    Got my A6400 open box with a shutter count of 2 for $650 plus taxes and shipping. Worth every penny. If you’re a beginner with a decent budget, the A6400 is the way to go. Got a 2 kit lens, a vintage lens, a dispolens, and a cage for about another $250. All used but they still function like normal. You can find a deal for the A6400 but you definitely need to search into the crevices of the internet.

    One thing that is still unclear to me is whether I can record externally from the a6400 through its HDMI port, and if so, would I be able to get a valid 10-bit data file from that recording. The potential problem I see is if the data recorded would be exactly the same 8-bit that the camera might record internally, whether it is recorded as 10-bit or not.

    So, I have a 6400 and I am planning to start a pre-wedding film studio. The way you have outlined it's features, it is going to fall short. As I am going to need the stabilization, multiple sd cards and the longer shoot times (full frame doesn't hurt either). At the same time, I think from the photos it has taken, it is good enough for the photos that I am going to deliver. As well as all the recci and mock-shoot that I am going to do. So what I am thinking is to rent an a7 S 3 for a day to shoot the film and then use this camera for everything else.
    Which makes me think who is the 6700 for? If you want something as your daily camera 6400 and the z series is good enough. If you want to deliver on your client work, it is better to spring for a full frame sensor camera. And the 6700 is nearly as expensive as an A7 iv and you might even find an a7 iii second hand for cheaper with lenses for cheaper. The same can be said for an a 7 s2 if you specifically want video. What is an a 6700 even there for?

    Thanks for comparing these. Did you notice any improvement in low light (without any night/low noise mode) in a6700 as it comes with back illuminated sensor?
    Also with activie stabilization it crops a bit, so is it not using the full size of the sensor with that setting, would it affect the pixel size?
    If it is so then enabling that may impact noise levels, right?

    • @MikeBSalazar
      @MikeBSalazar  Рік тому

      I wouldn’t say there is a low noise mode or anything like that. It’s just the sensor. If I crank up the ISO, I tried to keep it at 2500 but I will even go up to 6400 if I need to.

      Because I shoot photos and no video, the a6700, while an outstanding camera, will not produce a significant increase in image quality over the a6400. This prediction is especially true because an 8x12-inch photo (at 500 ppi) will be the largest print I will ever make. So, I think for now, I will skip upgrading to the a6700 and buy instead prime lenses for my a6400.

      There are reasons...
      -Price (It's not $1400). Used it's more like $600 in 2024.
      -Size & weight. The A6400 is 400g
      -People who don't do video won't appreciate all the a6700s video enhancements
      -a6400 has built in flash
      -People who have a full frame camera but want a smaller capable APSC that can still take their lenses may prefer the a6400 over a6700.
      Me, I would go with the A6600 over the a6400. (Grip, battery, color science, full tilt up LCD screen, more custom buttons, IBIS, headphone input, video eye and face detect, no limit on 4K video, comparable price on used market). I'd even take a6600 over the a6700. But the a6400 is still a very capable camera.
