I remember when I was a kid, I'd hang on every word an adult said thinking they knew everything about everything. Now 35 years later and BLOODY HELL I was smarter back then age 7 as half the adults on this planet are. It's really quite disillusioning

This is way more common than people might think. You see it more when abusers bring the victim to the courthouse to drop the ex parte or restraining order. Before that gets signed off on, it’s a violation. Most of the time staff can’t really do anything without making the situation worse. I was glad to see a situation where he actually got called out and got consequences for doing that.

Okay the lack of testing shows lack of effort to stay out of jail.
Self medicating isn’t ever the answer, especially when out on bond.
But sitting down to chat with the alleged victim in front of court officials … is just criminally stupid.
I find myself wishing Judge Simpson could inact something clever as extra punishment … like reverse revoking his phone privileges, so that he has to talk to phone scammers for eight hours every day.

They are probably one of those couples who cannot live with nor without each other. They will continue flip flop on love, fight, love, fight until someone ends up really hurt.

Just as I was typing out a comment commending him for, at the very least, taking accountability and being up front about the drug test….

When somebody says, "Just for weed" in my experience, there's a higher than even probability, it's not just for weed.
On the up side, that avoided another court appearance etc. at a later date.
And it also saved the taxpayers the cost of a drug test, so there's that at least.
That was a completely dumb move on the defendants part. It's one thing to try and argue oh it wasn't my fault outside of court but when you have a court full of police, magistrate and lawyers you are asking to go right to jail.

The only times I ever use them words is when I have to beat some hard truths into friends when I find out they are fucking up. Last time was when a good friend of mine was being extremely toxic to his GF. He needed to hear some shit before I got violent with him myself.

So many people would insist "Nothing!" and then when tested positive, say "Oh I don't know how that got there! Oops! I don't understand!".
So at least he kinda threw himself at the mercy of the court on that, and with a relatively believable story.
It is very odd that he knew what would likely be the best course of action for that, but then violated his other thing as ridiculously as you could

He didn't bring his victim to Court which was why this was so confusing in real-time. She came to Court and sat next to him. Should he have said you need to go or told a sheriff? Absolutely. He was honest about the drug use and then was honest about communicating something to her after the hearing. Her coming in and sitting next to him and speaking to him felt "off" and "sabotage" like. Victims are also supposed to be held to the no contact order.
Prove they didn't show up together prove he didn't threaten her.

How did the prosecutor know to go out into the hall?
All those years of smoking crack must have caught up with his brain. If you end up working things out with the person who has a ppo on you, why in the world would you bring them ANYWHERE people who have prior knowledge of the PPO. The prosecutor said that there was a law enforcement officer that confirmed that the two of them were sitting together, wouldn’t he be able to take him into custody at that time, before he even had a chance to see the judge?

Did he sit next to her or did she sit next to him? I've never had that issue so I assume if she came and sat next to him he should have gotten up and sat somewhere else but why is she contacting him and being with him as well? In those cases I don't know that I could fault the guy for her being crazy LOL
