there's part of me thats honestly concerned Aidan's gonna develop a psychoemotional complex bc he was playing a 60-67 year old man (with a bloodlust problem) trapped in a 15-22 year old's body for the better part of a decade
five and lila should of have gained a platonic relationship. Their dynamic wouldve been soo funny and cute. Five could’ve even talked to Lila and helped her reconcile her relationship with Diego. It would’ve completed Diego and Lilas arc while also reestablishing the love five has for his family thats often over looked
Yes! There was a similar plot line in a later season of Vampire Diaries. Two characters, male and female, who originally hated each other got stuck in a weird time place for some years (essentially the same plot actually). The characters became best friends instead of getting together and it made for a really heartwarming and refreshing storyline. It would have been so much better if the writers of Umbrella academy did the same. But nope.
I, for some reason, having gone through so much media obsessed with boy+girl= romance, still thought, it’s ua, of course they’re just going to deepen their friendship. Because how wonderful would that be? Because what else could possibly happen between five and his brother’s wife? No, but I was definitely terrified when I realized they were actually stuck. And then. The really gross thing happened. And I, honestly, couldn’t be surprised. I was, but I shouldn’t have been. I was simply a fool.
Luther casually getting over his wife, his gorilla body being linked to his powers. Finally the fact he can’t get another job despite being a leader of the umbrella academy as a child and being an astronaut for years was one of the biggest assassinations of character.
i hate that they dumbed him down. he was a literal astronaut!! he was smart maybe even the second smartest of his family after 5! and it would have been so cool to see him getting along with sloan even more by talking about physics and shit cuz her powers are so physics focused! but no, they literally turned him childish and dumb
100% agree. He don’t even try to apply anywhere else even though as an astronaut he was expected to maintain the entire vessel on his own. Thats before whatever science he was doing up there. I could have lived with him being a jaded tradesman who is destroyed after dying and losing his wife but nope. We got a gorilla brunch stripper. Thats before we even get into the others.
@@Raysting511 they also TREAT Diego like he's an idiot but never follow through with making him one. Lila and 5 basically make fun of him behind his back and don't think he is cut out for CIA work but then he's the one who figures out this whole thing centers around Ben. Literally he figures it out singlehandedly.
@@yung_wise5861 you just brought up another great point. Diego and Luther are portrayed as idiots yet they accidentally stumble upon the massive CIA secret in an afternoon. That five didn’t get a whiff of in years. The only stupid thing Diego did was not figuring out how to switch his radio off.
Also, it is 💯 possible to spend 7 years with a person and not develop romantic feelings for them. Especially if that person is your husband's brother who was only a child when you met your husband, and was also somehow the old man who murdered your parents in front of you when you were a little kid.
So, I looked this shit up. They can’t ever kill Jennifer. Any time they kill Jennifer she gets pulled into another timeline by Ben. That’s what happened in the timeline they were in, and why she popped out of a giant squid. In all of the timelines there is only one Jennifer getting hot potatoed by Ben.
@@mbrown7325 didnt stop Reginald from shooting kid jennifer in the face in the original timeline, also didnt stop him from wanting to kill her in this very season until Victor convinced him otherwise. If killing Jennifer is not an option then why does Reginald say that it is?
@@Flipitmixit right but you know how regi shot her in the end when she then got pulled into the other timeline in a giant squid? And regi never wanted to kill her in season 4, he wanted to kill Ben. Victor was trying to protect Ben. Ben had the attachment because (fan theory) when his power goes into the other universe to pull out the tentacles he kept touching Jennifer.
Season 1:"Fun insanity." Season 2:"Even more fun insanity." Season 3:"Some hiccups, but overall fun insanity." Season 4:"Ok, this is a joke, right? Where's the real final season? Guys?...Awww man." Such a banger of a show, why'd it have to go out on such a whimper? It doesn't even feel like the same writers.
The last episodes of season 3 were downgrade really fast, they were always just repeating characters flaws, no progress and the whole idea of killing Sloane is nuts
@@MrJayza89 I didn’t think it was that bad, I actually quite enjoyed it. But it was the weakest of the seasons prior to season 4. Mainly because it got a bit repetitive with the whole “the world is ending and we have to try to not hate each other and stop it” narrative. So when they ended season 3 how they did, I was looking forward to them maybe putting a different spin on things and focussing on mostly character development and filling in some holes. I always wanted to see the family at full strength mastering their powers and kicking ass. But no, they found away to repeat everything from the 1st 3 seasons but in a super frustrating and meaningless way. At least season 3 felt like it was paced correctly and for the most part made sense. This last season just made me mad.
they absolutely destroyed fives character. he went from a smart ass with quick quips who loves his family to someone who rarely smiles or talks but chooses a woman over his family. also not caring about the apocalypse whatsoever until the last 5 minutes
The Fives in the diner scene made me even more pissed. It goes to show that the Five we follow is far from the first but that known of the other Fives wanted to sacrifice themselves which st least one Five should have done
Yes and to add on, for a smart and family man like Five, it is out of character that he didn’t even think twice about his family or the consequences of having a romance with Lila. Sure it was 7 years and they didn’t know when they would escape, but he still cares about his family before anything else. So, the romance would have been nothing more than a distraction from saving his family. Even if it was Lila who initiated the romance, wouldn’t he stop to think, “Sorry but I can’t do this because you’re my brothers wife and my brother called me a ‘good brother’ (literally 3 episodes ago) so I would be betraying him and causing unnecessary conflict if we make it out of here.”
Here's the thing. It could have worked. With more time it could have been Five's one selfish moment and it didn't even need a romantic situation with Lila. Just him finally getting a chance to breath and have a drama free life and relationship with anyone. But they went with romance, there wasn't enough time to develop and the age gap. 7 years passes and he remains looking late teens. Beyond any ick factor (which I felt a bit) it just highlights the unrealism of it all. 7 years applied to a 20 year old body is going to change him. But Lila talks about grey hairs and Five looks 17.
I do get that 7 years together would make 5 and Lila get together, but there was no plot reason why the trains had to not work for 7 years in the first place. Diego's lesson at the CIA was that he shouldn't take his family for granted, then he dies. 5 gets the romance he was denied for 60 years, she rejects him and then he dies, while also hating and being hated by his brother. Klaus learns...to depend on his siblings? And then dies. These arcs served no purpose to the plot or to the character all season.
I'm in total agreement on Klaus. Three series' developing a really cohesive character development just to blow it all up. I think I'm one of a few who didn't mind the Five/Lila side story. They started out by being able to always get back to the same day in their current timeline, because Five was keeping track of the branch lines in his notebook. When he lost his notebook, they couldn’t figure out the way back. When he found his notebook he realised that he didn’t want to leave what had become a way of life with no threat of obliteration, so he let it carry on for another half year. And I can accept all of that, within the story arc and that seven years on the subway would allow a relationship to develop between them,. And while some people argue that Five having an affair with his Brothers wife is out of character, because he loves his siblings and has spent the previous three series' trying to save them (and the world) and so would not do anything to emotionally hurt Diego, the romance allows him the sentiment to let Lila blink the children and the extended family to the subway when faced with the undeniability that he and his siblings are going to need to die in order to preserve the true timeline. Having feelings for her meant that in the face of his family facing obliteration via The Cleanse, he could ensure that a part of it at least would be saved, in Lila and Diego’s children and Allison’s daughter. The end justifying the means. It would’ve needed MUCH more than one episode to explore this fully though, to get the audience completely on side. As it stands, series 4 is just too short to allow for anything to make much sense, the giant squid is just one example. I think the series 3 ending was pretty good in terms of where we left the siblings and the matter of what they did afterwards, with no powers and having to make new lives for themselves, left to our imaginations.
We also never get Lila's answer on whether she wants to be with 5 or if she chooses Diego because she chooses Diego. That whole subplot was stupid cause Diego gets told he should stay and be there for his family then Lila has a secret romance but isn't given a definitive answer on what to do nor does she give one. It feels like she's picking Diego out of circumstance and that just makes me wonder, "why not leave". Then you have 5 being in the middle of all of this as the person who bangs his brother's wife while the multiverse is ending.
Also, no explanation why the subway did that and it's really convenient that they find the book that answers all of the questions in the one universe where they decide to settle. Why wasn't this subplot about the functions of the subway and having Lila get taken to different timelines by different 5s but she isn't aware that those 5s are different? Then, you've eased us into the fact that there is this army of 5s trying to save the multiverse. Instead, we have a cheating sub plot and then it ends basically because of serendipity and happens because of serendipity.
@@yung_wise5861 I don't really need a deeper explanation of the subway, I'm happy to accept that within the Umbrella's world there is an underground infrastructure that keeps track of branching timelines and allows access to them (if only you know where to look!). But the multi-Five diner came out of left field and I would have liked the writers to have explored that for longer. I like the idea of Lila running into different Five's but not realising.
@@MsGrockle yeah that's more so what I mean. Figuring out the cool things it can do as the different 5s take her around. What junctions go where? Have any of them been able to find the original timeline? But, as you said, that storyline comes out of fuckin nowhere.
And the fact that this whole show happens because Reginald wanted to get his wife back and we never really see them together or their back story. Like why did he go through all that just to bring her back. We needed to see their story and their relationship and we barely got anything from them.
not only that, but we NEVER got ANY explanation for Reginald and Abigail being fucked alien things, what exactly happened to their world, or how marigold/durango actually work. the Hargreeves backstory needed to get explained
@@that_guy1186 I'm wondering if the writers are trying to set up a spin-off for Reginald because of how much they've hinted at his home world being vaguely important
@@that_guy1186 they do explain their world got destroyed because Abigails creation of marigold and (unknowingly) Durango. It causes a cataclysm which they somehow escape (even though its supposed to destroy the universe, so then theyre not aliens as much as they are interdimensional travellers?)
@@danybernal8918 that hardly explains anything, though. Edit: we also know Reginald and Abigail are basically immortal and have advanced space travel technology, so i dont think its too far off to say they’re inter-dimensional travelers, but if that was the case why wouldnt Reggie just travel to a different dimension with Abigail after reviving her? also, the timeline reset would assumedly work on all of existence, so why didnt he reset it to before Abigail done fucked everything up?
that kids gonna have trauma. he met the actress for lila when he was still 13/14 and has now had to make out with her on camera. shes 15 years older than him irl. why tf did the writers do that
@@mothdotslot As far back as season 2 (when the actor was literally 14 😀) they pushed sexual tension between five and other adult characters/actors. I looked past it when I was younger.. but holy fuck.. it’s so on the nose. Steve Blackman wanted to defy the classic (yet disturbing) young girl paired with an old dude romance in media and hazel X Agnes just wasn’t enough I guess. There’s just no way Gabriel and Gerard are at all happy with this ending.
It really says a lot about the decision making of the writers lmao. Imagine getting told what your character will do and you just laugh in desbelief thinking it's a joke. Poor actors.
@@ender5892 I feel so bad for actors. You can put in so much work, so much effort, and so much love, then your writer can just fuck up at the end and your show sucks forever.
The actor who plays Diego came out on a podcast and said they they were paid less than 10k on each episode. They hardly made ANY money off of this show. The actors started demanding more money (which is completely fair). So even though the show was successful they decided to cut episodes and end it early. The actors KNEW this and so they went into IDGAF mode as did the show writers. They essentially all just wanted to get it over with. Had the money been fair and plentiful, had enough time been allotted, had they the hope of future success working on this show... than things might have ended properly. But here we are.... so sad to see an absolute gem turn out this way.
This season just oozes of "old man" energy. The fat jokes, the "male SA for laughs" jokes, the odd teenage dream of hooking up with your sister in law? Baby shark and vomit? it was all so out of touch
And Diego took his shirt and he was still pretty gd jacked, they did something similar for Anthony Mackie in a Black Mirror episode. Like dude's got abs kinda hard pull the joke when hes in the same shape he was in the last three seasons.
Honestly without the “cliff hanger teases” in the end of s3 it would’ve been very poetic to end there. This is a super hero story and since they’re not hero’s anymore that’s it they live their lives
honestly that’s what i THOUGHT they were going to do in this season, because it made so much sense even thematically for the topic of abuse. they left their old lives with harlan behind, their powers (and thus their trauma) being mere memories that can’t hurt them anymore. i thought this season was going to be “we have no powers & we’re in a weird new world oh god. oh hey we got our powers back!!! wait actually i realize im actually worthy as a human just existing, not what i can provide for the world & what my abusive father WANTED of me. maybe this is actually how we survive, and be a real annoying and messed up healing family.” and they essentially do a power sucking thing and that fixes the world ending scenario because the /marigold/ was what was causing the world ending every time, not them. even just make the bennifer monster marigold sucking, and when it does get all of it in the world, they go back to normal & the universe is righted, two halves of a whole reunited and the balance restored. it makes sense with the mirror imagery we constantly got from the bennifer scenes, they were always mirroring each other as two halves of the same plane. make it some metaphor about how too much of one thing is what causes the toxic cycles (and the world ending) but when they’re balanced and healthy together everything is fine
@@misterhandsome2238 yes. Maybe a epiloge Episode with funndy scenes from their New lived with developed family dinamic. And thats it. Would have been the perfect end. Especially because there was just 3 comic books. So why 4 seasons?
Umm, Umbrella Academy only had 3 seasons. I refuse to believe it continued after the amazing end of Season 3. It's a shame it was left on a cliff hanger, but that's how it goes sometimes
@@MangoSmoothy Season 3 was terrible, granted not as bad as season 4 but still. I gave them the benefit of doubt because of COVID and a certain hard to deal with cast member.
Five and Diego fighting while everything else was going down was so annoying, it was even boring. The world is ending and two of the men NEED to fight over a woman, when all of them would die? Ugh.
I absolutely hate what the writers did with Klaus this season. He was one of, if not the best written and developed characters of the entire show and they threw it away because... reasons idk. For example, back in s1 when he went back in time to the vietnam war, and met Dave, fell in love with him and started getting slowly better because of him, because of love. And when he lost Dave, he went back to drvgs. That plotline was so heartbraking, and yet so beautiful to see. There are so many things the writers could have explored in relation to Klaus, but instead they decided to dismiss his development and make him, drug addiction and OCD a joke that was not even funny.
Eh, I don’t entirely agree. As a struggling addict thats on and off, Klaus trying to stick to routine and going back when its broken hits home. People want to pretend addiction will come back when something bad happens but i actually really like this depiction where it can happen from anything. Klaus pushing everyone away because he knew he would hurt them when he relapsed hit home pretty hard. The problem is that they didn’t convey it well or have any real payoff. And him blaming Alison was also kinda stupid. But apart from that i like how he became a clean freak and his relationship with Alisons daughter. Also am i crazy or did they retcon alison being much closer to klaus??? She said she would always look after him but literally when tf did that ever happen between them
@@demifolk8940 I would agree with you if it weren't for the fact that in the previous season had him confront the many issues he had with his powers and finally mastering them. The reason he turned to drugs was because of his fears of his powers. Him going all the way back to season 1 Klaus kinda destroyed his character development.
Klaus was hard to take seriously. He 'died' in the first season as a result of the apocalypse (as witnessed by Five during his flashback), but then in season 3 we got Klaus comes back to life as his real power. And he always had that power, he died multiple times in his youth (according to season 3), but it came across like a retcon. And yet, as you say, he was a really good character and had the best arc, along with the original Ben (and even his evolving friendship with the Sparrow version of Ben). I'm not a fan of retcons when they contradict an ability or character trait. If he had developed his ability to come back from the dead as a result of his training with Reginald, that would have worked, but all that happened (if I remember right) was it shortened the time it took him to revive himself.
(Season 4 Klaus spoiler ahead) - They couldn’t even have him come into his own by letting him break free of the grave on his own! All that character and skill development in the previous season and for what? While in the grave we hear him recall Hargreaves saying he’s a warrior and he’s trying and then bloody Alison comes to the rescue instead because the writers couldn’t be bothered writing a plotline for Alison for when everyone pairs off to do their thing. Luther and Diego got equal weight/screentime in their paired trip, Ben and Jennifer were equals in their couple trip, Five and Lila were also equals in theirs, but they couldn’t write a good one for Klaus+Alison so Klaus got a half-assed story, Alison pretty much no story, and Klaus got stuck with having his ending tainted by Alison coming to his rescue because Alison didn’t have anything else to do.
I can understand why they kept it, dismal though it is. Five realised he would always be alone, and this dismal realisation overrode his previously extremely strong survival drive.
@@alanpennie8013 that just seems like a reason why the love story is not necessarily out of character for five but doesn't justify the writers adding that side plot in the first place. There wasn't enough time to resolve any of the issues created by it causing the ending to fall completely flat because all you can think about is how lila/diego/five are all dying hating or upset with each other from unresolved issues that didn't need to be created and took time away from resolving other already existing issues.
Genuinely just sighed and began crying when Lila and 5 started kissing in the greenhouse. I was so expecting some cute “we had problems but we made it through and now we’re better for it” or something for Lila and Diego but instead she just confirms his fears and cheats on him 😕

Poor Diego too....
They briefly touched on it when his wife spoke about how she was upset he brought marigold from their planet to this one but we definitely deserved more of an explanation
It bothers me that if it wasn't for Diego's daughter watching the news when the love triangle argument was happening, the majority of the academy wouldn't have a clue that the cleanse was still on.
EXACTLY!! especially for the characters who were raised as child soldiers, abused, and never allowed much agency in their own lives?? "sorry! actually you're the problem and the world would be better off without you!" wtf
The s4 writers didnt only forget what was told in earlier seasons, they also forgot what they wrote themselves in earlier episodes. Like why was diego called fat and then shown off to have a lean body??
Because americas self announced world leaders in hollywood and what not wants to screw the self image of every man right now... They f'd up the women. Now they want to f up the men even more... And i'm not even kidding. Many influencers are going the direction of trying to push the narrative of men not looking good unless they look like the Liver King... And many seems to be directly attacking the dad bod. Which has been popular among girls for a couple of years now. Women wanting that natural man with the time on his hands to take care of her instead of taking care of his own physique.
The biggest example of this is Lila and 5 being stuck in a multitude of different timelines for SEVEN FUCKING YEARS, and then in the last episode saying, "So it is true. There are other timelines!", with a look on her face like a toddler who knows they are going to get a treat for being clever. I almost punched the tv.
I thought he gained a little bit o weight when he did have no powers and then the powers reversed him back to his body. I think it is similar to luther having his ape body. It's terrible writing but I think that is the reasoning
I completely hated the ending. Not only is there no real closure because the characters we watched and were attached to cease to exist. There was also no answer as to what’s stopping Reginald from doing this all again? He still has the marigold and he now has no memories/knowledge of what will happen when he releases it, so wouldn’t he just release it again?
@@slantos2668 Yeah but so did everyone and they all were in the new world. So Regi should be as well. Only the people who had Marigold in them did not respawn.
I'd also like to point out how their powers are suddenly just universally called "marigold" when that was literally only what Harlan called it? They even dub over Reginald simply calling it "particles" in the S3 finale to have him say Marigold.
Literally and he only called it that because it reminded him of the flower but apparently abigail already named it marigold which is weird unless they have the same flower on their home planet?
What the fuck was Durango then? Me and the mrs mentioned this too and we speculated that there was a ton cut from the final season that would have greatly expanded on all of these half baked plot points, I guess your main weapon/driving force for the plot having a sex change could make writing the character a challenge 😂
steve blackman saying that the five/lila thing was bound to happen is also weird to me because the circumstances didnt really have to occur at all. saying "of course they would develop romantic feelings for each other after seven years" falls flat when the only plot reason that they even got stuck was to set up the romance. you can't say it was inevitable like your hands were tied when there was no reason to even make them get stuck in the first place. if five and lila had not been alone and stuck for seven years, the only plot difference would be that there was no fivela.
I don't think they needed 7 years at all, there was always a spark between them, they were so similar and respected each other. She was already getting close to Five, was actively sneaking off with him and had told Diego that the end was on the cards - they had had a toxic relationship from start to finish. As for all the other oddities in the relationship, odd relationships are the norm in this series - Alison & Luther, Hazel & the granny, the Vanya/Sissy/Carl love triangle, they seem to be open to anything.
The writer justifying Five and Lila because they were together for 7 years is so dumb. Bro, you're the one who wrote that. That's like justifying crashing someone else's car because the wall you hit damaged the car. Bro, you're the one who hit the wall.
People have friends and can live with members of the opposite sex for whole lifetimes without making them cheat on their partners. Wild no one's told the writers that
Right?! It's not even like there was anything about the Season 3 cliffhanger or other aspects of Season 4 that made that subplot feel inevitable. They went entirely out of their way to craft that situation, and then threw up their hands and said "well, what can you do? This is how characters would act in this situation!"
Klaus' b plot was most likely inspired from a mini part in the comics. He was a sex slave to pay for his drug addiction to a group of bikers & he ended-up swindling a lady about the whereabouts of her husband's "treasure". (I guess) The scene really doesn't work in the tv show since it's post-addiction where he just went through so much development. It felt like a massive step backwards & completely out of character even for Klaus.
It looks like they whanted to add as much of the comics as possible in the last season. Allisons fall from actress to just playing cheap roles is from another sidestory of Klaus, but from another Charakter. Beniffer eating the city is just the Villain Terminal in Hotel Oblivion.
Exactly! Klaus being a sex slave would have worked so well in S1 to further show truly messed up he was before he got control of his powers in S2-S3 and became sober in S4.
How I would have written Klaus this season: - After gaining his powers, his fear of the dead comes back to haunt him once again since he's now not used to seeing them. -Yes he could still have challenges with addiction but since the development of sobriety he instead tries to manage his powers back in a much sober headspace. - Claire and Klaus could have been a good duo in his development with his powers as Claire will help his uncle Klaus be a good guy that he is with her. In a way, that Claire could be the inspiration to keep Klaus going with his sobriety. -Leading him to again manage his fears of the dead and channels a different form of power to help defeat the potential end of the world. (He has such potential of being a bigger superhero)
I would argue an equally troubling aspect of that plot is that they played the whole thing for laughs, because everyone knows there's nothing funnier than SA/R as long as it's happening to a guy. It's especially bad considering they already made questionable choices in S3 when Allison used her powers on Luther and it was just completely brushed over, you'd have thought they might have learnt something from that but clearly not. I'm just really fed up of people majorly misunderstanding issues of consent.
As soon as the thug saw Klaus come back to life I thought it was going to go real dark and have him charge people to kill him for fun, I thought that would be exactly what Klaus was most afraid of and why he would go back onto drugs, but instead the thug wants to use his ghostly powers, except gives him drugs, which should prevent that. I thought it a terrible shame that the only time Klaus was clean he was deemed lame then he instantly relapsed, didn’t make any progression and then kills himself with the others.
YES that's another plot hole I noticed right away. Klaus used to do drugs so he would not see the ghosts, then why is he able to see the ghosts now while being on drugs all of the sudden?
In the opening of season two he had super jump, but for some reason that never was touched upon afterwards. I hate this season bruh it’s making me so angry
It's literally like they hired a bunch of new writers who never watched the show, showed them a montage of season 1 and then were like "You get it, right? You can finish this"
Pretty much my biggest issue with the lila/five plot line too. Even if you think their relationship makes sense in the scenario they were put in, there was still no need for it, it adds nothing, takes away time that could've been spent tidying up other plot points and then we're somehow supposed to fully connect with the sad ending of a dysfunctional but loving family when really we're all screaming inside about how they're dying hating each from unresolved issues that didn't need to be created.
@@emmao6578 this exactly. I liked them but I wish they had a meaning in the story. All that happend was five dying thinking no one ever really loved him. Worse even that Starlight only argued abt him "sleeping" w that skinwalker instead of seeing what it truly was : SA. I dont understand how this was the path the writers thought was the best
I honestly got the impression that someone making major creative decisions was just completely obsessed with Lila. 99% of her material this season has pretty much no bearing on the plot, but somehow the conclusion hinges entirely on her decision (and her emotional connections to characters that she has absolutely no meaningful screen time with) and she gets the big sacrificial hero moment with the train doors. Then, in the final scene with The Umbrellas, she is the character who gets the final line. I've actually always liked Lila, but this just felt so wrong to me.
@@Nite-Mite As far as I can hear, Klaus says, "You know, I just wanna say, I love you guys... but you are all a**h*les." and Lila replies, "F*ck you," and then there's no further dialogue in that scene. But if there's something else said that I don't hear, then maybe? I just remember thinking... out of all these characters, that's the decision that was made??
The kids should have never been added. They just did it to trap Lila and Diego together because that’s the only thing that brought her back in season 3. Wich could have been any different reason but no!!! If they would have split up over the 6 years and it showed how love sick Diego was but then he moved on and how Lila moved on also, it would have made five and hers storyline so much less messy and way sweeter. Not wierd. I just feel like the writers needed to trap them together to create drama when her and five ended up falling in love. I also hate how they never really resolved their issues and died with loose strings. The whole season was rushed and horrible They could have changed so much. For how unhinged the show is and how insane, I was expecting a crazy plot twist ending where everything was because of something or someone unexpected but instead it was boring and cliche. So so predictable.
Worth mentioning that the Keepers did literally nothing? We spent a lot of time developing them as an organized threat, and the big payoff was the group guarding a building that the umbrellas break into with almost zero effort. That said - Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally are always a delight to watch.
This is a good point. They looked very threatening when they were picking up weapons and blocking the streets. Then they did absolutely nothing because the final episode had to be all about The Hargreeveses.
also Jean and Gene both died before we got to know pretty much anything about them. Yeah, they founded the cult after they had memories from the other timelines, but why are they these weird and crazy cold killers? What did they imagine of the cleanse? How did they even know it was a thing? I expected at least one solid flashback-episode for them, but we got nothing.
So the implication is that Diego did get a beer belly but that the marigold brought back his abs, like how it brought back Luther's ape body. David Castaneda confirmed this in an interview. It's still terrible writing though since every person has been confused about this.
I think the worst aspect of the season is that if you think about the rhetoric of the plot for more than 15 seconds you realize the main final message of the show, intentional or not on the part of the writers, is that if you cause a problem, you should just unalive yourself.
guys, this isn't normal world, it's some sci fi shiit, in this case their existence really was the problem, totally not their fault, daddy's to blame, but as long as they exist there are all those timelines with apocalypse and weird stuff happening
What I hate about the ending is that in my opinion, it's the LAST ending the show should've had. A show revolving around victims of child abuse by a stern, strict. father, wanting to grow and escape that trauma and live out their lives happily, only to be told everything is their fault and they should cease to exist to solve everything doesn't really sit right with me. Especially since Five's entire storyline is about trying to stop the apocalypse and save his family. The fact that he literally CAN'T do that and it's IMPOSSIBLE ruins his entire journey for me. These characters were all about survival, to see the light at the end of the tunnel, only for none of them to. It feels terrible.
Only for none of them to WHILE all their children do survive, creating the paradox they were trying to avoid. It's so annoying. I hadn't thought about the "children of abuse being told they should cease to exist to solve everything" and it makes me understand SO MUCH MORE why this ending bothers me so much.
@@Jstaman But wasn't only really prevalent in this season? I don't recall him being like that in Season 3 until Reggie "convinces" them all to go into the hotel.
I feel like the tragic ending of them finding out there was absolutely nothing they could do to stop the apocalypse- -would have actually been a really brutal and interesting ending, if it was executed properly.
S4 was so extremely BAD. I can't bear it. S1 was a MASTERPIECE and had exactly the right kind of quirkiness. S3 was already dropping in quality A BIT, but nothing like the dumpster fire that is S4 :< Honestly, why does Netflix hate its movies and shows q.q I love how u put Five and Lila as well as Ben and Jennifer together. S4 has many bad plot points and decisions. But those two pairings were the utter worst. The end of S3 should have been the true ending. Sure there would have been a lot of open questions, but still. I'd take that over the finale of S4 anytime and I will pretend S4 never happend.
1:40 I just realized the only reason Ben went on the mission and died was because Reginald pushed for him to… on the mission that he knew would be specifically hazardous to only him…
something literally NO ONE has mentioned that destroys the whole plot of season 4, is the fact that Ben claims he doesn't know Jennifer despite their being drawings of her in his room in season 3, people may say this is Victor envisioning original Ben's room, and if that were true, how would original Ben have known who Jennifer was considering he was murdered right after meeting her.
@whatsyourname9581 why try and make sense of something that isn't meant to make sense. If the writers couldn't be bothered to explain don't try and explain their sloppy writing for them
My issue with the marigold is we see some of left in the bottle.. BUT THEN WE NEVER SEE THE BOTTLE AGAIN! I was so sure Allison's daughter was going to find it and give herself powers and that was going to be a big thing
LMFAO I wanted to see that too so bad expect I thought that Diego and Lila’s kids could have gotten into it since they’re more younger and accidentally drank it or something then got powers 💀also how is them ceasing to exist curing the world when in the beginning seasons it says there were other kids with powers that Reggie never adopted 💀like what about them? Did they die in the end of the world or were still alive like??
@jeslynscorner I thought it'd be Claire bc I was so sure it was heading into some kind of "all the adults are busy/captured and Allison won't save Klaus so I have to" and then literally nothing happened!! And yeah they never really explain Marigold very well and so I guess they were never born in this reality since the others were coded in? But they don't EXPLAIN that, and there's only 7 flowers at the end!! It could have been so easily offhandedly mentioned at some point but apparently Luther's wife WAS supposed to exist somehow in this world!?!?!
It showed. They had absolutely no chemistry in those scenes. If it was that uncomfortable to watch, I can only imagine how much worse it was for them to have to perform it.
Another commentator mentioned that Aidain would have been about 14 or 15 at the start of Umbrella Acadaemy, he was a young teenager and grew with the other actors, Meanwhile Ritu is around 15 years older than him. They knew each other more as siblings in real life.
@@ptonpc yeah they knew, the main show runner apparently wanted this plot since the beginning of the show, another show ruined by a show runners kink and weird fetish smh
In my opinion this season needed to focus on sir Reginald. Bc that’s really the point of it all. He’s the reason they are dysfunctional and cause countless apocalypses. Also we need to know more about him and his wife, bc that’s his primary motivation. And at the end of the season, if there is a “final sacrifice.” It would have been way more impactful if it was sir Reginald. Instead of character assassination (clause regressing, the love triangle etc.) to force plot filler, Reginald’s development would have been great.
Facts I literally thought that’s where they were going I thought it was going to be like the kids vs Reginald in his alien form as the final episode they could have even made it that he had time traveling information so they could have properly reset the timeline or something considering Reginald always is at the center of the umbrellas struggle
I had to stop before Netflix sent me to the next episode, I was baffled, I had to look up the ending right away and thank fuck cus it saved me from wasting my time.
The idea of the umbrella academy having different powers - or switching powers would be fucking fascinating. now that you mention it, im pissed they didnt do any of that
i'm just so appalled that i show i loved for being so smartly and concisely written, could end with such garbage. undoing character development, introducing entirely new plot elements that had nothing to do with anything previously seen, the addition of the multiverse (which completely tears apart the logic of the first 3 seasons), and finally ending the show with a grandfather paradox (the looming threat of season 3). it's just insulting that this is what they left us with.
Oh my god! I genuinely thought I was the only one thinking about how they created a grandfather paradox!!! Why would the writers go back on their own words like that???
6:38 all the umbrella academy didn't get their marigold sucked dry. Allison didn't have hers ripped from her. This is another plot hole with the season
it pains me to see one of my favorite shows of all time, get such a bad spin ending, the actors and fans deserved better than what they got, it’s clear that Netflix was done with this show
I was genuinely drawn in by the story and the characters, my interest gradually decreased with the seasons passing, but the actual nail in the coffin for me was the roadtrip scene, my interest completely disappeared when I saw that characters puking with baby shark playing on the background is what the series had come to, I stopped watching as soon as I realized that, and the rest of the writing or acting hadn't been great at all by that point
I still don't understand why Abigail couldn't just go give Jennifer some merigold and start the cleanse herself. She can shapeshift/body snatch. Just do that to one of the people that Jen trusts in the town and give her merigold? There's no reason the Umbrellas have to get reeled into it other than that they are the main characters.
if her entire reasoning was to get rid of the marigold, why not give it to some animal and then kill the animal?? then jennifer wouldn't have to die either cuz there would be no marigold to interact with her daringo. also why didnt reggie remake his new reality WITHOUT marigold and daringo??
@@adisaster8734 literally any other thing could have happened but the writers wanted the hargreeces to gave the marigold to force them to kill themselves
It had the GoT problem: they ran out of comics to adapt. The original series is on hiatus. Hollywood needs to stop adapting unfinished works that inevitably lead to hack tv writer endings.
Ok, this season 4 was terrible, ok. But still I think there is a way to save the show if a season 5 is possible. Now imagine season 5: only one episode, 10 minutes, just Aidan Gallagher. The episode starts with Five on a sofa watching the ending of season 4. He started complaining about all the terrible choices they made for the show and sadly states "They ruined our show and there is nothing to about it", but then smiling "...or is it?". Now Five got closer to a wardrobe, he opens it and inside there is a suitacase. - Blue flashlights - Now Five is now in a room alone and he stands in front of a laptop. On the screen he can notice the file "Umbrella Academy - season 4 - script". He deletes it. - Blue flashlights - Now Five is on the sofa again and, looking at his tablet he read the news: "Netfilx decided to cancel season 4 of Umbrella Academy". He smiles. Pogo's voice: "And that's how Five saved the universe from something much worse than the end of the world" THE END
Having baby shark as a music choise was the only evindence I needed to realize this season was dead from the start... the stuck tape gag was salt to injury... wasn't funny in HIMYM either and that wasn't yesterday... Abandoning Klaus was one of their biggest mistakes...for me he was the best character. Funny on the surface, possibly the deepest traumas on the inside, decent character development in the previous seasons - he could have been a huge help for the remaining siblings facing their own struggles him being already out on the other side if they didn't reduce him back into the addict box. Lastly about the Fivela storyline....as first I tried to talk myself into being okay with it like....this could have been an enemies to lovers or something considering how when Lila came into the story first literally her only task has been killing him...but 1. it makes no sense after her storyline with Diego, 2. brings in an unnecessary tension that never gets solved, 3. is weird considering the 15 years age gap of the actors (Gallagher 20, Arya 35), 4. is even weirder considering the sibling-like relationship and ~28 years age gap between the characters (Five 64, Lila around 36) +1. what about Delores being the only love of Five's life? :D it was just wrong on sooooooooo many levels... T.T I started watching it with my brother... finished it without him and told him I heard a romour season 4 never happened. It got cut after season 3.
@@caity613 I feel like I need to see a pregnant Luthor now, ape body and all... Oooh! GIANT ape body! Oh god, now I'm seeing better season ideas in youtube comments instead of on the show
I also really hated the 'gag' that Diego is fat and Luther getting his monkey body back. Both are huge/obvious continuity errors. Luther's is more a terrible writing choice, but Diego's makes absolutely NO sense. I could've seen it working if he got ripped after he got his powers back somehow (even if that is lazy). But they made/showed fat jokes _after_ he got them back and then he's just magically ripped? Utter non-sense.
Damn, I forgot about those two things for a moment. It really paints a pretty nasty picture when you combine the body shaming of Diego and Luther with the way they trivialise SA of male victims in Klaus's storyline. It's shitty to treat these things as fine or even funny only when done to guys and it also suggests to me that they don't understand what's actually wrong about these things, that they're probably only avoiding doing the same thing to women because of "woke" culture rather than because it's the right thing to do.
I was genuinely cringing when the living room Christmas scene and the Diego Five subplot was happening. It was incredibly unneeded and did 0 for the story but make a sub plot in the LAST episode to cause internal conflict, but all it did was leave a bad ending for a good portion of the cast.
exactly, I keep seeing people trying to justify it by saying it actually isn't super out of character as they were there 7yrs and didn't think they'd ever find their family again but that's still not a reason for writers to keep the storyline in a season short on time with no room to resolve existing loose ends let alone a whole new side plot that adds absolutely nothing.
I adore 5 the most... Having him cheat with Lila, I skipped ahead, it was verboten to watch it. Disavow! Diego did not deserve that. 5's charm is that he is a grouchy old man in a child's body. Him having a thing with Lila was so uncomfortable. I am a sucker for a happy ending, so them just all ceasing to exist made me so deeply annoyed and disappointed. Diego is so handsome, the fat jokes made no sense, unless they were just teasing him? I hated Ben's personality this season... He was so unlikeable. So glad you mentioned Nathan from Misfits, that show was incredible~ and Robert playing Nathan and then Klaus was funny to me.
To me, Lila and Jeniffer don’t add up nothing to the story, felt like a waste of time and a joke. It started fading away when they put Lila as a umbrella too
My wife heard that shit from the other room and asked me ''WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WATCHING?'' and I just replied with ''I....dont know🤔'' It was very funny tho
I am so confused about Klaus' first encounter with the drug dealer. Everything about the way he was acting made it seem like his entire purpose was to get shot by the guy. Like Kalus had some secret plan. Maybe fake his own death to get out of the money he owed? But there was just nothing at all.
i feel like that's what was supposed to happen, the biker wasn't supposed to come back for his sunglasses and see klaus reanimate. either way it was a really stupid way to cause klaus' plot!
@@undeath even then, the biker is like "this guy is immortal, I'm going to use him as a sex slave". How did he even know that dead people could posses him? It didn't make any sense.
I was so confused with that scene overall. Like, why did he even do it? I thought he wanted to get drugs out of it but he didn't even try. Also the drug dealer was never mentioned before, and Klaus lived peacefully for years, went out in public without powers, so it's not like the guy was chasing him down for cash and Klaus had to pretend to be dead to escape. And where's the money&tv he stole from Allison??
wow, the powers segment really opened my eyes to how badly they actually handled giving them all powers again. i thought it was fun seeing similar elements implemented in different ways, i hadn't thought enough about how lazily they changed things. lila gets her original power back AND a new one! before we found out she can still mimic i just figured it was a play on her essentially having everyone else's power, so now she gets one singular power that's all her own. but no! that would be too clever and make too much sense!
I think everyone was supposed to get an upgrade to their powers. Luther isn't just strong, but also invulnerable, Diego's probability control makes him impossible to hit with a bullet, Allison no longer needs to speak to control people, Klaus can fly now randomly, Lila isn't just a mimic but also has a power she can do alone. Five was the only one who seemed to have lost his original ability. I think the worst new power shown was Klaus'. They sidelined him so hard this season that we didn't even learn his new power until it was already too late to stop the apocalypse. And he didn't even get a cool moment with it. He contributed nothing.
@@L2Sentinel we found out Luther is invulnerable in season 2, in the 5 intro sequence he gets shot by an artillery round from a tank and just shakes it off. if anything, it seems like his powers were more, well, powerful, when he was a kid. the scene with the bank robbery in season one is one of the more impressive feats of strength we see from him in the entire show, throwing an adult man 20+ feet in the air and through a window as a ≈12 year old. he could have had so much more development in his powers, especially after becoming a weird monkey hybrid. also, in the finale we find out 5 can still jump normally, it just appears to be much, much more difficult for him. its kind of backwards though, because he very easily jumped back in time, which was previously the "evolution" of his power and very difficult for him. i hate how they handled powers this season.
Bro, put some of the blame on the douchebag Page for basically screwing up several storylines by transitioning without telling any of them behind the scenes. They even admitted that it fucked up a lot of what they had planned out and had to do a big U-turn going forward. Just another reason why they are blacklisted from the industry at large as Page is a simply a problem behind the scenes.
@@ScuffedF People like Page & many others has always been a problem for the industry. Like I don't care if your transitioned personally but the character who you are playing isn't & you are not gonna force your agenda on that character because of "representation". They've really should've kicked Page out & replace for a different actress.
@@ScuffedFyou are literally just spreading transphobic garbage and making shit up. there are interviews and literal records both of the showrunners stating that viktor's transition could easily be written into the show without impacting the rest of the plot, and elliot page having told the showrunners before then that he would be completely willing to keep playing a woman in the show if it was required of him. it was the showrunners who decided to take that step in order to support him, completely of their own will. not to mention, viktor's transition mainly took place in s3 and had nothing to do with any other ongoing storylines that season, and s4 is the season that's garbage, mainly because of obvious network interference that has absolutely nothing to do with anyone being trans.
Nah your just hating Season 3 was good not 2 or 1 but good could've done with 2 more episodes but the last couple of episodes a part from 1 plotline were great.
Honestly, this season destroyed the entire show for me since it basically erases everything that happened. Its the Dallas, "it was all just a dream", all over again. This has just convinced me to never start a new streaming show ever again until the entire series has wrapped.
The drama felt so contrived. The apocalypse scenarios as well. It always has to happen? There's no version of reality where everyone can be level-headed? 5 and Diego really needed to fight in the middle of a world ending scenario? Lila seemed like the kind of person who steps on glass that isn't in her way because it would be something interesting to do.
@@dylanwong123 I hope so too. But we know how Netflix works. Everything is great at the beginning and then after a while they let the guy who usually gets the napkins write the finale. Netflix doesn't give a damn about the consistency of a series and its fans. They just want to quickly generate the next House of Cards in order to have attractive content. That is unfortunately a fact.😒
My issue is that even if it did make sense, based on the scenario they put the characters in, it still didn't add anything to the story and took a lot away from it, including the fact that connecting emotionally with the ending was completely impossible as diego/lila/five are all dying hating each other from an unresolved plot line that didn't need to happen.
but they were the only people there in a different universe (except some guys that sometimes attacked them?). I can understand the loneliness and wanting some love
Lately I have been spending a lot of time rewatching S3 of Umbrella Academy S3 is honestly so much fun I love the umbrella and sparrow feud, the embracing of chaos, the beautiful and masterpiece that was the apocalypse wedding and the final climatic fight in the hotel obsidian Rewatching S3 makes me see more how S4 was lackluster in a number of areas
Season 3 was horrible, we had Allison's progression be destroyed for no reason. Vanya becomes Victor for honestly a very shallow reason (in writing, they could've portrayed some more progression for vanya before she transitioned at least). I should've and kinda did know that the show went to shit after the episode of Allison r**in,g Luther 🤦♂️
I think i have a really upopular opinion but the serie has gotten worst every season, the first was amazing and i loved it but from the second on is almost like the show choose to immediatly flanderize their characters , not only they chose to retcon the end of the first season and take the easy way of scatter the siblings in different years and an annoing amnesia plot but they at least covered it up with stilish sets and interesting side characters and a good soundtrack and touching moments (even if they could be more and more relevant) but the characters loose their progress every season and is annoing when the best part of the serie is the siblings but the 4th has none of the redeaming qualities and only the bad...and it also seems like the writers did not remember what happend in previous seasons or didnt like it so they retconed it . the moral is that if your family and life is caotic and bad because of the abuse and misfortune you suffered you better end yourself, could have been a bittersweet ending but it was just bitter
I know everyone is talking about 5 but why is no one talking about Ben??? Ben has not had any character development in any of the seasons and when it seems that in the last season he might Having one includes a girlfriend to explain for just 7 minutes how your girlfriend was created and they give you a pathetic way to die

Me too, I loved that he felt like an old man trying to enjoy a 60 year retirement instead of a 20 year one
so basically when 5 was actually 5 and not a hollow shell of a character

there's part of me thats honestly concerned Aidan's gonna develop a psychoemotional complex bc he was playing a 60-67 year old man (with a bloodlust problem) trapped in a 15-22 year old's body for the better part of a decade
five and lila should of have gained a platonic relationship.

Season 3 imo had more than just hiccups. It was a major down grade.

And why did Allison get to have her 60s love interest AND and her modern child but he doesn’t get a chance with Dave or something???
"yeah we were forced to abandon plot lines'
-Decides 5's out of character love story should be kept in...??
I can understand why they kept it, dismal though it is.
Five realised he would always be alone, and this dismal realisation overrode his previously extremely strong survival drive.
@@alanpennie8013 that just seems like a reason why the love story is not necessarily out of character for five but doesn't justify the writers adding that side plot in the first place. There wasn't enough time to resolve any of the issues created by it causing the ending to fall completely flat because all you can think about is how lila/diego/five are all dying hating or upset with each other from unresolved issues that didn't need to be created and took time away from resolving other already existing issues.

How I would have written Klaus this season:
- After gaining his powers, his fear of the dead comes back to haunt him once again since he's now not used to seeing them.
Except Netflix plays sex trafficking as comedic relief while the comic treats it like a real issue 😀

The Hughie plot was made worse by the fact that Starlight had a similar story line about being SA’d is season one but that was taken in a more serious direction.
Actually the ghost sex toy was in the comics, but before his character development.

Ik I love all the characters and just about all the other seasons but this last season felt almost like fanfiction at a lot of points
Yes! She already had all signs of being a writer's pet in season 3, but season 4 just dropped all pretense and went town with her.
I’m pretty sure Klaus had the final line, but otherwise I agree. The writers fan-girled all over Lila this season.
All I wanted was for five to ay sorry for hurting Diego😭😭
How can Claire and Lila’s children survive without creating a grandfather paradox?
I think because the universe that they were created in is already being destroyed and the subway takes them to the prime timeline?
@@lkf8799
Unless they just blinked out of existence with the subway.
I suppose you can go with any ending there.
the way most of diego and lila's children weren't even named..
that bothered me too. there' so much focus on Allison's daughter but NOTHING for Diego/Lila kids? really??
The kids should have never been added. They just did it to trap Lila and Diego together because that’s the only thing that brought her back in season 3.
Wich could have been any different reason but no!!! If they would have split up over the 6 years and it showed how love sick Diego was but then he moved on and how Lila moved on also, it would have made five and hers storyline so much less messy and way sweeter. Not wierd. I just feel like the writers needed to trap them together to create drama when her and five ended up falling in love.
I also hate how they never really resolved their issues and died with loose strings. The whole season was rushed and horrible
They could have changed so much. For how unhinged the show is and how insane, I was expecting a crazy plot twist ending where everything was because of something or someone unexpected but instead it was boring and cliche. So so predictable.
@@MukbangMondays honestly, the five lila romance was always going to be really weird.
Wasn't their daughter named grace??

Even if the problem is THAT YOU WERE BORN, which was caused by their abusive father in the first place so I guess it's a win for bad fathers.
guys, this isn't normal world, it's some sci fi shiit, in this case their existence really was the problem, totally not their fault, daddy's to blame, but as long as they exist there are all those timelines with apocalypse and weird stuff happening
@@geekyhive Yeah the grandfather paradox, wow, somehow I find news ways to make me hate the ending even more.
All good points. But to add 5 also just accepts his entire life and everything he's been working to is wrong so gives up and doesn't care at all.
@@Jstaman But wasn't only really prevalent in this season? I don't recall him being like that in Season 3 until Reggie "convinces" them all to go into the hotel.
I feel like the tragic ending of them finding out there was absolutely nothing they could do to stop the apocalypse-
-would have actually been a really brutal and interesting ending, if it was executed properly.
So basically season 3 is the REAL ending. Got it.
For me, definitely. There was nothing interesting happening in the alternate timeline that is S4.
S4 was so extremely BAD. I can't bear it. S1 was a MASTERPIECE and had exactly the right kind of quirkiness. S3 was already dropping in quality A BIT, but nothing like the dumpster fire that is S4 :< Honestly, why does Netflix hate its movies and shows q.q
I love how u put Five and Lila as well as Ben and Jennifer together.

I think what’s gross is that the actors were uncomfortable with the Greenhouse scenes and that whole story arc

Agreed. Can't believe how badly butchered the final season was.
Facts I literally thought that’s where they were going I thought it was going to be like the kids vs Reginald in his alien form as the final episode they could have even made it that he had time traveling information so they could have properly reset the timeline or something considering Reginald always is at the center of the umbrellas struggle

As far as I'm concerned, there are only two seasons of The Umbrella Academy. But this was a good video :)
The omen wasn't Klaus cutting his hair, but Five growing his.
It showed him with the long hair in the first season during the “surviving for decades as one of the very few people left on earth” montage 😭

THIS. Allison’s wasn’t sucked out. And why did their powers come back so differently
it pains me to see one of my favorite shows of all time, get such a bad spin ending, the actors and fans deserved better than what they got, it’s clear that Netflix was done with this show
I was genuinely drawn in by the story and the characters, my interest gradually decreased with the seasons passing, but the actual nail in the coffin for me was the roadtrip scene, my interest completely disappeared when I saw that characters puking with baby shark playing on the background is what the series had come to, I stopped watching as soon as I realized that, and the rest of the writing or acting hadn't been great at all by that point
Could have but the poor excuse of writers and their pea brains had to come up with this convoluted plot to make up a sad excuse of a season.
if her entire reasoning was to get rid of the marigold, why not give it to some animal and then kill the animal?? then jennifer wouldn't have to die either cuz there would be no marigold to interact with her daringo. also why didnt reggie remake his new reality WITHOUT marigold and daringo??
@@adisaster8734 literally any other thing could have happened but the writers wanted the hargreeces to gave the marigold to force them to kill themselves

It had the GoT problem: they ran out of comics to adapt. The original series is on hiatus.
Hollywood needs to stop adapting unfinished works that inevitably lead to hack tv writer endings.
They deviated from the comics in season 2 already, it was just pure incompetence.
They should have switched powers insted of what they've got. THAT could have been fun
- Blue flashlights -
Now Five is now in a room alone and he stands in front of a laptop. On the screen he can notice the file "Umbrella Academy - season 4 - script". He deletes it.
- Blue flashlights -
Now Five is on the sofa again and, looking at his tablet he read the news: "Netfilx decided to cancel season 4 of Umbrella Academy". He smiles.
Pogo's voice: "And that's how Five saved the universe from something much worse than the end of the world"
THE END
The writers of the show might just kidnap you bro watch your back

Honestly season 4 completely destroyed his character for me. Honestly the biggest asshole of the whole family. Fuck him
nice fanfiction, didnt read though
This is somehow even worse than what we got, bravo 😂
Having baby shark as a music choise was the only evindence I needed to realize this season was dead from the start... the stuck tape gag was salt to injury... wasn't funny in HIMYM either and that wasn't yesterday...
Abandoning Klaus was one of their biggest mistakes...for me he was the best character. Funny on the surface, possibly the deepest traumas on the inside, decent character development in the previous seasons - he could have been a huge help for the remaining siblings facing their own struggles him being already out on the other side if they didn't reduce him back into the addict box.
Lastly about the Fivela storyline....as first I tried to talk myself into being okay with it like....this could have been an enemies to lovers or something considering how when Lila came into the story first literally her only task has been killing him...but
1. it makes no sense after her storyline with Diego,
2. brings in an unnecessary tension that never gets solved,
3. is weird considering the 15 years age gap of the actors (Gallagher 20, Arya 35),
4. is even weirder considering the sibling-like relationship and ~28 years age gap between the characters (Five 64, Lila around 36)
+1. what about Delores being the only love of Five's life? :D
it was just wrong on sooooooooo many levels... T.T
I started watching it with my brother... finished it without him and told him I heard a romour season 4 never happened. It got cut after season 3.
So, if they just took the marigold, they should have become pregnant and not get powers. 🤷♀
Now that would have been interesting.
He was so unlikeable.

wow, the powers segment really opened my eyes to how badly they actually handled giving them all powers again. i thought it was fun seeing similar elements implemented in different ways, i hadn't thought enough about how lazily they changed things. lila gets her original power back AND a new one! before we found out she can still mimic i just figured it was a play on her essentially having everyone else's power, so now she gets one singular power that's all her own. but no! that would be too clever and make too much sense!

My issue is that even if it did make sense, based on the scenario they put the characters in, it still didn't add anything to the story and took a lot away from it, including the fact that connecting emotionally with the ending was completely impossible as diego/lila/five are all dying hating each other from an unresolved plot line that didn't need to happen.

Season 3 was horrible, we had Allison's progression be destroyed for no reason.

I think it's mainly because no one is interested in Ben, not have they any reason to be.
@@HELLO_KORO me too! I wish they would have revived and have an emocional scene or at least a more interest way to day and not just with one bullet from a gun
It was horrible, such a effing horrible shameful way to end a show.
Nobody wanted nor asked for that Five and Lila ship, that ruined everything for me
