I think it was those scissor lifts that got ya saddled with this job. People see those and go, "I'll give Ivan a call! He obviously will work on anything!"
@@mikeholt3545 probably got lucky, the fridge is the only interconnected "ground loop" item I can think of, with exception of maybe the heater, although those are often 12v(blower) and propane heat only. the ground loop on the fridge was at the -12v wire harness tied to batteries and AC power cord ground > breaker panel (has heavy gauge wire bonding to chassis > through backwards wired generator, back to front solenoid. that shop is lucky they didn't burn the whole thing and the shop down
There is no money in reparing. The money is selling new motorhomes.thats why shops do not have electrical techs. Cause there rare and hard to find. And everyshop wants all mechanics to be able to do everything to save money. As you probably know ,mechanics and electrical/ electrical techs are worlds apart.
This was kinda heart warming man. I miss fixing things up for my folks since they passed on. Its strange what ya miss great work Ivan i hope Tom and his wife get some more miles n smiles outta her this summer.
My Dad had a brand new class C on a Toyota chassis. It came from the factory with bad heads and was recalled with around 200 miles in it. The dealer backed it into a building, claimed they could fix it. Pointed out to Dad it would void the warranty, non authorized repair. Toyota dealer was pissed. When they finally got it back, they started on trip. A semi literally drove up their ass and crushed the rear. They traded it in since it had a Black cloud over it. My best friend and I sealed the back until the dealer could work in it. The impact almost ruptured the LP gas tank.
Ivan, I noticed that camper didn't have any JLG leveling Jacks. In the famous words of Eric O " "There's your problem Lady" "And remember if Ivan can do it. You can do it". Oops! That Eric's line😅
Almost all RV generators require the start button be held until they are actually running - it serves as an oil pressure bypass in that mode since they will normally shut down if the pressure drops down too low. Huge kudos to you for all the troubleshooting and work that you've done for them!
Ivan, awesome ending!! Great video. You nailed all the issues with it. Tom and his wife are pretty tickled pink having their motorhome all fixed!!! Great job! Many many thumbs up!!

I'm a radio tech by trade, but you'd be surprised at how many sideline things I end up having to interact with doing this job.... from jail cell door actuation, access control systems, security cameras, jail talkback monitors, all of the electronic gadgets in a new police cruiser (too many to list!) plus everything you'd find at a modern cell tower site - fiber, -48v DC plant, rectifier banks, DC-DC converters/ DC-AC Inverters, low voltage controls.... and then the whole art of radio, telecommunications, etc. But.... running emergency calls on mountaintops sometimes your the first set of 'eyes' or 'hands' on scene to a critical failure.... sometimes that is a generator that won't run - just like this one! TLDR: Adapt and overcome, good job Ivan!

My man Ivan to the rescue.
My 2008 Citroen C5 abs brake problem was a stuck solenoid valve .after replacing the brake pads and fluid flush. a logical bit of advice from You Tube, suggested warming up the alloy solenoid / valve block, and with the block nice and toasty i subjected the alloy body of the ABS module to a series of smacks with a small hammer to free the jammed up valve .. It worked and now I have brakes and the pedal no longer sinks to the floor with the engine running .
An RV needs a 12 volt refer like a fish needs a bicycle. I've had 3 RVs over the years. LP and 120 volt with manual switch is reliable. I always ran the LP on the road (except when fueling). They work better on LP than on 120 volt. Great videos.
Ivan, great job with tracking all the damage the previous shop did. Following all the diagnosis that you did was quite interesting and top notch. Thank you for the videos.
On the old GM steering columns like that, push the lock cylinder in and rotate it backwards (counterclockwise) to put it in the Accessory position. Using the "On" position with the engine off tends to run the battery down.
That crazy wiring in the dash is how they build them. That thing is eerily similar to my Fleetwood (maybe built by them). After owning this thing for a number of years & trouble shooting many electrical issues, I'm surprised these things don't all burn to the ground!
On a onan generator you have to hold the start button until it is running. Also the plug on the right is for the output also the 2nd or 3rd wire down in that plug is for the starter switch in the cab .

You'd think there would be a starter inhibitor on the generator for when there's already AC power otherwise it will be out of phase with mains supply.
