I have been in the auto body industry for over 50 years. In my opinion this is the best way to start a QUALITY restoration job. All the past sins are revealed and you have clean metal to work with. Sandblasting and media blasting with all its problems cannot hold a candle to this method.
❤❤❤
I love the new camera perspective! Thanks for rotating it 90 degrees! Subscribed.
I’m glad you enjoy it and I appreciate you subscribing. There will be many more like this to come!
Thank you for landscape! These vids are really satisfying, being able to watch on TV or computer as well as phone is great
Finally, landscape with HD. I like watching all the rinses and all the dips. Great video. Great car.
Thanks 👍 glad you enjoyed it!
Just subbed, you make excellent work I think and I find it very comforting that there are people like you going the extra mile to bring classics back to life!
Love the landscape format. Thanks for switching!
No problem! It definitely makes it better for everyone to watch
Love the new format! Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. Very interesting to see the processes. That BMW looked almost mint compared to the ones in Europe!!!
Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! This car was definitely in solid shape!
Congratulations! Your videos are great to watch and very much appreciated. Thank you.
Glad you like them! I appreciate you watching, and thank you!
I enjoy your videos! And Landscape is definitely better, glad you switched! 😎
Thanks! Wish I would have done it sooner!
Excellent, landscape video 👍 you have earned the subscription! 😁
The process to the finished product is fascinating. Great channel.
Thanks buddy! I really appreciate that. I’m glad you enjoy it!
Good work. I appreciate the landscape format. Thanks,
Thanks buddy! No problem
One of your best !.
Awesome! One of my schoolfriend dad had one of these around 1980. Us on the backseat without seatbelts. Hell on wheels! 🥳🫶🫶🫶
Cheers from Germany 🇩🇪
Awesome! Cheers!
That looked like the toughest paint/soundproofing peeling off ever.
BMW paint and soundproofing is always crazy tough. Porsche is another one that has very tough soundproofing. Their factory paint is pretty easy to remove though.
I honestly love this stuff so much it's making me want to open this business up here in Canada. I work in the auto industry and have almost 2 decades of clients, many of whom would use this service. I'd love to know more!
I’m glad you enjoy it. I don’t own the business so I can’t give any trade secrets out. You’d have to call the owners or email them to see if they’d give you info
Awesome nice work and clean to start the repairs on this car, greetings from Remi from Belgium
Love the horizonal a lot better. Great video. Thanks.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy it
The vids are getting better and better! Damn, I wish I would have done this with my Camaro convertible.
G'day from Australia. Great work Love the format.
Thanks buddy! I appreciate it
Great Job as always.
Thanks buddy!
Love the Landscape mode!
This has quickly become my second favorite "dips" video.
Very interesting to watch. Plz continue the great work 👍
Thank you 👍 I definitely will!
loving the new perspective, much better!
I’m glad you like it. I appreciate you watching
SWEET. LOVE BMW’S
Awesome work dude 😁
Just for future reference the way that cars name is traditionally said in english speaking countries is "two double oh two" or "two dub" for short. The turbo versions of these like the one pictured here are very special.
Not sure what English speaking country you live in, but in the states, you won't hear this called anything but a "two thousand two". Two double oh two will get you strange looks in North America.
The way you do your job
Awsom
this work makes repairing the sheet much easier, see how it really is and where repairs were made and any kind of corrosion appears, fantastic this is the dream of any car restorer
❤❤❤
Love the 2002!
Great Job Mr 👍
I have to see that live one day! I would consider flying from Europe to see that :)
What chemicals are you using to do the stripping, neutralizing, rust removal, etc.?
Love the format
Thanks!
Cool dude and nice video
Schönes und seltenes Teil, den BMW wieder in den Originalzustand wieder herzustellen würde mir auch spass machen 😊👍
Great job.
wow it even removed that sound proofing inside off! I remember chipping that off by hand took days!!
Landscape mode! Thank you!
🤙 thanks for watching!!!
I am very interested to see you. I love seeing other people's cars getting better and better. I have one question. In order to make it easier to remove the paint, I think it is effective to use chemicals to expose the metal base of the car body. But what about hard-to-reach pockets like the inside of the side sills and the inside of the rear quarter panel? There are cases where the electro-deposited paint from the manufacturing of new cars remains partially, and won't the peeled parts become more likely to rust?
Just spray cavity wax in there?
Looks quite a good shell should be a great restore.
As someone who does a lot of pressure washing myself, if I can give you a tip.... Always start your turbo nozzles pointed straight down if possible. They last waaaay longer. I dont know how much you pay for yours, but mine are about $150-200 a piece for mine.
I actually didn’t know that. I appreciate the info!
Thank you for this tip. I was also unaware. I’m going to start doing this now.
Man, this process is awesome! How did you even get into this kind of work? If you don't mind me asking
Thank you! I was actually a bouncer and bartender at a bar and the manager of this company (who is now the owner) was also a bouncer. He saw how hard of a worker I was. one of their guys quit so he asked if I was interested lol. I was like heck yeah! Been doing it for 10 years now. Not the most interesting story lol
HA - thanks - the landscape view is MUCH better. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
I had one of these when I was stationed in Germany and I missed that little car so much. I'm hoping that someone doesn't amazing rest I want this thing I think it would look awesome
Another thanks for the landscape perspective. You should mount a GoPro on the powerwasher wand for an interesting shot.
what is the difference between sandblasting and acid. I find your method really good
I had an 86 Mercedes Benz E190. It had that rubberized undercoating on it. It's a tuff coating until it gets a scratch or an abrasion. Then rust will form and it will hold water and rust out in that area. It is a good idea but not fool proof.
Horaayyy for landscape!
Nice Work!
Thank you!
Thank you
Good video bro
Curious to know the pro and cons of doing this over a media blast such as dry ice or soda blasting.
I did many by beadblasting . this seems to be very very good and solid. However I have a lot of questions about the procedure, and the cost. Where can I find that ?like 1st basc PH>7 how high and what to use? Acid to kill the rust laster? how to neutralize and prevent the chassis then from immediate rusting coz its wshed,...many questions... and how much wouod be a degreasing/derusting of a car body? bikes too? thank you
Buen trabajo
Thank you!
Fine job as always guys>
Thanks buddy!
I like your job
Landscape! Yum!
❤
So many occupations out there the worker very seldom gets to see the final product. Would be great to see the fruits of labor's.
If that's an original Turbo, that is extremely rare and extremely expensive compared to any other 2002. You can tell the Germans certainly did not intend any of that to be removed.
It had the turbo badge on the fenders. Apparently the restoration process is going to be featured in a magazine
1672 Turbos were made. Who hell knows how many of those are left?
Cant be many. @minute_of_dangle will be on the lookout for that feature!

Not authentic or original. BMW cut both layers and welded the rear fenders to install larger tires and then used fiberglass fender flares all around. This 2002 has hackjob rolled fenders, in terrible rusty shape. This is thankfully just a replica.
its always nice to see this. however though im wondering how you will get all the rustprotection back in all the nooks and crannies since you pretty much removed every coating of the car. dip it in primer like the factory do? pls enlighten me.
Unfortunately I don’t restore them. A lot of the shops that use us apply a phosphoric based rust converter in all the cavities. They use 360degree nozzles and pull it through the braces and quarters. It creates a phosphate coating that protects the metal and you can prime over it. Then all the seams are treated with a cavity wax that penetrates all the pinch welds and overlapping metal.
Interesting to watch...do you have the capability to do some sort of dipping like primer or sealer to prevent surface rust in transit back to the owner?
We dip it in a temporary water based rust inhibitor. Lasts up to 30 days
Nice RCBS hat 😎
I’m presuming that the liquid can be re used or possibly filtered?
these BMWs are stubborn! 2002 Turbo are worth a fortune. Incredibly rare car and a really good restoration candidate at any cost.
Landscape FTW!
Ohhohoho….. That’s some good landscape
❤
How long do you keep it in the acid bath
I have seen this done properly several times and the shells were fantastic by various companies. This one was not done well. You could still see the black rust pitting in the firewall seam and in the boot spare wheel well.
Как же хорошо были покрашены борта и как хорошо держалась шумоизоляция в салоне!
It was definitely some tough stuff
Интересно, что за жидкость в ванне?
That will be a fantastic restoration when it’s done!👌
Definitely! I can’t wait to see it
Beautiful ginger bimmer ❤
Wow 50 years old 🦖
Have a question. 1960's -1970's GM cars have a data plate that is riveted to the firewall with special rivet's. The data plate I believe is made out of aluminum. Would the aluminum data plate hold up to the chemicals in rust removal tank?
No it would get eaten. We tell everyone to remove any tags. We always go over them just in case. 75% of customers forget to remove or miss some of the tags. Then we call ask for permission to drill the rivets out and save the tag
That’s my dream car……enjoy her
I almost got worried seeing a 2002 body being lifted, these things seem to have been made from cheese, so even it you had one with a trailer hitch, you probably shouldn't tow anything, as it might bend the whole car by the C pillars.
Oddly... it looks like a fun job to be dipping cars like that, similarly as sand/glass/soda/water/etc blasting, they kinda soothe my ADHD in a way, or trigger hyperfixation for a while, so I enjoy watching it, and the times I've gotten to use a cabinet to sandblast stuff people had to come tear me away for lunch. XD
Это лучший способ подготовки кузова к рестоврации!Можно сказать даже абсолютный!
Только по сути с наружкой и всю внутрянку , скрытые полости, оголили, если после этой ванны её как по заводу в грунт окунуть
Is this in the U.S.? If so, where??
Having owned a 2002 and had it restored, I’m amazed there was that much metal left! Unitary body is sadly a total rotbox over time.
Wowww... 😮
Great job. Definitely better in land scape. Where are you located?
Thanks! Nanty glo pa. 3s chemicals llc
Nice work because you understand that all cars that pass through the theory will be qualitatively restored (google translate)
Hello I'm just wondering, is the acid very corrosive or is it quite mild, and how often do you have to change the acid and alkali baths or drain them to get the sludge out? Thanks!
It’s mild. Food grade. Comparable to a strong vinegar. Acid about every 2 years, alkaline paint remover lasts about 5 years because we can spike it
@@minute_of_dangle Thanks for replying. I had a BMW 2002Tii in about 2005 for £250 that had been standing for years. I put my foot in the footwell to get in and the entire floor of the car fell out. Food cans now no doubt.
К сожалению ничего не понимаю что говорит автор канала,( но работа выполнена великолепно !
Use the translate option 👍. The cc at the top off the screen
Where is your business located? Thanks
No more vertical? 👍
That's gonna be a sweet ride once it's painted. Your content is like a caffeine fix!
All landscape now! Except for shorts. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy it!
He finally figured out how to turn the phone
@@Christoph-sd3zi lol it was quite the puzzle
That's pretty neat
The second life of the car
Like fron Brazil
I would love to drop my 65 MGB into one of these tanks. The only issue would be not very much would come back out. lol
Lol
where are you located?
It would be helpful if you just add a notation indicating the duration spent in each tank as you lift it out.
I’ll definitely remember to do that next time. I appreciate your feedback
The BMW 2002 Turbo is a rare and valuable car, with only 1,672 produced in 1974-1975. Nice examples can go for between $150K and $200K.
Very good channel
Thank you very much!
Where I can get a quote? I have a project that I'll need the paint stripped out

Thank you! I appreciate it and welcome!
It's a miracle it doesn't have any rust on it.
And do you somehow protect bare metal from rusting after you finish cleaning it ?
I was curious about that too.
The quality of paint ander coat was just good as GM products
