Enjoying the dipping videos, but would love to follow up on who’s doing the final restoration, if any of them have UA-cam channels, or could you go visit every few months to report on progress of the interesting ones?
Apologies if you've already been asked this. Do the fluids in the tanks have to be replaced every so often or can the fluids be strained/filtered, only requiring a top up?
Appreciate you recording the underneath clean up don't see that very much, but it's a good addition considering it's the place most abused by road debrie thanks
I have worked on several E-Types, and for the age, this one is in really good shape. Usually the floors and below the battery are history. She will be sweet when done. I am curious why the transmission tunnel was hacked up like it is. There is a good story behind that one for sure.
If you think this one is in "really good shape", I'd hate to see what you think is bad shape. Admittedly not much rust, but having more than just a touch of body filler here and there isn't indicative of what I'd call a good bodyshell.
When I see any of these late-50s/early-60s round-body cars, like a Porsche or similar, I EXPECT to see tons of bondo. All the restorations seem to be really banged up. And this thing is in 'good shape' only by comparison. Whoever does the body work from this point on is going to spend a LOT of time on the dolly and hammer. Or use tons of bondo again. Several of those patches are kind of wrinkled vis-a-vis the neighboring metal.@@anonymousplanetfambly4598
From the damage, it looks like it got t-boned on the right side at some point in its life. Would explain the brazing when the seams popped open and the crinkled parts being largely mid quarter up to the A pillar.
I live about 20 miles away from where this E Type was built in Coventry UK . still see a few driving about The E Type was Enzo Ferrari’s favourite looking car 👍
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’d really have to back in the archives to find that out lol. I know some of the old Cadillacs we did almost maxed out the tank. We did a 1952 el dorado that if I remember correctly almost maxed the tank out. As for height the VW bus we did maxed out our height
Good video, love the before and after shots. WTF was going on on the transmission tunnel? Looks like someone cut a huge access hole in sections, bent it back to bodge a repair rather than drop the engine and transmission.
Where are you located. Do redip in the neutralizer after you power wash. My concern on. Dipping a chassis is the weeping from weld seams later on. How do you completly neutralize the metal . I love the results though. Good work. Quit your full time job. Dedicate your time to this. Raise your prices to off set you lost wages. We can t find really good dippers here in the wisconsin area
I was just wondering about the approximate cost to clean one of these car’s ? I understand that it depends on the car and condition, but it would interesting to know. Thank You
My other job isn’t accepted by social media as much. I’m a longrange precision rifle instructor for a company called @ghostfirearmstraining. I’m going to start doing videos on my bosses channel with him too though.
someone needs to start offering affordable EPD coating. this way after metal work the car can be hot dip galvanized and EPD coated, thus preventing corrosion and ensuring the car will have a very long rust free life !
Lots of cars came from the factory with a skim coat of “stopper” (bondo) all over the car because many of the body panels were brazed or were welded together. My Austin Healey 3000 has aluminum shrouds that were welded together from panels at the factory.
Yep, Graber enterprises in Indiana has E coated cars for us heres Doug the owners number. He told me to give it out to anyone who has any questions (574) 202-4636
When you talk about so much 'bondo' in the car does that mean the restorers didn't do enough work on the metal and used the filler to get it done quicker?
Superb Video. These E-Type Jags were absolute rust buckets. No surprise there is not much left of the original car. Salted roads absolutely killed these cars, the metal used was garbage. If you want a good chassis get one from California and work with that. If you want one of these to sit in your showroom, all good. But they are death traps to drive. Get hit by a modern vehicle at anything above 25mph and you are toast.
I'm assuming you do the doors, trunk lid and front clip etc separately, but don't bother showing what's basically a duplication? I really do hope you get more classic British metal in. Thanks.
That chemical tank fills me with horror. I know from personal experience what an Alkaline solution can do to the skin. Great video but please be careful,
The E type was not very well made and was cheap to buy in the UK. Those sold in the UK rusted away very quickly. The restored ones are far better than the originals.
I don't think you'll ever find a panel beater good enough to finish a car body without skim coating. It's a fine art when done right. Mind you, you don't want to see 1/2 inch of filler anywhere.
The E-Type Jag. Ahhhhh. When Britain had an indigenous, mass production car industry in charge of it's own destiny. When it comes to automotive technical innovation, prototype development and limited production runs Britain is up there with the very, very best but when it comes to long term investment and mass volume production- we're parc.
Poor old pussycat has had a hard life. Someone will be working really hard to 'iron' all the ripples. Though unlike most not real rusty. Your tank will be polluted with 50+ years of oil coating underneath.
unbelievably solid car

Always so satisfying to see them "come clean", especially when they come out this nice.
Appreciate you recording the underneath clean up don't see that very much, but it's a good addition considering it's the place most abused by road debrie thanks
Fantastic result good job !!...
Fantastic. Thx for taking us through the process.
Thank you! It was my pleasure
I get mesmerized watching your work you make them all look Fantastic, ready for any body work, God Bless.
Thank you! I appreciate that! I’m glad you enjoy them
I did a couple when I was younger. The front nose has so much body filler. Good stuff. Such a beautiful car when done!

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. The guy who’s doing it will be watching this video I hope he chimes in.
Could have been a V8 swap as it looks like a 68 I worked on- it hit a tree in 71 and sat in the desert, the body was perfect up to the nose
If you think this one is in "really good shape", I'd hate to see what you think is bad shape. Admittedly not much rust, but having more than just a touch of body filler here and there isn't indicative of what I'd call a good bodyshell.

Hey that’s Jimmy Hoffa in the back seat ! 😂🍺👍
LOVE your videos friend! I look forward to all of the upcoming videos! My pops loved this channel, He built a lot of cars.
I love watching your videos the cars are awesome and unique
From the damage, it looks like it got t-boned on the right side at some point in its life. Would explain the brazing when the seams popped open and the crinkled parts being largely mid quarter up to the A pillar.
You are correct I talked to the owner after I made the video and he said it was T boned. Good eye
@@minute_of_dangle - Small history in the auto insurance world. I 'see stuff'. :)
Awesome work, love that view from the down side of the car 👏👏👏👏
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it
Bondo - the bodyman's best friend! I've used tons of the stuff when creating subtle mild customs!
That pressure washer is the absolute best. Only something like a submersible could replicate that.
Really sweet car!
Very brave.
What do they do when the ropes go lose and there is nothing left?

Enjoyed it. Thank you.

Thanks you for watching
@@minute_of_dangle your very welcome
My Fav car, and this one is in pretty good condition, compared to a lot of UK cars
Nice. Totally need to do this to my '56 Chevy truck. It needs a bath to be restored again.
Its about 3000....not very expensive.
We just got a 57 Chevy truck in today!
@@minute_of_dangle please do a video on it 😊
@@yvette.3075 I definitely will!
Not too shabby 👍👍
Awesome video! It would be neat to know how much weight you're removing from the cars.
Absolutely gorgeous platform to begin work. Out of curiosity, what is the longest car that has been dipped? Thank you for another awesome video.🙏💜

Another great video , i always enjoy watching them ... thanks 👍
Thank you! I really appreciate the positive feedback
Keep up the good work brother
Came out beautiful bro 👍🏽👍🏽
How cool! 🤩💯🫶
Thanks!
Спасибо за познавательное и интересное видео!

Love the show from Vermont
Thank you! I appreciate you watching!
why was there so much bondo? that thing looks amazing.

For a 55 year old e-type that's in amazing condition.
Great video!

What is the benefit of this process over something like sandblasting?
someone needs to start offering affordable EPD coating. this way after metal work the car can be hot dip galvanized and EPD coated, thus preventing corrosion and ensuring the car will have a very long rust free life !
My favorite part is watching the bondo come off.
Looks good, I feel bad for grandma getting dipped 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
hello what kind of acid do you use?
What happens next? Does it get primed and then sits for a few years?
Nice work
I have 2 xke's. Both need restoration. What does a dip like this cost?
You should make a Q&A video. I guess many of your subscribers have questions.
Like the meadville hat!
Lots of cars came from the factory with a skim coat of “stopper” (bondo) all over the car because many of the body panels were brazed or were welded together. My Austin Healey 3000 has aluminum shrouds that were welded together from panels at the factory.
How much was this dip? I have a 62 e-type that I'm starting a restoration on next year.
Hi. My English is poor. What liquid is used in the bowl?
This is great, just keep on! Honestly can't stop watching this, what will you find when stripped to the metal... ;-)
Thank you! I’m really glad people are taking to my videos. I’ll keep them coming
Clearly, the trunk floor is in GREAT shape. Since it fills slowly and empties just as slowly.
Lol very true.
It wiĺl be bare metal inside the skills bulkhead and overlap joins nice work
Love the way you guys over the pond pronounce Jaguar as
Jagwarr 😅 great video the bottom of your tanks must be thick with body filler
😂 it definitely isn’t fun to clean
I heard "jag-wire"...the correct pronunciation is either "Jag-you-are" or "Jag-you-ur", I've heard both from the Conventry folks.
@@anonymousplanetfambly4598
It's Jag...you....ar in Oz.
It would be great if you could get pictures of the cars after restoration from the owners
ooo saving a classic!

Yep, Graber enterprises in Indiana has E coated cars for us heres Doug the owners number. He told me to give it out to anyone who has any questions (574) 202-4636
Anyone know where this shop located?
When you talk about so much 'bondo' in the car does that mean the restorers didn't do enough work on the metal and used the filler to get it done quicker?
Usealy they do. It’s cheap and easy to get a good finish especially after paint.
Superb Video.
These E-Type Jags were absolute rust buckets. No surprise there is not much left of the original car. Salted roads absolutely killed these cars, the metal used was garbage.

Never get a pommy one, most have no bottom!
Thank you! I was so surprised how light it was. Two of us picked it up no problem.
Hard right front collision.
JAG YOU ARE is how it’s pronounced 👍🏻
A kitty that liked it's bath.
😂
I just can't warm up to the build quality of the old Jaguar chassis.
I'm assuming you do the doors, trunk lid and front clip etc separately, but don't bother showing what's basically a duplication?
I really do hope you get more classic British metal in. Thanks.
Yep, I usually post that stuff on my shorts or other platforms. We used to get a lot. More than American cars. Kinda switched in the last 3 years
👍👍👍
Men u make me to an channel junk, the impressives show is the HD one .. nice Business u have.
That car is rough. Buckets and buckets of money to fix that old girl.
Wondered why there was no bracing of the doors then saw the metal frame under the car
That chemical tank fills me with horror. I know from personal experience what an Alkaline solution can do to the skin. Great video but please be careful,
👍🦘
Interesting that Dangle now uses the term filler instead of Bondo.
'jag-war'
The E type was not very well made and was cheap to buy in the UK. Those sold in the UK rusted away very quickly. The restored ones are far better than the originals.
The 90's redo was a bit of a hack job. They replaced sheet metal, but they didn't do it right.
Yeah there was definitely a few rough areas.
She'd start rusting in seconds in the UK !! Yes lots of poor bodge repairs done years ago when they were almost valueless.
I don't think you'll ever find a panel beater good enough to finish a car body without skim coating. It's a fine art when done right. Mind you, you don't want to see 1/2 inch of filler anywhere.
You will ........ but they £cost
Something wrong with that car,,, where are all the rust holes?

Even that bare metal tub is sexy as hell!!
They are sweet!
There is NO WAH in Jaguar,Jag-u-ar🇬🇧
Great video! One thing, as a mechanic who has been in the auto/body industry for 30 years, remove the word BONDO from your vocabulary. BODY FILLER!
Yeah you’re right. I do need to get out of that habit.
And thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it
Let’s see………Ran when parked?……..No, that’s not it.
Just needs carb work
It's a jag-u-are, NOT a jag-u-wire. 😏
our shop is starting an xke - what was the total cost of dipping - thanks Mark
Dude, it's Jag-wahr, not Jag-wire
*jag-wire
Good grief...that car is ROUGH.

He has lol. I’m on my third one
where did the passenger go? haha

JAG-
"Jag-wire"?
"Jag-you-are" is how it's pronounced.
