Another honest and thorough review. But I finally upgraded from my 13 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max. I don't regret my decision since I was mostly after the upgraded cameras.

Dumb decission
Short version: it's an incremental upgrade, and just that. As someone who came from non-pro iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 Pro Max I obviously felt a huge upgrade. If you're coming from anything more recent than a 12 Pro you won't really feel it that much to justify the price.
Same, I just shifted from an iPhone 11 Pro Max to the 15 pro max and holy cow so much faster. My storage on my 11 was only 64 now I have the new default of over 260 gb which is insane to think about

You’re used to having 60fps. You’ll love the oled screen, battery life and camera while also saving money on features you don’t really need.

You will feel a “big” difference when you upgrade regardless of which phone you upgrade to. That’s not the point.

I upgraded to the 15 Pro Max from a 12 Pro Max and it was absolutely 10000% worth it for me.
Why? I have a 12 pro max too but not sure what the hype is all about
@@MrSnazzy682 One of them being battery life. I’m sure the battery on your 12pm has degraded over the years. Secondly the iOS system itself takes a massive hit on older iPhones. I’m using a 12pm myself and after watching many reviews I’ve decided it’s worth the upgrade for me. End of the day, it depends on whether do YOU think it’s worth the upgrade or not cause it depends on how you use it in your daily life. In my nature of business / workplace I’m required to used my phone a lot so it’s DEFINITELY worth the upgrade for me. Hope my opinion helps you understand and if not than I’m sorry.
@@marble8519 My 12PM was... ummm... misbehaving. Had the Apple store install a new battery. Now it is working perfectly again. The 15 PM would be a really minor upgrade for me. YMMV. Its the same design and user interface after all. Some people would have you believe that a button, 5x camera and USB C are game changing. In reality the iPhone 15PM is just a 12PM v4. More refined, yes. Game changing, no. After looking at the S24U, the 16PM could be really interesting this year.
@@MrSnazzy682 Yeah, Apple hype train for iSheep. Apple have released the same basic design for 4 years now. It should be called the 12 Pro Max version 4. The biggest joke this year was the "action button" what a useless feature.

I also upgraded from the 13 Pro Max (gr8 phone) to the 15 Pro Max in natural titanium (with a RhinoShield case). One new upgrade you forgot to mention is a rarely used safety feature. It has the Satellite SOS & Roadside Assistance connectivity when out of cellular range. It even ties in with the crash detection capability. It's a great new phone, a bit steep on price. But the 13 Pro Max is still a beast.

I want to be the one to say the satellite sos isn’t that effective, like literally, me and a friend ended up breaking down in the middle of nowhere and although we both had that feature set up it literally wouldn’t let us call emergency services to get us a tow truck out, (literally you can only call emergency services with it that’s it but we literally couldn’t the call kept failing) my friend had to walk 2 miles to the closest gas station to actually get help while I stayed with the car, it’s a good feature when it actually chooses to work so it does have some upsides over other iPhone models, the cameras in my opinion are a good upgrade, and the battery on the pro max 15 I’m seeing lasts only 2 hrs longer than my old 14 pro max and 4 hours over my 13 pro max

I went from the 13mini to the 15 pro. I don’t really see anything too big that makes it a noticeable upgrade but I may need to use it a little more.
I upgraded from 13 to 15 and never regretted usbc is my favorite feature for my work and the picture quality is way better, everything on this phone is worth the price i think.

Thank you for some good things to think about as I contemplate upgrading from my iPhone 8 Plus.
I purchased the base iPhone 15 for the exact reasons you spoke about. I am very value-oriented. I don't want to pay for unnecessary features that I seldom, if ever, use. I just want a point-and-shoot camera. I have no need for USB 3.2. I have no need for 120Hz refresh. I have no need for the Action button. The base iPhone 15 satisfies 99% of my needs. And the money I saved went to a nice case, a nice screen protector, and a nice set of Bluetooth earbuds, with plenty of money left over. Haven't looked back at all.
A friend has the 15 Plus and her pics look better than mine, having last year's cameras. Also, her macro shots have greater detail than mine, being able to get much closer the the subject! She can also whip out her 15 Plus and snap pics faster.
You never used a good phone and it shows. Once you had the 120hz smoothness you wouldn't want to go back to the laggy 60hz experience
@@__u__9464 Most smartphone users would disagree with you. The extra degree of smoothness is not noticeable after the first few days of using a 60Hz refresh display. The human mind adapts readily. It's simply not a big deal.

I loved the part about how easy it is to you back tap. People sleep on that cool feature so much! I use my back tap for the flashlight it’s a lot faster when you need light 🔦

went from 13 pro to 15 pro max, went on a road trip the week after the battery life alone was MASSIVE and worth the upgrade!
Some of my favorite details about the 15 Pro Max is the smoother edges and that it's lighter. 12 , 13 and 14 were all sharp, heavy bricks.

I have a 13PM not that you've asked for anybody's opinion but If nothing is wrong with your 13PM I'd wait until September the iPhone 16 is supposed to bring major changes also battery life is supposed to be better, as you know apple will keep the same look for at least 3 years.

I just ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max because the iPhone I have now, the 10S Max is really starting to show some age. Bought my iPhone 10S Max shortly after it first came out. I figured if I want my phone to last a long time again better to get the highest end and most future proof model so I went with the 15 Pro max over the 15 plus. I know the battery life sure is going to be a big upgrade for me since my 10S Max is still using its original battery and I have been charging that phone 3 times a day on average now since I was too cheap to get another battery put in the phone. 😆
Thanks for the video. I am on iPhone 12 now. My battery maximum capacity is 88% but I am constantly stressing about running out of battery charge. I always have to carry a power bank and it is quite annoying. Do you think upgrading to the iPhone 15 Pro Max is worth it for me? Or another model? What is the model with the best battery? Or should I keep carrying my power bank? Thanks!
I've had the phone since October, upgraded from 11 pro max and for me it's worth it but it isn't the high-tech lvl I expected I agree with you man if you had an eleven like or lower than I'd say upgrade but if not it's the same old phone with a few new features and performance improvements

I didn't need to upgrade. My company pays for my phone and any telecom expenses so I upgraded from 14 pro to 15 pro max. Love the camera upgrade but I'm not used to holding such large phone. Large screen does help though especially when you are outside and quickly need to glance at something, no more squinting of the eyes
I am still using an iPhone 12 Pro Max, and it still works wonders. I am here to look for the differences but as of now I am not convinced to upgrade yet.

I went from 12 pro max to 15 pro max I hate upgrading phones but honestly a huge difference and improvement thus far. I personally think it’s best not upgrading phones until a few gen’s go by just based on how much technology improves. It gets a bit numb trying to upgrade to a new device just because of lack of improvements they do.
The bit where you went over the camera system with complete honesty… THANK YOU! Like, I thought I was losing my mind when every big tech reviewer on UA-cam were saying how the 15 Pro’s cameras could stack up against a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Thank you for basically saying, “lol, no it can’t”, because it’s true! Are smartphone cameras getting better and better each year? Yes. Is it honestly pretty crazy that our iPhones can now shoot in LOG? Yes. But, that doesn’t in any way suddenly make them better than even a decent big camera and lens.
Apple shot their last even on iPhone, cool. But they still needed professional equipment to help support the phone. LOG won’t suddenly make the tiny sensors be able to shoot big productions, and replace professional cameras. I have a 13 Pro Max, and while the cameras are good enough for social media sometimes, they can’t ever dream of replacing my main DSLR in more ways than just image quality. Thank you for being 100% honest man, it was refreshing lol.
thank you! and yea as good as these cameras are, most people won’t be replacing any real camera systems with them (at least not with loads of extra professional gear). It’s definitely a step in the right direction for Apple and exciting to see what they’ll bring in the future, but for now it’s just better quality Instagram stories for me
future iOS updates and battery life above the 14 pro maximum is more than enough argument for those who want a phone that won't give them problems for the next 4 years. Nice video dude

iPhone 15 Pro Max is great, but there's only one thing I hate: the selfie camera. The output is really different from the viewfinder. Once i click on that camera button and check my picture, it's sharp and grayish. At first I thought I was the only one but when I went to reddit a lot of people are complaining about this as well. Selfie on my 11 Pro Max is better. I don't know if you've encountered this issue but I'd like to know your thoughts about it. thanks.
I own a 15 Pro Max as well, base. My issue is Apple has taken the 15 Pro Max and tried to make it into, a very complicated wanna be professional camera system...the "point and click" iPhone days are now gone. Comparing my 13 PM pics to my 15 PM? My old 13 PM photos were much better! Macro sucks now on 15 PM, the 13 PM allowed much closer focus and a lot of owners say the same based on videos I've seen on YT. I've also noticed when you want to take a "fast pic", it's not going to happen. For some reason it seems to take a while to pull it out, tap to focus and then a small delay. Again, those days are gone of snapping a fast photo. Macro is crap, losing a TON of detail and you just can't get close enough compared to the 13 PM. My 15 PM camera also has a strange issue with, focusing while taking a pic or video. About a 3rd of the time, it just don't want to focus! Very very annoying. Also, the A17 Pro is absolute overkill. In every single YT video review, throttling is a thing due to overheating with graphically intense games. PUBG oddly still works great for me even on high settings. Overall, I'm not happy, disappointed being an iPhone owner since the 3GS, having owned every single model....it just feels like the same old Springboard, half-baked iOS and, design, and now, super buggy, unfinished. If you've owned every iPhone like I have since the 3GS, you'll understand it's not the same Apple anymore...

Hey Aaron this is a great review of the iPhone. You clearly have a sharp eye for the finer details. May I ask for your input on something? I do a lot of traveling and like to vlog about interesting things I see. I currently own an iPhone Pro 12 and a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I mainly vlog with my S23 Ultra because the stock Samsung camera app is very vlogger friendly and the video quality are visually pleasing. I've tried vlogging with my current iPhone and the previous iPhone I had but I often find the photo and video quality somewhat depressing. Half the time when I use my iPhone I look too warm, a tad yellow/orange, and washed out. This has frustrated me enough to stop using my iPhone to vlog because I don't like the idea of capturing fleeting moments on my travels only to find the footages disappointing. I have been wanting to upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro Max and use it to vlog but the concerns of the yellow/orange/washed out qualities are holding me back. All that said, do you have any suggestions on how to remedy those issues on iPhone photos and videos? I know the iPhone takes great photos and videos but I don't vlog from a studio with consistent controlled lighting, and those qualities issues I listed do come up here and there. My friend has a iPhone 15 Pro Max and I've tried using her phone to take sample photos and videos and I do see that the warm/yellowing/washed out issue is still there although not as pronounced. I've been told I could do post processing to fix those but I like to vlog on a phone and use powerdirector or kinemaster app to edit then post. If you have done a video on this issue I'd love to watch it, and if not I hope you will consider doing a video to help some of us out who want to start vlogging with an iPhone but are still holding back. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
thanks! I haven't really noticed the yellow/orange/washed out tones, but you could always shoot in Apple Log with the 15 Pro for a lot more color-grading potential and no risk of ruining your shots. The only problem would be storage - you'd probably need to hook it up to an external SSD but you could get very cinematic-level footage from the 15 Pro that way.

The thing is after so long not using iphone, I finally tempted to buy the 15 series as the 2nd phone. But my deal breaker is the base model is still running in 60hz, like it would automatically feel slower than my Samsung. All the suggestion are just to take the pro series since USB C is kinda my requirement too. But damn that price is above the roof and I only get 256gb version when I wanted the next phone upgrade is to 512gb. Not to mention my love hate relationship with IOS is still here.
Hey I have the 14 pro max and the 15 plus and google pixel 8. The 60hz on the 15 plus feels smoother than the pixel 8.

My Galaxy s series is running with 120hz while my previous old phone that I'm still using is running with 60hz and I really feel the different. So that's why I'm thinking to get at least 15 pro, but now after watching reviews, they said the battery isn't long lasting enough.
@@Salty_Biscuitz88Maybe it is more noticeable on other brands. I’ve had a side-by-side comparison in the Apple Store. The difference is hard to detect between 60 and 120Hz. This is Apple 60Hz. 😊 It might appear smoother because of iOS optimisation , the speed of the processor, the sub-pixel antialiasing or maybe it’s just me😊

The build quality is super good with the new iPhone models, but they need to fix the issues within the software. The keyboard experience is absolutely horrendous, if you have predictions, sounds, or haptics enabled. It feels like you can’t type more than a slow pace otherwise it’ll mess up. Replying notifications from the Lock Screen, the keyboard becomes almost unresponsive. Those sorts of things are unacceptable for a device which costs 1000$ or more.

@@kwoknation try replying a notification from the lock screen. Every tap you make needs to be almost forceful. This is on a brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max that I'm experiencing this. Perhaps something you haven't noticed if you utilize slide to type often. That's the one workaround for it. If you do a Google search for iOS 17 keyboard lag. There's an entire thread of people that have been seeing issues since this update. Something they did with the new predictions algorithm messed the keyboard up.
Don't get me going on that subject. iOS is, half baked and has been for years now. Super buggy. iOS updates are a roller-coaster ride. I'm so glad to see someone else talk about how bad the "keyboard intuition" has become! For us long time iPhone owners, we know how great it use to be, now its crap! Its really bad. As bad as Siri.
Also the screen freezing or won’t automatically turn on when on a phone call and you take it from your ear to trying to look up something or turn on the speaker. Absolutely ridiculous. Wish I would’ve kept my 13 PM

I lost convenience when Siri stopped working, then I was going to get it fixed, but then I was like changed my mind traded an iPhone 11 for a iPhone 15, when I got my iPhone 15 pro max, I put it in a case immediately so I didn’t notice no sharp edges or had time to notice it, and this iPhone matched my uniform, I’m happy with it, plus I’m not a tech expert so I wouldn’t have noticed the small stuff you do.
I jumped from an 11ProMax to the 15PM. To me it was a big and worthwhile change. 5G, faster refresh, 5X optical zoom, much brighter display (specially on a sunny day), action button, satellite emergency connection, and easier to hold! 🥳 🎉

I use my iPhone 15 Pro Max 1 TB $1600 dollars, after upgrading from my iPhone 13 Pro Max 256 GB for US $1000 trade-in, to shoot spatial videos so that I can watch them on my 55" Samsung 3D LED TV with 3D glass. Watching 3D video is realistic, immersive, and beautiful.
@@kwoknation. In 2010 I bought a 55" Samsung 3D 1080p LED TV with 3D glass. I watched Avatar 1 3D blu-ray on my 55" Samsung 3D LED TV with 3D glass looking awesome. In 2023 I bought a 55" LG C2 4K HDR OLED TV and Avatar 2 HDR 4K blu-ray looking terrific.

Well if you have the 13 pro max or 14 pro max it would be no sense really to have it upgrade on 15 pro max. But if you are from an 5-6 years old any phone it’s a huge huge upgrade.

Good question i need good storage for photos, lightweight, great picture quality. I use IG like crazy for content so my current iphone12 is not cutting it.🙈

ProResHQ at 60fps is on my 14 pro max, and I think the 13 pro max as well. All three, the 13,14,15, requires at drive capable of 280mbs writing to shoot like the s9. But, anamorphic lenses are inexpensive on the formats available and perform exceptionally well for most venues. So, the ecosystem for the smaller sensor (13 & 14) is bigger. Moment lenses have a new t-series which covers the larger sensors on several different cameras including the 15. Why? A good rig for anamorphic lenses is thousands of bucks for a full frame. The Zeiss anamorphic lenses start at 6.5K I think. So cool to do super wide stories on my phone rig, which is gimbaled with the same gimbal as my mirrorless camera. The results rival my asp-c Sony rig.
Should I get 13 pro max or 15 pro max for beauty photos/videos/ macro ? Like filming applications of eyelashes, tattooing and similar content. I have samsung s22 ultra and it s not good at translating the real color of the skin etc

Upgraded from Sony Xperia 1 Mark 3. The battery life is just too damn good and only back to ios since ip5s due to its usb-C, Apple Log, Camera (48mp RAW for crop) and action button to mimick shutter button just like xperia1. with 1TB and BM app for apple log, its a great upgrade.
The slimmer width compare to my wife 13PM is also a plus point for me.
This is I can relate to, I used to upgrade every new contract (2 years) however now since the 12 pro max I got, all newer phone feel underwhelming.
I must stress the newer phone are upgrade nevertheless but to me they all feel minor
Am waiting for when they change the body such as from the 11 pro to the 12 pro, that to me was a massive difference worthy of a upgrade

The dynamic island is more annoying than the notch I swear. There is this tiny space on top of it when you're browsing the phone, when watching videos with light background. It gets so annoying overtime. Dynamic island's notification animation looks goodbut when there is no notif, it will annoy anyone overtime. I prefer the notch more even though it is bigger.

My son has the Iphone 15 Pro Max. He upgraded from the Iphone 11 pro max. And I gotta say it is a very nice premium phone. And the weight makes a huge difference. Would I change from my S23 Ultra to an Iphone 15 Pro Max? No. But that's just me.

Yep! What you have enumerated and elaborated in your video is all thru about the iPhone 15 that's why I am not interested in getting the latest and greatest and stick with my iPhone 12 Pro I am more interested with the S24Ultra compared to the 15
Ive been having the 12 pro max for over 3 years now, and I have been thinking of going for the 12 pro max to the upcoming iphone 16 Pro. I've been noticing I tend to use only one hand to try to reach the screen and just use mostly for going through social media and watching videos and take pictures once in a while but not really take 4K video so Ill probably go with the 16 Pro when it comes out.
My friend got the 15 Pro Max, while I got the 15 Pro. After comparing the 2, I’m MORE than glad I saved $200 dollars with my choice!!!
