afford it. It's so fun to drive, lots of looks or people waving. One afternoon last year one was actually coming in the opposite direction on the road toward me. Couldn't believe my eyes. The guy in the other one was just as amazed. It was like an ad.

I drive an 04 Pacific Coast Special to work each day through the North East Texas country side with the top down of course. There is no better way to travel on asphalt.

Beautiful cars. Just got one at Mecum, a black one with a black interior with red seat inserts , steering wheel and gearshift knob. A moose.

You're right. The Mustang was actually created because the Thunderbird was so expensive, and in a documentary one person considered it "the poor mans Thunderbird." But Mustangs are everywhere, so they really aren't as special. I've got a 96 myself. It's rarity is a major factor as to why I love it.

I'm in the market for one of these now. This brand new was priced at $50,000 and now I seen a 2005 low miles for $15,000 I've never owned a Convertable. Are all 2005 T- Birds 50th Anniversary trimmed?

They all have the fiftieth anniversary emblem in place of the fender louvers. The actual 1500 50th editions are cashmere in color with specific options that set them apart: 50th logo in each seat, chrome tip on the hood scoop and anniversary emblem on the passenger side of the dash.
