I know that most people who see this beautiful vase will never pick it up and turn it over, but I was really impressed with the way that the bottom of it turned out. There's a symmetry with the way it all flows together from the bottom up that you just don't see in a lot of castings.
THAT is a VERY NICE Vase! 🎉 I think your auctioning some pieces is a great idea. Of course allowing for your base starting price to cover your costs. You might want to consider making a percentage of proceeds on an auctioned piece to a charity. Or occasionally make the proceeds of an entire piece that supports a charity. Maybe at the 100,000 member point
When I was a little girl we had friends who had sweet gum trees on their property. At Christmas time we would gather the pods and decorate them for ornaments. Your vase brings back those sweet memories. Maybe that's why I think the vase looks "Christmasey". It's truly gorgeous!
This is a magnificent vase - congratulations. I haven't commented on your channel for a while, although I don't believe I've missed a single episode (if that's the right term). This is because I've taken to watching you on TV, which saves my tablet's battery. I usually remember to leave a 'like' on my tablet though. I hope this doesn't mess up your algorithms - but if few people do this, I guess it doesn't matter.
How freaking cool is this!? I am a HUGE fan of EVERYTHING going on here! The shape is really powerful and the colors are wonderful, the wood is beautiful and the green within it? Perfect! It reminds me of old Japanese design! I love when you work with the little pods and walnut shells, what fun textural elements! Good job on 95k! 100k, here you come! Designer Epoxy Lastly: have you ever done a Live Auction on UA-cam? I follow fluid artists that hold them once or twice a year! I know I'd definitely sign on for it!!
Beautiful piece. I like the contrast of the green with the "redish" woods. I think an e-bay auction would be a great idea. Give more people a a chance to get one of your lovely pieces.
This is an awesome piece. It makes me think of Christmas. The wood is gorgeous and works well with the pods. Another amazing and creative piece, Jim! 🎉🎉
In my opinion this is the coolest vase you have made so far. The profile is so different and really awesome. The colors and the materials work well together. You nailed this one.
Ooh, the prickerballs again! The bane of my childhood. You have to rake twice a year- leaves in the fall, seed balls in the spring. It’s cool that you can turn that into something so beautiful. Sweet gums are actually quite nice looking trees that grow very tall and straight, and they’re stunning in the fall. But damn, they are a lot of work. (Since you mentioned it, as far as I know the prickerballs are all pretty much the same size. And I grew up in a forest of sweet gums, so I do know!)
@@SpragueWoodturning You could probably find smaller seed balls from some other species of tree and combine them with the sweet gum pods, if you wanted to fill in the spaces more. I don’t know of any offhand, but I’m sure someone does.
I only recently subscribed to your channel and I am blown away by how beautiful your pieces are! I watch primarily because I find wood turning videos relaxing but I also enjoy learning about how to make these types of things and your videos are a good mix of ASMR and explanation. I'm looking forward to more wonderful videos!
Definitely gives off victorian vibes with the tulip shape and jungle green resin. Being in California my entire life, I can tell you that those gum pods are the worst to step on, but you made them look beautiful in the finished piece 😍
Just one word for this vase... WOW. WOW WOW WOW! I mean, there's probably plenty of other words like stunning and unique and beautiful, but I'm sticking with WOW! As an Aussie, my heart is very much with everyone currently affected by the forest fires in Canada. Certainly in my lifetime our bushfires have gotten significantly worse, and seeing more and more from North America hit the international news is rather heartbreaking. I hope you and your family continue to stay safe Jim. I think eBay auctions would definitely be a fun thing to try, even if they were out of my price range I would enjoy watching the bidding and seeing the final winning price! CONGRATULATIONS on hitting 95k subscribers Jim, I will continue to share your videos and look forward to seeing many more milestones in the near future. Thank you!
Designer epoxy pulling out the beauty and turning into memories. Love the shot with light inside, I’ll pick my jaw off the floor now thanks Jim ~Smile oN
This turned out so fantabulous, the color of the woods, resin. It's just so beautiful, I love how you incorporated the pods. Makes for a very "holiday" type piece, but super visually interesting. The shape is awesome too. Thanks so much for sharing this.😊
That color of green with the sweet gum pods and your choice of woods is a spectacular Looking piece, it's beautiful. The purple heart and paduke woods are beautiful with this.❤
This one looks like a Christmas gift! I love the exotic woods and that you found a good use for those damn sweet gum pods! I have hated those since childhood and how they hurt my bare feet! They were lovely suspended in resin...about the only time I'll say that. Congratulations on reaching 95k subscribers! Yeehaw!
My favorite part of your videos is when you touch the first coat of the gloss finish. Absolutely stunning. I am so glad I found your channel. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Wow, you weren't kidding. Absolutely gorgeous UNIQUE piece. Congratulations on 95k😂 yes nova scotia got very needed rain as well. We had wildlifes in Shelburne and here in Sackville, and we were on a 30-minute warning to evacuate.
All I can say is WOW!, I love the contrast of colors, the brown of the sweetgum pods, the purpleheart and the orange of the padauk with that beautiful green epoxy is just astounding.
The artists emphasize that the works are art when they carry a part of the soul of the artist who made it because that's how it excites whoever contemplates, and the rest is craftsmanship. Jim, be thankful you don't live where the Sweet Gums grow. The trees drop their gum balls (as the pods are affectionately known) all over your yard, and you can't go out in bare feet lest you step on the nasty, spiny critters. I heard of someone recently selling them to tourists as porcupine eggs 🥚.

Stunning!!! This vase is, by far. the most beautiful one I've ever seen. My eyes fluttered, in disbelief, when you stopped the lathe after the first coating. The depth and richness of the colors .... I cannot express how it makes me feel. You surely did yourself proud. God bless.
I'm finding that the inclusion of pods, cones etc in pieces adds so much to the overall beauty of the piece ... the outer parts of the pods etc are pretty enough, but when you start cutting into them the outcome is always amazing 👍 Do you ever get bored creating masterpiece after masterpiece 😁
I really like the profile of this vase. The wood selection was great and I think the sweet gum pods would look nice with just about any color of epoxy. Cool one this week, take care.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING creation! I just love it! The contrast of colors between the two different woods, the colors of every component just makes it POP with beautiful and mesmerizing effects! I JUST LOVE IT!!
Wow I love it. Amazing the wide range of beautiful pieces that are made with resin ,wood and tree droppings so to speak. We had 2 tall trees in the front of our house when we were kids that had those pods drop off our trees . Yes they were very painful if u stepped on them with bare feet.
