- The water pump on my wife's van started making horrible noise and I'm pretty confident that the water pump is the culprit. Today we are going to replace the water pump, tensioner, and serpentine belt. Follow along as I take you step by step. This is not an "easy" job, but with some hand tools and some mechanical know-how, you can do this and save hundreds! $$$

Great video..when I do mine I will also change t stat with new o e m ..Thanks
thank you for your video - big help!!! :)
Glad I could help you out! Thanks for watching
Great video. Good perspective and easy to see each step. I'm throwing Chilton and Haynes out-lol***
Glad I could help! Don’t know that I’d throw those out, there’s torque specs in there. Lol. Thanks for watching!
Spot on brother. I would have done the same thing. I might have gone one step farther and replaced the other belt and tensioner. apart from that you did the job like a pro.
I honestly completely forgot there was a second belt and tensioner. Thankfully all is quiet and running well! Thanks for watching! Great content, just gained a subscriber BTW
@@copenhagenblue8417 Ya I was surprised there was two belts also. I do all highway and my tensioner and belt where changed at about 350 K miles. The water pump bearing is going will change that tomorrow (630 K mile)
Do I must to remove the tensioner to take out the water pump?, I think I have removed all the screws but I can't take out the water pump, thank you for your help.
Awesome video buddy ! I will be tackling this project today. On my way! To dealship to get pump now.
Thank you! Good luck and I hope it all goes quickly.
100% 👌🏾😎
How many screws have de water pump 7 or 8 ?
That final piece you put on after the actual water pump itself and the belt, the manifold. Is there no seal between that and the engine? Or is the one that was already on there still good to reuse usually?
If you know you’re going to do the job, I would recommend getting a new one. I reused it because it was still in good shape, but I think I got lucky that it was at 126,000 miles still reusable. I’d recommend replacing all O-rings if you can. Thanks for watching.
Please some help, do I have to remove the tensioner if want to remove out the water pump?, I have take out 7 screws I'm able to move water pump but not able to take out it looks like there are one o more screws somewhere, do I have to remove tensioner to take out water pump?, thank you for you help, GOD bless you.
You do not have to remove the tensioner to replace the water pump. I honestly don't remember how many bolts there are sorry, but I believe it is around 8.
Did u replace thermostat also?
No, I did not replace the thermostat. If it was something I had to remove to do the job I would have. Thermostat has never given me any issues, knock on wood. Lol.
Hello guys, I have a cuestion: not tensioner out same like not water pump out?, thank you.
Sorry I never saw your question. I am a little confused on what you're asking. Can you clarify? Thanks for watching
How many miles were on the van when the water pump was replaced?
We had about 116,000 miles if I’m not mistaken.
I replaced mine on 150K
126k
How much is for labor $$ to replace the pump
I’m not sure, I would assume that a dealership would charge no less than 1.5 hours for replacement. Thanks for watching!
Same model but wont start just changed the water pump out on it.. just cranks over
Did it start before doing the water pump?
Yes
The only thing that I can think of is that something was unplugged during the procedure that is effecting the van. I would check all the sensors that are up in that area. Throttle position sensor, cam sensors, MAF sensors, ect. Something is unplugged that sends a signal to the car that is needs. Start there or I should say, work backwards from doing the job and check all your connections. Good Luck! I hope you figure it out.
Looked pretty damned easy to me. No more than 2 hours max, leisurely.
The worst thing was just the space to get to it on the van. I bet in a mustang or something with space, it's a 45 min job for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@copenhagenblue8417 as soon as you started it up I knew what it was. My company van is making the same sound. And the boss is cheap. And it is very nice that job required no sillycone.
@@fryingpanhead8809 same here, as soon as my wife started it up to go to the store. I told her just shut it off and not drive it. It’s not worth the risk of overheating the engine. Hopefully your boss doesn’t ignore it too long. The water pump is a lot cheaper than a motor.
@@copenhagenblue8417 Had to do it today. Bearing went completely so I had no choice. He was in Tampa anyway, so screw him. An hour and 45 minutes, leisurely. But I didn't replace the idler. Good video; you got right to the point. Nice to know exactly what sizes of sockets I needed.
Good job and very good explanation 👏 👍👍👍💯
