I may come across a little ignorant as I have very little experience with any other camera or brand, but what I can say is that this camera has surpassed my expectations with all my projects thus far. Its a BEAST. Awesome review Curtis!
I have owned the a6400, a6600, and have had the a6700 for over a year now. Huge jump in optical performance! I have most of the Sigma glass made for Sony apsc. I just wish Sigma would make a telephoto to complete my lens collection! I know there are other options for telephoto but it seems like the best has yet to come. Great video man! Your photos and videos with this camera show just how great this camera is! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more of your travel content with the a6700! Cheers!
Sigma has patents for 50-140mm f/2.8 for APSC so hopefully those come sooner than later, with a similar lightweight and compact form factor and excellent IQ.
This is the first camera I’ve actually invested time and money in and I have no regerts about it. Has tons of features, gives amazing photos, and it’s perfect for traveling. So glad God gifted me the opportunity to use and operate it. Now… I need to find more things to shoot lol

Not just the best apsc camera, but also still the best value camera you can get. The e mount has to be the best mount there is, and you also get those amazing specs with the best possible autofocus. It's great to see this camera getting some more recognition. I've had mine for a year and I'm a huge fan. For the joystick, while using the EVF you can actually use the touchscreen as a joystick. It's not as good as a real one but I've gotten pretty comfortable with it. I feel like this camera gets overlooked due to some of the early controversy with overheating and because Sony has so many compelling full frame options, and it's a shame because I think it should be a top rec for anyone looking for APSC.
I just received my A6700 two weeks ago and I LOVE it as I was chosing between this and the FF AC7 II but there were issues with the latter, Electronic shutter only, 1.5 crop on 60FPS video and NO 120FPS AT ALL. So the sony a6700 is the perfect blend for my needs. I got mine with the Sony 18-135mm lens. I will be using mine to film the video for my band 'Kill the Faith'
It has a lot going for it and dare I say one of the best color outputs of any Sony camera. Dual-cards would be nice for wedding/event but I don't really think it's meant for that. I've been shooting Sony APSC since the NEX-5 days and it's amazing to see how far mirrorless has come. Back then, all I'd hear was how no photographer would ever take mirrorless seriously. I still hear people disparage APSC and M4/3 all the time, but go quiet when asked for their portolio. Hopefully we get a Sony ASPC body with dual card slots and the tilt+flippy screen mechanism from the A7RV.
I was the first customer to order and pick up the a6700 from a local shop as soon as they became available last year. I traded in my a6500 for it. It means, I've had a selection of lenses for it in my possession already. I've supplemented my set recently with the Sirui 75mm/F1.2. This lens on the a6700 gives full frame equivalent looking photos weighing so much less, on the hip pocket too. Before Sirui came out I was considering Viltrox 75mm/F1.2 but it seemed to me big and heavy. I'm glad I waited. Sirui is now permanently fixed on the camera. Owsom.
I love my 𝛼6700 for just about every reason you cited. What still blows me away is the AI focus system and the fine tuning available for it. I mostly use the camera on a gimbal for B-roll content, but the times I've used it to shoot stills, I've been thoroughly impressed. More importantly, my clients have been impressed. Yeah, this camera has set the APSC bar really high...
Sorry I know I’m commenting a lot, but I just wanted to say that aps-c is the best format! I love it! Gives much more reach with telephoto lenses and keeps lenses and camera smaller. And there is more than enough bokeh with the crazy fast lenses we have now days. I don’t miss full frame at all. (I’m watching on my iPad using Safari and for some reason I’m not able to edit my comments, so 3 comments it is. :P)
didn't quite click(no pun intended) with my Lumix S5, got an a6700 in Japan for about £750 used (Japanese "used" is not really used) and love it. Such a good camera, the sigma 18-50mm basically lives on it (also "used" in Japan for about £300). God bless the exchange rates this last year.
great timing for this video! after many days of going between the a6400 and a6700, I purchased the a6700 last night as my first camera :) thanks for all the great videos and information. I chose to get the sigma 18-50mm based off your recommendations but deciding on a prime lens. Not sure if to go for the sigma 56mm or sigma 35mm. any thoughts? I would mainly be using this camera as a travel and family pictures.
Great camera! took me long time to choose between a6700 and xt5. Autofocus performance and ergonomy were the key factors after all. I'm using sigma 10-18 + 56 and sony 70-350 all are very good. Probably I will get also sigma 30. If I could change something I would go with bigger and higher res viewfinder and flip out screen rather than fully articulated.
This camera is by far the best for it's price range and surpasses some of the more expensive ones. I have full frame from Sony and Nikon but this one is my go to camera due to its compactness and picture and video quality. It's the best hybrid camera. Love my viltrox's and sigmas on this one. I
I finally upgraded two weeks ago from getting A6000 2014. The only negative for me is the flippy screen thing. I hate it. With the 6000 it was so convenient when you get down with the camera just tilt the screen up a bit and look at it without having the screen sticking out the side of the camera, so annoying. Sometimes I think Sony try to cater to content creators more than the average photographer.
I have the a7iv and I fucking love that thing. It’s a perfect hybrid machine. The only thing I want is more portability/cheaper lenses. The a6700 is what I’m eyeballing for my second cam.
OK, great camera, but it's still an app-c sensor, so I don't know how anyone can say it's just as good as full-frame. It's like saying a 1 ft x 2 ft image is just as good as a 2 ft x 3 ft image. The bigger image obviously is more desirable. But yes, there are benefits to a smaller package as you've described.
Hey Curtis, I’ve currently got an A7IV and although I love the images and video it produces, the form factor is making me want to take it out less than I’d like. About 90% of the things I shoot are landscapes, street, portraits, travel. Some videography paid work for cafes and gyms, and also vlogging my daily life. I’m also looking at doing some night time event photography (for fun that is). I’m aware that a full frame camera is the way to go for that, but I wondering if the a6700 with a 1.2 viltrox lens will be sufficient for that? Or do you think moving to an a7cii would be better for both travel and some professional work? Love the videos and any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
Still stuck between the a6700 or the a7cii.... either way I'd go with the 2 small Sigma zoom lenses. is the full frame really going to be that much better! for the 1k price increase for full frame???
If I wasn’t already Fuji-pilled, I’d seriously consider this camera. I bet I would love the sensor more because I’m not a fan the of x-trans sensor that Fuji use. If the Sony had two memory card slots and dedicated dials for exposure, I would seriously consider switching from Fuji X-T5.
Actually, about the dials, when you are in aperture priority mode with auto ISO, can you easily switch to a shutter speed to something outside of what the camera wants to use? Or do you have to choose a different auto ISO preset or switch to another mode? On my X-T5 I can just turn the shutter speed dial in any mode. But on my GFX I have to switch to another mode or a different ISO preset. (The presets include a range of ISO and shutter speed the camera is trying to stay within. I assume other brands have this, but just in case, that’s the description of it.)
A6000, A6500 & A6600 user still waiting for an APS-C camera from Sony with stacked sensor & blackout free shooting. Also, I'm clumsy so that side flippy out screen is just asking to be knocked off.
Fantastic camera. I love mine. The only down side is the built in intervalometer. Autofocus disables when it is switched on. Apparently, external intervalometer s are NOT compatible with the a6700. I would absolutely be delighted if you could prove me wrong on that. I'd gladly welcome a solution. Love your videos btw.

i’m thinking about getting a a6100 with the lens kit from the Sony website. I have no knowledge of photography or how to edit photos. I just wanna pick up a new hobby and learn as I go but need a little help. Is that a good camera choice? and if so what else should I purchase with it?
Yes, A6100 is a very good choice. I've bought myself this camera 2 years ago and I'm still not sure if it is worth upgrading it to A6700. I highly recommend you buy a set ILCE-6100Y with two lenses: 16-50 mm and 55-210 mm, the zoom adds a lot of.
How to switch off NR at high ISO in video? It is too aggressive and eats detail...I would prefer small cine grainy noise without losing detail but do not know how to set it in menu.
I just switched to Sony with the a6700 like last week haha. What an incredible camera indeed and the size is just perfect. I'm pairing it with a Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 and Viltrox 27mm f1.2. My use case is for personal family/travel camera and part time B Cam for church production.
Its actually pretty great! Its a proper girth and weight of a lens for an a6700 body esp. having those glass for an f1.2. I just prefer the wider fov over the 75mm. Im pretty set now I guess but maybe the last piece of the puzzle will be a lens wider than 18mm with f1.4 either the Sigma 16mm or the Sony 15mm.
Hey man! So if you’re shooting with the A6700 that’s no problem as that camera has IBIS. If not the Tamron 17-70 is a good choice. Also depending on what you are shooting you might be able to invest in a gimbal. Hope that helps! 🙌
Hello from Lisbon! Currently I’m using Sony a6400 and it feels great, however due to a strong tremor - I need to switch to something with IBIS onboard, which means - 6700 :) I’m just curious if it makes sense to get the 6700 now, or it is better to wait for an updated model? Or 6700 is not so old and we can barely hope for some updates in the foreseen future? Wdyt? :)
Hmm S5ii has solid and competent AF with rock solid ibis but kinda heavy with still young L mount catalogue . Sony has cheat code level AF with so so Ibis ( you will have to use catalyst browse to smooth the footage out later ) . Sony has a very mature lens catalogue like canon or m43. If you are a true hybrid user and need that extra bit of light S5ii ( no apsc in lumix unfortunately). If you are more of a photographer then a6700. Don’t wait for updates Sony generally does a fine tuning but won’t give you a whole lot firmware wise but with lumix or even Fuji or Olympus you can be offered substantial updates to even old cameras . Hopefully this helps.
@ I’m just doing photos and really appreciate the amount of different lens for Sony E system, looks like indeed I’ll go for 6700 and live a happy life :) thank for your answer!
Had the a7cii great for photos sucked at videos for the price it doesn’t make sense to even upgrade from the a6700 I order the a6700 sold the a7cii and I’m gonna go grab an a6700 again . All around it’s just better

I love your videos!👍🏻 Respect and i apreciate your content!✌🏻
True but remember these cameras are in different leagues supposedly. But despite that, this A6700 is very much comparable to many full-frame cameras. So for the money you’d expect an A1II to vastly outperform an A6700. So doesn’t really matter if Sony do release that camera honestly as those cameras are for different purposes and targeted towards different shooters. That’s just my opinion 🙌
@@CurtisPadley I know what you meant. It's just that the sentence isn't correct. You could either say "1080p can only be done UP TO 120 fps" or switch the order of the sentence to "120 fps can only be done at 1080p" Btw, I'm just nitpicking here, but otherwise I'm a big fan of your channel :)

How is the Viltrox 27mm f1.2 on this ? Is it a good addition to sigma 18-50 or is it better to save up on the money ?
Its actually pretty great! Its a proper girth and weight of a lens for an a6700 body esp. having those glass for an f1.2. I just prefer the wider fov over the 75mm. Im pretty set now I guess but maybe the last piece of the puzzle will be a lens wider than 18mm with f1.4 either the Sigma 16mm or the Sony 15mm.
@tjdultra6982 don't forget viltrox has 13mm f1.4 (equivalent 20mm on fullframe), the lens is very stunning and provides a wider viewing angle
Hey Curtis! Can you recommend us some lenses for video? All the sigma ones have no stabilization so video comes out pretty shaky! Thanks man!
Hey man! So if you’re shooting with the A6700 that’s no problem as that camera has IBIS. If not the Tamron 17-70 is a good choice. Also depending on what you are shooting you might be able to invest in a gimbal.
Hope that helps! 🙌
Just put my zve10 on marketplace, knew I should’ve bought the a6700 instead!!
Is there an English version of this video?
@@gerardowmby7156 yeah you are watching it dude 🙌
was rolling shutter an issue at least 1 time in 1 year usage?
@@elchemyst Not from what I’ve been shooting 📸😃
Had the a7cii great for photos sucked at videos for the price it doesn’t make sense to even upgrade from the a6700 I order the a6700 sold the a7cii and I’m gonna go grab an a6700 again . All around it’s just better
Good for DJ videography?? With sigma 16mm 1.4.
Yup
Absolutely! 🪩🕺📸
Aren't you tempted to get a Fuji?
Nope fujifim is cool and all but I’m very happy in the Sony club 🙌
I miss the feature to take photo during video recording.
@@szabiyt I don’t recall that ever being a feature on Sony mirrorless cameras 🤔
Its the lens, you are using. A6700 has no dual slots and high MP (for cropping) as well - otherwise I would have jumped on it :) each his own

- Zoom lens for travel sigma 18-50mm - Fixed lens with best image quality (like gmaster) viltrox 27mm f1.2 or 75mm f1.2
It is in some ways better than many FF cameras, until Sony releases a A1c I guess.
Sigma can bite the dust, pair it with Tamron 17-70 and you have the best travel camera... period
@@joroboyvn in your opinion, I prefer the sigma 🙌
See you in 🇻🇳
That sounds oddly intimidating rather then welcoming 🤣
@ 😂
10:52 aw man:( not that reference
🔥
i wanted one but got a a7iii due to price.
I had that camera first and sold it to get the a6700 and rather have the full frame but to each its own
"shooting 1080 can only be done at 120 FPS" I guess you meant the other way around...
The A7IV and A7CII can only shoot at 120fps at 1080p and the A6700 can do it at 4k 120fps and 240fps can be done in 1080 hope that clears things up 🙌
@@CurtisPadley I know what you meant. It's just that the sentence isn't correct. You could either say "1080p can only be done UP TO 120 fps" or switch the order of the sentence to "120 fps can only be done at 1080p"
Btw, I'm just nitpicking here, but otherwise I'm a big fan of your channel :)
Cool 😊Grüße aus Berlin
LOOK AT ME, ROB ME 😂
I'm your fan from myanmar but now I live in Thailand so if you are in Thailand let me know and I really want to meet you in person ❤ Thank you mate 🫶
Had one and had to sell it....huge mistake
💔😢
Why ??
I think the stab is pretty bad for video
@@mac24x7 The stab? Your phone is doing some werid autocorrect if that was supposed to be Sony 😅
@@CurtisPadleyI think he was just too lazy to write "stabilisation"
Forget apsc nonsense. It's absolute crap in any low light situation, shadows look noisy and unusable. Amateur hour

Thank you for nothing Curtis;). I'm not finished with my collection of lenses. I'm looking for the Sigma 10-18 2.8, but this lens ist not very cheap. And after that I could consider uprading my A6400. You're not helpful, really.
