Hi folks. Please remember this episode was filmed way before our last 3 videos where I mention diabetes so it shows how I was then. Things have improved a lot since then. We lost a few subscribers because of the last 3 videos but on the positive side we seem to have motivated many into trying to improve their health and we are happy with that. It’s not my intention to change this into a diabetes vlog and once I have shared what I have learned I will leave it at that. The channel is called Life is too short in memory of my sister who died before she got to use her campervan. The subject is relevant and I make no apologies for sharing my experience with others in the same boat. To those who have told me they don’t want to see anything about the diabetes and only want the travel I ask you to simply ignore those episodes which are clearly labelled. To the 99.9% of you who have responded with kindness and support thank you. ❤️
What?? It's like being in a big adopted family, so carry on as we all wish you well and take the T2D journey with you! ❤ loving the dignified response...🎉
I'm still here. I love the channel and I am grateful for all the time you have felt like friends to me. You do you. People are free to choose if they want to stay or go. Stay strong x
I love absolutely ALL of your videos and I think that it’s great that you’ve been raising awareness of Type 2 diabetes. I can never understand why a small minority of people watch things that they clearly don’t enjoy - and then complain!
Ignore them , you keep putting out exactly what you want! It upsets me to think they may have upset you . Super informative videos on both subjects exceptional content thank you both keep it up x
Love seeing your travels and enjoy these videos.I think talking about your diabetes is a good thing people need to be aware of their health and any information is helpful.Keep it up 🇦🇺👍🙏
I watch all your videos. The diabetes ones too. I love your travels and the personal touches. Diabetes is part of the personal touches. Keep any and all videos coming. Mary
I was diagnosed with type2 three months ago, ive lost 1st 1lb up to now, felt devastated when i recieved the news but vowed to do everything i could to reverse it. I have enjoyed the episodes on diabetes, its been interesting and informative watching a fellow sufferer tackle diabetes their way. Good luck Ken.
Brilliant video! Well done! Loved seeing Castle Douglas, the sheep, goats and Red Kites. Was in that part of Southwest Scotland more than 20 years ago. It's wonderful to see the area again-- and more-- thanks to your videos! Thank you very much indeed!!
I enjoy all your vlogs Ken and Carol, whether it be travelling, history, wildlife, food, gadgets or health. Keep being you because that is why most of your followers follow. x
Dank jullie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ken keep on being yourselves and thank you for taking us along on your health journey. I did not know about your beloved sister and again thank you for sharing this personal and touching information. Great videos which I never miss. Take care keep travelling 🥰
I love all your vlogs both. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 2 years ago like my mother and grandmother before me. I was told that I'd probably have to inject insulin which scared me so much that I cut out carbs for a month. I went on meds not injections. I generally eat hearty meals with potatoes, bread etc but I vastly reduced all sweets, chocs, cakes and biscuits. My glucose reduced considerably and I lost 3 stone and I'm healthier than I've been for years. Take care both.
Don’t listen to the naysayers, that was a rather big Scottish breakfast, but it was perhaps your “last supper” of big Scottish breakfast ‘s! What you have shared about being diagnosed type2 and the changes you are making to your eating and lifestyle is helpful to us all, of a certain age, with a certain body type, at the same risk. For the 2-3 people who have left, they were clearly not genuine followers and so self centred towards their own pleasure that you won’t miss them. Loving your Scottish touring series, you are helping us Scots appreciate even more we have a great country to visit and enjoy, especially in a camper-van. Best wishes to you both and your travels.
My cat was certainly interested in the cat you called over. :) I got quite a bit of walking done today, although unintentional. My minivan has a battery problem. I had to boost it to start, drove for 30 minutes into town, to the hardware store, then it wouldn't start again, and my portable booster didn't have enough charge to get it going again. My fault, as I forgot to charge it. The chap at the store was going to give me a boost, but I still needed groceries and would need another boost from there, so I borrowed one of their small shopping carts, walked five blocks to the groceries, then back to my car. I found my old booster cables, but the young chap had bought some for his car. Monty started up and I drove home. I plugged him in to give the battery a good charge for garbage day, when I have to drive to the dump. And I brought my portable booster in with the groceries and it's charging now. I didn't get my big grocery list done and discovered I forgot onions. Such is life. I have to drive in the other direction, for an hour, next week to go to the pharmacy, so I can either buy onions at a store there or at the farmer's store just past the dump. I must check my tire pressure before the next trip. You have to look after things, if you don't want to get stuck. Lovely greedy goats and birds. :) My village is surrounded by big hills, and the morning sun is glorious. Cheers. Jon in rural BC, Canada
The red kites were amazing!.I've never seen so many birds of prey at one time. That cat was very brave going out but I suppose they've been fed so no danger. The cat was the most beautiful tabby I've seen for a long time (there are wildcats in Scotland so you never know)! Thank you Carol and Ken.Safe travels.See you on the next.
Oh Ken, this was a lovely video as usual for lots of reasons, especially the Kites. I could watch you two talking about paint drying so please ignore those who moan about your diabetes vlogs. It’s their loss. The important thing is that you do all you can to get back to good health and I’m for one very happy to share that journey with you having lost over 2 and a half stone myself and was pre diabetic . Like you say. Life is too short and it really is important to look after ourselves. Your videos take us away from our worries for half an hour or so your videos are good for our health in more ways than one. Keep vlogging your journey to get into shape and teaching us about your experiences living with and trying to reverse diabetes. We will learn a thing or two! Thank you Ken and Carol. Xx
That was the most beautiful start of a video I’ve ever watched. Just watching the clouds slowly pass over your area was breathtaking along with the music, well like I mentioned the best start to a video ever. Thanks for sharing your artistic talent. Cheers Ken, we love Carol too. Journey on my friends. ❤😊❤
Wow that was amazing, the red kite air show plus feeding the mountain goats 🐐 ,,another brill vlog ken & carol ,, loving the disco humidifier 😅 .. ❤Phil/Tina x
I'm not a breakfast eater but I'm reminded of my late uncle who was a big man and owned a company that built highways. My aunt cooked him the most enormous breakfasts: eggs, fried potatoes, breakfast pork chops, biscuits, and a side of ribbon cane syrup which he pored over everything. When I was small I stayed with them at different times and wanted to do the same thing. My aunt wouldn't let me. Hahaha! I love the wee humidifier.
Another great video Carol and Ken and I love the Scottish Borders as that was one of my first child holiday in a holiday cottage just outside new Galloway .
Nothing better, that first cuppa with a wonderful view. Oh Ken, do you remember those lovely breakfasts. Never mind, health comes first. I like B&M, trouble is I always end up buying something I don't really need. I have a Red Kite that sits in the tree at the bottom of my garden most days. Trouble is we have so many in and around Henley now. They make a terrible mess of Kermit if he happens to be in the flight path. 🫣 Take care 👍 🐸
Like a bit of black pudding but sometimes if you take the plastic off first it falls apart. Let us know when the disco is 😂. What a show with the red kites.
Hello you two, lovely filming in a beautiful spot of Schotland. The birds are called Rode Wouw in Dutch, pronounce as wow, like your video is indeed wow. Had to look it up, thought it was a kids kite and raptor as in Jurassic Park🤭.
Great video Carol and Ken. Loved seeing all the beautiful animals and birds ❤. I am interested in what you are doing to help with your diabetes as well. Thanks for keeping us updated. Beautiful scenery in the video. Not sure about the shrimpy nickname. Carol you will have to get own back 😊. Stay well both of you x
I love watching your journies. Enjoy every second of every day. Life is indeed very short and unpredictable . It can change in an instant. Much love to you both❤
Lovely video. I’m always rearranging things in tubs in the van! Keep going with your diabetes videos, they’re very informative and I’ll watch them all. X
So so sorry it's snoopy lol 😆 have a lovely weekend both of you and would reccomend newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas it's absolutely beautiful scenery and the people are so polite 😊 Becky 🇬🇧 xx
Another great video- high point of my Fridays! Ken, ignore the critics- your sharing about diabetes may well prove very useful to some people. Good to know you are doing so well. Cheering on you and Carol❤
I enjoy traveling with you. Go ahead and talk about whatever is on your mind. Pretty sure that's the point of these types of videos. Take care of yourself and each other ❤
Hi, I was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic just over 2yrs ago and while it was a steep learning curve and quite scary in the beginning life goes on. I have since lost 43kgs and have it well under control. Always good listening to other peoples journeys as you can always learn new tips and tricks along the way. Good luck with your new way of life and remember while you do need to be careful, you can still have the odd treat, you just need to pick wisely. 😊 oh and keep the videos coming and I am loving you new motorhome snoopy ❤ stay safe.
I've only just discovered your channel, and I've been watching all your older videos and thoroughly enjoying them. Just finished your Isle of Mann series. Keep enjoying your adventures.❤
Brilliant video again Carol and Ken..👍..we were down at the Red Kites yesterday...absolutely amazing to watch 100+ Kites in action...this trip of yours has been excellent, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it... thanks again for sharing....👍🙂🏴
We have a family of Red Kites in our area of Bedfordshire. I was hoping the family would increase this year, but it doesn’t seem to be happening so far 😢 I love sitting in a quiet garden listening to their peeps as they fly and call to each other. Fantastic photos Ken, especially of them all in a tree. 👍
Just loved the raptures (red kites) I don’t think we have them in NZ the pics of them in the trees was very well done Ken , and the storage boxes were great I love that you show what you do in the van so many UA-camrs dont❤😊
Hi Carol and Ken, I only found your channel a few months ago and lucky for us that we did as we were planning to go to Dumfries & Galloway in September. Your videos from your tour proved to be invaluable as we travelled around and diverted to see places you had shown in your videos (our own private tour guides 😁). I would just like to say thank you, we certainly visited places we would have passed by without your videos. Ken, ignore the bad comments, you’re doing great with regards your diabetes, as shown in your recent videos 😊. Best wishes and thank you to both of you X
Hello again, am enjoying your Scotland videos, i love Scotland, my grandparents on my mother side were Scottish. I agree, loch ken is a lovely name for loch, Visited it once. 😁😁
Hari OM Firstly, Ken, your health effort vids are important, so you do as many as you like (don't know if you know, but mine is a medical background, and I commend you on your thoroughness). Secondly, but equally, what a fantastic addition to the D&G series! I loved every bit of this video today. It's quite fun to see one's own country through others' eyes - and even discover things. I was unaware of the kite centre and have added that to my list of must visits! YAM xx
I for one like that you are sharing your lifestyle changes since finding out you are a type 2 diabetic. It will help others and it is interesting to see how you are modifying your food. Love the video and pictures.
I love watching Red Kites & never tire of their beauty. I live in the Chilterns & we have an abundance of them. Lots of people feed them here which is frowned upon as they have become so used to being fed that they swoop & take food from people's hands now ! It happened to my daughter who was in Marlow with her 1 year old, a RK took a sandwich out of her hand & cut her hand with its talons ! Still love them though, but we're very careful when eating in the garden as they're all around us 😃
Lovely video... so many great sites.. the history, the stone house with the fire place lets the imagination run to what it was like. Vanlife sites are like watching a movie backwards. Enjoyed the goats and the red kites.. and of course the kitty. Wow..because of the calming vibe.. I had to check my blood pressure with my wrist cuff.. 99/65 86 pulse... algined with the video.. great example how tech with nature heals.....TY
I haven't mentioned diabetes . All I will say is you look like its under control so well done that. I really enjoyed this episode. Bless your sister Ken. You're doing her proud. 😊
Thanks to you both for yet another interesting, entertaining and informative jaunt in Galloway. By sheer coincidence I recently received info on the 'Wickerman Festival', usually help late July in Dundrennan, Galloway, though has not happened much since 2017, though a Scottish Newspaper recently mentioned it could have returned this year, but may return in 2025!! Sounds it could be much fun to be there and see 40ft effigy burnt. Loved the breakfast, Indian meal and disco lit air humidifier (must look fun in the dark). We are privileged to share in the joy you both bring. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Watching as per on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 and dunking biscuits 😋 👌 thinking, lovely looking fry up 😊😊😋😋😋😋 goats 🐐 were very talkative 😂😂😂 lovely looking pie 🥧 😋 some nice places in SW Scotland 😊🎉

I love absolutely ALL of your videos and I think that it’s great that you’ve been raising awareness of Type 2 diabetes. I can never understand why a small minority of people watch things that they clearly don’t enjoy - and then complain!
Agreed. We watch loads of channels and skip episodes that we don’t want to watch. 👍
Ignore them , you keep putting out exactly what you want! It upsets me to think they may have upset you .
Super informative videos on both subjects exceptional content thank you both keep it up x
It takes a great deal to upset me as 30 years in the police makes it like water of a ducks back. 👍
I have to agree - great info on both subjects, well researched - thank you 💙🦋
I had a lovely brunch in Morrisons today. Two poached eggs. One wholemeal toast. Crispy bacon. & a fresh side salad.
They might be Scapegoats, much misunterstood!
Yummy
Ken: I do like to moan.

I have a booster and found it slowly went flat. I think there are some you can have a little solar panel on the dash to keep them charged.

Loved the video guys, the kites were spectacular. I had 7 flying over my house recently. Beautiful creatures 👍
Red kites are stunning birds, also one of the most successful reintroduction of a species ever in the UK.
Yes we see them almost everywhere now.
Keep doing what you are doing. Great videos and very positive attitude to a common health challenge. Good luck
Again, loved the scenery and of course, the kites!! So many of them. That bit of history about the shepherd was interesting as well.
What a beautiful view to wake up to. Those sausages look good. I love sausages split in two and drizzled with Worcestershire Sauce. Yum.
The birds were gorgeous, you captured them really well, great photography. Thank you for sharing x
You are loving life ❤ and I love following you on your travels ❤

Glad you like them!
Felt really sad to hear about your sister. Life IS too short xxx sending love and hugs to you both 😊
Well before she died she told us to make the most of every day and her advice has paid off 👍
Lovely video... so many great sites.. the history, the stone house with the fire place lets the imagination run to what it was like.
You conducted the first scientific test on are our videos calming 😁👍
Your content is healing.. Blood pressure cuffs are a great way to see how the body responds to food.. and evidently videos.
The red kites were amazing

I haven't mentioned diabetes . All I will say is you look like its under control so well done that. I really enjoyed this episode. Bless your sister Ken. You're doing her proud. 😊
A shamr they havent restored the stone house. What a beautiful location.
Hi Xavier. We will keep an eye out for that and if we get the chance we will film it 👍
