Coach Rob, do you remember the Diamond league in London where Tebogo was closing in on Lyles in the 200m? You have talked about that 200m Junior final and didn’t talk about how Gout Gout was running down Walaza… this kid’s top end speed is something you can’t ignore

Let us follow what Gout Gout said himself, he stated, "I am just trying to be Gout Gout" his words, he is not the one comparing himself to Usain Bolt. Let Gout Gout do his thing as Gout Gout and we watch to see the results.

You are correct that there's too much hype at present about GG...BUT coach Rob, you keep repeating (also in another of your videos) that GG "wasn't in front of Walaza and that what matters to me" in the World U20 200 m final in Peru. HE'S ~23 MONTHS YOUNGER THAN WALAZA! And his final closing 100 split was that of an elite open age runner...he gave Walaza 4 meters on the turn and lost by 1/2 meter (0.08 of a sec). Then you put down that he runs his (approximate world age group record) times in "the schools"...which to me is more impressive, as he doesn't have anyone competing against him that can actually push him to run faster times. It's his times that matter, not his opposition in this regard.

Even though he blew everyone else away in that U20 200m Final (by 0.21 - 0.91s), you're getting way too hung up on him coming 2nd to 18yr old Bayanda Walaza (by just 0.08s) who did the 100/200m Double @WU20s about 2wks after running the lead-off leg on SA's OLY 4x1 Silver winning Team in Paris. A big difference is that the guys you're comparing him to (Miller, Boonson, Card) aren't only much shorter than him but much better starters than him at the same age! There's clearly much more improvement to come in his first 40m as he's currently getting left in the blocks & clearly has another 3-4yrs of growing to do so his stride length is likely going to get bigger & will be deadly when combined with his fast turnover & improved starts. Joe Fahnbulleh wasn't running close to these times as a U16, U18 & U20 Athlete - 16yr old Guot Guot has already run faster than Joe's 8th fastest 200m time of 20.05 (+1.7). These are all additional factors as to why ppl are excited about his potential development which may or may not happen, but is exciting to think about once they all start getting addressed over the next few yrs.
He's going to train with Coach Brauman & Lyles for 2wks as part of his Adidas contract, and his coach, manager & training partner Jon Kasiano are all going with him. Has been confirmed that he''ll continue to run the 100m but won't be his primary focus @AUS Nationals in '25 where the plan is to run the U20 100m & Senior 200m events. His next planned competition is the Queensland State Champs (March 13-16), then 200m @WA Continental Gold Tour Melbourne Meet (March 29) before AUS Nationals (April 10-14). He'll be managed carefully throughout the '25 season leading up to the Tokyo WC.

We have never seen this level of inter-generational talent in Australia that will enter the conversation since Patrick Johnson that could actually win on the world stage. Australia has produced a lot of fast white sprinters, however we haven't seen an Australian that can run under 10seconds since Patrick Johnson. Even if he breaks 9.93 Gout will be the truth... It's an evolution of Australian sprinting.
This is already something very special, it's the international hype that's getting it wrong.

To me it's just crazy how quickly we've moved on from Letsile Tebogo to this kid, eventhough Tebogo's career has only just started and is much more likely to be the ACTUAL next Usain Bolt.

if a 16 year old coming 2nd at the u20 world champs during his off season isnt good enough i dont know what is. 3 months later he runs a time which would have put him 0.5 seconds ahead of the winning time and breaking a 20 year bolt record and 56 year national record, if this isnt enough to get you talking about him as potential for being as fast or faster than bolt then nothing ever will.

Gout Gout will be the one to break Usain Bolt records in the 100m and 200m. What I have never seen is an athlete with that much elastic strength. His bounce and foot strike on the back end of a race is unreal. Once he hit the weight room and start working with that adidas camp on his starts its over.

"Such and such is only 6 months older, and they ran XYZ time"... right... so... why didn't they run the world record 16yo time, then?
If Gout Gout is this good now, let's give him 6 months, or 12 months, and see what he's running.

His form is already very good...Compare to Bolt at that age. His only weakness is his start and there is no guarantee that he will improve that much there. Starters are 50% inherent.

Usain Bolt is the existing yardstick. He reigned over the sprints for a decade.

Coach Rob is funny & right. Referring to what he said about Michael Jordan, people respond to faces & personalities. I’m def a Jordan fan for real, not a Bulls fan. I haven’t watched bb since he left. Lol

These videos are weird to me as an Australian, you keep saying the same things over and over about Gout. The people comparing him to Usain Bolt are international commentators and the mainstream media who need a reference non-track people know. I haven't seen Australian fans or commentators compare him to Bolt. Why has Gout gone viral when other young athletes have not? No-one can answer that. It's also irrelevant to me and most people following him that many successful juniors don't make it to the senior level as you keep pointing out, no-one can see the future so we don't know what will happen. But Gout has people excited for the sport and watching track right now who don't normally pay attention to it. I don't see the down side to this. One thing that international commentators ignore or dismiss is that at 16 Gout beat our longest held senior national record. It might not be a fast time on the international stage today but it was held by one of our most esteemed athletes, the late great Peter Norman. It was set at the Mexico Olympics in 1968 where Tommie Smith won Gold, Norman took Silver, and John Carlos the Bronze, and Norman supported the Americans in their famous stand against racial inequality. How is it Australians still remember and applaud this moment when Americans do not? It's part of your sport history too!

I don’t know how much of or which international news media you habitually watch or read, but the historical connection to the 1968 Mexico Olympics and Tommie Smith has already being noted and commented upon a while back.

Gout Gout is impressive ...For me the shocking part is the fact that South Sudan does not produce explosive sprinter based on there body type...But stop saying Australian as if we can't see that he migrated to that part of the world...Coach Rob is always right! Gout Gout is a real talent but time will tell.

You say finishing fast in Australia is an inferior achievement, but you ignore the fact that this guy doesn't have the coaching, competition and "contaminated meat" that the more recognised sprint nations have. Once he gets to the USA training environment, he will improve.
