Strengths and weakness comparison should include bright room viewing. My OLED is now in my bedroom and my QN90B is in my living room because of just that. Your video is entirely in a very dark area which omits a very important part of viewing.
I was also looking for the same set up, 70+ oled in the room and 80+ mini led in the living room. Another reason for this is I want to get a big enough screen for both places. For the 70 inch range OLED has 77 inch which is 2 inch bigger than mini LED's 75, and for the 80+ range, mini led is usually 86 inch, where OLED is 83.

@@audie-cashstack-uk4881 I do. I live on a golf course with good views and I don’t want to have my windows blackened out. If you do fine. My environment led me to a mini-led. And I’m glad I did. Looks great at nighttime too but I’m sure oled would be better in that situation. I might get one for my bedroom someday.
Thanks KG for the overview of each tech's pros and cons, if we are honest, there is no perfect tv rather we need to pick the best fit for our individual tastes an use cases. For me, I am ok with a bit of small blooming for a overall brighter picture, just pick your choice and forget about the critical analysis about what's wrong and enjoy your choice for what is right. Waiting for the qd oleds. It would be great if they are the best of both combined. Otherwise, this comparison makes it hard to choose. Obviously more detail on the dimmer oled and too bright sometimes, and I don't like missing stars. Great comprarison video as usual!
The question I have about these side-by-side OLED vs. Neo Qled comparisons is they don't match at all what I see with my own eyes when I go into Best Buy, like I did today, and compared a QN90A with an LG C1 Oled. In your video, the brightness of both TVs looks about the same. In real life though, it's not even close. The OLED appears much more dark/drab compared to the QN90a. It's a huge difference when you see them in person. Anyway, I would recommend comparing the OLED and Neo QLEDs in person before choosing between them. Based on this video, I would have bought a C2, but based on what I have seen in person, I would have gone with a Neo QLED. Granted, Best Buy is a bright environment, but even with that the difference in brightness is very noticeable IMO.
When it comes between these two it legitimately depends on personal preference and the environment you're putting them in. You can't lose with either of these panels.
Definitely prefer the left king as the QN90 has a beaming effect on brighter subjects which I find unnatural. In other words, the OLED just seems much more naturally pleasing.
That comparison was 🔥 I feel the same way with the QN800B. Both have strengths and weaknesses. At the end of the day, it's up to that person to pick the right TV for them!

Great to hear you enjoyed it thats exactly what I was hoping for I am likely doing most of my side by sides in this manner going forward but sometimes I will mix it up and if I do ill mention the different methods I used like I did in this video.
I went with the QN90B because I have my tv on for many hours a day either on UA-cam or Twitch. Not having to worry about burn in is a blessing. Blooming and blacks are a lot better than my previous x900h. Though blacks and contrast aren’t as good as an OLED, I’m overall happy with this purchase. 9/10 for me.
@@Jugglenaught1980 Warranty is certainly the way to go for OLED, I got one for my OLED monitor. With that said, my local BestBuy put up a S95B for a few months, granted its been running 247, but it's already got the Samsung Logo that pops up maybe once an hour for 10 seconds at a time burnt in already. Im glad I got the Qn90B because I leave my tv on for most of the day so I don't have to worry about it.
@@Jugglenaught1980 Hate to break it to you, but the only warranty that covers burn in that I'm aware of is Best Buy. Costco/Allstate warranty has confirmed multiple times they don't warrant burn-in.

That's because the colors ARE better. Color volume, spectral composition, and color gamut are all better on the QLED. And it's easy to see in person. My CX looks dull and lifeless next to my Pioneer Kuro (Pro-101FD) and QN90B.
@@cyberedge881 I have QN90A when it's come to daylight movies and images yes it's great. But OLED stills the most perfect and natural TV, there are a lot LCD's problems that OLED doesn't have, blooming, ghosting, black smearing, higher response time. But OLED has probability to burn-in unfortunately. The next TV I buy will be OLED cause for gaming these LCDs problems that I mentioned really bother.
I have yet to see a side by side comparison this well done. However, I have not seen a QLED v OLED video where the QLED doesn’t look better with the brightness and vibrancy making the OLED look dull. However, in real life I am very happy with the overall look, brightness, and infinite contrast of my A80j without the DSE and blooming of Qleds. Great times we are living in to have so many good choices. Different needs for different people. Great video
You’re not missing out. I had an LG C9 for 3 years, and I sold it and am trying out the Sony X95J. Now, the QN90a/QN90b gets brighter than my Sony, but I find myself actually turning down the brightness. I would only need the extra brightness if my room was soaked in sunlight. What I do notice though, is the blooming and how the screen looks a bit dirty, whereas OLED always looked clean. My problems with OLED were 24p stutter and the near black crush. But you don’t have that latter problem with your A80j 😛 P.S. That’s not to say I didn’t wish for more brightness at times on the OLED. HDR brightness was great, but SDR would come up a little short at times.
We're in the HDR era, and this is oleds downfall. Properly engineered mini led can make oleds redundant, and in future, micro led will make all but small led redundant.
@@TheKwod but its not there yet. so far oled is still better in black scene like fireworks or star but 2-3 more its probably gonna beat OLED hell i might even think the sony x95k can beat oled with its superior local dimming algorithm. i mean look at x90j its only have 24 local dimming its look amazing now imagine Sony Local dimming algorithm with 500-2000 zones

If one buys the 90b or 800/900b they'll get premium HDR HDTV with no concerns for weak brightness, fluctuating brightness and possible longevity issues. Dark room with just normal DVD/BD, no probs with new and expensive oled, but for everything else, 90b and 90b calibre led ftw.
Bought my first oled tv and went with the LG C2. I had to see this and a mini led side by side in the store and just the contrast and inky blacks looked better to me. I have a dark room so the oled is beautiful overall. I am excited with the competition in the tv market and cant wait to see how much higher they can go!
I do think the OLED looks better overall and is more accurate, and I do hate the dirty screen effect many LEDs have, BUT the 75" QN90B is $1800 and the 77" LG C2 is $1000 more at $2800. The difference of $1000 is really substantial for these two TVs that are fairly close. Plus I keep my TVs for like a decade, and keeping that in mind I worry about burn-in issues down the road with OLED panels. Thank you for the video/comparison! I've watched some few comparisons on this kind of content but yours was the best and most simplified with that said, I prefer most of the images from the neo qled better.
Something to note with the QN90B (or QN90A) is that you can tweak the settings to make it look more like it is copying an OLED. If you set it too dark you start losing detail in certain scenes but it is impressive how close it can get. I love my QN90A for a room with a lot of light coming in.
@Marius Y I don't mess with the shadows. I make sure contrast enhancer is off, movie mode, and lower the brightness to about 20 if you are in a dark room.
I think some of the highlight push on QN90B may also appear more severe due to the booming when those highlights are against a dark backdrop. This was especially noticeable in the sunset images where the QN loses a lot of detail in favor of a bright blob on the screen.

I bought 77" A80J Oled not knowing that my very bright room will make it impossible to watch TV during daytime glare/reflection problem, so Costco TV expert told me to return/replaced with 85" QN85A. Big difference, the quality of neoQled is almost the same as the Oled at night. At night all light out, OLED is the winner, but daytime neo Qled won handily. All my family member voted to keep the neo Qled, both on day and night watching TV (with side by side comparison). A80J was returned after 1 week of side by side comparison on regular TV program... I think neoQled is far better on watching regular TV program, even on 4K TV program I prefer Qled, also 300 bucks cheaper/8"bigger Qled.

That's an amazing comparison right there. Lots of people don't realize that overall QLED wins and this just confirms that, OLED say gets 100% score at night and 50% during the day on semi to bright room but QLED gets 80% at night and 95% during the day (80+95=175 over OLED which is about 150%) so overall QLED will win over OLED in a mixed room but in the dark room or basement with no window OLED wins. For for most people who need a good Tv for their family room which most likley is a mixed (semi bright, dark at night and semi bright or bright during the day) room QLED wins. I experienced the same situation too however I love Song OLED because of their colours, Google Tv (apps get updated constantly), layout of the OS and menus, only if Samsung can get Google Tv then in my opinion their would sell much more Tv.
@@ownerr8441 Yes, this is exactly what happen in my situation, qled is close enough to Oled at night with lights out, but the difference is I can see the image now during daytime. While before it give me a headache just to watch my oled 77" a80j, all I can see is reflection and glare.
This was a great analysis and nice seeing both of these TV's side by side as they're the two TV's I'm currently debating. I have to say that for my eyes, I think I prefer the QLED throughout most of this video. I think I just like a brighter screen and seeing things pop a bit more. I definitely can see more detail in some of the darker scenes with the OLED though. I kind of think it really depends on your situation, the room the TV will be in and what your eyes like most. I can say too that I owned a Panny Plasma for 5 or 6 years before replacing it with a Samsung LED and always felt like the Samsung blew away the Panny. So I do think I just prefer that brighter, more dynamic picture.
I have a feeling that watching video taken of both screens on a computer monitor is going to favor the strengths of the QLED more, since it can brighter which will be picked up on camera and somewhat evident in the video. You really can't see the strengths of an OLED by watching recorded video of it on any other type of screen. Also keep in mind if the screens are side by side (like in this video) the camera is probably adjusting its exposure based on the brightest light in the shot, which is probably going to make the OLED image look a little "underexposed", which is not how it would look in person.
I will say this, Dont judge by this here. Go and see both tvs Live and whatever your eyes like get that. I thot the same thing when I saw reviews ohh boi that qled looks better.... Once I saw the OLED in live I change my mind really quick :) There is a clear diffrence between both. To my eyes the OLED produces much more accurate colors. So I have 3 OLEDs home.
My feelings exactly, and I've been strongly leaning towards an OLED. HOWEVER, I'm viewing this video on a 7 year old 1080p computer monitor. I love the dark/black and depth of field I see on a real OLED unit compared to the brighter, more vivid QLED screens. But if a QLED can get tweaked downward to closely mimic the "blackness" achieved with OLED, well, there's a pretty big price difference between the two.

Probably the first comparison I've seen where the LCD isn't overexposed or the OLED underexposed, very well done! Well, you can't really beat OLED, that's no surprise. The QN90B does well enough though, and burn in is a huge concern for me on a TV so expensive, so I'm leaning Samsung's side. I'll probably get the QN85B though, hope to see comparisons as this featuring it soon.
@@sundarchip think it depends on the OLED tbh. I had a C1 which was really bad with black crush, and the A80J I have now is way better, shows a lot more detail in shadows and darkness and doesn’t just crush it
@@jackdubs25 Actually if you get your C1 calibrated you can clean up the black crush quite a bit. LG is terrible with out of the box calibration, Sony actually tries to calibrate their tv's before shipping them out and is one of the best for out of box calibration.
LG has gotten so good at making panels, burn-in isn’t even an issue anymore. Even when people really freaked out about it, it still took months of max brightness screen on time 24/7 to cause any damage to the pixels. Countless people have tested it over the years, and burn-in has never been an issue if you know how to use a TV.
@@kendil22 You’re seriously saying that Sony spends ours of their time every day to have a precessional calibrator calibrate every single one of the thousands of TVs running down their production line to make sure each and every TV is perfectly calibrated when it gets to you? You’ve been chugging that Sony marketing Kool-Aid man.
*GREAT VIDEO Personally I think the Oled looks a bit better due to the contrast and dark scenes, but even last years 83” C1 is still very expensive at $4500+ while the 85” QN90A only cost $3000. With that $1500 saving you can buy an Oled for your Bedroom which is exactly what I did a little over a year ago. Samsung Qled 75” for the living room and an LG Oled 65” for the bedroom.
Show me where you see better contrast on the OLED in this video. Because I own a CX, owned a C2 and then bought a QN90B and I can say that the black levels look nearly indistinguishable, but the QN90B gets a lot brighter. The OLEDs look constrained and dull in comparison. Colors also look so much more appealing on the QN90B. They look like my plasmas and CRTs, which is what I was looking for, since those have always been the best in terms of color reproduction.
Thank you for making this video. It must have been a lot of work. But the finished result is excellent. I've never seen an OLED vs LED comparison video done so well. You illustrate each TV's strengths and weaknesses very well. Great job! An important question: were these TVs calibrated or even adjusted at all, or are these "out of the box" in filmmaker or standard mode? To me, the OLED generally shows better depth, detail and richness. The LED is indeed brighter and has more "pop" than the OLED in some daylight outdoor scenes and the daylight racing game clips you showed. And also, as you said, in a number of clips the difference between the two is hard to discern. I'm not a gamer and primarily watch movies (but not comic book or superhero genres) and am an accuracy and filmmakers intent type of guy. Watching a good film in a dimly lit or dark room can really be an enjoyable.experience. I've never had an OLED TV and haven't bought a new TV in years. Been living with a 46" top of the line 1080p Samsung from 2009 (with fluorescent tube backlight!) which still runs perfectly. I think it's time to upgrade to a 65" 4K and I'm leaning toward the Sony A90K, A80K, or A80J. Thanks again for this very helpful video.
I love my C9 OLED but if your in a brighter room pick the QLED. It doesn’t do well in a bright room. So go to a Best Buy or tv place and look for yourself. I’m leaning toward the QN90B because of my bright living room.
@Radio K.A.O.S. I do think my Pioneer Pro-101FD looks better than my QN90B, but I also think both of them look much better than my LG CX. Motion, colors and brightness are all weak on the OLED.
I pre-ordered the Samsung 55" Class S95B OLED 4K Smart TV (2022) directly from Samsung. Samsung hasn't released these televisions to Best Buy and other retailers. I currently own a Samsung 2018 49 inch NU8000 Premium 4K UHD and a 2020 Samsung 32 inch 4K QLED televisions. The picture quality on both my Samsung televisions are fantastic. Let's face it, Samsung produce some of the best televisions along with Sony and LG. I will be using my Samsung S95B OLED to only watch cable Premium channels, sports channels, Netflix, and Amazon Prime movies. I usually look at the screen qualities in Best Buy, however, since Samsung hasn't released the S95B OLED to retailers, I haven't seen this Samsung OLED television in person.

I have just switched out from a Samsung Series 9 Qled to an LG Oled CS for my pc. I have been using Qled for years now and all I can say is that the "ultra brights of a Qled" are nice at first but you quickly turn that down as it really isn't great for your eyes, it starts giving you serious eye straight and fatigue along with headaches. Switching to the Oled has been incredible and make no mistake it is bright! I mean its sitting on your desk about half a meter from your face (I have the 55") it's far too bright so I have turned the brightness down to 65% and it really is phenomenal as a pc screen. The true blacks and vivid colours you get because of those true blacks bring on an incredibly high contrast ratio. The colours seem more true to life and the lack of bloom when playing games at night or working is such a welcomed difference! I don't think I could go back to an LCD again after this. I did get the blacks on my Qled pretty damn close to an Oled but at the end of the day it's still LCD and Oled just looks allot better. The entire experience as a whole has been great and this is after several Qleds over several years of daily use as a professional 3d animator working on Film and games.

Great comparison man! This is exactly why I still prefer gaming on my q90t qled than on my lg OLED. Gaming in hdr on the qled is just on another level.
i also have a q90t and a c1 my qled is 75 and my oled is 65 there both amazing tva and certain content i prefer on my qled and other on my oled both amazing tvs tho
What is it about the QLED over the OLED? I had been loving my Q80T. It got broken... so I've been waiting and contemplating what tv to replace it with. C1, C2, or qn90b
@@ryancasha7201 brightness man. That hdr brightness. It just can't be overlooked. And is the main reason why I prefer gaming on the qled. Grant you like Gio Torres said, some scenes look better on the oled and vice versa but in general the better all rounder is definitely the qled imo. That's my preference though and many people find OLEDs to be bright enough but for me once youve experienced the brightness of a flagship qled, going OLED definitely takes some adapting. But people will say qled has blooming. Yes it does have slight blooming if you're really looking for it. You've had a q80t so you know that blooming is quite overblown. If you have the dough definitely look into the new qd OLED s95b from Samsung. It's an OLED with a brighter image. They're quite expensive so if that's too much I'd definitely look into the qn90b. C2 if you don't mind the lower brightness while having superior contrast and black levels. Don't worry about burn in though I use mine as a PC monitor and nothing whatsoever with full brightness!
Maybe I am crazy but I consistently find there are more details on the OLED from these comparisons - maybe the cameras used to film this are blowing out details too much on the QLED but I find there is more detail in the image always on the OLED. @10:22 for instance I feel there is more detail in the King's collar and face on the OLED even though the QLED is of course brighter
Great comparsion. I have switched to Oled TV recently. The main difference to me is that the characters are much more realistic in dolby vision movies because of excellent black level. QLED Tv is good but it cannot give you that realistic feeling.
For me what is an important distinction here is what the HDR specs actually are and what HDR is supposed to be. It’s supposed to be about specular. About the highlights. Traditional video is 0-100 nits of brightness. Anything in that range is easy but eventually specular hits that ceiling of 100 nits and gets cut off or dulled. Metal just never looked real like it does in real life. HDR now can increase that to 0-10,000 nits. That means there is so much more range above the 100 nits we could do before. HDR is all about the brightness. OLED is great but it’s great for SDR as well since it handles that 0-100 range very well. It’s how it handles everything in the 0-25 nit range that really makes it shine. Which benefits SDR just as much as it benefits HDR. Those dark nighttime scenes. Which you don’t even really need HDR for. A lot of the value range content that looks great on OLED will in fact be in the 0-100 nit range and not technically even be HDR. The issue I have with OLED is it at best handles up to 250 nits. In small amounts it might be able to do 800-1000 nits but that exponentially tapers off the more of the screen needs to be bright. It’s rather inconsistent because of this. One shot might be 800 nits and the next 250 nits depending on the percentage of the screen that needs to be bright. That’s why I think OLED is a great general TV but not a great HDR TV. I’m all about sustained performance and in the HDR pro market we tend to aim for a sustained 1000 nits right now as a standard. A lot of professional color grading HDR displays will in fact support a sustained 100% 1000 nits. The reason why the Apple XDR displays have 1600 nits is to have enough headroom to support sustained 1000 nits. It’s only when you can get to this at least 1000 sustained nits that you truly have a HDR experience. When some consumers feel like HDR is a scam it’s because unfortunately many “HDR” TVs are lucky to ever go past 250 nits sustained. That’s not really enough to ever be considered a decent HDR experience. Peak nits can help in some cases but reducing the specular we see to almost SDR levels to me isn’t HDR. Even when I’m grading HDR content if I tone map and limit to 250 nits it just doesn’t look all that great. It’s just not enough extra there to make HDR really show off what it’s truly capable of. The blooming does suck and it’s an unfortunate side effect of the technology choices we have at this time. At least it’s true HDR however. I have two Apple XDR displays and a sustained 1000 nits is amazing. I have a Samsung QLED and it gets very close to a sustained 1000 nits. I really want to love OLED but the sustained brightness frankly sucks and in my opinion really doesn’t fit the definition of HDR very well. If I mostly watched SDR content then OLED is absolutely the way to go but to me it’s just not a HDR display. I think this is why OLED is really popular with consumers. A lot of the content out there is SDR and in that situation OLED is about as good as it gets. For HDR it’s still better than what SDR could ever be even at 250 nits. It’s just not really true HDR and if the desire is to truly enjoy what HDR really has to offer than OLED is not the best choice. Having seen true HDR it’s really a game changer and 1000x more important than 8k or 3D could ever be. Someday we will have micro LED where essentially every dimming zone is a pixel. Right now QLED local dimming zones suck. The cheap LED TVs either have no dimming zones or something ridiculous where the screen is split into large chunks to light up at a time. That’s what causes the blooming. A 100x100 pixel region lit up at a time when a str may only be 1 pixel in size. The more local dimming zones a TV has the better it will get which will shrink the blooming. It will never be gone however until we get to micro LED. OLED may get brighter but it still really struggles with sustained performance. Both QLED and OLED are compromises right now. A pick your poison situation or pick the lesser of two evils. I don’t think either will ever be perfect. We need to get to the point where micro LED is affordable. Until that point we pick from two compromised solutions. At this time since I love true HDR I choose QLED and not OLED. OLED is a darn near perfect SDR TV but it’s not really HDR.
They are so close this year. For me it's gonna come down to price difference in the size that I'm after. The LG oled's in Australia are obscenely priced at RRP for the larger sizes.
I chose the qn90b. Couldn't be happier. Some scenes I simply cannot see the details in the background with the oled because it is simply so dark. I value bright vibrant coolours and no screen burn over Contrast and viewing angles
@@broughton1835 I returned it haha. Bought the Asus pg42uq instead. Went through 2 units of the Samsungs both with dead pixels so I wasn't satisfied. Just unboxed the Asus today. Had to pre order it. So much better
would be interesting to equalize peak light output on both...they might become even more similar. The real issue I am worried about is stutter...both of these sets have ultra fast response times which is great for games, but not great for movies.
@@0111maged i have tested a 43" qn90b now, i take back what i said, its the fastest VA panel ive ever seen, i cant see any Black smearing in games ive tested other va monitors before, The rtings review doesnt make justice to it.
That Qn90b looks so alive. It really and truly brings life to the image. If what the movie makers intended for the audience to see looks closer to the C2 then I definitely don't want it. Just looks to lifeless. Definitely excited about purchasing the Qn90b this year during the holiday sales.
@Bzake why would I "just crank the colors?" The LG wasn't meant to just "crank the colors." Samsung was created to have those punchy colors that are eye candy to the average consumer. Now with their processing this year, it seems as if they've gotten the little things right.

KG I like that your videos are simple with visual comparison and not numbers comparison. No one sit on their couch saying oh this tv brightness is 700 nits vs the other at 650 nits, it's all about how it looks visually. So great job KG. BTW how is the audio on the QN90B compare to A80J?

I think where the Neo Qled really shines is when you are watching tv in a not completely pitch black dark room. I have 4m high south facing windows in my living room so watching tv in the daytime on an oled panel would just really not work. Hence why I got the QN800A
For me Mini LED is the clear winner over OLED, at least in my use case, since I'll be using it as PC monitor. I won't have to worry about burn-in at all for many years to come.
thats cool but for me its the other way around, I both tvs and oled wins by far, qled is still lcd and has blooming when looking at dark scenes, it looks better in store but once you have it in your room you can notice its fault more easily, the only thing bad about oled is that it WILL have burn in eventually no matter how well you take care of it
The C2 as a PC monitor is by far better. 1ms, g-sync and freesync, as you will be close to the TV, the quality of the OLED is sensational. As for the burning in the new models, there is already enough technology to prevent this from happening, the risk would be for something static for many, many hours.
@@SER6I0 I agree, you're absolutely right, but it was just my personal decision to not have to deal with the risk of burn in, since organic LEDs will deteriorate by nature no matter what over time. I need something that will last for a really long time since it's a big investment for me!
No but you will have to worry about this, FROM DAY ONE; Backlight bleed, halo effect, dirty screen effect, corner glow, bad uniformity, smearing, bad viewing angles, should I go on? If you are using a LCD TV with Mini LED backlight for gaming, you are making a huge mistake too, because the backlighting control will pretty much get disabled in gaming mode, or you would see 200-300 ms input lag. This is the reason why LCDs with FALD and Mini LED backlighting loses ALOT image quality in gaming mode; It's pretty much working as an edge lit LED panel.
For those who like to use a large display as a computer monitor: the 50" QN90B can do 4K @ 144 hz. I was bummed to find out the 55" and up will only do 120 hz.
I prefer the C2. I can close the blinds if watching in daytime. We got use to the C1 and it's beside a double width window. It is dimmer than the LED TV we replaced. At night the HDR is sometimes too bright and I do notice the automatic brightness limiter. I would still be perfectly fine with the QN90B. When they are not side by side each TV looks amazing, which is how it will be in your home. The main reason I went with the OLED was because I'm a gamer and I liked that the C1 has 4 X HDMI 2.1 ports, which is now something the QN90B has. I think Micro LED will eventually be the best, but it won't be a home run. The smaller the panel, the smaller the pixels, and the smaller the pixels, the smaller the peak brightness. At a similar size, I feel Micro LED and OLED will have a similar level of brightness.
What a great comparison you did Hope qd-oled brings little more brightness than conventional oled to up the hdr game in oled department. Can’t wait to see your review on qd-oled either sony or samsung
I couldn’t care less. Brightness really doesn’t matter much. As long as it’s bright enough to produce a pure white, it doesn’t matter whether it’s 800nit max, or 8000nit max.

Great comparison. There is a clarity and sharpness of image with the contrast the OLED reaches the QN90B can't match. That still pleases my eye more than pure brightness. I think I will be going the G2 or be checking out the Sony OLED's/QD-OLED.
This year Samsung display created their own OLED display QD-OLED (qd-oled offers do much more improvements than lg oled e.g - better color reproduction, brighter panles etc) which Sony and Samusng will use in their this year's models.

We do our TV watching in a rather dark room so viewing dark scenes has always been a challenge. With the OLED eliminating the flash-lighting (think that's what it's called), that's a game changer. But the Q-Symphony is the X-factor that keeps me coming back to the QN90B. To have the TV audio in sync with the sound bar (which I'm also researching) looks like a awesome feature.
I think we're in the same situation. I wanted an OLED TV, but Samsung doesn't offer that option in Brazil. However, I have a great Samsung soundbar and I'd like to use the sync feature. I'm still between the C2 and the QN90B.
I have the oled and watching TV became an amazing adventure every time. But when you go to the shop and see this two side by side you notice how much the qled is far brighter but, when you focus on the oled your eyes adjust to the low brightens and the watching experience is above amazing!
I think what's clinching the QN90B for me is Q Symphony. The slightly saturated picture quality, and blooming I really won't notice, is a fair trade for superior sound quality
Since I watch mostly at night/dark and don't have a QLED to A/B compare with, I'm happy with the picture of our OLED (CX). Really love how QLEDs have come such a long way... helps push tech forward.
I love how vivid the mini led qled is. It pops and the colors are so vivid. It also has amazing black levels that are almost on par with the oled. Samsungs new qd oled is the best of both worlds. Qled mixed with oled it’s perfect
I find the qn90a performs better than oled on dark games vs the C1. Not sure about the C2 and 90b. But I’m very dark games you can kinda mess with the settings on the Samsung to be able to see details in the dark very good, vs it being too dark to function on the oled without needing to equip a flashlight and getting sniped out by other players due to you running a light in game.
I think when you do a side by side comparison, the brighter panel is always going to look instinctively better and pop more. However, when you see the darker tv in person, your pupils quickly adjust and then it becomes the same brightness. At that point it boils down to details, which the oled clearly wins in. There were some scenes were he said that 'the qled clearly looks better here', which I agreed with the first time I watched the video, but on the second time I actually thought the oled was better. This is because I looked into fine details and that there were areas that highlights and brightness had completely washed out details into white blotches. Game icons were no longer legible and object inside flames and lights were no visible in the whiteness. Also when I saw the sword with more saturated color highlight, I have to wonder if that color was really the film's intent or if the qled is just oversaturating the color. So do you want a tv that is more detailed and accurate (oled) or do you want a tv that tries its hardest to hit your dopamine receptors with bright lights and oversaturated colors? Theres probably a way to oversaturate your oled if you really want.

Thanks for the video. It certainly is enlightening seeing the two side-by-side. History dictates that the OLED won't last as long, especially without eventual permanent image retention. According to YT techies the CX & C1 both suffered burn-in when being used extensively as a PC monitor. Also, the reviews have said the Samsung can manage 144hz vs 120hz. The QN90B also has better screen reflection handling and text clarity is perfect vs the C2 OLED due to how the sub sampling is handled. However, off angle viewing will always be better with OLED & the new 'QOLED'. As a long term gaming or PC display the QLED is where the smart money lies. But as a typical TV/movie magnet then I'd go with the LG/OLED. I've been pulling my hair out over the two for a while now. I purchased a Samsung Odyssey G9 over the LG CX due to image retention concerns. I know things have gotten better since the CX but I'd be using the panel as a an editing display - retention is likely when the same window boxes are open 12+ hours a day. I like to game occasionally. If I wasn't an editor I'd more than likely go for the OLED. Thanks again for you effort.
The main problem on the QN90B is that the image is seem to be not natural when you compared it to the C2 or the C1, the light is bluring and the 3D effect is just amazing on the LG OLED !
I think I watched an older video where you acknowledged you don't calibrate your TVs and just use the presets. That LG can certainly look a whole lot better than this. I agree, looking at it as is the Samsung is better. But once dialed in that LG can be an amazing looking TV and far better than we are seeing here. I don't know when the change happened but it seems that most people nowadays don't get their TVs calibrated and instead opt for the presets. I remember when I was younger and everyone who bought this level of TV was going that extra mile to get them calibrated or doing it themselves. Seriously people, it's not that hard and you don't need to spend a fortune to do it. Some test patterns and a blue filter will allow you to dial in your TV a heck of a lot better than any preset can.
Just received a C2 over the weekend. The C2 is not up to par with the Gen 5 processor showing no improvement - LG just leaves much to be desired concenning image sharpness. The image it produces is also just as dark as the C1 and in some cases the C2 seems darker. This might be a good gaming TV but its not good movie watching!
I've heard the new OLED tvs coming out this year are going to be substantially brighter than the 2022 models. Probably going to wait until this time next year to purchase one of those models when they start to get discounted. Either way you look at it it's exciting with the technologies being developed for the home viewing segment. We've come a long way since CRTs were the best thing available!
Nothing, absolutely nothing "pulls" me out of a movie more than blooming. Every single time I see blooming on my Q80T I'm reminded that I have an Lcd screen.

Despite the high contrast with a black background, an exaggerated glow can be seen on the fireworks. In terms of image quality and colors they seem quite similar to me. Although I have noticed that the Samsung tends to saturate the colors more in some situations. The biggest difference is the brightness in favor of the samsung but in general I would buy the OLED.
I have a feeling that the QN90B is bright indeed. However, that brightness takes away from real colors. For example, in the king comparison, the QN90B makes the gold look fake. LG OLED has darker images but the peak brightness for HDR content more than suffices. Essentially, the LG is not for a bright room setting. But I mean BRIGHT! I have the C2, and the c2 is so detailed that brightness is not a factor. Very well pleased and spoiled with this new experience.
I bought an 2020 LG CX to replace a ten-year-old Sharp Aquos HD LED (the one that had the yellow LEDs, along with RBG). From day one, I was disappointed in the vibrancy of the OLED. The Sharp picture was much brighter and the colors popped. I liken it to the difference between flat paint and glossy paint. Except for the 4k component of the LG, I really thought the Sharp looked better. After two years, just a couple of weeks ago, the LG CX developed a thin black vertical line just right of center. Because I had purchased an insurance plan, after several pics and videos of the TV sent to the insurance company, I was approved for a replacement. I was able to choose my own replacement, as long as it was comparable to the LG. I chose the QN90B. I haven't received it yet, but am really looking forward to having a much brighter, more vibrant picture. We shall see.
I still have the QLED QN90B. I love it. The colors definitely do pop. It's much brighter than the OLED. I also don't notice blooming being much different on the QLED vs. the OLED. I use to see blooming on the OLED when there were white letters on a black background. But now I'm not thinking about or worrying about burn-in or the LEDs degrading over time. The other big difference between the two TVs is the sound. It is many times better on the Samsung. While I HAD to use a sound bar on the LG, and turn on closed captioning, just to be able to hear the dialog, I do neither with the Samsung. The voices are clear, the bass is great, the overall sound is just natural. I don't think about that either, like I always did with the LG. When I'm in the market for another TV, unless some new tech comes out, I'd definitely get a QLED.
Good comparison but OLED had the brighter biased lighting behind it to give it an edge for better contrast.both TV's should've been compared with no biased lighting to get a better assessment on dark room performance
Ironically with good rear lighting the black levels of LCD perceptually clean up really well, a high end LCD panel can get very close to OLED quality. "Blooming" is not limited to LCD, it's also a totally natural effect of your eyes and you're never going to see perfectly clean borders on bright highlights (just to confirm I'm not crazy every once in a while I closely inspect my LG C1 to confirm that the panel is in fact not blooming and it is just my eyes).
I heard bias lighting doesn't do anything to improve contrast on oleds as it has an infinite contrast ratio so I'm not sure if it helped the oled in this comparison.
I own q91a it has VA panel instead of IPS (in Europe). And blooming in hard scenes is noticeable, I mean like this fireworks you showed. But in all other scenes it is just awesome in terms of darkness. But to be sure, qled is far way behind oleds, but it does its job very well in dark scenes, especially this va panel. In other scenes I would pick qled always - brightness and HDR is mind blowing
I own a QN90B and an LG CX OLED and to me, in my dim room, the difference between the QLED and the OLED in black levels is minimal. What is very noticeable to me are the much better colors on the QLED, along with the superior motion and much higher brightness. The better viewing angles are the one thing I like about the OLED. Otherwise the QLED looks a lot better to me. It doesn't have the problem with black crush and making things look too dark. At least not to nearly the same degree
Never has led tvs been able to look as deep and rich next to an oled. Watch comparisons from 3 to 4 years ago and oked always and I mean always looked so much deeper and rich while led had bright saturated colors. Now it seems it can do everything! Very nice! Samsung really looks good with there white balance this year on the 90b also. Now I love what I've seen with the Samsung in its movie modes but not so much in its game mode. But you know what game mode on most tvs isn't as good so I'm sure buyers could deal with that and adjust settings to there liking lol see ehere rhe sony a90j comes in handy is in that sword scene the a90j I'd so intense in those type of scenes from how they boost it. The yellows and orbages cone through so so much better then lg oled tvs do. The lg processor doesn't seem to shine things up like Samsung and sony does. Like the blue cape again you can see the brightness on sony oled and the shine on the cape like Samsung. So I think that comes down to processing and algorithms on how the tvs read scenes not just brightness lol.
I would rather put up with DSE that I probably won't notice 99% of the time than a burnt in ESPN and Pornhub logo in the corner of the screen. Thank you for this comparison!
I researched this alot. Brought home an oled tv, after two days, took it back and got the neo qled. Much happier. Oled is strictly for movie watching in my opinion.
The LG OLED gives a cleaner, more natural image that is more 'cinematic'. With the kings comparison, the Samsung showed more saturation on the king making his skin-tone redder and thus not as realistic.
Also the oled is bette then the qled but with mini led qled it’s so good that the difference is very minor, plus the brightness is so much better and there’s no burn in risk at all. So I’d go with that.
I prefer the oled but to incredible displays , i seen the qd oled tv in person and qd oled monitor its incredible , and so I'm looking forward to sony and Samsung 's final cut of the Qd 0led.
Today I Bought C2 55 Inches Oled. For Clarity It Nowhere Near To The Latest Neo QLED. I Watched Same Content Side By Side. The Neo Qled Lacks Clarity, Dynamic Range and Also Depth.

Amazing how OLED and LED trade blows like they do currently. LED wins with brightness/highlights, and OLED wins at pure black/contrast. Dirty screen can be a downside of LED, but OLED still has image retention/burn-in issues. Do you want your DSE now with and LED, or later on an OLED, especially where gaming is concerned?

OLED does not have burnin issues at all. I have 3 in my house and zero burnin, at peak brightness. B9, C9 and G1. They have 1000+ hours of PC/Console usage on top of 2000+ hours of movies and series, and just static flow tv. Burn in has not really been an issue since 2018/2019 panels and there is built in safety in software to counter it too.
They don't trade blows at all, when you see them in person side by side. LCD is still garbage for dark room viewing and has tons of issues; Halo effect, backlight bleed, corner glow, smearing, dirty screen effect and I could go on. There is a reason for even Samsung Display abandons LCD now. They will focus on QD-OLED and AMOLED going forward, not LCD. LCD will only be used in their lower tier TVs and they will buy panels from 3rd party from now on, since Samsung Display don't make them anymore. Another huge issue with LCD, even the most expensive ones, is that they loose so much image quality in gaming mode, because the backlight (FALD or Mini LED backlight) can't be controlled fast enough to have acceptable input lag, so it mostly gets disabled instead. Huge loss in image quality, but it is needed to match OLED which keeps pretty much the same image quality in game mode because of self emitting pixels; No need for backlight control. This also means horrible HDR gaming experience on LCD, because HDR needs to ramp up brighness and without the dimming zones, it will look horrible in dark scenes, revealing backlight bleed like crazy, on par with edge lit LCDs.
Is there a difference in these two panels regarding lifespan and burn in? I find both panels equally impressive so my choice would come down to if either had a significant difference in how they looked after two years of use or so.
I'd expect the LCD panel to last longer(Samsung QN90B) but I doubt either would be worn out in 2 years. You don't have to worry about burn in at all on the QN90B.

BTW I own the LG C2 42 inch, QN700B, QN90A, Samsung Odyssey G9 & 2x Samsung Odyssey G7 32". The HDR gaming experience from the C2 is unrivalled - some games I've replayed using the C2 is like going from a budget GPU to the very best, that's the difference in visual experience the C2 has over something like the G7. However, as a competitive panel the G7 has it licked whereas the QN700B & QN90A have a sweet-spot as all-rounders, both great at productivity and HDR gaming. However, the very best for absolutely everything when you factor price then the QN90A wins (they can be found for less than £600). And when I say everything, remember, they're also top-tier TVs with good sound, great mini LED tech, upto 144hz and the only none OLED to come close to OLED.
@@inky5168 there's nothing to suggest that the OLED would have image retention, especially if you use it smartly. EG I would have the task bar auto hiding and have a wallpaper engine to change the wall paper. Even if you didn't do that image burn in shouldn't be a massive concern as the C1 went a ways to fixing that and the C2 goes further
@@inky5168 I have 2 LG OLEDs, the 55" in the living room and the 48" as my primary computer display. I'm not at all worried about burn-in, I don't spend long periods working in a single app/window. If I were to do it all again though, I'd still get an OLED for the living room (I mostly watch in the evenings in a low/no light environment). I think I'd switch the computer display to QLED though, for one reason and one reason only - the auto-dimming. It's only a minor inconvenience (just displaying my desktop briefly automatically removes it again), but you have to buy the service engineer remote control to fix it completely 😞

Strengths and weakness comparison should include bright room viewing. My OLED is now in my bedroom and my QN90B is in my living room because of just that. Your video is entirely in a very dark area which omits a very important part of viewing.
I agree the intent was to do a bright room side by side as well but I can’t make my room that bright, next year I have some ideas for this.

I was also looking for the same set up, 70+ oled in the room and 80+ mini led in the living room. Another reason for this is I want to get a big enough screen for both places. For the 70 inch range OLED has 77 inch which is 2 inch bigger than mini LED's 75, and for the 80+ range, mini led is usually 86 inch, where OLED is 83.

Waiting for the qd oleds. It would be great if they are the best of both combined. Otherwise, this comparison makes it hard to choose. Obviously more detail on the dimmer oled and too bright sometimes, and I don't like missing stars. Great comprarison video as usual!
The question I have about these side-by-side OLED vs. Neo Qled comparisons is they don't match at all what I see with my own eyes when I go into Best Buy, like I did today, and compared a QN90A with an LG C1 Oled. In your video, the brightness of both TVs looks about the same. In real life though, it's not even close. The OLED appears much more dark/drab compared to the QN90a. It's a huge difference when you see them in person. Anyway, I would recommend comparing the OLED and Neo QLEDs in person before choosing between them. Based on this video, I would have bought a C2, but based on what I have seen in person, I would have gone with a Neo QLED. Granted, Best Buy is a bright environment, but even with that the difference in brightness is very noticeable IMO.

When it comes between these two it legitimately depends on personal preference and the environment you're putting them in. You can't lose with either of these panels.
Definitely prefer the left king as the QN90 has a beaming effect on brighter subjects which I find unnatural. In other words, the OLED just seems much more naturally pleasing.

I went with the QN90B because I have my tv on for many hours a day either on UA-cam or Twitch. Not having to worry about burn in is a blessing. Blooming and blacks are a lot better than my previous x900h. Though blacks and contrast aren’t as good as an OLED, I’m overall happy with this purchase. 9/10 for me.

That's what warranties are for. Got my LG C2 from Costco and got 6 years of warranty for $120.

With that said, my local BestBuy put up a S95B for a few months, granted its been running 247, but it's already got the Samsung Logo that pops up maybe once an hour for 10 seconds at a time burnt in already. Im glad I got the Qn90B because I leave my tv on for most of the day so I don't have to worry about it.

I prefer the vibrant colours of Neo QLED, just feels move "alive" , vibrant, and immersive. Absolutely love HDR movies and content.
That's because the colors ARE better. Color volume, spectral composition, and color gamut are all better on the QLED. And it's easy to see in person. My CX looks dull and lifeless next to my Pioneer Kuro (Pro-101FD) and QN90B.

But OLED stills the most perfect and natural TV, there are a lot LCD's problems that OLED doesn't have, blooming, ghosting, black smearing, higher response time. But OLED has probability to burn-in unfortunately. The next TV I buy will be OLED cause for gaming these LCDs problems that I mentioned really bother.
I have yet to see a side by side comparison this well done. However, I have not seen a QLED v OLED video where the QLED doesn’t look better with the brightness and vibrancy making the OLED look dull. However, in real life I am very happy with the overall look, brightness, and infinite contrast of my A80j without the DSE and blooming of Qleds. You’re not missing out. I had an LG C9 for 3 years, and I sold it and am trying out the Sony X95J. Now, the QN90a/QN90b gets brighter than my Sony, but I find myself actually turning down the brightness. I would only need the extra brightness if my room was soaked in sunlight.
What I do notice though, is the blooming and how the screen looks a bit dirty, whereas OLED always looked clean. My problems with OLED were 24p stutter and the near black crush. But you don’t have that latter problem with your A80j 😛
P.S. That’s not to say I didn’t wish for more brightness at times on the OLED. HDR brightness was great, but SDR would come up a little short at times.
We're in the HDR era, and this is oleds downfall.
Properly engineered mini led can make oleds redundant, and in future, micro led will make all but small led redundant.

Bought my first oled tv and went with the LG C2. I had to see this and a mini led side by side in the store and just the contrast and inky blacks looked better to me. I have a dark room so the oled is beautiful overall. I am excited with the competition in the tv market and cant wait to see how much higher they can go!
Dont worry about this its obvious been turned down a bit. The C2. Ive heard nothing but good about the C24LA plus it's won awards for 2022.

I do think the OLED looks better overall and is more accurate, and I do hate the dirty screen effect many LEDs have, BUT the 75" QN90B is $1800 and the 77" LG C2 is $1000 more at $2800. The difference of $1000 is really substantial for these two TVs that are fairly close. Plus I keep my TVs for like a decade, and keeping that in mind I worry about burn-in issues down the road with OLED panels.

As a Korean, I am proud that Samsung and LG are the best TVs in the world.
Something to note with the QN90B (or QN90A) is that you can tweak the settings to make it look more like it is copying an OLED. If you set it too dark you start losing detail in certain scenes but it is impressive how close it can get. I love my QN90A for a room with a lot of light coming in.

@Marius Y I don't mess with the shadows. I make sure contrast enhancer is off, movie mode, and lower the brightness to about 20 if you are in a dark room.
It will never look like OLED. It's always going to sacrifice something to try and replicate it.

I love how the qn90b looks
I have the Samsung Q90B which I bought last week and have to say for gaming it’s brilliant. I have no issues with it.
I think some of the highlight push on QN90B may also appear more severe due to the booming when those highlights are against a dark backdrop. This was especially noticeable in the sunset images where the QN loses a lot of detail in favor of a bright blob on the screen.

I bought 77" A80J Oled not knowing that my very bright room will make it impossible to watch TV during daytime glare/reflection problem, so Costco TV expert told me to return/replaced with 85" QN85A. Big difference, the quality of neoQled is almost the same as the Oled at night. At night all light out, OLED is the winner, but daytime neo Qled won handily. All my family member voted to keep the neo Qled, both on day and night watching TV (with side by side comparison). A80J was returned after 1 week of side by side comparison on regular TV program... I think neoQled is far better on watching regular TV program, even on 4K TV program I prefer Qled, also 300 bucks cheaper/8"bigger Qled.

That's an amazing comparison right there. Lots of people don't realize that overall QLED wins and this just confirms that, OLED say gets 100% score at night and 50% during the day on semi to bright room but QLED gets 80% at night and 95% during the day (80+95=175 over OLED which is about 150%) so overall QLED will win over OLED in a mixed room but in the dark room or basement with no window OLED wins.
For for most people who need a good Tv for their family room which most likley is a mixed (semi bright, dark at night and semi bright or bright during the day) room QLED wins. I experienced the same situation too however I love Song OLED because of their colours, Google Tv (apps get updated constantly), layout of the OS and menus, only if Samsung can get Google Tv then in my opinion their would sell much more Tv.
@@ownerr8441 Yes, this is exactly what happen in my situation, qled is close enough to Oled at night with lights out, but the difference is I can see the image now during daytime. While before it give me a headache just to watch my oled 77" a80j, all I can see is reflection and glare.
This was a great analysis and nice seeing both of these TV's side by side as they're the two TV's I'm currently debating. I have to say that for my eyes, I think I prefer the QLED throughout most of this video. I think I just like a brighter screen and seeing things pop a bit more. I definitely can see more detail in some of the darker scenes with the OLED though. I kind of think it really depends on your situation, the room the TV will be in and what your eyes like most. I can say too that I owned a Panny Plasma for 5 or 6 years before replacing it with a Samsung LED and always felt like the Samsung blew away the Panny. So I do think I just prefer that brighter, more dynamic picture.
I have a feeling that watching video taken of both screens on a computer monitor is going to favor the strengths of the QLED more, since it can brighter which will be picked up on camera and somewhat evident in the video. You really can't see the strengths of an OLED by watching recorded video of it on any other type of screen. Also keep in mind if the screens are side by side (like in this video) the camera is probably adjusting its exposure based on the brightest light in the shot, which is probably going to make the OLED image look a little "underexposed", which is not how it would look in person.
I will say this, Dont judge by this here. Go and see both tvs Live and whatever your eyes like get that. I thot the same thing when I saw reviews ohh boi that qled looks better.... Once I saw the OLED in live I change my mind really quick :) There is a clear diffrence between both. To my eyes the OLED produces much more accurate colors. So I have 3 OLEDs home.
My feelings exactly, and I've been strongly leaning towards an OLED. HOWEVER, I'm viewing this video on a 7 year old 1080p computer monitor. I love the dark/black and depth of field I see on a real OLED unit compared to the brighter, more vivid QLED screens. But if a QLED can get tweaked downward to closely mimic the "blackness" achieved with OLED, well, there's a pretty big price difference between the two.

Probably the first comparison I've seen where the LCD isn't overexposed or the OLED underexposed, very well done! Well, you can't really beat OLED, that's no surprise. The QN90B does well enough though, and burn in is a huge concern for me on a TV so expensive, so I'm leaning Samsung's side. I'll probably get the QN85B though, hope to see comparisons as this featuring it soon.
OLED black crush is also a thing. You lose more detail in near black scenes with OLED.
@@sundarchip think it depends on the OLED tbh. I had a C1 which was really bad with black crush, and the A80J I have now is way better, shows a lot more detail in shadows and darkness and doesn’t just crush it
@@jackdubs25 Actually if you get your C1 calibrated you can clean up the black crush quite a bit. LG is terrible with out of the box calibration, Sony actually tries to calibrate their tv's before shipping them out and is one of the best for out of box calibration.
LG has gotten so good at making panels, burn-in isn’t even an issue anymore. Even when people really freaked out about it, it still took months of max brightness screen on time 24/7 to cause any damage to the pixels. Countless people have tested it over the years, and burn-in has never been an issue if you know how to use a TV.

Personally I think the Oled looks a bit better due to the contrast and dark scenes, but even last years 83” C1 is still very expensive at $4500+ while the 85” QN90A only cost $3000.
With that $1500 saving you can buy an Oled for your Bedroom which is exactly what I did a little over a year ago.
Samsung Qled 75” for the living room and an LG Oled 65” for the bedroom.

Because I own a CX, owned a C2 and then bought a QN90B and I can say that the black levels look nearly indistinguishable, but the QN90B gets a lot brighter. The OLEDs look constrained and dull in comparison. Colors also look so much more appealing on the QN90B. They look like my plasmas and CRTs, which is what I was looking for, since those have always been the best in terms of color reproduction.

You illustrate each TV's strengths and weaknesses very well. Great job! An important question: were these TVs calibrated or even adjusted at all, or are these "out of the box" in filmmaker or standard mode?
To me, the OLED generally shows better depth, detail and richness. The LED is indeed brighter and has more "pop" than the OLED in some daylight outdoor scenes and the daylight racing game clips you showed. And also, as you said, in a number of clips the difference between the two is hard to discern.
I'm not a gamer and primarily watch movies (but not comic book or superhero genres) and am an accuracy and filmmakers intent type of guy. Watching a good film in a dimly lit or dark room can really be an enjoyable.experience. I've never had an OLED TV and haven't bought a new TV in years. Been living with a 46" top of the line 1080p Samsung from 2009 (with fluorescent tube backlight!) which still runs perfectly. I think it's time to upgrade to a 65" 4K and I'm leaning toward the Sony A90K, A80K, or A80J. Thanks again for this very helpful video.

I do think my Pioneer Pro-101FD looks better than my QN90B, but I also think both of them look much better than my LG CX. Motion, colors and brightness are all weak on the OLED.
I pre-ordered the Samsung 55" Class S95B OLED 4K Smart TV (2022) directly from Samsung. Samsung hasn't released these televisions to Best Buy and other retailers. I currently own a Samsung 2018 49 inch NU8000 Premium 4K UHD and a 2020 Samsung 32 inch 4K QLED televisions. The picture quality on both my Samsung televisions are fantastic. Let's face it, Samsung produce some of the best televisions along with Sony and LG. I will be using my Samsung S95B OLED to only watch cable Premium channels, sports channels, Netflix, and Amazon Prime movies. I usually look at the screen qualities in Best Buy, however, since Samsung hasn't released the S95B OLED to retailers, I haven't seen this Samsung OLED television in person.

I have just switched out from a Samsung Series 9 Qled to an LG Oled CS for my pc. I have been using Qled for years now and all I can say is that the "ultra brights of a Qled" are nice at first but you quickly turn that down as it really isn't great for your eyes, it starts giving you serious eye straight and fatigue along with headaches. Switching to the Oled has been incredible and make no mistake it is bright! I mean its sitting on your desk about half a meter from your face (I have the 55") it's far too bright so I have turned the brightness down to 65% and it really is phenomenal as a pc screen. The true blacks and vivid colours you get because of those true blacks bring on an incredibly high contrast ratio. The colours seem more true to life and the lack of bloom when playing games at night or working is such a welcomed difference!
I don't think I could go back to an LCD again after this. I did get the blacks on my Qled pretty damn close to an Oled but at the end of the day it's still LCD and Oled just looks allot better. The entire experience as a whole has been great and this is after several Qleds over several years of daily use as a professional 3d animator working on Film and games.

@@ryancasha7201 brightness man. That hdr brightness. It just can't be overlooked. And is the main reason why I prefer gaming on the qled. Grant you like Gio Torres said, some scenes look better on the oled and vice versa but in general the better all rounder is definitely the qled imo. That's my preference though and many people find OLEDs to be bright enough but for me once youve experienced the brightness of a flagship qled, going OLED definitely takes some adapting.
But people will say qled has blooming. Yes it does have slight blooming if you're really looking for it. You've had a q80t so you know that blooming is quite overblown.
If you have the dough definitely look into the new qd OLED s95b from Samsung. It's an OLED with a brighter image. They're quite expensive so if that's too much I'd definitely look into the qn90b. C2 if you don't mind the lower brightness while having superior contrast and black levels. Don't worry about burn in though I use mine as a PC monitor and nothing whatsoever with full brightness!
Maybe I am crazy but I consistently find there are more details on the OLED from these comparisons - maybe the cameras used to film this are blowing out details too much on the QLED but I find there is more detail in the image always on the OLED.

Its pretty reasonable since oled have perfect black level detail and contrast. And this is a dark scene which work perfectly on oled's favor
Great comparsion. I have switched to Oled TV recently. The main difference to me is that the characters are much more realistic in dolby vision movies because of excellent black level.
QLED Tv is good but it cannot give you that realistic feeling.
For me what is an important distinction here is what the HDR specs actually are and what HDR is supposed to be. It’s supposed to be about specular. About the highlights. Traditional video is 0-100 nits of brightness. Anything in that range is easy but eventually specular hits that ceiling of 100 nits and gets cut off or dulled. Metal just never looked real like it does in real life.
HDR now can increase that to 0-10,000 nits. That means there is so much more range above the 100 nits we could do before. HDR is all about the brightness.
OLED is great but it’s great for SDR as well since it handles that 0-100 range very well. It’s how it handles everything in the 0-25 nit range that really makes it shine. Which benefits SDR just as much as it benefits HDR. Those dark nighttime scenes. Which you don’t even really need HDR for. A lot of the value range content that looks great on OLED will in fact be in the 0-100 nit range and not technically even be HDR.
The issue I have with OLED is it at best handles up to 250 nits. In small amounts it might be able to do 800-1000 nits but that exponentially tapers off the more of the screen needs to be bright. It’s rather inconsistent because of this. One shot might be 800 nits and the next 250 nits depending on the percentage of the screen that needs to be bright. That’s why I think OLED is a great general TV but not a great HDR TV.
I’m all about sustained performance and in the HDR pro market we tend to aim for a sustained 1000 nits right now as a standard. A lot of professional color grading HDR displays will in fact support a sustained 100% 1000 nits. The reason why the Apple XDR displays have 1600 nits is to have enough headroom to support sustained 1000 nits. It’s only when you can get to this at least 1000 sustained nits that you truly have a HDR experience.
When some consumers feel like HDR is a scam it’s because unfortunately many “HDR” TVs are lucky to ever go past 250 nits sustained. That’s not really enough to ever be considered a decent HDR experience. Peak nits can help in some cases but reducing the specular we see to almost SDR levels to me isn’t HDR. Even when I’m grading HDR content if I tone map and limit to 250 nits it just doesn’t look all that great. It’s just not enough extra there to make HDR really show off what it’s truly capable of.
The blooming does suck and it’s an unfortunate side effect of the technology choices we have at this time. At least it’s true HDR however. I have two Apple XDR displays and a sustained 1000 nits is amazing. I have a Samsung QLED and it gets very close to a sustained 1000 nits. I really want to love OLED but the sustained brightness frankly sucks and in my opinion really doesn’t fit the definition of HDR very well. If I mostly watched SDR content then OLED is absolutely the way to go but to me it’s just not a HDR display. I think this is why OLED is really popular with consumers. A lot of the content out there is SDR and in that situation OLED is about as good as it gets. For HDR it’s still better than what SDR could ever be even at 250 nits. It’s just not really true HDR and if the desire is to truly enjoy what HDR really has to offer than OLED is not the best choice.
Having seen true HDR it’s really a game changer and 1000x more important than 8k or 3D could ever be.
Someday we will have micro LED where essentially every dimming zone is a pixel. Right now QLED local dimming zones suck. The cheap LED TVs either have no dimming zones or something ridiculous where the screen is split into large chunks to light up at a time. That’s what causes the blooming. A 100x100 pixel region lit up at a time when a str may only be 1 pixel in size. The more local dimming zones a TV has the better it will get which will shrink the blooming. It will never be gone however until we get to micro LED.
OLED may get brighter but it still really struggles with sustained performance. Both QLED and OLED are compromises right now. A pick your poison situation or pick the lesser of two evils. I don’t think either will ever be perfect. We need to get to the point where micro LED is affordable. Until that point we pick from two compromised solutions. At this time since I love true HDR I choose QLED and not OLED. OLED is a darn near perfect SDR TV but it’s not really HDR.

They are so close this year. For me it's gonna come down to price difference in the size that I'm after. The LG oled's in Australia are obscenely priced at RRP for the larger sizes.

I chose the qn90b. Couldn't be happier. Some scenes I simply cannot see the details in the background with the oled because it is simply so dark. I value bright vibrant coolours and no screen burn over Contrast and viewing angles

That Qn90b looks so alive. It really and truly brings life to the image. If what the movie makers intended for the audience to see looks closer to the C2 then I definitely don't want it. Just looks to lifeless. Definitely excited about purchasing the Qn90b this year during the holiday sales.
@Bzake why would I "just crank the colors?" The LG wasn't meant to just "crank the colors." Samsung was created to have those punchy colors that are eye candy to the average consumer. Now with their processing this year, it seems as if they've gotten the little things right.

I think where the Neo Qled really shines is when you are watching tv in a not completely pitch black dark room. I have 4m high south facing windows in my living room so watching tv in the daytime on an oled panel would just really not work. Hence why I got the QN800A
For me Mini LED is the clear winner over OLED, at least in my use case, since I'll be using it as PC monitor. I won't have to worry about burn-in at all for many years to come.
thats cool but for me its the other way around, I both tvs and oled wins by far, qled is still lcd and has blooming when looking at dark scenes, it looks better in store but once you have it in your room you can notice its fault more easily, the only thing bad about oled is that it WILL have burn in eventually no matter how well you take care of it
The C2 as a PC monitor is by far better. 1ms, g-sync and freesync, as you will be close to the TV, the quality of the OLED is sensational. As for the burning in the new models, there is already enough technology to prevent this from happening, the risk would be for something static for many, many hours.
@@SER6I0 I agree, you're absolutely right, but it was just my personal decision to not have to deal with the risk of burn in, since organic LEDs will deteriorate by nature no matter what over time. I need something that will last for a really long time since it's a big investment for me!

No but you will have to worry about this, FROM DAY ONE; Backlight bleed, halo effect, dirty screen effect, corner glow, bad uniformity, smearing, bad viewing angles, should I go on? If you are using a LCD TV with Mini LED backlight for gaming, you are making a huge mistake too, because the backlighting control will pretty much get disabled in gaming mode, or you would see 200-300 ms input lag. This is the reason why LCDs with FALD and Mini LED backlighting loses ALOT image quality in gaming mode; It's pretty much working as an edge lit LED panel.
For those who like to use a large display as a computer monitor: the 50" QN90B can do 4K @ 144 hz. I was bummed to find out the 55" and up will only do 120 hz.
43 inch can do 144hz too if you want an even smaller size for a sharper picture.

I prefer the C2. I can close the blinds if watching in daytime. We got use to the C1 and it's beside a double width window. It is dimmer than the LED TV we replaced. At night the HDR is sometimes too bright and I do notice the automatic brightness limiter.
I would still be perfectly fine with the QN90B. When they are not side by side each TV looks amazing, which is how it will be in your home. The main reason I went with the OLED was because I'm a gamer and I liked that the C1 has 4 X HDMI 2.1 ports, which is now something the QN90B has.
I think Micro LED will eventually be the best, but it won't be a home run. The smaller the panel, the smaller the pixels, and the smaller the pixels, the smaller the peak brightness. At a similar size, I feel Micro LED and OLED will have a similar level of brightness.

I couldn’t care less. Brightness really doesn’t matter much. As long as it’s bright enough to produce a pure white, it doesn’t matter whether it’s 800nit max, or 8000nit max.

Great comparison. There is a clarity and sharpness of image with the contrast the OLED reaches the QN90B can't match. That still pleases my eye more than pure brightness. I think I will be going the G2 or be checking out the Sony OLED's/QD-OLED.

This year Samsung display created their own OLED display QD-OLED (qd-oled offers do much more improvements than lg oled e.g - better color reproduction, brighter panles etc) which Sony and Samusng will use in their this year's models.

We do our TV watching in a rather dark room so viewing dark scenes has always been a challenge. With the OLED eliminating the flash-lighting (think that's what it's called), that's a game changer. But the Q-Symphony is the X-factor that keeps me coming back to the QN90B. To have the TV audio in sync with the sound bar (which I'm also researching) looks like a awesome feature.
I think we're in the same situation. I wanted an OLED TV, but Samsung doesn't offer that option in Brazil. However, I have a great Samsung soundbar and I'd like to use the sync feature. I'm still between the C2 and the QN90B.
I have the oled and watching TV became an amazing adventure every time.
But when you go to the shop and see this two side by side you notice how much the qled is far brighter but, when you focus on the oled your eyes adjust to the low brightens and the watching experience is above amazing!

I think what's clinching the QN90B for me is Q Symphony. The slightly saturated picture quality, and blooming I really won't notice, is a fair trade for superior sound quality
pair it to a samsung dolby atmos sounbar like q990b, its astounding! I've listened to it, and it's a massive USP over a tv with no q symphony.

I love how vivid the mini led qled is. It pops and the colors are so vivid. It also has amazing black levels that are almost on par with the oled. Samsungs new qd oled is the best of both worlds. Qled mixed with oled it’s perfect
I find the qn90a performs better than oled on dark games vs the C1. Not sure about the C2 and 90b. But I’m very dark games you can kinda mess with the settings on the Samsung to be able to see details in the dark very good, vs it being too dark to function on the oled without needing to equip a flashlight and getting sniped out by other players due to you running a light in game.
you can adjust the dark and light areas in game optimizer on the LG as well.

I think when you do a side by side comparison, the brighter panel is always going to look instinctively better and pop more. However, when you see the darker tv in person, your pupils quickly adjust and then it becomes the same brightness. At that point it boils down to details, which the oled clearly wins in. There were some scenes were he said that 'the qled clearly looks better here', which I agreed with the first time I watched the video, but on the second time I actually thought the oled was better. This is because I looked into fine details and that there were areas that highlights and brightness had completely washed out details into white blotches. Game icons were no longer legible and object inside flames and lights were no visible in the whiteness. Also when I saw the sword with more saturated color highlight, I have to wonder if that color was really the film's intent or if the qled is just oversaturating the color. So do you want a tv that is more detailed and accurate (oled) or do you want a tv that tries its hardest to hit your dopamine receptors with bright lights and oversaturated colors? Theres probably a way to oversaturate your oled if you really want.
I don't believe the samsung oversaturates colour. I'm pretty sure the camera just lacks the dynamic range to actually capture the picture.

Thanks for the video. It certainly is enlightening seeing the two side-by-side. History dictates that the OLED won't last as long, especially without eventual permanent image retention. According to YT techies the CX & C1 both suffered burn-in when being used extensively as a PC monitor. Also, the reviews have said the Samsung can manage 144hz vs 120hz. The QN90B also has better screen reflection handling and text clarity is perfect vs the C2 OLED due to how the sub sampling is handled. However, off angle viewing will always be better with OLED & the new 'QOLED'.
As a long term gaming or PC display the QLED is where the smart money lies. But as a typical TV/movie magnet then I'd go with the LG/OLED.
I've been pulling my hair out over the two for a while now. I purchased a Samsung Odyssey G9 over the LG CX due to image retention concerns. I know things have gotten better since the CX but I'd be using the panel as a an editing display - retention is likely when the same window boxes are open 12+ hours a day. I like to game occasionally. If I wasn't an editor I'd more than likely go for the OLED.

The main problem on the QN90B is that the image is seem to be not natural when you compared it to the C2 or the C1, the light is bluring and the 3D effect is just amazing on the LG OLED !

I think I watched an older video where you acknowledged you don't calibrate your TVs and just use the presets. That LG can certainly look a whole lot better than this. I agree, looking at it as is the Samsung is better. But once dialed in that LG can be an amazing looking TV and far better than we are seeing here.
I don't know when the change happened but it seems that most people nowadays don't get their TVs calibrated and instead opt for the presets. I remember when I was younger and everyone who bought this level of TV was going that extra mile to get them calibrated or doing it themselves. Seriously people, it's not that hard and you don't need to spend a fortune to do it. Some test patterns and a blue filter will allow you to dial in your TV a heck of a lot better than any preset can.
Just received a C2 over the weekend. The C2 is not up to par with the Gen 5 processor showing no improvement - LG just leaves much to be desired concenning image sharpness. The image it produces is also just as dark as the C1 and in some cases the C2 seems darker. This might be a good gaming TV but its not good movie watching!
It's probably more to do with the medium of the content you're watching rather than the TV itself.

I've heard the new OLED tvs coming out this year are going to be substantially brighter than the 2022 models. Probably going to wait until this time next year to purchase one of those models when they start to get discounted. Either way you look at it it's exciting with the technologies being developed for the home viewing segment. We've come a long way since CRTs were the best thing available!

Nothing, absolutely nothing "pulls" me out of a movie more than blooming. Every single time I see blooming on my Q80T I'm reminded that I have an Lcd screen.
True blacks is a game changer to me. I cannot think of my self without an OLED especially if you live in a dark room.

Despite the high contrast with a black background, an exaggerated glow can be seen on the fireworks. In terms of image quality and colors they seem quite similar to me. Although I have noticed that the Samsung tends to saturate the colors more in some situations. The biggest difference is the brightness in favor of the samsung but in general I would buy the OLED.
Its because he shot the scence on side view... if you view the tv from the front, the scene is pretty nice!.
I have a feeling that the QN90B is bright indeed. However, that brightness takes away from real colors. For example, in the king comparison, the QN90B makes the gold look fake. LG OLED has darker images but the peak brightness for HDR content more than suffices. Essentially, the LG is not for a bright room setting. But I mean BRIGHT! I have the C2, and the c2 is so detailed that brightness is not a factor. Very well pleased and spoiled with this new experience.
I bought an 2020 LG CX to replace a ten-year-old Sharp Aquos HD LED (the one that had the yellow LEDs, along with RBG). From day one, I was disappointed in the vibrancy of the OLED. The Sharp picture was much brighter and the colors popped. I liken it to the difference between flat paint and glossy paint. Except for the 4k component of the LG, I really thought the Sharp looked better.
After two years, just a couple of weeks ago, the LG CX developed a thin black vertical line just right of center. Because I had purchased an insurance plan, after several pics and videos of the TV sent to the insurance company, I was approved for a replacement. I was able to choose my own replacement, as long as it was comparable to the LG. I chose the QN90B. I haven't received it yet, but am really looking forward to having a much brighter, more vibrant picture. We shall see.
What were your thoughts on the Qn90b? & Did you still keep it?
I still have the QLED QN90B. I love it. The colors definitely do pop. It's much brighter than the OLED.
I also don't notice blooming being much different on the QLED vs. the OLED. I use to see blooming on the OLED when there were white letters on a black background.
But now I'm not thinking about or worrying about burn-in or the LEDs degrading over time.
The other big difference between the two TVs is the sound. It is many times better on the Samsung. While I HAD to use a sound bar on the LG, and turn on closed captioning, just to be able to hear the dialog, I do neither with the Samsung. The voices are clear, the bass is great, the overall sound is just natural. I don't think about that either, like I always did with the LG.
When I'm in the market for another TV, unless some new tech comes out, I'd definitely get a QLED.
Good comparison but OLED had the brighter biased lighting behind it to give it an edge for better contrast.both TV's should've been compared with no biased lighting to get a better assessment on dark room performance
Ironically with good rear lighting the black levels of LCD perceptually clean up really well, a high end LCD panel can get very close to OLED quality.
"Blooming" is not limited to LCD, it's also a totally natural effect of your eyes and you're never going to see perfectly clean borders on bright highlights (just to confirm I'm not crazy every once in a while I closely inspect my LG C1 to confirm that the panel is in fact not blooming and it is just my eyes).
I heard bias lighting doesn't do anything to improve contrast on oleds as it has an infinite contrast ratio so I'm not sure if it helped the oled in this comparison.
I own q91a it has VA panel instead of IPS (in Europe). And blooming in hard scenes is noticeable, I mean like this fireworks you showed. But in all other scenes it is just awesome in terms of darkness. But to be sure, qled is far way behind oleds, but it does its job very well in dark scenes, especially this va panel. In other scenes I would pick qled always - brightness and HDR is mind blowing
I own a QN90B and an LG CX OLED and to me, in my dim room, the difference between the QLED and the OLED in black levels is minimal. What is very noticeable to me are the much better colors on the QLED, along with the superior motion and much higher brightness. The better viewing angles are the one thing I like about the OLED. Otherwise the QLED looks a lot better to me. It doesn't have the problem with black crush and making things look too dark. At least not to nearly the same degree

Never has led tvs been able to look as deep and rich next to an oled. Watch comparisons from 3 to 4 years ago and oked always and I mean always looked so much deeper and rich while led had bright saturated colors. Now it seems it can do everything! Very nice! Samsung really looks good with there white balance this year on the 90b also. Now I love what I've seen with the Samsung in its movie modes but not so much in its game mode. But you know what game mode on most tvs isn't as good so I'm sure buyers could deal with that and adjust settings to there liking lol see ehere rhe sony a90j comes in handy is in that sword scene the a90j I'd so intense in those type of scenes from how they boost it. The yellows and orbages cone through so so much better then lg oled tvs do. The lg processor doesn't seem to shine things up like Samsung and sony does. Like the blue cape again you can see the brightness on sony oled and the shine on the cape like Samsung. So I think that comes down to processing and algorithms on how the tvs read scenes not just brightness lol.
I would rather put up with DSE that I probably won't notice 99% of the time than a burnt in ESPN and Pornhub logo in the corner of the screen.

I researched this alot. Brought home an oled tv, after two days, took it back and got the neo qled. Much happier. Oled is strictly for movie watching in my opinion.

The LG OLED gives a cleaner, more natural image that is more 'cinematic'. With the kings comparison, the Samsung showed more saturation on the king making his skin-tone redder and thus not as realistic.
Also the oled is bette then the qled but with mini led qled it’s so good that the difference is very minor, plus the brightness is so much better and there’s no burn in risk at all. So I’d go with that.
I prefer the oled but to incredible displays , i seen the qd oled tv in person and qd oled monitor its incredible , and so I'm looking forward to sony and Samsung 's final cut of the Qd 0led.
Today I Bought C2 55 Inches Oled. For Clarity It Nowhere Near To The Latest Neo QLED. I Watched Same Content Side By Side. The Neo Qled Lacks Clarity, Dynamic Range and Also Depth.

Amazing how OLED and LED trade blows like they do currently. LED wins with brightness/highlights, and OLED wins at pure black/contrast. Dirty screen can be a downside of LED, but OLED still has image retention/burn-in issues. Do you want your DSE now with and LED, or later on an OLED, especially where gaming is concerned?
Samsung qn90 has oversatured colors.

OLED does not have burnin issues at all. I have 3 in my house and zero burnin, at peak brightness. B9, C9 and G1. They have 1000+ hours of PC/Console usage on top of 2000+ hours of movies and series, and just static flow tv. Burn in has not really been an issue since 2018/2019 panels and there is built in safety in software to counter it too.

They don't trade blows at all, when you see them in person side by side. LCD is still garbage for dark room viewing and has tons of issues; Halo effect, backlight bleed, corner glow, smearing, dirty screen effect and I could go on. There is a reason for even Samsung Display abandons LCD now. They will focus on QD-OLED and AMOLED going forward, not LCD. LCD will only be used in their lower tier TVs and they will buy panels from 3rd party from now on, since Samsung Display don't make them anymore. Another huge issue with LCD, even the most expensive ones, is that they loose so much image quality in gaming mode, because the backlight (FALD or Mini LED backlight) can't be controlled fast enough to have acceptable input lag, so it mostly gets disabled instead. Huge loss in image quality, but it is needed to match OLED which keeps pretty much the same image quality in game mode because of self emitting pixels; No need for backlight control. This also means horrible HDR gaming experience on LCD, because HDR needs to ramp up brighness and without the dimming zones, it will look horrible in dark scenes, revealing backlight bleed like crazy, on par with edge lit LCDs.
Is there a difference in these two panels regarding lifespan and burn in? I find both panels equally impressive so my choice would come down to if either had a significant difference in how they looked after two years of use or so.
I'd expect the LCD panel to last longer(Samsung QN90B) but I doubt either would be worn out in 2 years. You don't have to worry about burn in at all on the QN90B.

The HDR gaming experience from the C2 is unrivalled - some games I've replayed using the C2 is like going from a budget GPU to the very best, that's the difference in visual experience the C2 has over something like the G7. However, as a competitive panel the G7 has it licked whereas the QN700B & QN90A have a sweet-spot as all-rounders, both great at productivity and HDR gaming. However, the very best for absolutely everything when you factor price then the QN90A wins (they can be found for less than £600). And when I say everything, remember, they're also top-tier TVs with good sound, great mini LED tech, upto 144hz and the only none OLED to come close to OLED.
@@inky5168 there's nothing to suggest that the OLED would have image retention, especially if you use it smartly. EG I would have the task bar auto hiding and have a wallpaper engine to change the wall paper. Even if you didn't do that image burn in shouldn't be a massive concern as the C1 went a ways to fixing that and the C2 goes further
@@inky5168 I have 2 LG OLEDs, the 55" in the living room and the 48" as my primary computer display. I'm not at all worried about burn-in, I don't spend long periods working in a single app/window. If I were to do it all again though, I'd still get an OLED for the living room (I mostly watch in the evenings in a low/no light environment). I think I'd switch the computer display to QLED though, for one reason and one reason only - the auto-dimming. It's only a minor inconvenience (just displaying my desktop briefly automatically removes it again), but you have to buy the service engineer remote control to fix it completely 😞
yes if you want no burn in buy the QLED, with the OLED you might get burn in in 5 months, 2 years or in 5 years but you will get it eventually
