    Thank you for helping me self-diagnose this condition after six years of frustrating flare-ups, several prescription and non-prescription treatments without getting closer to solving the mystery. A derm prescribed several topical and oral treatments over years and a strong antibiotic seemed the thing that made a difference (it was too strong and she wouldn’t let me take it long term). I spent so much money and time on this and finally, a year ago, she offered me the last option of cosmetic surgery. In desperation, I googled a string of words describing my many symptoms and up popped your video from a couple of years ago. Consistently using anti-dandruff shampoo and moisturizing every morning without fail (I like Aveeno) has largely kept the symptoms at bay for a year. Thank you for sharing your expertise so freely. It is a relief not to be seeing distracting and sore flare-ups front and centre between my eyebrows. To some it may seem a superficial issue but it can really do a number on your confidence level. You made a difference in my life. Keep up the informative and often hilarious videos. Wishing you health and happiness in 2025 and always!

    I used to have this problem pretty severely. I was struggling with acne so I used pretty harsh skin products to deal with that, and that made my skin very oily and dried out and it was just a vicious cycle of my acne not being quite addressed while also aggravating other skin problems in the process. My eyebrows would always look so flaky. After getting on a retinoid (adapalene), purging for over a year and simplifying my skin care, my skin adjusted to being only able to tolerate little products so I removed all other products except adapalene, moistuzier, and sunscreen and just used a heavier moisturizer than I'd previously feel comfortable using and wash my face with colder water. My skin is fine now, no acne, soft, and my eyebrows don't shed skin anymore. I also follow your tips of moisturizing while the skin is still wet. Just dollop a generous heaping of cerave moisturizer on my face while wet and make sure a generous amount is packed into my eyebrows. Not a single flake ever since! I look crazy when I leave the shower before the moisturizer is dried down, but it works well.

    I followed your advice to try a ZP bar from a previous video and it has healed the sebderm around my nose and in my eyebrows. Three to four mornings a week I lather up some of the ZP bar soap and put it on my trouble zones, brush my teeth while it goes to work, then rinse. I follow up with moisturizer and use a barrier cream or petrolatum at night. Thanks Dr. Dray!

    I use the ketoconazole Nizoral as a face wash when I'm in flare up mode. I leave it on my face for 5-10 minutes then wash it off. I also use the SA shampoo, and Coal Tar shampoo as a rotation. I also use generic jock itch cream as a leave-on in the areas of the face that flare (sides of chin, sides of nose, eyebrows). I have to avoid skin care products with any oils during flare periods, like winter and spring. SD skin condition sucks!

    Could not be better timed. I am recently struggling with my seborrheic dermatitis flare ups. I was considering what other products I might want to switch to, so this is crazy helpful.
    The ketoconazole shampoo was working well for years, but it's become less effective over time and the flare ups have increased in area, frequency, and intensity. Hoping adding a couple of these to the face routine will help. I have noticed that using a retinol serum (the ordinary 5% granactive) does help as well, but it's been frequently out of stock 😅

    Dr. Dray I am a gentleman that enjoys your channel and I have a couple ideas and questions for you.
    This first is why is so difficult to find photossomes like the ones in the Lightstim serum and DNA Youth code recovery cream?
    The second is why isn't there more of a hype around Idebenone? I have used Prevage and gotten excellent results. But, like the Lightstim serum it was super expensive so now I am using Mary and May's products for a fraction of the price.
    I noticed there is a lack of discussion on these two ingredients that are my favorite in skincare.
    You're the best! Thanks!!

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 16 днів тому +1

      If you're talking about DNA repair enzymes, Dr Dray has talked about them. As for the Photozyme dna youth recovery, I've seen this talked about on Penn Smith Skincare in several of her videos.

    • @TS-lw5kp
      @TS-lw5kp 16 днів тому

      @db-gb5xi thank you for the info! I will check it out. Specifically what I am looking for is the ingredient which is apparently an algae that when exposed to red light led it makes your skin really glow. I am sure I will be spelling this wrong but it's referred to as photo liaze. I am sure I spelled it incorrectly.

    • @db-gb5xi
      @db-gb5xi 16 днів тому

      @@TS-lw5kp I did find the product you were talking about and it is photolyase. As far as the idebenone, it does seem to pop up in some skincare databases as a form of coq10/ubiquinone which I know Dr Dray and other derms have talked about since it's an antioxidant.

  • @Sunnyshutin

    Dr Dray what do I do, I have a bit of flakey skin on my nose and for over a year I've had like yellow/brown ish crust/dirt that cling and is difficult to remove on my cheeks and under eyes and on my eyelids. I've scratched off most under my eyes with my nails very gently by lifting it up or using a q-tip. I've had this for over a year and feel like my skin is worse than a homeless persons and I do have eyebrow crust/dandruff as well and feel like products wont absorb well because of everything I just mentioned. Can I use chemical exfoliants or is it dangerous if my skin has this crust/dirt? This has really affected me along with being insecure over my fine lines or nasial folds and I used to never laugh but then I started out of nowhere and feeling my cheeks move and stuff makes me feel so bad and my face is uneven and my teeth are sort of misaligned but I dont have an over or under bite also i have a neck hump and bad posture a bit more forward. I've truly given up the idea that I can ever become beautiful. The crust thing started in 2023 fall when I got a cold or whatever and was in bed for a few days and started around the eyes. I gave up skincare and sunscreen because it wouldn't fully absorb and I feel like the ugliest version of myself. Im a shut-in hypochondriac as well and I hate going outside. Can it be that my skin barrier is broken or my skin is severely dry so dirt clings to it more easily? Washing off cleansers is also difficult because of this..especially around cheeks and eyes but my forehead drinks up the cleanser.

My face flushes during daily activities, and I’ve noticed this redness tends to persist. I’ve used steroids like hydrocortisone. I am currently using tinted sunscreen for cosmetics. When my SD was worse, I used ketnoconisol prescribed by my dermatologist. But now I use Shea Moisture’s African black soap bar on my face and as a shampoo bar during winter months and rarely have any issues. I gently exfoliate my brows and around my mouth with a wash cloth every day or two in the shower and use a light cera ve moisturizer for day and a palmers cocoa butter at night. Less is more for my skin. Trader Joe’s has a nice tea tree face wash that feels very refreshing, but that is something I would use in warmer months.

      Essential oils are tricky though. A lot of people have allergic reactions and you have to have the right concentration level (which is difficult because it varies with every bottle of essential oil) to avoid irritation/allergic reaction or chemical burn.
