The part in episode 7 (I think) when John starts yelling at Jane in the woods about his mom hit me hard, as I've recently had the exact same, almost verbatim freak out at my wife. That's probably my favorite episode. Side note, love the review and explanation. A lot of review videos on UA-cam seem like (and probably are) school assignments.
I think it's just another example of lazy untalented woke writers who can only take ORIGINAL ideas and just put their own political and racist ideas in place of it. If this was a one off...I might check it out..but this keeps happening over and over and over etc. No thanks😂

I'd ask you what woke really means, but it would probably just take you 6 paragraphs to explain that wokeness involves anything that has anyone of color in it. The ending lowkey broke my heart. They only lived for a few minutes knowing truly knowing how they both felt about each other. That just taught me that you should be open with who you love, you never know how much time you have with someone.

Probably have it be something like Jane 2 missed multiple and Alana/Jane shot and killed her. Or that she managed to wrestle away the gun. It would be an interesting way to end with their death if its just 1 season though.
@@kadestxcherx1309It's funny how that happens, right? I only learned about the show two weeks ago and ended up binging it the day it released. My girlfriend and I keep mentioning it. This show leapfrogged several others in my "I need more" tier in one night and its not even close.
[SPOILER} This show is a 10 out of 10 for me. Even at the end inside the locked room, she FINALLY asked what his plan was, and his plan was to wait and DIE for her to live, while her plan was to risk dying for him to live. Excellent ending to the relationship.

I think more or less the same, Other Jane fired two quick shots and our Jane fired her 1. The most optimistic ending is that they shot each other. With Other Jane hitting ours twice and our Jane shooting back hitting her once. The reality is that the door opened unexpectedly so it's more likely what I think in that all the characters are dead. They would have to get John to the hospital to treat his gunshot wound, as well. On the other side we never heard Other Jane putting in the code to open the door which implies our Jane may have gotten the jump, as the comment says we see the flashes meaning they happened outside the safehouse. Meaning our Jane could've rushed Other Jane.
Yeah I noticed that too. Perfect ending. My one complain about the show is the action scenes were very weak. But the actual writing and acting were superb.
On the first episode I told my girlfriend all I could see when I looked at John was Childish Gambino, but by the end of the show he was a whole different character that I cared for
The 3 shots at the end seemed obvious to me that the firing would have been Jane 1's shot missing, Jane 2's shot immediately after killing Jane 1, then the slightly delayed 3rd shot being Jane 2 entering the room and killing John, but classical in writing, killing someone off camera doesn’t assure that they are dead...
Thats most likely what they want us to think as its the most logical outcome to those three shots. It could’ve many variations tho, Maybe Alana/Jane shot her, and grab hers(other jane) shot her two more times to finish her?
@asant90 I agree with this comment. There is a reason why John said, "Wait till it gets dark. Use that to their advantage. " I think Jane gets hit, but still able to finish her. Or maybe John 2 is still alive and kills Jane 2 for trying to kill him, and Jane 1 kills John 2 in the hallway, but it is most likely not the case scenario. Just thrown that out there.
The problem is that the weapon that Jane 2 is shooting is automatic it can be semi automatic but why would u flip it to that there the first shot happened then the last 2 a delay later
This series is excellent. Sad to see how close they grew to each other, trusting each other, saying I love you to each other.. then to sitting distant from each other in therapy. I also think that the therapist should have been provided by “the company” so that the therapist could really understand their line of work and better suit their needs.. this show definitely represents a lot of modern marriages..
How can it represent a lot of modern marriages? It started fake, as strangers, for money, sociopaths, constant lies, no control over most things, no personal freedom, murderers without any regret. They were horrible!

Last episode has the mention of a neighbor doctor. Pilot scene, where a lone sniper takes out other presumable smiths who were running off with money from their old works, the sniper is Jane (1) along with John (Michael). Jane (1) got promoted to high risk, finishing off other Johns and Smiths while Michael got fixed by the neighbor doctor and downsized to Low risk.
This is the best prediction that would make the most sense. Slipping in the info about the doctor as a neighbor really would allow them to tie the story together that John survives. If it doesn't get a season 2 it's also easy for them to say they gave us closure with the truth serum scene and Jane 2 shot Jane 1 twice then the third shot went to John 1 just to be sure. Hopefully we get them returning for season 2.
Makes no sense. Rewatch the pilot u can see who the sniper was. Also Dr wont come fix John as the last scene shows the neighbor being happy the house is messed up and leaves thinking his company will now be able to buy it.

I think Alana missed the shot, the first flash was Alana's, unfortunately she missed so the next two consecutive shots were from super high risk Jane, double tap to finish her off. Michael was dead anyway, common trope in film always depict the right side of the stomach is fatal. In the end Michael still wants to take his time, prolonging situations where he suggested to wait it out, while Alana wanted to take action immediately, being more decisive, seeing Michael didn't have much time left. The series is really a gem. Can't wait for more projects involving Donald Glover and also Hiro Murai!
Micheal could’ve lived hear me out… When all the smiths first met John 2 was asked about his hardest mission and talks about how “if you can learn to breathe, you control the earth” or some bs like that. John 1 could’ve survived by pretending to be dead and controlling his breathing. it feels odd to have John 2 mention something significant and for the show not build off of it. maybe season 2 is john avenging Jane

It's also possible that Alana hit Jane 2, took her weapon, and finished her off with another two shot. That's the only best case scenario I can think of.
My wife and I devoured this season in two days, and loved it. We were sad that it was over seemingly so quickly, hope there’s a second season, with these characters, but I could also see the ending working as a limited series ending.
Knowing Donald glover and his love for endings…they dead. But that sucks because I feel like this could’ve lasted a good three seasons. But they are definitely dead. Which is annoying because I feel like..idk man just keep a good thing going sometimes man damn.
I think its left ambiguous cause they don't know where they want to take it. Will we see the same John and Jane again? Will there be a different John and Jane for season 2? I really hate it when the ending is thrown into the air like that 😅.
When I found out this project was co created and written by Glover one of the most creative and original artist out there I said sign me up. I immediately dismissed the criticism that swirled around it by people who were understandably tired of remakes and reboots. After watching the teasers and trailer my feelings were completely confirmed. I thought Francesca Sloan and Donald Glover created a spy world that was high stakes with its action as well as its relationship between Erskine’s Jane and Glover’s John. I loved the role their employer “the company” played in causing tension figuratively and literally and it left me wanting to learn more about the organization much like the “high table” did for the John Wick movies. Erskine and Glover’s chemistry was really rock solid and made the show, when they argued you felt it and when the were vulnerable and intimate you felt that too. I thought the way their relationship changed from strictly professional to intimate was organic and didn’t feel rushed or forced. There are two things this show didn’t do that I think has been a problem in a lot of modern movies and television which makes this show very watchable. First they paint a positive overall picture of relationships that put in the work, in this modern world where everyone is out for themselves even those within a relationship that was refreshing. Second they don’t tear down or dumb down one main character to elevate the other. Overall I hope there is at least one more season, they left enough bread crumbs to effectively make one in my opinion.
@@BrainPilotyeah, that might be interesting. Also, that is sort of what I think they were setting up in episode one with the two smiths killed right at the beginning. The person whole was lying in the grass and shot the Alex Skarsgaard - John seemed to be a woman, but you can’t tell if that was the Mya Ereskin -Jane or the Parker Posey - Jane, what with the ski masks and all. Definitely think they are planning to explore that later, since they didn’t touch it at all this season, or why else would they have such a well known talanted actor for just a 5 minute cameo. I guess it’s possible, but even with the other well known cameos, they had much more back story - sort of.
It was really good, very deep, meta, insightful, best reflection of stages of a relationship I've seen in ages, everything Donald Glover does is more than superficial, it has depth. Perfect season, there should never be any more, should be like a mini series, glad they are going thag route it seems anyway
The incongruity of the action genre with the relationship drama didn't hamper the series as much as I thought it would. I like the idea that they wrapped up these characters in a single season. I was intrigued by the cultish nature of the Smiths alluded to by "high risk" Smith assassins and hope the writers make that the core of any possible subsequent seasons.
I loved the chemistry between the 2 throughout the whole season. I read somewhere they might do a season 2 with different actors as new smiths. While this is interesting, im not sure if I can give up the amazing acting and chemistry from these 2. I think its plausible Jane 1 shot jane 2, jane 2 shot and missed, and a few seconds later jane 1 finishes off jane 2 with her own gun, which is why there is a delay between the 2nd and 3rd flash. Or jane 1 shot jane 2, and jane 2 shot bullets aimlessly as she fell to the ground. I loved this series, looking forward to season 2
I WANT A SEASON 2 SO BAD, I want them to have a happy ending, I can't accept them just being dead, I'm actually heartbroken, I was screaming at my phone at the last scene
Pilot and finale were great, everything in between was up and down. Interesting to see season 2, as Jane said she had a single shot left, but 3 shots rang, and the second two were somewhat delayed.
That's fair! I actually really liked episode 6. I thought it was such a well written piece of TV! And yeah, the final three shots definitely leave some questions
@Jadewonderland there's more story of character development with Maya's Jane. Story about her father and her insecurity sbout being a mother. They better not kill off these characters. The last episode was directed by Donald Glover. You don't think he had a plan on characters' survival. Plus, the real estate agent found the door front open the following morning. I think Jane and John left the house.
The writing on this show was top tier. The subtle details in human behavior. The humor, the tension, the quirks (ie the fart scene). 10/10 story telling.
My prediction is this: we will get another season focusing on a different team of smiths, and they will eventually be forced to hunt down some rogue smiths. Those smiths? Alana and Michael. But Alana and Michael will have been collecting everything they could about hihi, and will try to convince the other Smiths to join them in toppling the company
Love the series.. I think the fact that the unit wasn’t clean and the door was open suggest that either/both Michael and Alana might have made it out alive because the agency wasn’t called to clean up the mess.
This is actually one of the few ending explained videos I was able to find. Very well done! I have not binged a good show in years, this show definitely changed that. Very grateful to have watched it.
Very emotional and clever tv show about relationship.I finally got attached to main characters. They were not like plastic, immortal heroes, that always save the world. Strange to see so low audience score on some websites
The show was actually pretty good.. This was the very first time that I actually binge watched all episodes of a show in one sitting.. Can't wait for season 2..
The ending three shots felt like Jane missed or didn’t kill Jane #2, Jane #2 then killed Jane, then the gap could be either John crawling to Jane, or Jane #2 dragging John out- followed by a single execution style shot (John would have to be outside the panic room for the last gunshot to reflect off the exterior windows in the end)
We can't forget that the other John is still alive but wounded, I think Jane got out..... shoots the other Jane, disarms her, shoots her again and then shoots the other John.
Donald Glover is brilliant when it comes to sound design. If you listen closely the first two shots sound the same but the last one is different meaning Jane fired the last shot because she only had 1 bullet!
All flashes were visible outside a window. In my opinion this implies Jane 1 shot Jane 2 acquired her firearm,&shot john 2. Saving our Jane & john for now. John 1 was critically injured and thus unable to move properly the last shot would not have been visible if he was killed. Also the cameras outside the panic room would give jane 1 the upper hand. Either way they saved their relationship relationship, and even if they’re gone thats a happy enough ending for me. 😊
Really liked the show, I binged it in one day. Even messed up my sleep cycle in the process 😂 I hoped there would be more, learning who Hihi was, and seeing them recover their relationship. But I think our Jane having missed her shot, and other Jane shooting her and John makes the most sense. Maybe there will be a season two with a new pair but it’d feel very repetitive. Or maybe one or both survived but I doubt that too. I’d almost like to see John having survived, and both Jane’s took eachother out. John would definitely have the incentive to find Hihi and get revenge. Or he could get a new Jane and be resentful of her. I mainly want John to survive because of his mom tho. The thought of her being alone is very sad to me. :(
Based of how it started in episode 1. If they have a season 2 it will probably be then on the run, the. Introduce new characters but still have them included throughout the season
It's really a great show. While I think it has a perfect closer for a 1-shot series, it also have plenty of potential to continue on. The problem is a LOT of the chemistry is Glover and Erskine and without them I really don't know if Glover can make it really work as just a director. So if I were to watch more I'd want to see those 2 in it. On one hand, if I were trying to make more of the show I'd want them in it, but I'd want them to need to keep working missions and doing spy stuff. It wouldn't make sense for HiHi to take them back. So what I'd do is I'd take the angle that Bev, who worked for a rival agency, and did seem to actually like John, could have come back now that they were being severed from HiHi and 'recruit' them to her agency. Now there's a season where they have to work for Bev's team and deal with the drama between them and her, and the new organization. Maybe not, I dunno. But that's an angle I'd explore if I was working on the show.
If you look closely the flashes of the bullets fired are different. Since Jane 1 was carrying a pistol whereas Jane was carrying a heavy gun. The first bullet was from Jane 2 since the flash of the first bullet was much brighter. The second bullet however had a dimmer flash therefore it was from Jane 1's pistol and the third from Jane 2. And this probably means both Jane 1 and 2 were shot. It will only be interesting to see who survived in the next season.

If they survive, they can confront Hihi and perhaps considering escaping from the organization. The first episode were them attempting to do the same but failed since they didn’t keep in mind the Smithhunters. Because they met the other Smiths, who happen to hunt Smiths, are there other Smiths? Or rival companies? Will they continue to do missions. I think Hihi will ignore the current mission and treat the Smiths who died as a substitute for their own “High Risk” mission. There’s a few questions that need answering like, Why are “Extremely High Risk” missions to target other Smiths? Another question are the rival companies. Since they are running away, can they apply to a rival companies to escape. They technically can’t escape so why not transfer jobs for protection? They also mentioned Hihi being akin to a God being all-knowing so the investigation into their boss. There’s much promise to the series.
You can tell from the gun flashes, Alana didn't fire first. Jane 2 was right there and fired off 2 rounds as soon as the for opened. That pause between the 2nd and 3rd shot. Alana fired the 3rd shot killing jane 2. People on this show will spray bullets as soon as a door opens, missing their target.
The caring has been kind of bad all the way until they laughed together in the bedroom in episode 4 about how weird the other couple was. That finally seemed like genuine acting.
donald glover is a certified goat at anything that he does. now this makes me want to watch Atlanta. I'd even rewatch community just to see him again. i remember there was a video essay on donald glover, and him being a genius at everything that he does. which i completely agree with after watching this show
This show had an unexpectedly profound emotional affect on me. The amazing chemistry between Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, along with the excellent dialog, made for a very genuine connection. This is going to sound weird, but one of my favorite scenes is when the two are in bed together and John accuses Jane of farting. LOL. Anyone who has ever been in a committed relationship has had that conversation with their partner. I couldn't stop laughing. Excellent writing. That scene also (for a moment) took some of the edge off of the constant threat to their lives. I got very attached to John and Jane, and their love for each other. That is why the final scene in the panic room actually made me cry. When I realized the inevitability of their situation, I wanted to throw my TV off the balcony. LOL. That being said, I loved this version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And I am glad that it was left open-ended.
Why would John / Michael risk his mother's life by not just staying in contact with her but especially by moving her close to them in NY. I enjoyed this series mostly, but the writing could have been better.
Theory : At the beginning of the series we see them kill another John & Jane which is “Higher Risk”. If that’s the case. Did they basically spoil or confirm that there’s another season because they didn’t know that high risk meant killing other smiths till the end of the last episode.
This is what happened at the end. At first there were 2 shots (Jane 2) firing into the room when the door opened.. and if you notice there was a slight pause then a final shot i.e. Jane 1 last bullet... There will be a second season
Loved it cuz you didn’t know what you were to get each episode. Some were better than others, but collectively, the show is great. A good example that you don’t always get closure & get answers to all questions, but were thoroughly entertained!!!
I did not expect the show to be that good. It was great. It took the movie and made it a much more realistic story instead. The characters were all so realistic. I loved their sense of humor. I'm looking forward to the next season so badly, if there is one. I just can't see there being a second season (at least with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine) because it would entirely just be a show of them being on the run. There is little room for a character arc at that point.
Alana tells Michael to breathe in the last scene before the last shot. I think it’s a call back from the advice he got from the other John Smith, who says, “if you can do that (focus on breathing) you’ll survive anything,” or something like that. Then I think because of how the first couple goes out in the first episode where that Smith dies before the other fights back could mean it might end differently for our Smiths (Michael is at least still alive before Alana opens the door. It’s kind of a reversal of how the first couple ends up. I mean this is all speculation and Im cool with how it ends.
I believe they both died. In order to continue the series I believe they did so so they could do like a doctor who with season 2 with a whole new Jane and John and a new story. Also leaving the ending up for speculation so tht if they’re renewed for a season two they’re different avenues they can go with
I agree. It’ll be best if the show does come back but with a new John and Jane. I would prefer this John and Jane dying but if they aren’t, we have a few seasons of a new John and Jane and in season 3 these 2 are discovered removed in a remote location with a family.
I tend to rabbit-hole when it comes to patterns so my brain keeps going "John 2 sneezed in threes and they used that to their advantage, Jane said she'd open the door on the count of three, and the ending shows three shots."
Does anyone understand what was that scene when they run into Michael’s ex girlfriend? Seemed super random and feel like they wouldn’t have gotten the Tokyo actress if the purpose of that was just making a joke at the end about the hand
i also felt like the most important dialogues happened in their down times, and not during the action scenes, which is outplayed so much in movies when the main characters are about to face off a real threat to their lives, i would not like to relate this point with the original movie where mr and mrs smith have a show down with the company. i think it was great at that time and was suited for my young taste in cinema and romance.
It's possible a Season 2 will pick up with neither Jane hitting the other and the fight continues. Alana Jane would need to find another gun hidden somewhere. The special guest actors really elevate this show over the otherwise ok writing. Always love to see Sarah Paulson! ♥️
It was ok, 1st episode was good. Some episodes after that was a drag, some were boring, some were good. Last episode was good. I can't remember exactly which episodes in the middle were good lol
They should cover a new "John and Jane" but this time have the Main Characters from the first season be the "John and Jane" that are super-high-risk if they want to do a season 2

My one complain about the show is the action scenes were very weak. But the actual writing and acting were superb.

The 3 shots at the end seemed obvious to me that the firing would have been Jane 1's shot missing, Jane 2's shot immediately after killing Jane 1, then the slightly delayed 3rd shot being Jane 2 entering the room and killing John, but classical in writing, killing someone off camera doesn’t assure that they are dead...
Thats most likely what they want us to think as its the most logical outcome to those three shots. It could’ve many variations tho, Maybe Alana/Jane shot her, and grab hers(other jane) shot her two more times to finish her?
@asant90 I agree with this comment. There is a reason why John said, "Wait till it gets dark. Use that to their advantage. " I think Jane gets hit, but still able to finish her. Or maybe John 2 is still alive and kills Jane 2 for trying to kill him, and Jane 1 kills John 2 in the hallway, but it is most likely not the case scenario. Just thrown that out there.
The problem is that the weapon that Jane 2 is shooting is automatic it can be semi automatic but why would u flip it to that there the first shot happened then the last 2 a delay later

This series is excellent. Sad to see how close they grew to each other, trusting each other, saying I love you to each other.. then to sitting distant from each other in therapy. I also think that the therapist should have been provided by “the company” so that the therapist could really understand their line of work and better suit their needs.. this show definitely represents a lot of modern marriages..

Pilot scene, where a lone sniper takes out other presumable smiths who were running off with money from their old works, the sniper is Jane (1) along with John (Michael).
Jane (1) got promoted to high risk, finishing off other Johns and Smiths while Michael got fixed by the neighbor doctor and downsized to Low risk.

This is the best prediction that would make the most sense. Slipping in the info about the doctor as a neighbor really would allow them to tie the story together that John survives. If it doesn't get a season 2 it's also easy for them to say they gave us closure with the truth serum scene and Jane 2 shot Jane 1 twice then the third shot went to John 1 just to be sure. Hopefully we get them returning for season 2.
Makes no sense. Rewatch the pilot u can see who the sniper was. Also Dr wont come fix John as the last scene shows the neighbor being happy the house is messed up and leaves thinking his company will now be able to buy it.

I think Alana missed the shot, the first flash was Alana's, unfortunately she missed so the next two consecutive shots were from super high risk Jane, double tap to finish her off. Michael was dead anyway, common trope in film always depict the right side of the stomach is fatal.
In the end Michael still wants to take his time, prolonging situations where he suggested to wait it out, while Alana wanted to take action immediately, being more decisive, seeing Michael didn't have much time left.
The series is really a gem. Can't wait for more projects involving Donald Glover and also Hiro Murai!

When all the smiths first met John 2 was asked about his hardest mission and talks about how “if you can learn to breathe, you control the earth” or some bs like that.
John 1 could’ve survived by pretending to be dead and controlling his breathing. it feels odd to have John 2 mention something significant and for the show not build off of it.

My wife and I devoured this season in two days, and loved it. We were sad that it was over seemingly so quickly, hope there’s a second season, with these characters, but I could also see the ending working as a limited series ending.

When I found out this project was co created and written by Glover one of the most creative and original artist out there I said sign me up. I immediately dismissed the criticism that swirled around it by people who were understandably tired of remakes and reboots. After watching the teasers and trailer my feelings were completely confirmed. I thought Francesca Sloan and Donald Glover created a spy world that was high stakes with its action as well as its relationship between Erskine’s Jane and Glover’s John. I loved the role their employer “the company” played in causing tension figuratively and literally and it left me wanting to learn more about the organization much like the “high table” did for the John Wick movies. Erskine and Glover’s chemistry was really rock solid and made the show, when they argued you felt it and when the were vulnerable and intimate you felt that too. I thought the way their relationship changed from strictly professional to intimate was organic and didn’t feel rushed or forced. There are two things this show didn’t do that I think has been a problem in a lot of modern movies and television which makes this show very watchable. First they paint a positive overall picture of relationships that put in the work, in this modern world where everyone is out for themselves even those within a relationship that was refreshing. Second they don’t tear down or dumb down one main character to elevate the other. Overall I hope there is at least one more season, they left enough bread crumbs to effectively make one in my opinion.

@@BrainPilotyeah, that might be interesting. Also, that is sort of what I think they were setting up in episode one with the two smiths killed right at the beginning. The person whole was lying in the grass and shot the Alex Skarsgaard - John seemed to be a woman, but you can’t tell if that was the Mya Ereskin -Jane or the Parker Posey - Jane, what with the ski masks and all. Definitely think they are planning to explore that later, since they didn’t touch it at all this season, or why else would they have such a well known talanted actor for just a 5 minute cameo. I guess it’s possible, but even with the other well known cameos, they had much more back story - sort of.

It was really good, very deep, meta, insightful, best reflection of stages of a relationship I've seen in ages, everything Donald Glover does is more than superficial, it has depth. Perfect season, there should never be any more, should be like a mini series, glad they are going thag route it seems anyway
The incongruity of the action genre with the relationship drama didn't hamper the series as much as I thought it would. I like the idea that they wrapped up these characters in a single season. I was intrigued by the cultish nature of the Smiths alluded to by "high risk" Smith assassins and hope the writers make that the core of any possible subsequent seasons.
Really want a season 2, absolutely loved this show

I read somewhere they might do a season 2 with different actors as new smiths. While this is interesting, im not sure if I can give up the amazing acting and chemistry from these 2.
I think its plausible Jane 1 shot jane 2, jane 2 shot and missed, and a few seconds later jane 1 finishes off jane 2 with her own gun, which is why there is a delay between the 2nd and 3rd flash.
Or jane 1 shot jane 2, and jane 2 shot bullets aimlessly as she fell to the ground.

Pilot and finale were great, everything in between was up and down. Interesting to see season 2, as Jane said she had a single shot left, but 3 shots rang, and the second two were somewhat delayed.

The last episode was directed by Donald Glover. You don't think he had a plan on characters' survival. Plus, the real estate agent found the door front open the following morning. I think Jane and John left the house.

The writing on this show was top tier. The subtle details in human behavior. The humor, the tension, the quirks (ie the fart scene). 10/10 story telling.

My prediction is this: we will get another season focusing on a different team of smiths, and they will eventually be forced to hunt down some rogue smiths. Those smiths? Alana and Michael. But Alana and Michael will have been collecting everything they could about hihi, and will try to convince the other Smiths to join them in toppling the company

Love the series.. I think the fact that the unit wasn’t clean and the door was open suggest that either/both Michael and Alana might have made it out alive because the agency wasn’t called to clean up the mess.

The show was actually pretty good.. This was the very first time that I actually binge watched all episodes of a show in one sitting.. Can't wait for season 2..

The ending three shots felt like Jane missed or didn’t kill Jane #2, Jane #2 then killed Jane, then the gap could be either John crawling to Jane, or Jane #2 dragging John out- followed by a single execution style shot (John would have to be outside the panic room for the last gunshot to reflect off the exterior windows in the end)
We can't forget that the other John is still alive but wounded, I think Jane got out..... shoots the other Jane, disarms her, shoots her again and then shoots the other John.

Donald Glover is brilliant when it comes to sound design. If you listen closely the first two shots sound the same but the last one is different meaning Jane fired the last shot because she only had 1 bullet!

All flashes were visible outside a window. In my opinion this implies Jane 1 shot Jane 2 acquired her firearm,&shot john 2. Saving our Jane & john for now. John 1 was critically injured and thus unable to move properly the last shot would not have been visible if he was killed. Also the cameras outside the panic room would give jane 1 the upper hand. Either way they saved their relationship relationship, and even if they’re gone thats a happy enough ending for me. 😊
One more thing. Amazon is going to pray they get another season watch.

I hoped there would be more, learning who Hihi was, and seeing them recover their relationship. But I think our Jane having missed her shot, and other Jane shooting her and John makes the most sense.
Maybe there will be a season two with a new pair but it’d feel very repetitive. Or maybe one or both survived but I doubt that too. I’d almost like to see John having survived, and both Jane’s took eachother out. John would definitely have the incentive to find Hihi and get revenge. Or he could get a new Jane and be resentful of her.
I mainly want John to survive because of his mom tho. The thought of her being alone is very sad to me. :(

Based of how it started in episode 1. If they have a season 2 it will probably be then on the run, the. Introduce new characters but still have them included throughout the season
It's really a great show. While I think it has a perfect closer for a 1-shot series, it also have plenty of potential to continue on. The problem is a LOT of the chemistry is Glover and Erskine and without them I really don't know if Glover can make it really work as just a director. So if I were to watch more I'd want to see those 2 in it.
On one hand, if I were trying to make more of the show I'd want them in it, but I'd want them to need to keep working missions and doing spy stuff. It wouldn't make sense for HiHi to take them back. So what I'd do is I'd take the angle that Bev, who worked for a rival agency, and did seem to actually like John, could have come back now that they were being severed from HiHi and 'recruit' them to her agency. Now there's a season where they have to work for Bev's team and deal with the drama between them and her, and the new organization.
Maybe not, I dunno. But that's an angle I'd explore if I was working on the show.
I just want watched the whole series this past weekend it was definitely great. One of the best shows I’ve seen this year.

If you look closely the flashes of the bullets fired are different. Since Jane 1 was carrying a pistol whereas Jane was carrying a heavy gun. The first bullet was from Jane 2 since the flash of the first bullet was much brighter. The second bullet however had a dimmer flash therefore it was from Jane 1's pistol and the third from Jane 2. And this probably means both Jane 1 and 2 were shot. It will only be interesting to see who survived in the next season.

If they survive, they can confront Hihi and perhaps considering escaping from the organization. The first episode were them attempting to do the same but failed since they didn’t keep in mind the Smithhunters.
Because they met the other Smiths, who happen to hunt Smiths, are there other Smiths? Or rival companies?
Will they continue to do missions. I think Hihi will ignore the current mission and treat the Smiths who died as a substitute for their own “High Risk” mission.
There’s a few questions that need answering like, Why are “Extremely High Risk” missions to target other Smiths?
Another question are the rival companies.
Since they are running away, can they apply to a rival companies to escape. They technically can’t escape so why not transfer jobs for protection?
They also mentioned Hihi being akin to a God being all-knowing so the investigation into their boss.
There’s much promise to the series.
You can tell from the gun flashes, Alana didn't fire first. Jane 2 was right there and fired off 2 rounds as soon as the for opened. That pause between the 2nd and 3rd shot. Alana fired the 3rd shot killing jane 2. People on this show will spray bullets as soon as a door opens, missing their target.
The caring has been kind of bad all the way until they laughed together in the bedroom in episode 4 about how weird the other couple was. That finally seemed like genuine acting.

This show had an unexpectedly profound emotional affect on me. The amazing chemistry between Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, along with the excellent dialog, made for a very genuine connection. This is going to sound weird, but one of my favorite scenes is when the two are in bed together and John accuses Jane of farting. LOL. Anyone who has ever been in a committed relationship has had that conversation with their partner. I couldn't stop laughing. Excellent writing. That scene also (for a moment) took some of the edge off of the constant threat to their lives. I got very attached to John and Jane, and their love for each other. That is why the final scene in the panic room actually made me cry. When I realized the inevitability of their situation, I wanted to throw my TV off the balcony. LOL. That being said, I loved this version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And I am glad that it was left open-ended.

Theory : At the beginning of the series we see them kill another John & Jane which is “Higher Risk”. If that’s the case. Did they basically spoil or confirm that there’s another season because they didn’t know that high risk meant killing other smiths till the end of the last episode.

Loved it cuz you didn’t know what you were to get each episode. Some were better than others, but collectively, the show is great. A good example that you don’t always get closure & get answers to all questions, but were thoroughly entertained!!!
I did not expect the show to be that good. It was great. It took the movie and made it a much more realistic story instead. The characters were all so realistic. I loved their sense of humor. I'm looking forward to the next season so badly, if there is one. I just can't see there being a second season (at least with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine) because it would entirely just be a show of them being on the run. There is little room for a character arc at that point.

Alana tells Michael to breathe in the last scene before the last shot. I think it’s a call back from the advice he got from the other John Smith, who says, “if you can do that (focus on breathing) you’ll survive anything,” or something like that. Then I think because of how the first couple goes out in the first episode where that Smith dies before the other fights back could mean it might end differently for our Smiths (Michael is at least still alive before Alana opens the door. It’s kind of a reversal of how the first couple ends up. I mean this is all speculation and Im cool with how it ends.
I believe they both died. In order to continue the series I believe they did so so they could do like a doctor who with season 2 with a whole new Jane and John and a new story. Also leaving the ending up for speculation so tht if they’re renewed for a season two they’re different avenues they can go with
I agree. It’ll be best if the show does come back but with a new John and Jane. I would prefer this John and Jane dying but if they aren’t, we have a few seasons of a new John and Jane and in season 3 these 2 are discovered removed in a remote location with a family.

i also felt like the most important dialogues happened in their down times, and not during the action scenes, which is outplayed so much in movies when the main characters are about to face off a real threat to their lives, i would not like to relate this point with the original movie where mr and mrs smith have a show down with the company. i think it was great at that time and was suited for my young taste in cinema and romance.
