All cameras are worth it. I still use an a6000 with with well over 100,000 shots through it, as well as an a7iii, still use a yashica tlr film camera as well. An a6000 can be picked up used under $300. Original a7 can be had used under $500 if u rather have full frame. Absolutely zero reason for a new photographer to get a new top of the line camera. When u can get photos literally just as good with an older camera. Save ur extra money for good lenses. The. A few years later upgrade the camera body and continue to use ur good lenses.
I got an a6400 back in 2021 from my school as part of my tuition costs. I used it for like 2 classes and then it gathered dust on a shelf. I recently got back into photography and brought my a6400 out on a shoot to document a mini golf tournament with some friends and I have to say I really am falling in love with this little thing! Makes me want to only go for smaller camera bodies in the future.
I bought one last year, and I love it. I wanted something smaller, lighter, but that would also allow me to change lenses. Very nice camera, especially for the money!
I got this camera in January this year for photography, and I love it so much! It's a dream for anyone on a budget, since there're so many cheap lenses for it. And more coming out. And also if i ever want to upgrade to full frame sony - I can use the same lenses as well. It could be probably said about any sony aspc, but I got it after having sony nex-5t for almost 10 years, so the difference was mindblowing
Been debating between this and a6700. I have a6000 which is good but I find lacking in some ways. I do not have a budget for full frame. I have a go pro as well which I chose because of the ability to use it in water.
I’d go with the a6700 for sure. It’s not a huge difference in cost for some pretty significant upgrades, specifically on the video side. *Side note, I’m actually getting rid of this camera because I recently bought an fx30, specifically for the video features.
I got me an a6400 with 18-135 last year for 800usd for my journey through college and family photos/travels. I have kids and often take all of the family portraits. I just got the tamron 17-70 a year later and honestly it's an amazing camera. I edit through Lightroom and have taken photos with 8000iso and after Denoise in Lightroom they're absolutely flawless photos and that was with the 18-135. Can't wait to get more on the tamron lens. Absolutely 0 interest in going full frame either.
Just did three days of shooting the IMSA series of auto racing and my two camera set up was my A6400 with the Sony 70-300mm lens and my Sony A7R4 with a Canon 500mm F/4 and it is hard to tell the difference between the two
Fair enough, I guess it’s just a habit thing, I learned on a camera with a viewfinder in the center (Nikon D3500) and so it just feels awkward to me to use a side one. Habits die hard I guess 🤷♂️ If that was a pain point for me on full frame cameras or DSLR cameras I would agree, just haven’t really found that to be an issue. I am a little bit of a freak when it comes to cleaning my screen, so I guess it could save me some time doing that..
I just got another one as a backup camera because the last thing I want is to lose out on a client. Also id rather have two camera bodies than a single body with two slots
Just got myself one with Sony 50mm 1.8 FE and love it! But wait! Almost forgot! Can't wait until my new Tamron 17-70 arrives 😀 invest in lens not in cameras! 😅
Zv is more a vlogcamera, pictures are good but not good as A6400. A6400 is more for photography and excellent photos and the video is not good as zv. Zv is really good for video but terrible for pictures.
@@imprisonedone8054 it's not terrible for photos but the key thing to note is that it doesn't have a viewfinder which makes a terrible experience on bright days trying to focus the shot
The biggest difference is 6400 has the a9 processor, so eye autofocuse and detecting people from animals is way better than a6000. The color science is also closer to the coveted canon color science. I would say, since your a6000 is probably on the high end of shutter count, it might die soon. I would say for the price and sticking to the same batteries you have, a6400 is the no brainer. you might want to wait to see if Sony or some stores offer better deals. Currently it is $100 off.
shutter speed too high? If you shoot at 24fps, you should set your shutter speed to 1/50s, if you shoot at 30fps set shutter speed to 1/60s, if you shoot at 60fps, set your shutter speed to 1/125s.
i have a massive sigma 150-500 lens with an A mount, do you think the LA-EA4 adapter would work with the a6400 ? even if i dont get all the AF features ? would be cool !
I just ordered an a6400 because it was half the price of the a6700. Along with the viltrox pro 27mm f/1.2 to go along with it. I'll be taking photos of my two young boys, my wife, and our travels. Along with some video of my boys playing soccer. $1500 all in including a quality SD card for full frame performance because of the f1.2 lens
How is the stabilization? I have been thinking about buying camera for like two years and I haven’t yet due to funds but now I have it. I’m planning to get a6400 too but also because I want to record too on it; I need a good lens stabilization. Is viltrox pro 27mm great?
100% that is an awesome lens for this camera. Stabilization helps at longer focal lengths but you’ll be fine without it, especially at the 18-50 range if you just use a fast enough shutter speed.
Lol I just commented about similar. Drives me nuts when photographers push top of the line gear. When 15 years ago the best cameras that made people millions professionally are arguably worse than budget consumer aspc cameras today. People can make a living off using an a6000 today.
@@dip30ful definitely, especially older DSLR are just great cheap entries if you want image quality cameras don't age as phones and good glass will always be good glass

Yeah I shoot video almost entirely on a tripod with this camera. Most of the time when I’m shooting handheld with my other camera it’s for slo mo, so since this camera doesn’t do 4k60 or higher I never shoot handheld anyway
That’s awesome, that’s a pretty solid setup! Just get out and shoot is my advice. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you need to buy a bunch more gear. What you have now is more than enough. So forget about gear for a while and just shoot a lot of photos and get comfortable with your camera and lenses. Good luck !
Yeah that’s a good deal. The kit lens is good to get started with, but would definitely recommend picking up a cheap prime lens as well, like a 35mm or 50mm F1.8, you’ll notice a big difference
i got my a6400 yesterday, imma be using this camera until it dies and damn the shots taken with this camera is incredible

Thing is, most new photographers are hybrid shooters, and video specs aren't always the amazing on older cameras yk.

Sony for the lenses!
