    The simplest showing of how to build the rig is what we want. Excellent. Lots of other vids are hero shots and they don't actually, SHOW us how to rig it. Thanks.

    Nice video kid. But you have your lures backwards. Put the squid on the dodger and the spoon on the Jack-o-Loids. The dodger puts action to the squid. The spoon puts action onto your flashers. Also, add anpther rod base or two onto the boat. Youre missing fish because you don't see the rod go off until its too late. I hope that helps you

      I 100% agree on the rod holders . I built the boat for bass hah and yes what your saying does make sense to maximize the action I'll remember that thanks for the tip!

    Promontory has been one of my favorite lakes for 50- plus years. I've always done very well, but the last September was the B E S T of all time for myself and my buddy John H. It was the middle of the month, and was recently stocked. However the fish we caught were had been in the lake a long time. They were 12" to 14" we also caught some that were much smaller, but not many. Here is how it went, we both have (2) pole endorsements. We NEVER managed to get all 4 poles in. From " Small-Fry " to the END (If you know where I mean ) We landed close to ( 1 0 0 ) Yep ONE HUNDRED, in a four hour period. We had to turn off the motor and reel our poles in just to eat. It was C R A Z Y ! ! ! I finished with my biggest fish ever at NFR it was over (6) pounds and fought like a Steelhead. I followed that up with the next day bringing my girlfriends sister out, and let her reel in over 40 keepers and I hooked up another 25 and passed to her that she LOST... LOL... I've never done this good in all of the years. We were using a Arrow Flash and PURPLE / PINK hoochie with a TINY piece of worm, 12" leader and 1/4 OZ lead. We had so many TRIPLES that it was a shock if we didn't get a strike in 30 seconds or less. Many times we did let out TEN feet of line. Like I said it was C R A Z Y.... GREAT Video. I felt bad about killing that many fish... K I D D I N G ! ! ! All were R E L E A S E D, we done like to eat them... TON'S of FUN...

    Great advice on trolling, years ago we were trolling and not catching anything, using attractors and inline spinners, Celtas, my brother in law had some worms, he put a worm on the treble hook on his spinner, soon after caught a nice rainbow trout, we laughed at him. He then caught another, we all put worms on our spinners, 14 nice trout later we stopped for lunch.

I plan to start the day trolling for kokanee, and then finish the day crappie jigging. I'll be do video also. I have 2 GoFish Cams. I'm going to have to get my bait down some where between 35 - 50 feet is what I am hearing. I have plainer boards and 3, 4, and 5 oz torpedo weights. Gonna try both ways. Fingers crossed. Fishing The Odds Diamond lake is about 20 minutes from Crater lake. big lake with a big view. the food supply for rainbow trout is rich and the stockers gain about 1.5 inches per month. I hooked into a 21 inch, 5 pounder on the fourth of July this year there using a ford fender and a bead head olive woolly bugger. they have a fishing derby somewhere around June with a $1,000 purse for the winner.

    I'm curious where you're at. I live in Western Washington, the WDFG plants most of the fish caught on this side, they don't get very big. But i have caught upwards of 18 inches, 2+lbs which is the largest rainbow I've EVER seen in this area. I live for salmon season, which is just beginning.
    I've never used the "Dodger" like what you've got going on one line. I will use the trout or kokane trolling spoons with either a trout spoon or a wedding ring. (I SWEAR by the wedding ring and a certain type & color of trout spoon, but i just lost it last weekend with $15 in trolling spoons and other gear 😠)
    One other thing, do you use bait on your lures? I'll typically use a bright colored rubber power egg, like florescent orange or yellow, or standard red. Sometimes I'll even throw on a bright colored/natural colored rubber worm. Depends on the fish that day. My leader lengths are about the same as yours, 12 to 24 inches, again it depends on the fish that day.
    I'll give you a heads up tho, (trading info for info right?)
    I recently discovered these new eights. They're long like bullet weighs, but they've gotta split down the side with a piece of rubber in the middle. These are the best thing since sliced bread! You can add/remove with ease, simple twist of the rubber secures your line inside the weight and there's no weights clanking around, scaring the fish off. Big 5 has them for about $2 a pack here.
    Thanks for the video. I hope you're able to make enough off of these to get paid to fish. Every man's dream right?

      I use cured corn for Kokanee . Primarily wedding rings for trout . Make sure I clean my dodgers with lemon joy before use kinda like salmon. This lake is in estacada Oregon and I do not use bait on my hooks for trout but I always catch my limit:) I feel it’s mostly reaction when trolling .

      What depth do you usually fish at? You think those jet divers are any good?

    • @FishingTheOdds
      @FishingTheOdds  5 років тому +1

      @@angelocartoscelli1573 honestly ill start with 1/2 oz lead on my sinker slide. ill then let out like 15 to 20 pulls. if im not catching fish ill go to a 1 oz. if you dont catch trout at these depths its because its way hot and you need to go deeper. but it never ends up like that for me. if there is fish there you should be catching them with 1/2 oz to 1 oz at 15 to 20 pulls
