    No, mob rule shouldn’t be allowed and can in fact be very detrimental. But you can argue that this guy wouldn’t have done what he did had the justice system stepped up in the first place.

      AMEN! When it comes to child abusers/molesters/killers they lose their rights IMO to some degree to live! I have nooo sympathy for him or his daughter tbh. I WOULD have been sympathetic to HER if she hadn't jumped on him for "preventing her from making amends" with daddy. I mean... WTF does THAT even mean anyway?? She wanted to what... let him be in her children's lives??? I love how she said "ok so he didn't molest ME"! Maybe not you POS but did it ever occur to you that he would have likely molested your KIDS and maybe... just maybe... this man that killed him SAVED YOUR CHILDREN from that???

    Think on this: If he had been home, taking care of his family, instead of in prison doing time, maybe none of this would have happened. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

    • @zubetp
      @zubetp 2 місяці тому +2

      yeah. but this simile doesn't apply here, because of the temporal nature of the hole, and because the hole doesn't affect only him. he didn't dig himself into a hole, he dug a trench between him and his daughter. and on the other side of that trench, with his daughter, were two (2) rapists.
      here are his options. he could 1. punish the men who paid the child's mother in gifts and drugs for the privilege of raping the child her entire youth and prevent it from happening again, or 2. do nothing.
      one would be lawful. right? maybe he could, say, find a job at a mechanic shop or something? take a pottery class with his daughter while she begins her lifetime of intensive therapy?
      he figured he's already a convict. he's already a criminal. he already wasn't there to raise and protect his daughter. she already may never want to be in his life because she doesn't even know him.
      but he can do _one_ thing for her. he can do one thing. something nobody else in her life can or will do.
      murder is bad. he's in prison about it. the only problem i have with his crime, morally speaking, is that he didn't finish the job. he was gonna kill the men _and_ her mother. he got caught before he could do it.

    The most chilling thing was when the daughter of the victim talked about her father that molested kids and said "He did his time. And he didn't go and testify against a bunch of other people to get out of his time." Just wow. She seems proud that her father would have let other abusers roam free. I've seen sometimes where these people take pictures and they are able to find groups where they swap pictures of their victims. If her dad had information and didn't testify, then he's partly responsible for all the victims of those other abusers as well.

      I can appreciate the thinking behind this argument - but what it doesn’t take into account, is that remorse (or lack thereof) is an equally important factor in the sentencing guidelines.
      The defendants behavior in this video, really does affirms the judge’s decision on two levels: the defendant’s lack of remorse, and that the defendant is incapable of existing in a civilized society. His deliberate attempt to further scar the victim’s already-troubled daughter is unforgivable.
      His cooperation is for mercy in the next life, not in this one. Not that I’m a believer but lifers need to believe in prison God because they have nothing else.

She needed to say her father didn't abuse her because it's what everyone assumes and will continue to assume all her life. The daughter may not have wanted anything to do with her father in terms of a meaningful relationship, but she needed to know she could confront him one day. The defendant wanted closure for himself, he never considered the needs of the man's victims, including his own child.

    So why doesn’t the legal system who never did anything about this molester have to pay any price? Kills me how the justice system never takes any responsibility in cases like these. This guy might not be heading to jail for 40-75 years if the molester would have been taken care of in the first place. I find it sick out there’s loopholes how some can be punished and others can’t!! “The Justice system isn’t perfect” is an understatement! I feel for his daughter, I really do but if that was my Dad In addition to other things she was saying - such as she never seen him much (he sounded like a real winner); I would never have stood up for him - stand up for the innocent victim!! What is wrong with people when they have a voice for a pedaphile but no voice for innocent victims of sexual assault- very young ones at that!!! I don’t condone murder but in this case I don’t totally disagree with it either. He just did what most people would think about and most likely want to do and it’s only the laws that would keep us from doing it - ya know the same people who didn’t protect her the first place? Lenawee County has a serious drug problem right now and the deceased took advantage of that when he sought to victimize this defendant’s kids while he was locked up and absent due to his own issues. The mother basically explained that at her own sentencing. This is all incredibly fucking sad, but I will say that even from this distance, you can tell that Carden looks better today than he did in his mugshot for this offense. Dad’s pursuit of his addiction took him away from the kids and mom’s pursuit of her addiction put them in harm’s way. 8:28 you’re not here to condemn him. Good. Because that’s not the job of victim impact statement. A VIS is to the judge not to the defendant. There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about this. It’s not your chance to speak to the defendant, it’s your chance to express to the judge why you feel a certain sentences appropriate. And I get it. Totally understand that people see this as their opportunity to speak to the person that did them wrong. But that is not the point of a victim impact statement.

      I was surprised that the judge didn't redirect her.

    Why is this judge just sitting there snd letting this chaos continue??? Any other judge would've cleared the courtroom and or held those causing the raucous in contempt!! This judge seems wishy washy..

    Maybe if courts and police have a F about protecting children others would not need to do so.
