      @siiiiiuu7 3 місяці тому +1

      Yup. Reality is that many people who've been harmed in their childhood/teen years end up taking those things to the grave. The ones who come forward are the minority. I can just look at people in my vicinity who I know have been victims in their youth but have never reported it or even told their family. And all those predators just keep on living amongst us

    • @eddieromanov
      @eddieromanov Місяць тому +1

      Without saying where exactly, I have worked at a place for a long time that had a high profile employee abusing kids for a long time. Decades. Many victims.
      Even with multiple complaints from a concerned parent in one case and a witness in another (but no victims coming forward, I should point out), it took us and law enforcement 13 years to catch the guy.
      It tore our entire community apart at the seams and it still keeps me up at night more than 10 years later. Not because I was in any position to do something about him but because of an incident where I saw something mildly suspicious and didn’t follow up on it with someone who later got caught for CP. I dismissed it then because I was early in my career, doubted if my suspicions were valid, and would have had to violate an “immediate termination with cause” company policy to investigate further.
      The day this absolute monster got caught, I walked right into my boss’s office, looked him dead in the eye, and told him, “Just so we’re clear, I don’t care what the fucking policy says. I see something and I’m taking action on it. You can fire me.” He just nodded and said, “You’ll be right behind me in the unemployment line because they’ll have to fire me first.”

      It looks like he went out a second time and that’s concerning because the way he went down he might have easily hit the back of his head or neck on the bench. From his behavior before the fall, I think might have been on something or coming off of something.
      I’m not a medical professional. I’m just someone who’s seen it happen from time to time. First thing I told my kids when they joined marching band was to not lock their knees and how to flex your legs a little without visibly looking like you are.

    Somewhere around the four and a half minute mark, his eyes open wider. As someone who used to faint a lot, I could probably tell you what is going on from there. He's getting tunnel vision, for me, it's like instinct to open my eyes wide to try and see better, it's not on purpose and before that point, his eyes are not so wide open. He holds the table and locks his knees, which isn't good, but again, it's not a really conscious thing, your knees want to lock. He probably can't see much of anything, the blacking out and fuzzy buzzing in his head are confusing, especially if he's never fainted before. He looks down at his hands, but I doubt he's seeing them. Then he's waking up on the ground, wondering WTF just happened. They should have laid him down flat, but got him up and sat him on the bench, so he passed out again. It looks like a seizure, but you recover really fast, which doesn't happen with a true seizure. As long as you wait until the buzzing in your head and blackness goes away, you can go on as if nothing happened. But if you try to get up, you fall back down. It doesn't hurt, which is weird, it's numbing. I've hit the back of my head twice in a row, falling downhill (because someone got me up quickly) and I never felt any pain until the next day, then it was my neck that was sore.
    It's a really fast moment, from conscious to unconscious and back to consciousness. And it's really confusing for everyone involved. I felt so bad for the public defender, I've seen people looking at me like that when I've come to. It's gotta be scary for them.

    I see a lot of people saying he faked it. As stiff as he was when he went backwards, not trying to brace his fall, that was a legit faint. He also showed some signs that he was going into a seizure after they had him sitting down. All of this was likely from hearing his charges and having a vasovagal response. I still think he deserves to be under the jail, but the judge was just nasty and ignoring the situation.

      When I've had vasovagal episodes a couple of times, I've basically gone all floppy, and dropped right down. When I have a few seconds of warning, I can crouch down and retain a degree of fuzzy thought. This guy's straight-body fall didn't look like that, but I wouldn't rule it out. I don't know that I'd go so far as to say that the judge was ignoring the situation. At first, I think he honestly didn't even notice. After that, he thought that the guy was just faking, or that the situation wasn't serious. When the people with the prisoner confirmed that there was a real medical issue, the judge didn't press the matter.
