I'm new to VGC (thanks wolfe) and honestly from learning about the old games/metas and what not honestly I feel like Tera was the best most well balanced gimmick and the removal of super OP mons making it available for other mons to flex their stuff is pretty cool. I think they should do 1 world championship with the OP mons but another without them it's cool seeing typholsion pop off
Tera is annoying because it’s somewhat balanced in VGC but in literally any other meta game on Showdown it is completely unbalanced. Megas are the best gimmick and brought unviable Pokemon to the forefront. Z-Moves were completely broken and unfun. Dynamax is also unfun and broken.
Tera has been by far my favourite gimmick competitively. It basically gives every Pokémon a 3rd type. It adds so much dynamic counterplay and strategizing, I think the game will be genuinely worse off when it leaves. I know smogon singles people complain... But singles isn't a serious format anyway lmao

Interesting that something similar happened during reg H when Shadow Rider Calyrex underperformed on the first official tournament and Archaludon rain here, like many trainers surely include ways to answer them it became unfavorable to actually bring it, especially with open team sheet
I just hate archuladon. It is everything a single pokemon shouldn't be. Low amount of weaknesses of which are easily mitigated by tera. High amount of resistances. High natual bulk that when augmented with AV is nearly unkillable with an ohko. Deals great offensive damage in rain on both sides (physical - body press, special anything else after a boost). And great abilities to boot.
I really hope we get a "reg H" in every generation going forward, maybe even multiple (1 at the beginning and 1 near the end of the format) personally.

I wish Swampert was better competitively!! When I was younger and saw people using gastrodon over him I always wondered why. I think an interesting video idea could be talking about how abilities can make some Pokémon more viable than others and discussing a “what if” approach. Like a Pokémon with a really diverse move pool but is held back by a subpar ability. Seeing how good rillaboom and Incineroar are doing make me jealous for swampert (my fav starter) lol

Sometimes the strength of a player can be seen by how much adversity they faced to get where they are. It's like how placing 4th out of 10 players isn't a big deal, but placing 4th out of 500 is super impressive. After a tournament's Swiss rounds are over, you can compare players who have the same Win/Loss record by checking the Win/Loss records of the opponents they faced. The stronger your opponents were, the more impressive it is that you got as far as you did. That's Resistance: a tie-breaker stat based on the Win/Loss records of your opponents.
Reg H is my favorite format. It's so beautifully diverse. There are so many great Pokémon, and I've never cared for battles with Legendary Pokémon. Worlds would be so much better with a regulation this this. It seems almost wrong to prioritize power over diversity. That's exactly with the Pokémon company tells us to not do in the lore.
because all his hacking actually did was "not have to spend 550€ and 400 hours just to try one team" it doesnt change anything about the way the tournament is played.
