Hi Lorriane, thank you. I always love turning plain fondant into something that looks realistic. Edible tints are such a great way to add different shades of colour to help it all come to life. I'm so glad you like the colour combinations. x
Hi Lyn, love your video's🥰👍 I have a question, do you ever use Crisco as a glue? Because I always use it on my cake boards,(and dummies) never with water. It started a few years ago (almost 13🙈) as a tip from my instructor, that it was easier if I made a mistake to take it of and use again (with water the fondant was wet and more difficult to reuse) and Crisco was easier to move/correct/reuse. Thanks and have a great weekend!!😉👍
Sometimes I cover them as I'm making the cake, but you can cover them in advance and let the fondant set, to make it easier to transfer over your cake.
Hi Heather, if you head over to my blog I actually have a list of all the edible tints that I used. www.cakesbylynz.co.uk/index.php/2020/01/how-to-cover-a-cake-board-basic-fondant-wood-grain-stone-effect/ I love how easy with edible tints it is for cakes to look realistic.
Hi Helen, I am so glad the video is useful. Also yes, thank you so much for asking. It really does feel like home now. I am just trying to work out how to decorate each room, especially the kitchen, just to make it a little more to our taste. But I am loving being in and all unpacked, thank you. x x
Hi Branda, For the ribbon I also use a tiny piece of double sided tape. I just add a small piece to the side of the board and a small piece to the end of the ribbon.
But what happens if you need to write on the fondant with letter stampers? You have to do it while the fondant is soft so how can I do this if I need the fondant to harden before I place the cake?
Hi, Yes modelling chocolate is a little firmer than fondant and I find doesn't set as hard, but there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to cover your boards with it if you would prefer to use it over fondant.

What width is your ribbon?
Hi Shona, the ribbon is 10mm thick so it fits perfectly around the edge of the board.
@@CakesbyLynz thank you for replying xxx
What fondant do you use forgot to ask
Hi, what brand of fondant do you use please?
Hi Sarah, For all the boards in this video I used the renshaw fondant.

I wonder can you cover it with modeling chocolate?
