2019 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 in depth look and test drive!

  • All I can say about these 2019 Polaris Ranger 1000's is WOW!! Join me as I take an in depth look at the new Polaris Ranger 1000 units and compare between a 'standard' model and the new North star model, which is a fully enclosed and insulated cab with heat, air conditioning, windshield wipers and roll down windows. I'll also take a fun look back at the vehicles that I've got stuck over the last few years including the Chevy 3500 dump truck, Bobcat Excavator, Kioti tractor, Intimidator UTV, Kubota UTV and the Ford truck! My goal is to find a UTV side by side that will NOT easily get stuck! Some of the great features on the Polaris Ranger 100 is a pre-wired set of additional electrical plugs, high air intakes for deep water crossings, 13 inches of ground clearance, an adjustable throttle switch which changes the operation for Standard mode, Utility/Work mode and sport mode, and believe me, it really works. I also like the push button 4 wheel drive with 2 different modes. Check out a demo of me punching it and flinging my head back in such a short distance, then crawling up on a tree stump with precision throttle accuracy. I plan on trading in my 2016 Kubota RTV X900, which in my opinion is a serious DOG... (Sorry Kubota owners...) Be sure to stay tuned to Kapper Outdoors to see how this one pans out as well as our country living adventures, farm vlogs, tractor projects, excavator projects, hunting, fishing, shooting and much more. Kapper Outdoors, living the dream, one acre at a time.

      Kapper Outdoors I would also recommend if you are buying a winch go with the rope instead of cable. I was a little skeptical at first but now I am a believer after using the heck out of it. If you have ever had a cable stab your hand trying to help wind one back up you’ll know what I mean. Secondly it is more user friendly.

    I ride a Yamaha Grizzly 700 with power steering. Not a side-by-side. LOVE it! We just ride for fun though, trail rides in the bush, on the beach for clam digging, and tow dragsters during the summer and plow with it in the winter. Those look like luxury rides 😁

    The common thread in all the stuck footage is operator error, not the machine. The only thing the Polaris can do different from what I've seen is get you stuck quicker.

      It would seem too that tires also play a huge role in the ability to get unstuck.

    • @kapperoutdoors

      You know I can't agree with that man... When this slick clay gets wet, it is very EASY to get stuck... And yes, EOSJOE has it right too, tires are huge. I am pulling earth cutting machines with the Branson, where any of my previous tractors with R4's would have just spun, packed the lugs, and slid back down hill!

    As others have stated I’d look at the Honda pioneer. I own a Ranger 900 XP with full insulated cab and my biggest complaint is the stock clutch Polaris uses. I added a Duraclutch to mine which greatly improved the feel of the throttle at lower speeds.

    Kapper, another fun vid! Would love to see a video on why you think the Kubota is such a dog! I’m really interested in the Kubota RTV-X1140. Four passengers or go to two passengers and a huge bed with hydraulic dump. What do you think?

    One thing the Polaris has that kubota doesn't is a Bluetooth stereo so you can't get a distracted driving ticket if you happen to cross a road way and you can under the dump bed with the key flip a switch and have it limited to 20 mph then if there is a emergency flip it to where it can do 88 mph and go first responder mode

    I ride a xp1000 hunter edition and love it. My only complaint is the clutch is jerky at the very start but a company called Giloman Innovation makes a kit that fixes it perfectly. The big gripe of the ranger is "turf mode" or one wheel drive will not hold up and blows the rear differential. Join the Ranger owners group on fb, there is a lot of good info available. If you want to test drive both, come over to my neck of the woods and both dealers are in the same town and let you test drive them off road and get after it.

    • @kapperoutdoors

      Thanks man, yeah I've heard that of the clutch, but if I get it I'll see if I can adjust. I'm not a big racing guy so it may not be an issue. Every quad and atv I've ever had had some kind of clutch lag, except the electric!

Your more likely to get quality meals in an ac cab when building food plots and water holes. Don't get too excited about the engine intake and belt intake snorkels under the hood. While neat yes, they forgot to snorkel the belt exhaust air! Water will still spill inside the clutch housing and stop the machine dead in its tracks. Also, if/when you get this machine, the first thing you need to do is make sure the five drain plugs (engine, rear diff fill and drain, front diff fill and drain) will break loose. The hulk at the factory overtightened my front diff fill causing me to strip it out (8mm Allen and yes it was fully seated!). Talked to my dealer and they said it was not warranty and that they would charge me $$ to fix it. Yesterday, I removed the front bumper and chiseled at the side of the plug to break it free, then welded a 3/4" nut to it so that this would never happen again! Still looking for a way to snorkel the belt exhaust without cutting up the bed like all the others do. Good luck!

      @kapperoutdoors  5 років тому

      @Robert_Mann 5 років тому

      @@kapperoutdoors With full snorkels, yes you can drive them through a pond. But again, with stock setup you cannot go in water higher than the seat bottom or else water will spill over into the clutch housing via the belt exhaust port. Tilt the bed back and look at yours. That "grated" metal opening just above the exhaust manifold is where it spills over into.
      Some kits like the HighLifter have you cut the bed up to make room for the tubes. Another kit that I saw does not cut the bed but rather goes through the back of the cab. Will have to keep an eye out on that one to see if it's the one to get.

    If you're not going to be racing, then I think the 700 would be plenty. Someone can correct me, but I think the only major difference would be top speed. I personally wouldn't want to go 80+ mph in that anyway.
    The cab is cool, but ridiculously expensive.

      The big thing with the 1,000 is that it is a totally different body, frame, suspension, more Heavy duty than the 900's. I do need heavy duty stuff in the terrain that we live in, it can get quite rough at times. thanks.

      @@kapperoutdoors I didn't realize that. I thought all the full size rangers were on the same frame. Make sure you check that out for yourself so you're not tricked into buying it. Looking forward to the next video, good luck!

      @@kapperoutdoors I stand corrected. The dimensions are larger with the 1000 than the 900, and is rated to tow more.

    I wouldnt buy one. I had a new 900xp lasted about 2yrs using it on the farm for everyday use. They machine would squat really bad with 400lbs in the bed and had,to keep it in low if i had anything heay to move with it. Just be very careful with the Polaris Rangers.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  5 років тому

      Well, the 19 models were completely overhauled, everything new, created around the 82 hp new 1,000 power plant. My old Ranger was a work horse, until the computer went out! Otherwise that thing took a real beating!

    avoid polaris you will have nothing but issues with it! we had 2 2017 sportsmans , lots of recalls, run very hot my wife and i would burn our legs on them with just routine riding and polaris would do nothing to help with the heat. Dealer support for polaris sux

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  5 років тому

      Well, dealer supports is usually a local dealer issue, I've heard many of the same things with tractors. If you have good dealer support, it makes a world of difference. I know that this model was updated in 18, then again in 19.

      @kapperoutdoors  5 років тому

      Man, not sure where you get rubberband, but they've dominated the market for years and still sell 80% of the UTV market. Check this out: ua-cam.com/video/52bjVuMzYnA/v-deo.html

      Just a light hearted jab at the rubber cvt belt that's known to blow. No doubt they have the market cornered though. I think Hondas dct transmission will prove itself to be much more robust and reliable. Hopefully anyways.
