There are a lot of highland games in North America! Particularly on the east coast. How did you not know? 😮😂😂😂 But so happy that you enjoyed the whole spectacle. It is pretty cool.

Where we are from in the states they are not common at all. It was a very cool experience. Thanks for watching!

Great to see you enjoying the games. My dad used to compete in the games in his youth(220 & 440 yards , long, high (and occasionally triple) jump, shotput and hammer). He worked as a farm labourer but made twice as much money from prizes at the games as he did from the farming. He travelled all over the north of Scotland competing at different games all through the summer. After he retired (aged 36!) we would still visit several games per year. My favourites were Aboyne and Ballater - Braemar was way too busy!

Wow! Great story. Thanks for commenting. It's very cool to see how the games were a part of his life not just a simple competition.

Where are you all from in the States? There are Pipe Bands and Scottish Highland Games throughout the U.S.

We are from Kentucky. I don't think I have ever seen any advertisements for highland games there.

They are pretty widespread, we have several near where I stay in Stirling which is bang centre of the lowlands. But the best are in the Highlands (I guess the clue is in the name!).

    Great vlog, enjoyed watching.
PS : did anyone else notice Balmoral used the Irish spelling (Céad míle fáilte) for the traditional welcome instead of the Gaidhlig spelling ?
