How To Create Fondant Ruffles - 3 Ruffle Cake Decorating Techniques

- Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. One effect that I love on a cake are ruffles and for this weeks tutorial I am going to show you how by using 3 different fondant cutters you can create 3 different techniques.
If you're a beginner to cake decorating or just looking for a new style of ruffle these designs are so easy to create. They can be a little time consuming but it is definitely worth it.
For the 3 styles I will be using a circle cutter, a square cutter and a 5 petal cutter. These styles would all be perfect for an occasion, including if you are making a birthday cake, baby shower cakes or wedding cakes.

Ive only ever used the circle for ruffles and the square if i needed it to look like tissue paper coming out of a gift bag/parcel now i know itll look brilliant on the side of the cake too, BUT my fav is the blossom cutter soooo frilly will defo be using that one next time. thanks for sharing it Lynz xx

Gorgeous! I did this once with circles for a 18cm diameter cake (and it was tall too but I can’t remember the height) and omg it took me forever!!!

I love ruffles, but they take soooo long to do - esp. the flower version! I did a 2 tier cake in it once... took me most of a day just on the ruffles.

Hi Kristy, Oh I can imagine a 2 tier cake did take quite a while. If you were doing a 2 tier cake the petal cutter version would take a little while to do!
