Love the color and finish on this 👍
Really pretty piece, Heather!
Interesting turn, Heather. Thanks
Thanks Jim! Just a quick little turn sampling some different finishing techniques
That's really pretty Heather - lightish red and shiney ! The thermos shape is kind of interesting. Take care. -Mike
I really like what you did with the finishing. I'll have to try that myself.
Thanks Carsten! The Rit dye comes in lots of different colours too! And you can mix them to get different colours
Even when you don't like it too much, this was still a good test-run for the finish you applied.
That certainly came out great! 😎
Thanks Leo! That's basically what it was, just a test run!
Well done Heather. My suggestions: I would have suggested at least one more coat of the dye to get a richer color. As for the bottom, apply a heavy coat or two of sanding sealer or thin CA and sand away.
Like I said, you did a great job and turned a very nice vase.
Thanks Doug! I was just kind of playing with the dye, but I'll definitely use more next time. Maybe even used a mix of different colours!
As for the bottom...I'll probably just use the sanding sealer and call it done
Nice piece. You can use epoxy for the bottom that will harden the punky wood.
Thanks, Ron! I'm not too worried about the bottom. I'll just put a few coats of sanding sealer, sand it down, and call it done
