Just got the Stainless Steel Blue and I'm impressed thus far. Setting is a bit funky to get to the part to be reset (the 2nd time zone for me) and then pushing the left inset button. Took a few tries to get the hang of it. Other than that, it fits right in with my 1977 Texas Instruments 401 red LED which is a battery eater if you press the button frequently, like most from that era. I'm very glad you had them apart to show the movements inside them. Disassembly of a new one like isn't something I'd be inclined to do . . . at least until it needed a new battery.
Nice video. Is the display screen on the outside made of plastic or glass ? For me, the 70's digits are way nicer looking (looks sharp and crisp) - the new one's digits are chunky and reminds me of a budget digital alarm desk clock.
are the two buttons at the same position between the 1976 case and the re-edition case ? I'n other words, can the old module be installed into the new case and vice versa
Old was better for me ,but wen i turn 50 my vision star to fail thats wen i prefer now the new blue retro little big numbers ,i all ready got mine w, blue display, i like it!!!!!! Nice video.....
Display on the 1976 is better, I have an original "red led" 70s watch, and there is no comparison with the new "fake red led" from today. OK to remake vintage watches but please keep the nice features, not only the look. If I want clone of 70s watches, there are plenty of Chinese copies for a few bucks available on the web.
LED remakes have been available for 20 years now but only recently their prices have reached rock bottom. Similar designs were already sold under the Adidas label some 10 years ago. Bulova simply added a quirk to their portfolio without much R&D by simply reusing and tweaking modules from Chinese manufacturers. You pay extra for the brand and very good quality. These are not fake LEDs though as they use modern SMD diodes. Not as cool as the old wirebonded ones but still LED.
Nice watch, saw it on a UK online shop. I really want this as a nice dress watch (or I think it is) but lockdown is on just now so I think I'll hold back for now :(
As much as i like this watch, thanks to your videos, these are made in china... therefore, a hard no buy for me. Love the style, not supporting the place making these.
Fair point but 90% of the things you buy at Walmart or Target are Made in China including 50% of any car parts. Hard not to own anything non-Chinese nowadays.
SUPER cool retro concept but for the price at 200 dollars it's a but much. You can almost buy some good smart watches and/or fitbits with that money with MORE functions and applications. This seems like a collector's item versus a quality, daily watch
The person who is wears this watch doesn't care about "smart watches" and "fitbits" and has no interest or need for more "functions" and "applications". That's the point.
Very well done, Piotr! Thanks for taking the time and gathering the watches to compare new re-edition to the old school classic.
I tried wearing this at the jewelry shop in the mall and it left me a feeling of temptation to buy it.
This and the the new pulsar/Hamilton are awesome!
Very nice that you have the original one to display. Plus the internal components. Great work for reviewing to us.

Something about the style, size, and heft of these demands respect. On the right wrist they look fantastic.
Ah shucks! I wear my watches on my left wrist.
Old is better display for me
Like that you took them apart. The old readout looks a lot better

Definitely glass crystal

The case is 31mm by 40mm, it should look tiny but it doesn't seem to?? Does it look very small on?
I've got two 1976 Drivers. The digits we're better than the bulky one's that were from a later area and used in LCD watches.
Are you selling the 1976 silver one? I’d love to buy 🙏🏽

How did you get the black one to display a blue LED?
Custom arrangement :)
Amazing video! Thank you
The only thing i dont like about the watch is the watch band, for some reason after a few hours the rubber band is uncomfortable on my wrist
It looks like something Darth Vadar would wear.
I like the older model better
Excellent comparison!
The gold and red display is the coolest. Nice watch.
Hi
The movement is made in?
China of course
Shitty cheap LED ruins this new edition for me.

It’s disappointing that all the new led
Reissues use this crappy led display. Pin led in the vintage is far nicer
Appreciate the video
Yes 2032 battery 🤓

As he types this on a device that is made in China.....
